Azure Fenic

The Pier was so nice and peaceful the fresh ocean breeze was something that he never really had the chance to experience the few times that he had to drop off some information. The pier was filled with all sorts of people as he observed them go about their day, part of him really wanted to cut loss and make some chaos but the other half really wanted to enjoy a day without any plotting involved. It wouldn't be very long until one of his contacts joined him at the and the two moved to one of the many tables with an umbrella on them to have their talk, "Its good that you contacted me first but I can't do much of anything until I have benifactor to support my...um side projects." he told the man with an innocent smile on his face.

Azure's contact would leave him as the drink the had asked for made its way to the table. Now all caught up with the happenings of some of the guilds he found himself in a rather odd opposition just due to him being a freelancer once again. With his drink in hand the scholar opened his book titled How to Maintain a friendship, as he wanted to help his understanding of the subject when he meets with Eta next time. Even informants needed to relax to some extent every now and then but in the back of his mind he thought of all the ways he could use Odin to benefit his own game.

Odin †

Odin had spent many of his years working away from the coastline of Fiore. Whether it was on the Ark with Grimoire Heart, roaming around Dahlia as a member of Midnight Cult, or working in Oak now with Eternal Nightmare and his Swineherd Pub. Between his past, coupled with the fact that every interaction he had had in Astera had ended up being complicated, there hadn't been much desire for him to return. However, he now saw the place in a brand new light. It was a place of true joy: the people were kind to each other and were kind to Odin now that they knew him not as a monster but as a kind ruler. He didn't threaten them, often he actually protected them when something was amiss, and his rule was fair.

That allowed him to enjoy places like the pier of Astera much better. He could look out and enjoy the admittedly beautiful views that the coastal city offered. Both the sea, the cliffs and even the city itself brought a sense of freedom and majesty. It was slowly becoming one of his favourite locations, made even more so when he saw a face that he recognised, sitting by himself at one of the nearby tables, enjoying a drink that had just been brought to him. Odin was in full view of the man, having been facing him without even realising before, so he waved and began to wander across to him. As he did, Odin recalled the information that he had recently received via letter from Azure. He was interested once more in the offer to join the guild, or at least was willing to hear the Lich out. That was already a positive step, as he gestured to the vacant second chair, "Mind if I join you?" His tone was friendly, something many outside of the West wouldn't be accustomed to at all. This was a side many rarely saw.

Azure was deep into his studies on friendship but not so much that he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings, if he did that what kind of informant would he be after all. The drink he ordered had started to sweat from the heat. people began to mutter or attempt to whisper about someone or something but from the bits that he could hear it wasn't all that important to him, that is. while taking sips of his drink he couldn't help but think about all the ways that one could take down someone like Odin and get away with it, many of the plans were too messy for his own taste but some could have worked.

What little sun that was visible on the table quickly vanished as someone had made their way to him and asked for the empty seat. The scholar quickly closed his book and slipped it back into his bag as the main he was tracked saved him a few days of looking around, he stood up and extended his hand to the Old man as a show of good faith "Good to see that I didn't have to hunt ya down," he said gesturing for the man to sit. Part of him felt as though he was making a horrible decision by having this meeting at the same time the other part was fine with it, given their end-all goal. "From the looks of it my letter made its way to you without fail?" the letter had done its job in bringing Odin out into the open but this was not the ideal meeting place he had in mind.

Odin †

Odin still wasn't sure if he could trust Azure, the relatively unknown Informant who had sent him a letter requesting a meeting. If nothing else, the man's lack of any noticeable reputation was a testament to his ability as a hidden figure. Having a finger in every pie, yet with no one having any knowledge of his existence, it certainly worked for the role the man played. As Odin sat down to join him, the words from Azure were already interesting. Of course, he was here to find and meet up with Odin. That was known by both of them, but he wanted to 'hunt' the Lich down. Probably just a random choice of words, but perhaps not.

It was a good thing Odin was paranoid, it kept him alive. Meeting Azure here was not entirely accidental, the Lich made a point of knowing anyone important that came into his cities. When someone sends him a letter directly, he makes sure someone keeps an eye on them. He knew Azure in Astera, so all that mattered was walking around enough until he found him. "Oh you know me, hate to be a bother. You were looking for me, so here I am." Reaching into his shirt breast pocket, he pulled out a small piece of paper, upon which Azure had written his note.

