You know the beanstalk that Khalfani had previously collected samples off of? For Nilan? Yeah apparently there was a big ruckus over it because it was strange- stranger than usual. The beanstalk had potential to eventually wipe out the entire city or something. So, Khalfani made his way to the forest of Orchidia. There he was to meet with Nilan to do more research. At first Khalfani didn't believe that the beanstalk actually posed any real threat, but it was clear that it did when the people of the city all became ill at the same time. So much so that as the commander walked through the city he noticed that there was nobody enjoying the warmth of the sun. How unfortunate, he thought as he stepped through the city with his combat boots and black leather jacket on. He wore sweat pants that had already been dirtied not too long before because was sure he was gonna get all dirty again.

His dagger remained covered on his hip and his shield sat comfortably on his back just in case. You never know what could happen. Nature was truly unpredictable. One moment it looked like it was all gentle and sweet and the next moment a giant vine tentacle was swinging at you ready to chop your head off and drink your blood. So naturally, Khalfani was being extra cautious today. He didn't want to get eaten, he had a damn job to do after all. Up ahead he could see Nilan surrounded by a few other people. Where they all scientists? This could only mean something big. When the spellsword approached the group they seemed to be having dispute about the giant beanstalk. Nilan walked over towards Khal and explained what had happened and what needed to be done. The panther learned in the moments after that the beanstalk was an entity of a source within the forest.

Nilan seemed quite worried about the whole thing. Khal reassured him that it would be dealt with but Nilan was adamant on keeping the plant alive. With a shrug Khalfani nodded. All Nilan needed him to do was retrieve more sample so that they could study it before anything else. Simple enough task as always. Without wasting another droplet of time, Khal made his way deeper into the forest, keeping a look out for anything strange or abnormal besides the plant. As he approached the giant plant he saw glowing green vines protruding from it. It was beautiful, like art, if you will. However, Khalfani then noticed something else. The land around it seemed to be dying. The vines were absorbing mana. Even he could feel it as he got close. This definitely was a problem and would explain why the towns folk were getting sick. Quickly the demi-human scrapped the plant with his scalpel and put the contents in the vial like he did last time. Nilan would lose it when he heard. When he returned he told Nilan what he had seen and gave him the shit. Nilan rewarded him and Khal went on his way.
