Name: An Unexpected Journey

Difficulty: Epic

Participants: Atani Tathvir, Jove Augustus, ???

Story: For the longest of times, Wood Elves and humans have stayed their distance. Despite the elves once having free range of Fiore and all its lands since before humanity settled there, they are now secluded to the mystical forest known as Athalran. Meanwhile, humans have the rest of mainland Fiore to themselves. This arrangement has served both communities well and in peace with humans being ruled by their own monarchy and Wood Elves being ruled by the Everqueen. However, the recent events that have afflicted Fiore have also impacted Athalran in similar measures. In order for peace to prevail throughout the country, it is paramount that the elves with their mystical knowledge team with humans and the diverse skills they have to offer. Only, establishing such a mutual alliance between the two races is difficult given the deep-rooted history of war, racism, and distrust. While it is not a law that non-elves are forbidden from Athalran, its location is often kept secret and foreigners are dissuaded from entry.

Objective: Open the gates for a connection between the Wood Elves of Athalran and the rest of mainland Fiore [establish Athalran as an RP location].

Summary: Atani has dwelled on the thought that both humans and elves would benefit from interacting with one another more. After knowing what Fiore went through the past several years, she makes a trip back to Athalran to see how it fares firsthand.

Others:

Elven Guards: Guards posted at the city gates of Athalran to ensure the safety and security of the Wood Elf citizens inside.

Objectives:
  • Create a topic anywhere in Fiore
  • Travel to Athalran by entering a magic gate hidden behind a waterfall
  • Before entering the elven city, you must travel through the forest itself
  • Along the way, there is evidence that harm has befallen the surrounding nature (i.e. forest spirits are scarce, plants are damaged, animals are frightened)
  • Take notes on issues that should be addressed upon arriving to Athalran's city
  • Once you arrive at the gates, you are blocked by the guards; security has been tightened due to the recent events throughout Fiore
  • Convince the guards to let you in

Summary: As a citizen of Athalran herself, Atani is let through the gates and is able to explore her hometown. While there, she learns that not all is as it seems. Her reputation among the humans has reached Athalran. While some are happy that the Sylvan Fay has returned, others are wary. A sense of trust needs to be re-established among her kind.

Objectives:
  • Create a topic in Athalran
  • Socialize with the locals to see how they have been impacted by recent events
  • There will be those who think humans are to blame for some of the travesties that had befallen Fiore, including the Demonic Incursions and great mana surge
  • Quell any erroneous fears about humans

Arodon: A Wood Elf socialite of lesser nobility who lives in the inner circle around the Everqueen's palace. While his love and respect for elven traditions runs deep, he has an exotic taste and likes to share it with others.

Summary: The Athalran citizens find it surprising that elves do not face nearly as much discrimination as they did years and years ago, but it is not enough to simply take one's word for it. They need to experience this change themselves. Atani asks Jove Augustus to come to Athalran with her, as well as a small group of trusted Rune Knights. They are asked not to bring weapons and to come in everyday clothes as opposed to uniform.

Objectives:
  • Create a topic in Athalran
  • Begin introductions by bringing someone trusted alongside
  • Tour Athalran, exploring different areas and learning about the elves' way of life there
  • While some cling to the old beliefs, others are intrigued by foreigners
  • Eventually, a man of elven nobility named Arodon approaches and is curious to know what brought so many people to Athalran
  • After conversing with him, Arodon invites you to dine with him.

Arodon: A Wood Elf socialite of lesser nobility who lives in the inner circle around the Everqueen's palace. While his love and respect for elven traditions runs deep, he has an exotic taste and likes to share it with others.

Enemies:

Corruption: The husk of a dead tree reanimated by a form of dark magic to spread death and destruction. It can extend its limbs and roots to a range of 20 metres as well as ooze poisonous tree sap.

Summary: Arodon invites Atani, Jove, and the other Rune Knights to his home. In exchange, he wishes to learn more about who they are and why they have come to Athalran. In the end, he admires their prospects, but insists nothing will come to fruition without proving themselves.

Objectives:
  • Create a topic in Athalran
  • Dine with Arodon and tell him what he wishes to know
  • Afterwards, you will receive instruction to leave the city walls and go into the forest
  • Somewhere in the forest is a mysterious source of 'darkness' that has been killing plants and sickening animals. If people are serious about being among the Wood Elves' sacred land, they must protect it the same as them
  • Follow the progression of the 'darkness' deep into the forest
  • At its epicenter, there is a corrupted sentient plant with its roots burrowed deep in the ground. It will attempt to eliminate anything in its vicinity
  • Kill the source of 'darkness' and report back to Arodon

Enemies:

Summary: Jove and the Rune Knights are free to go having proved themselves in the eyes of Arodon who will spread the word of their success to the other high class elves he is in circles with. While Atani is grateful for their help, she fears of any secondary impacts killing the Corruption may have caused.

Objectives:
  • Create a topic in Athalran
  • Return to the site of the Corruption and investigate
  • Surely enough, the signs of the Corruption have begun to recede and there is no evidence of the monster regrowing