"Of course, I don't receive mail that often, especially not mail as exciting as yours."

Even though trust between the two was still in its infant stage he was happy to see that it was actually him and not some projection of him but regardless of past events he needed to focus on his main objectives. The people that were still on the Pier didn't seem scared of the walking bone man even though all his information about the people told him that it was a mixed bag of those that liked him and those that wanted to see him dead or unalive in this case, though the question has passed his mind a few times if Liches can die twice or not.

As he pulled out the letter Azure chuckled a bit as he didn't think that he would keep it for evidence but then again this was a letter that didn't require a cipher this time around. Something about Odin just didn't feel right at this moment almost like he was unsure as to how to interact with the informant which was common as they are a shady bunch at times. Part of him wanted to just get right into the logistics of things while the other half was counting the second till they could hatch their lil surprise.

The game was just moments away from starting but with the number of people around them who could say just how many lives could be lost. "I've thought about your offer and I just have one condition..." he paused as he flicked his wrist creating a 0.5-Meter Diameter grey magic circle allowing him to summon Ignis "and it's you forgive me for this.". The summon broke the table that it was summoned along with its Master's drink as the Golem manifested the scholar and gestured for it to pierce through Odin's chest with both its hands. Assuming that Odin remembered their last little bout Azure was not taking this seriously whatsoever.

Ignis:

Odin †

Well that was certainly unexpected. The day had started off so politely for the two criminals. Obviously neither of them fully trusted the other, that came with being a criminal, but they had been civil as they discussed Odin's previous offer to Azure about the latter joining Eternal Nightmare. There hadn't been any animosity between the two, at least none that Odin was aware of, during their last encounter.

So why, during a perfectly amicable encounter, was Azure summoning one of his creations, breaking the table where they were enjoying their time, and command the golem to pierce through Odin's chest, actually hurting the Lich since he had not had enough time to prepare. Odin wasn't angry, as he looked down at the arms that were now stuck inside his ribcage, he was perplexed. "Did I do something to offend you, Azure? Is that what brought this on?" Using his superior strength, Odin would remove the golem's arms from inside his own body, before activating his Greed magic. Many inhabitants of Astera, sensing something dark coming, began to vacate the pier as the metallic armour began to coat the skeleton form of the Lich.  The first attack had gone through simply because Odin had not been expecting it. He wouldn't allow another one through.

His voice went low, knowing he had enough strength to beat Azure even without his weapon or armour, "I'm going to give you one chance to explain what just happened. You do that, I'm willing to forgive everything. I still think you have potential, please don't waste it like this." Odin's tone betrayed how he was feeling. The Wizard Lord wasn't begging for the man to stop for his own safety, he was doing it for Azure's. He was not currently viewing Odin as a serious threat, meaning there was some other reason for this. If he wasn't trying to actually defeat Odin, what was he doing?

It wasn't as though he wanted to have this be his first interaction with the Litch even though he had planned on having one summon out just in case things did go wrong. Excitement and fear were mixed into his expression as the golem had landed their attack without fail but now came the hard part of keeping on the pressure and just trying not to die in the process. "It's nothing personal sir. Ignis no matter what do not remove your hands from his chest!" even though Odin was more than capable of taking down Ignis with one hit but at the same time, he could tell that his objective was almost done. He noticed that the people began to run away from which was for the best given he could have used them as hostages if needed.

Azure quickly took three steps back and listened to Odin as he simply asked for an explanation to which he took a deep breath as he picked up his chair and place it back to its normal position "I'll explain later just trust me I know what I'm doing, but for now, don't fight back." he said opening his spellbook and points his free hand at Odin's Head God I hope he doesn't kill me, he thought firing an arcane missile that would deal A rank damage should it land.

The summon was a nuisance, it didn't provide any substantial damage to the fight but it made things annoying for Odin to deal with, as Azure asked for the Lich to not react or fight back. The creature had its hands in Odin's chest, refusing to move them until the Lich physically removed them himself, as he did before his Greed magic activated. The summon wasn't strong enough to stop Odin, and with a flick of his hand the Lich backhanded the golem and caused it to dissipate.

