Finally, a change from babysitting elderly people and delivering pizzas. A real job! One with action and mystery. Haru was feeling pumped. She'd heard the strange story of an unusual plant that had been growing ever skyward in the middle of Orchidia. Despite the efforts of the locals and others the city had hired, in an attempt to rid themselves of the plant, no one so far had been able to chop it down due to its enormous size. Rather, anyone that had come into contact with it in an attempt to do so, had fallen ill soon after. Fortunately, no one had died, instead, they simply displayed mild symptoms.

Haru found the whole situation very mysterious and intriguing and quickly took up the opportunity to speak to the inspector in charge of the investigation. They had a few discussions on what knowledge he already possessed, nothing further other than the rumours and stories she herself had heard through the grapevine.

She found his plan to set it up as a tourist attraction interesting. It would certainly be a nice way to attract people into visiting the North. However, she had to agree that due to it causing illness in the locals, it would only do the same to tourists and as such, it needed to be uprooted and removed from the city. The only issue was, well how do they do so when so many had failed before them?

After some further discussions, they'd come to the conclusion that with her magical pistols she'd be able to shoot holes into it from afar and hopefully eventually cause it to come tumbling down. The only real issue was ensuring that once it did, it didn't cause too much destruction in the process. They had elected to take a couple of days to call in some mages that were defensive specialists to protect the town and protect it from damage upon the beanstalk descending to the ground.

Upon the day of the uprooting, everything and everyone was ready and in place as the ranger loaded both her pistols with as much mana as they were capable of holding, sending two shots into the stem, piercing through the plant and causing it to wobble. Again. Another couple holes. Once more. Further holes. She repeated the shots over and over, her pinpoint accuracy slowly carving a line through the plant until it eventually gave in to gravity. The oversized beanstalk came quickly tumbling down, as the defence mages set up domes to protect the buildings all the way out of the town.

It was still a little destructive, but they had at least managed to minimise the impact and drag the overgrown plant away from the township and into the nearby forest. There, as requested, Haru then approached the plant, careful not to inhale, in case the sickness others had caught spread through spores or the like. Carefully, she would collect a few samples of the stalk for the inspector to continue his research on. Hopefully, they could get some answers as to where it had come from and what exactly it was.
