Revy had not returned after the last mission in the Crimson Quarter, Kai wanting to know more heads back there to see if he can find her when he is pulled aside by a homeless beggar who hands him a sealed envelope, Kai pays the man for delivering it to him, Kai watches the man goes back to his place and wonders what is going on. He opens it and it tells him that a underground group of five have taken his exceed and are calling him out and he will be paid to deal with them how ever he sees fit, if he can handle those odds. Kai has no doubts in his head or his heart and he isn't gonna make Revy wait to be saved. Kai starts running for where the invite sent him and there is a Joyan man in Joyan armor and two katana's on his hip, he starts laughing as he sees Kai.

Kaito

The man draws his swords and gets at the ready. ”I have to admit I didn't think you would come so fast looking for that damn stubborn cat.” Kai knows he found the right place, this man coulda played dumb and probably killed him. Kai figures his honor probably stops him from sneak attacking him, so he had to announce himself, or he is trying to get in Kai's head. Kai draws his blade ready for a fight, going back and forth with this skilled swordsmen, the man then opens his arms and a rain of weapons drops around them none aimed at Kai. Kai looks around and thinks to himself "great a re-equip user." the man runs in and clashes with Kai and it is like the man is juggling the weapons as Kai dodges and parries the incoming attacks. Kai knows he is in over his head on just the first one.

Kai knows he doesn't have time to doubt himself Revy's life might be at stake here. Kai runs his left hand down his right arm and a magic seal sweeps over him coating him in ice to make him more durable. Kai starts striking back looking for an opening for when this man switches weapons from the ground around him, but this man leaves damn near no opening of wasted movement. Kai catches a small opening between when the weapons shift but it is less then second to act on it. He knows he is gonna have to make it a longer opening. He takes a breath then exhales on a back step, making a strong one handed swing that he knows will leave himself open for a counter attack hoping this man will take the bait. The man seeing this opening goes in on it only to catch his own hammer weapon from close by in in his breast plate sending him sliding back.

The man hold his ribs where the hammer had hit his breast plate and he smiles.”I didn't expect you to use that magic hammer.” The man laughs but he knows he can't keep fighting with his breast plate shattered and a broken rib. He moves his hand and the magic weapons disappear from around them and he hands Kai another envelope, which Kai opens and it tells him the next place he has to be going to get closer to get Revy back from them. He walks up to an abandoned looking building but he doesn't hear Revy screaming so he figures he is gonna have to beat someone else to get another clue to where to look. He sighs then enters the building and he can sense more then one person in the shadows. He dodges to the side and just barely misses getting hit with a dagger from a daemon woman that seemed to have come out of nowhere.

He grabs her arm and throws her, the woman lands perfectly on her feet and returns to the shadows. Three small fire balls whip past him and another daemon looking woman that looks sorta like the shorter one that just had tried to slash him is standing with a staff pointed at Kai. Kai runs behind a pillar to use it as barrier, he knows he can't hide here forever cause the other one will drive him out from the hiding place. He snaps making a magic seal and he slashes a finger through it sending a wind slash like projectile at the woman with the staff then makes a run for it while he senses for the other one hiding some where near by. He can't seem to find her, as if the shadows had swallowed her whole being up. He readies himself as he feels a blood lust coming close from above and he guards above himself and the girl with her dagger drawn slides making sparks against his sword.

The woman lands on her feet smiling and he moves in to try and strike her down, her needing to be the main target because the one throwing fireballs will not be as hard to deal with if he gets rid of the would be assassin who seems to appear from no where to cause him to move. She tries to dodge but kai is already a step ahead of her, cause she got cocky and he hits her right in her stomach and she falls to her knees the other woman letting out a yelp of fear for the one he had just hit. Kai feels a soft hum in the air of nature magic and he jumps back from the girl on the floor gasping for air and a magic seal appeared under her healing her. great he thinks to himself, they have a healer in here somewhere. He looks up and sees a faint glow from the next floor up, he scales the pillar and jumps up through the hole in the ceiling above to the next floor and there is another daemon woman that looks like them there she trips backwards when he jumps up into her face from the floor.

He grabs her arm to stop her from falling through another hole in the floor. ”Can we just stop this I just want my friend back, please...” The woman doesn't meet his gaze but she puts down her spear and surrenders not a fighter herself. the others on the floor below sound like they are panicking that he might have killed her. The would be assassin comes up from a hole in the floor and Kai chops the back of her neck to knock her out and he lays her down gently. The last one uses the stairs and is out of breath by the time she gets to them. She also surrenders as it is clear he didn't hurt her sisters more then he had to then she leads him to the stairs to the third floor to their leader. There stands a crimson haired man in a gas mask.

The man laughs and walks closer, the two sisters walk up and the man he fought first walks up carrying the knocked out assassin. The crimson haired man walks closer to Kai, who steps back from the man feeling something is off. ”We were paid to kill you at any cost. I guess it is time I pay that cost.” He reaches in to his own jacket and he sees the man pull out two triggers that lead into his body. Kai moves into the man while yelling to the healer she needs to cast a shield to protect themselves. He knows there is no way he can stop this man from exploding but he wasn't gonna let the others get caught in it. The woman listens to him without a second thought putting up a shield to eat most of the blast and the man uses his power and a shield appears on Kai's arm that he uses to eat some of the blast from the explosion as it sends them all flying from the building.

Kai is hurt from the blast but he looks around in midair and he sees the healer is knocked out and her sisters are scattered to the wind but the other man is still awake. Kai uses the debris to jump around on and collects the sisters and gets one to the man while he hurries putting one on his back while the other is in his arms and he makes a blast of wind to cushion their falls and they land softly. Kai sets the two women down and he looks at the man who puts the third down. ”Why did you save me ?” The man laughs and taps his chin with a grin of that is quite a clear answer. ”Why did you spare us? Instead of abandoning us?” Kai realizes the stupidity of his question after he didn't kill them, why would they not save him, when their leader nearly just killed them all to finish Kai off. The man points to the shed where his Exceed is in a cage and very mad.

Kai lets her out and she walks up to the man that had grabbed her and gives him a stern talking to, then she turns to Kai and sees he is quite a mess and is singed in some places and she hugs his leg cause she missed him and is glad he came to find her, Kai looks to the others and he wonders what they will do from here. The man kneels to Kai and asks him to take in their team as it will not be safe for them here anymore. Kai sighs knowing he just adopted more problems but he makes the man swear to him, and make sure when the others wake they also will do so, that they need to serve him. The man agrees then hands Kai the pay for taking down the team like had been requested of him. Revy giggles seeing he has just made more friends, even if he didn't want to, he picks Revy up and heads for home to house shop.
