Overall: Thanks to her long, slender limbs, striking eyes and sharp yet smooth features, Lia erodes a whimsical and graceful aura dominated by the elven piece of her genes. Her need to fit in has left her with a tendency to cover her short, pointed ears, and she's regularly accompanied by heels/high-footwear and a variety of hair pieces to seem taller than she really is. All in all, Ophelia always makes sure to put proper care into maintaining a gracious exterior, ensuring her hair, skin and face are all well catered to.

When it comes to clothing preferences, she is generally a firm believer of ‘dress for the occasion and isn’t afraid to abandon aesthetics if they’re burdensome. Nonetheless, it would be a lie to say she doesn’t fully care for appealing clothing, as her personal taste does gravitate towards well-tailored, flowy outfits that aren’t always suitable for daily activities.

PERSONALITY

Personality: Lia is like a wave on the ocean: Gracious and dextrous, yet steadfast and somewhat unpredictable. Marked by a sense of self-confidence and attentiveness typical for half-elves, Ophelia possesses a distinct yet elusive personality that is hard to miss yet easy to grow accustomed to.

At a first glance, the elegant magician comes off as a sociable, alert individual who has no qualms about interacting with others. Words seem to escape her lips with little to no resistance, taking flight in charismatic, serene tones that occasionally clash with the sheer naivety of her world concepts. While some may interpret her lack of wisdom as a sign of innocence and simplicity, this is far from true.

Ambitious and passionate to a T, Ophelia is not one to easily give up on achieving her goals. She prides herself on a resourceful attitude with an eye for detail, both of which fuel her down-to-earth self-awareness, perfectionism, and willingness to sometimes get a little ‘creative’ with the skillset she developed. Though she would never vindictively try to hurt or use someone, it’s not unheard for her to tell a few white lies or try to subtly influence someone, especially when there is something at stake that her stubborn mind cares for.

While the path before her is foreign and likely dangerous, Ophelia faces the uncertainties of the world with vivid curiosity, bordering the line between being playfully inquisitive and a downright reckless thrill-seeker. Her explorative motivations generally clash with the cordial way she presents herself, adding to the duality of her nature and nurture.

Novelties: Whether it’s trying out a new dish, meeting new people, or partaking in daunting experiences, Ophelia finds thorough joy in uncovering the novelties that life has to offer.
Flora & Fauna: As someone tightly connected to the wild both by blood and nurture, it goes without saying that Ophelia has a keen fondness for nature and its inhabitants. She is particularly interested in and protective over marine wildlife, something which her magic tends to emulate.

Rigidity: Having been regularly exposed to a strong traditionalist ‘we’ve always done it that way’ mentality, Ophelia has grown rather sick of rigid mindsets and lacklustre explanations. She believes the whole concept of blindly following tradition and/or rules makes little to no sense, and will easily grow agitated whenever someone demands her to do it anyway.
Isolation: Given her free spirit, Ophelia isn’t the best fit for the highly secluded lifestyle that many wood-elves happily live.

Motivations:

Discovery: Ophelia would list many different motivations that fuel her latest decisions, but they all really end up at the same denominator: finding her place in the world. She wishes to figure out who she really is, and which path in life would best suit her wants and needs rather than listening to family demands.

Fears:

The Human Half: Over the years, Ophelia has developed an irrational fear of meeting her father. Even thinking about it can make her feel uncomfortable and hypervigilant, as if ready to flee from danger. For whatever reason, the half-elf is adamant that her human father will hold her accountable for the fact that she stuck to her mother, even though that wasn’t a choice of her own.
Death: With so many wishes and hopes still lingering in her head, Ophelia is far from ready to say her goodbyes. It terrifies her to know that there’s an end to everything, and that even those closest to her will be lost eventually.

Magic Description: Water-Make is a moulding-type caster magic that allows the user to shape water into a vast array of objects and shapes. Befitting of Water’s fluid, nimble qualities, Ophelia opts for a more dynamic repertoire of skills, with each ability resembling a marine creature of interest.

HISTORY

History: Being an outlier is never easy. Even the most useful qualities will go unnoticed if they are too unique, almost as if people feel endangered by the authenticity. Half-elves - as perfect examples of outliers - are all essentially destined to face the punishment of being different, and Ophelia’s fate would not stray. Just for fun, however, mother earth decided to make things even more complicated: to make her an outlier among outliers.

Originating from a bond between a simple human man and a complex wood-elven woman, Ophelia was born and raised by her elven half in the capital of the Wood-elves, Athalran. As a highly reputable socialite with a keenness to maintain her baby, Ophelia’s mother pulled any strings she could to let her imperfect child live a perfect yet unorthodox life, even risking being ostracised. Despite the dangers and many setbacks, the ambitious woman managed to succeed at introducing her child to the conservative town, though it warranted some sacrifices on her unknowing daughter’s end.

Sacrifice one: You will never know your father. Her mother was to be the only caretaker in her life, and her elven family the only kin. Admittedly, it didn’t really matter to the young girl for quite some time. Life in the forest was exciting, comforting and all she knew, though with time she would begin to slowly notice some of the subtle differences between herself and others.

Sacrifice two: You will never fit in, but everyone will expect you to try anyway. Lia learned to move in the right way, yet kids would still tease her for not being acrobatic or nimble enough. She learned to speak in the right tones, but elders would scorn her for being blunt and rushed. She would even learn to appreciate the right values and worship the right gods, yet still, people would eye her with hesitance. Despite there being enough individuals that looked past the superficial differences between her and them, there was always a loud voice in the back that reminded her of the sad truth.

Sacrifice three: You will never chase your human wishes, desires, and traits. Aranthal would be her bubble, her world. Her mother - motivated to keep her daughter conformist for her own protection - making sure that even the slightest signs of curiosity would be slammed down immediately. Unfortunately for her, this brought some unforeseen results, for Ophelia never learned to let go of her desires, she just began to embrace them more and more.

Her disobedience spiralled quite swiftly once it emerged in her early teens. At the age of 15, Ophelia convinced everyone that she had discovered an intense love for plants and flowers, which marked the start of frequent ‘foraging’ trips into the forest. Her innocent travels for flora, however, were really just a clever rouse for going on human-object treasure hunts or sight-seeing trips around roads and shortcuts that humans would occasionally frequent. Eventually, Ophelia found the bravery to roam to the outskirts of the forest, watching the bands of travellers and wandering merchant parties move past far in the distance. Thoughts of chasing after them clouded her mind every time, until one day, she actually did.

The young blonde spent several years putting together a self-acclaimed masterful ‘escape’ plan, most of which centred around learning about humans and the lifestyles beyond the forest. Her main teacher was an old lady in town who was shunned by many for her loud opinions, but Ophelia couldn’t adore her more. Every week, she would sneak out to learn about human tradition and history from her, even taking steps to learn the human tongue. Granted, there was no way to confirm whether the information she was told was actually true but, given the lack of alternatives, Ophelia had faith in the lady’s convincing stories.

Two years of serious preparation went by, and the young dreamer felt more confident than ever Everything had gone so perfectly that she failed to catch onto a painful oversight: a peeping Tom who heard her practise Fiorian and threatened to ruin it all. Rather than taking care of the issue, Ophelia resorted to more extreme means. It was time to go.