Odin wasn't a nice guy, he wasn't a hero and he certainly wasn't the type to sit idly by as someone tried to hurt him, not matter how futile their attempts were. Just because Azure had asked nicely meant nothing, and his next decision sealed the deal. From the boy's spell book, a single missile shot forth. Odin, having no time to react, took the blow straight to the head, the collision occurring to the right side of his skull. It missed his eyeball, thankfully as it would possibly have done terrible damage to the powerful artefact, but the spell dazed Odin. He knew then that his magic would be more difficult to focus, and he wouldn't be able to put as much power behind his punches. Not that he would need to.

After receiving the attack, Odin would raise a finger and point at Azure, sending a missile of his own at the boy, one that would travel faster and deal more damage than the measly one he had fired at the Lich. It would leave the boy with very little left, almost taking him out straight away with the simple spell. Odin would approach him after the spell collided, his face impartial but his tone conveying the rage he felt as he would grab Azure by the neck.

"You have three seconds before I crush your windpipe. Explain."

Azure lowered his guard and using the book was still something that he was getting used to mixing and matching his own magic along with Elm, Okay Azure never do that again he told himself taking two deep breaths. Once he saw the Lich more or less force the summon back he knew that this game had reached its end and so he quickly ran through all the other summons that could possibly aid him but by the time that finally picked on Odin had already launched his counter attack.

The counter missile hit the informant in the chest knocking the wind out of him and breaking some ribs in the process, the impact from the hit was enough to send him flying back a few feet. Azure tried to pick himself but couldn't muster anything all he could do was put a smile on his face and gesture that he gave up but by the time that he could actually perform it, Odin had picked him up by the neck and more or less demanded an explanation. "I was hired to kill...you or attempt to kill you anyway." he looked at the skeleton man "I can't tell you the name due to complications that we can get into privately." the scholar looked at the man with his face twisted between a smile and tears.

Dying was not on the table today so it was for his best interest that he told the truth even if that meant voiding his contract. "..Think you broke some ribs Mr. V." he now understood why Odin was so feared which just meant that joining him was the right choice, well attempting to anyway.

Odin †

Finally Odin got the explanation he was looking for, and it turned out to be fairly simple. Azure had been hired to try and kill Odin, and he had simply been performing for that task. He hadn't been using his strongest attacks (except that missile had been pretty impressive) but he had to make it seem like he was trying to kill him for real. Chuckling light, with his hand still over the man's neck, Odin would lower him and allow him to stand, or sit given how injured he now was. Odin had broken a few ribs with his bullet, reminding him of how powerful the spell actually was. He really had to be careful sparring with people who couldn't withstand the brunt of his power, especially given that had been Odin's weakest offensive spell that Azure had felt.

"If you'd mentioned that earlier, we could've put on a little show instead of just ending it abruptly." The Lich found it all amusing now that he knew the truth. If it had been anyone else, he might've not cared and still killed him, but Azure was a unique case. For a start he was the only person Odin had met with summoning magic in years, and also the man knew his way around the underworld, even if he was prone to making some stupid decisions.

"So, with all of that out of the way, you still interested in joining Eternal Nightmare?"

As he was released Azure held his sides as he stood in front of Odin even though part of him wasn't all that sure "Had I told you it wouldn't have been as convincing...ow." It would have been hard to actually tell him given he didn't know anything about his contractor which had him concerned to a point but it was something that he could handle later when his ribs were all together. "I have to say seeing you swat away Ignis like that had me scared for a minute." it was odd that he didn't remove Ignis first before doing anything.

"I wouldn't have come all this way if I wasn't accepting you're invention but I also came here with information that we can get to after I recover,"  he said with a smile on his face as it was nice that he could see a small flicker of Odin's real power even if he could have died in the process of doing so. Their little tussle also served as another way of gaining information just in case he would need to turn his back on the lich. Okay, guess that confirms all my fears after all he thought moving over to a new table and sitting down and recover a bit.

