When it comes to his attires, Klaus often wears an intense black trench coat that reaches down under his knees. The entirety of his wardrobe is black, with some dark grey or white clothing items, and he has a clear preference for well tailored suits and long coats. Chances are he won't ever wear bright colours.
Extra: "Memento Mori" tattoo on his back, spreading from left to right near his shoulders.
PERSONALITY
Personality:
- Spoiler:
Klaus' personality tends to be rather dualistic in nature. Being an almost unhealthily self-aware individual, he often described his personality as a coin that spins on the edge of chance. Depending on the situation he faces and on the amount of emotional maturity he has, he could react either in a calm and distant manner or in a passionate and fiery way.
On one hand, Klaus is a highly organized and rational individual who displays a proud stoic attitude and approaches most aspects of life rather systematically. On the other hand, he can display empathy, warmth and kindness strangers wouldn't typically expect of him. This dualistic nature comes from an interior conflict that sits unshaken on a foundation of childhood trauma. It's safe to assume his robotic tendencies are a coping mechanism of sorts.
Because of his compulsive thought patterns, most people who interact with Klaus will get a taste of his professional persona and rarely see public displays of vulnerability. As the big picture thinker that he is, Klaus looks at the future more than he looks at the past. His arrogance and occasional insensitivity are deeply rooted in the belief that emotions do not lead to progress as much as they lead to failure. This being said, he is not in complete rejection of his feelings and human side, they simply surface less often and require a catalyst of sorts, such as being comfortable around those who surround him. Regardless of his efforts to seem an introverted individual, Klaus is actually a closet ambivert, one who sees human contact as a finer thing in life.
There have been a few individuals who tried to tap into the warm persona Klaus can be and managed to do so, but there are times when he is too stubborn for his own good and trades receptivity for contrasted black and white thinking. He is yet to learn that balance is what brings inner peace instead of leaning towards one side or the other - the rational or the emotional - and with the right resources he might get there. Or not. Descent into the madness of existence is not such a far-fetched concept.
Likes:
- Philosophy: Klaus decided to study more after plunging deep into Minstrese existential philosophy, and his thirst for knowledge led him to the different writings of several Earth Land philosophers, which became a sort of passion for him.
- Caffeine: Coffee is one of life's better pleasures. Caffeine gives Klaus the energy he needs to deal with other people and see where the day takes him, so he enjoys every grain of it.
Dislikes:
- Authority: Growing up among the lawless has a logical result: an antipathy for those in positions of authority over one's life. Klaus has a tendency to avoid contact with authoritative figures, however it is not a strong aversion.
- Emotional Displays: Klaus despises displays of emotion in the same way he despises authority. He can't help but feel uncomfortable whenever such displays occur around him, and his cognitive empathy isn't enough to prevent him from feeling uneasy.
Motivations:
- Existential Dread: The absurdity of the universe, heightened by his unpleasant childhood, is a central theme in Klaus' existence. Klaus is motivated to make the best of his life - not in a hedonistic way, but in a quality-focused, selective way - simply because he believes death is the ultimate truth. He could very well create his own meaning because he has no higher power to govern his existence. As a result, his ego is driven by the quest for purpose, the opportunity to rebel against the absurd, and the fragility of life.
- Self Experimentation: Self-awareness has a high cost, and changing one's own existential fabric can be a difficult, if not impossible, task. As a result, another source of motivation for Klaus is to experiment on himself with the intention of changing who he is. Self-experimentation is enough to keep him going as he gives up his morally problematic practices of the past.
Fears:
- Thanatophobia: The fear of dying is linked with existential dread. While death itself may not be a cause of fear for Klaus, the process of dying certainly is. Anxiety arises as he considers the various ways he could die. Depending on his mental condition, it can be crippling or not.
- Arachnophobia: Klaus is terrified of even the tiniest and least scary creatures, specifically spiders. He won't react if he sees them while keeping a safe distance, but closing the distance gap or even touching them will provoke mild panic attacks.

HISTORY
History: - Spoiler:
Many people dream of having a healthy childhood, but Klaus did not have one. He grew up in the Kingdom of Bosco, not far from the capital, and learnt early on that happiness is relative. His parents, who were ordinary individuals with no notable achievements in life, abandoned him soon after he was born. It wasn't a difficult task, based on how easily they got rid of him, which is why he never tried to meet them later in life.
But before he became old enough to even consider such scenarios, Klaus had to deal with several drawbacks which would shape him up as a person. He detested the authoritarian character of the staff and despised practically everything about the orphanage he was assigned to: the curfew, the bullies, the almost militaristic teachings that were imposed upon him, and the faux empathy portrayed by the facility's director. Klaus lost contact with his emotions and developed an aloof attitude as a result of being robbed not only of parental care, but also of any form of emotional support. Being an aloof child may appear terrible, but for someone like him, it was a strategy of survival.
Disregarding the curfew by sneaking out of the orphanage became a habit during his early youth. The internalized disdain Klaus had for the world led him to become associated with a gang of thugs. Because he didn't get a good education in ethics, going down the wrong path was almost natural for him, and it quickly escalated into a slew of unlawful actions.
Among the goons Klaus befriended, there was one in particular whom Klaus admired, primarily out of fear. What he couldn't comprehend at the time was how someone who tramples corpses and symbolizes lawlessness could yet be a figure of authority. Klaus didn't regard them as having authority, but as being able to do whatever they pleased in a lawless world. It was all a pyramid plan in terms of hierarchy, with said person at the top and the rest of the goons, including Klaus, spread out over the lower levels - a pyramid structure Klaus would go on to climb at such a tender age.
There appeared to be a clear link between his physical growth and his lack of ethics. He displayed fewer morals as he grew older. That was a common sight in the Kingdom of Bosco, a country that values power above all else, but he knew no bounds. Klaus managed to get blood on his hands near the end of his adolescence, went through multiple heists, some of which failed and others which succeeded, and received his own team to command. None of these things appeared immoral to him, and he even felt entitled to the blood of his enemies as he devastated life after life, because - in his own twisted perspective of the universe - his acts represented a way for him to rebel against the awful hand of cards he was dealt at birth,
He continued along this dark path for a few more years, gaining some notoriety in the Boscosi underworld, but, as with all things, this way of life would come to an end for Klaus. He found himself tangled up in political power struggles by the time he was a young adult, close to turning 20. Despite the fact that one of his clients was a potentially dangerous cult, Klaus chose to break the contract by doing business with the highest bidder instead. He didn't care whether his client and the highest bidder were enemies as long as money was in his pockets, but his greed cost him his humanity instead.
The cult quickly learned of his conduct and, because the contract had already been breached, took matters into their own hands. The thugs Klaus commanded died one by one, and Klaus died with them - or so it seemed. He had been endowed with an Obscura on the verge of death and accepted it as a last attempt to defy fate. The specifics are foggy because he can't recall how, when, or who did it; all he remembers are the words "Redeem yourself," spoken sternly by an unknown voice. His newfound abilities were enough to bring him back from the brink of death at the time, but the desire to rewrite his existence was now stronger than his will to live. This may be a blank canvas.
As of today, Klaus is undergoing a complete transformation. Being pushed into redemption, as well as receiving the powers of a Demon who believes in virtue, is a significant event in and of itself, but Klaus came to terms with it and concluded that redemption might not be so dreadful after all. It's been a few years since his near-death experience, and he's spent that time training, learning more about the world, and studying philosophy. Leaving Bosco proved to be the right decision.
