Her arrival was not one that one would have taken notice of, for no reason really. Whatever Vyra’s relationship may have stood with the woman named Alisa, an effective paragon of Hargeon City, the benefit of her relationship likely only stood to have existed within Hargeon itself. To venture further, it would mean her intertwining herself within the complication game of politics, the political discord and constant backstabbing and shifting of alliances to further put the benefits of any respective province, political party, or singular entity before others. Vyra had simply sought a chance to venture elsewhere, to see what else of Fiore there stood to be whilst adjusting to the life that in part she had been able to help find for herself given the fact her new friend, perhaps her strongest confident in this point was a woman who held as much of a strength and quantity of power like that of Alisa.

But, it would only stand to do so much here. The fact was, Marigold was not Hargeon. The influence of Blue Pegasus was not there, the wealth and value and influence that they would be able to otherwise invest and throw throughout into its people also being something that was just lacking in. Beyond just lacking in, it was not typically in the realm of organizations like that of Blue Pegasus to divert their focus and resources to groups that were not their own, or at least, that was how the provinces of Fiore had come to regard all of this for being.

It did not help given the relationship that Marigold held towards Hargeon as a whole. While both of them existed within the southern part of the country of Fiore, their philosophies, the investment of resources both towards them and out of them were far different than that of Marigold. The latter city had struggled over the past several years, the reliable amount of infrastructure development and investment that was generated towards it being a small fraction of some of the larger and more influential cities within Fiore’s history including Era, Magnolia, and Hargeon of course. Marigold was little more than a farming province, most of its goods coming by way of either farming or via its manpower that otherwise were sent to supplement the existing forces and work forces of others, in all various manners of functionality.

Indeed, the future of a person living in Marigold were not as fruitful as some may come to regard it as being, though in terms of potential, especially when wone gave it further consideration to the actual various avenues in which one could pursue, it was actually quite fruitful. A simple man that was born in Marigold could have stayed within the province, finding no shortage of work within one of the respective trades.

Tending to the various field jobs, either in tending the actual lands or the wildlife that frolicked through them, both were equally vital and important to the success not only for the people there, but also much of Fiore and beyond. Marigold was unique in that respect, that so much of the meat throughout Fiore came via the fields of Marigold, much like that of barley, wheat, and other goods. Arguably alongside Baska, there were no greater generators of raw food materials than the two of them, the lone exception perhaps being the fishing markets that were fueled heavily by the importing of fish into Hargeon.

It meant that there were always a need for more people to handle all of the work. Most operations within Marigold were known for hiring up to hundreds of people in some cases, and even smaller farms that were just beginning easily found themselves investing dozen workers with chances to grow exponentially, especially as certain factors like droughts or famines affected other regions. It wasn’t hard to believe that to compensate for a famine that struck a place like Bosco, farms in Marigold and Baska could see their worker sizes scale up by several hundred to increase their supply, though with that it also brought its own challenges and difficulties.

One such issue was the basic limitation that came with trying to grow an operation, the amount of land that was available to tend to. Farms were littered throughout Marigold and the ability to simply acquire more land was something that was becoming more and more difficult with each new farm set up or otherwise trying to expand existing operations. It also caused a great deal of problems when expansions of existing farms were stimulated by such disasters. Although it prompted a brief influx of demand and prices that would be able to justify such a growth of operations for a time, it did not mean that it was something that could for the long-term be sustained.

Seldom were those farms actually able to be sustained, and despite whatever influx of people that a farm may have hired to handle a particular crisis, inevitably it meant that once things calmed down, if even to a middling degree, then it would lead to what often was the most concerning part of all of this, that those hired would be displaced. It was seldom ever an isolated thing; almost every time that there were a spike in people being hired, there would be a spike in people who were looking for work afterwards. It was consistent as the likelihood that the sun would rise and the sun would set on any given day.

With the season coming to an end and much of Fiore having largely experienced a growth in trade towards other nations in what had become a heavier intake of all variants of goods, for whatever it seemed to have been unclear, it left a very rough dynamic to put the people. On one hand, the demand was not there for the people to find work knowing that it would be only a matter of time before they were displaced again, but on the other hand too, there was a constant demand for work, and it was hard to turn down the jewels.

For some, they opted for the short term benefit of pursuing the work and then hoping that their fortunes would turn, a route that plenty of people had carried out over the course of time, in years past, even months earlier. And for others, they sought to find their own niche within the city, thinking that there may be something different, something far more worthwhile in their futures, they opted instead to discover what Marigold had in store for them. Much like Vyra, they were intent on carving out their own futures.

It brought with it a mixture of side effects to Marigold. Perhaps more than anything, it was the crowded amounts of people, all of whom seemed to be going through their days in different ways. Some were frantic, struggling to figure out just what they were going to do, how they were going to survive, a gambit of emotions as they feared what may have been next for them. For others, they were more calm about the whole situation. If it took them potentially weeks, if not months even, to go ahead and find a profession that was more permanent than that of working within the farmlands, then they would be very content with that. For many including many of them, they had the benefit of having some level of investments or otherwise a place to rest their heads. They were not vagabonds, nor were they in dire situations. They had time to spare.