Odin †

Now that the actual dram was finished with, Odin did find some of the hilarity in the situation. Azure, who had just been hoping to do enough to convince his employer, had been swatted away with one attack by Odin. If nothing else, it would prove to whoever wanted the Lich dead that he would need to send more than just the single man to deal with him. There weren't many individuals in Fiore who could defeat Odin, most people would feel safer sending an army. "I mean, can you blame me? I thought you were trying to destroy my eye", Odin pointed to the single eyeball that sat, attached to the otherwise empty socket of his skull, "and I really like this eye. It's not cheap to replace something like this." Neglecting to mention the fact it belonged to a powerful elven mage and that it gave Odin the ability to copy any spell he witnessed was probably a good idea. Not because he didn't trust Azure, but because he could never know who was listening.

As the man moved to another table, he mentioned having some information that may have been of interest to the Lich. Odin, moving to join him, decided to speak first. Azure needed time to rest and heal, he could tell his information later. "I welcome you to the guild with open arms, broken ribs and all." He chuckled slightly before his voice got lower, quieter, "I have a task for you already, if you're feeling up to it. There is a very special child that has recently joined the Rune Knights named Bryson. I'd like for you to meet with him someday soon, and explain to him who you are and what guild you are a member of." Odin brushed some dust off of his skull from the missile and adjusted some of his displaced ribs from the attack before continuing, "Don't worry about his allegiance, I think you'll find him a very unique character, and one you can definitely have a fruitful relationship with."

It was all coming together.

Azure didn't really want to say anything in regards to the eye comment as it raised too many questions but that wasn't to say that it didn't spark up some interest on the matter given the way that he talked about its importance to him. "I'll be sure to keep that in mind next time we fight hehe..ow," he said jokingly but part of him wanted to fight the Lich again when they had much more power to pull from. some of the people that had left the pier had made their way back now that everything was settled. It was odd seeing the people remain claim when something as scary as a lich was owned the area more or less.

The joke made at the informant's own expense something that he had come rather accustomed to at this point in his career, "Now you have my full attention." it wasn't every day that someone just had work for him lined up already especially after the events of today. The fact that Odin had someone inside the Knights made his work much easier and efficient which was greatly appreciated Guess I don't have to break into offices anymore he thought to himself pushing the hair away from his eyes. His ribs were fine so long as he didn't do too much movement or laughed too hard.

Odin †

Azure was clearly in pain, groaning from the broken ribs and likely needing medical attention as soon as he left Odin. But, most importantly, everything had relaxed in Astera. People were returning to the pier, happy they were no longer at risk and wanting to enjoy the warm weather. This wasn't something that was entirely rare in Astera, as Odin had brutally killed some bounty hunters mere days before. Some in the city weren't happy with being owned by the Lich and Eternal Nightmare, but the prosperity the guild brought them could not be denied. Eternal Nightmare were good for the city, they brought in customers and money, and there were a lot less problems from bandits and other unsavoury ne'er-do-wells.

As expected, Azure was a fan of using his talents instantly now that he was a member of the guild. Odin hadn't just wanted to recruit the man for his summoning magic, although having a summoner was a powerful tool in the guild's arsenal. He had wanted someone to act as his spymaster: collating all the information gathered by the various spies working within all the possible enemy groups, Rune Knights being one of the greatest threats.

"Report to me with anything Bryson tells you, I'm counting on you to keep me informed of our enemy's plans." Stretching, Odin would then bid Azure farewell before returning to his Astera residence. Today had been a good day.

Azure was thrilled to finally have an official side project to work with his main project even if it was just working with a fake knight though now that he had heard the name again he hoped it wasn't the same Bryson that he had meat at before as that would most likely just be a rather weird exchange for the both of them. Regardless of who it might actually be he now had even more reason to keep to himself on top of all the other things that he has going on currently. As Odin stated what he wanted him to do once the information was given.

"I'll have to think about it but sure I can do that." he smiled as he could wisted and change the information that he gained from this Bryson at any given time but then again he could also just give it to him straight. Given that he was now alone at the pier he needed to find the nearest hospital or healer to patch him up. Azure looked around the pier for anyone with any type of medical experienced, "Man this is gonna take a minute..." he muttered to himself as he got up and walked off.