And then there were the others who found themselves within the role of Marigold, figuring out things along the way. It was a odd dynamic associated with it, that they were not hard-committed towards anything in particular. These were the ones who would find their own way. Whether it was establishing their own professions, committing to other jobs, or whatever it may have been that they felt that their futures would have led them to go however or wherever it was that they may have ventured.

And in some cases, the best option for them was to venture forward with new ambitions, and for some, although it was very much a difficult role to achieve, in some cases they sought to find success within the arts.

She was a bit surprised to have run into the man in the first place. Vyra had not been in Marigold for very long, perhaps no longer than a day or so when all was considered. It lent her with enough time to at the very least get a feel for the area, for what sort of people she stood to run into, and all things considered it were not a bad group, albeit one that she probably would not have associated with under most normal circumstances. More out of a general feeling of distrust, the one that she had long harbored, the one that she feared more than anything else. The people, everyone had their own agenda, their own reason for things, and it was not clear at all as to what it was they might have viewed within Vyra. No doubt that at least some of them were fostered in evil thoughts, evil thinkings of what just what it is that they would do with her if given the chance.

Because of this, she found herself spending more time to herself, preferring to not to give much thought to or towards any of them. It was safer for her in that case, but in spite of her best efforts, there was something that did cause her to be drawn towards something far beyond her comfort zone. A man, advertising something, quite what being something that she could not entirely tell, but it was very evident though for some reason it piqued her interest, if for no reason than otherwise to satisfy her uncertainty.

A small group had found themselves gathered about another individual, offering what stood to be some sort of entertainment event. A show of some sort. This was hardly a random thing or something that people had to be surprised by. The arts were a thing that at times were seldom lacking, and if someone were so invested in trying to spread their name and their craft around throughout Fiore, having a strong showing in any of the provinces was a great way to begin that. Vyra listened in as the man told of his story, about a fabled event, to have survived hardship in the far off country of Minstrel, intent on telling his plight through the act of the stage. But to do that, he needed someone, an actress who could have sold the tale of hardship that he so desperately needed.

Vyra waited and listened, not wanting to draw attention to herself right away, but as time went and the crowd dispersed, she approached the man, intent on offering her story as a chance to become the actress he sought. However, he laughed within her face, insistent that she could know no hardship. She was far too beautiful for such a thing, and besides, what sort of production could have possibly had a woman that was clearly just there to enhance her own career, as he had considered it. The rejection was cruel, unexpected, and unwarranted. Dejected, she began to depart, but not before the man did turn around and give her a chance to join in on the play, admitting that while her story was tragic, she was too attractive; that his role needed someone ugly. But he needed someone to help translate her plight into a believable story. It was not the role she wanted, but a role she received.

It felt like time just dragged on once Vyra had agreed to help out. It was not a job that she wanted, and she felt that it was just insulting more than anything else, to suggest htat despite what she had gone through, the limited amount of her story that she told being a small fraction and yet grossly outweighing any sort of plight that these people may have once suffered under, she was frustrated, no way to deny or hide that fact. But, she opted to remain and help the development of the play, which much to her shock was something that was nearly finished with.

It seemed that that was the only thing that had been missing were Vyra’s influence, her story and being able to properly translate it into something that actors could make tangible. As the play seemed upon the eave of opening, Vyra had still yet to find out who it was that she was going to be helping, and yet, the man who she had approached had insisted that she remain, despite her wishes to be done with all of this. After a while, she wondered if she would have anything to do with this, and then she saw her.

A woman, perhaps no older than Vyra was, there being little difference in appearance between her and Vyra when all was considered. And yet, there was something that was off. Her clothes were hastily put on, her hair was disheveled, she was panting, and she emerged from the small office room that he had been preparing the show in. Shortly after she left, he emerged from the room, glancing over to Vyra, having an evil look for a moment but not before smiling. He stated to her that that woman was going to be the lead of the show and she was to tell her of her story. He walked away then, and her eyes went glossy for a moment as she returned to focus.

The voice and consciousness within her put together everything far faster than Vyra stood to have. Knowing the bruises that littered her body, it was only fitting that if this man was intent on getting sexual favors from potential actresses, then that would be the last time that he would be finding work for himself. Controlling Vyra’s body, the personality lounged about for a while, waiting for the show to come near opening. Then, when everyone was gathered about waiting, Vyra stormed the crowd, crying rape at the director, showing the bruises that “he” had inflicted upon her. It was not true, none of it, but in the immediacy of what she was doing, the woman who was expected to be the actress also cried foul. Between both of them, it was not long until the crowd turned against the man, killing whatever hope that there may have been for the man to build a career in theatre, let alone having any hope of getting out of Marigold with any meaningful future in the first place.
