Keita usually did not partake in drinking very often, but he had made an exception for his dwarven friend that loved drinking, at least on this night. Currently the pub was quite rowdy and boisterous, and he had already bought a round for everyone there just as he thought he saw his friend Gundar walk into the establishment. “Ahh, finally my friend, welcome! A round of drinks on me to welcome Gundar, the strongest drinker in town.” Keita would say as his friend walked in, which obviously attracted the eyes of the other patrons, and there was a cheer, as this would cost Keita a pretty penny. There were some not so friendly eyes, as if their manliness was challenged at the insinuation that this new dwarf man was somehow a better drinker than they were. This would no doubt have quite a few drunks challenging the dwarf, and since they were already drunk, Keita was going to get them to bet on if they could win.

Ah, something Gundar could actually take part in that was actually enjoyable. The drinking of alcohol. Even the taste of some cheap ale would bring a smile to his face while the spiciest of wine will wear his cold, dead heart. He was currently entering the Swineherd Pub to find his new buddy, Keita that he met when he first joined Eternal Nightmare, not that it was something he would openly tell most people. After all, they were in a fairly known dark guild and it seems they were only respected in the western parts of Fiore. As he entered the pub, he had heard him say something about being the strongest drinker in town, to which Gundar had taken pride in. The other patrons of the bar didn't seem to take a liking to this proclamation of Keita as Gudnar had strolled through the pub in order to find a seat next to him.

What Keita said had worked out perfectly, as there were a lot of unfriendly and rivalry driven stares being thrown into the back of Gundar’s head as he walked over and took a seat next to Keita. Keita pretended nothing was wrong, and if the statement that he had said was a ‘matter of fact’ thing, and simply patted Gundar onmm the shoulder as he took a seat. Since Keita had already paid for a round, the barkeep gave them each a stein of ale, and Keita sipped it. Since this was one of the most popular establishments here, the normal ale was quite tasty, he thought, although he did not drink much because the taste of alcohol was not what he wanted out of a drink. As he sipped on his alcohol, he simply waited a few moments, and sure enough a fairly large man with a bald head came over, seemingly wanting to start something with Gundar.

It seems he was being taken lightly when it came to his drinking skills and he didn't mind being challenged by anybody that was willingly to go toe to toe with him in a drinking contest. A dwarf always knows how to hold their liquor, even the religious types still keep this habit, Gundar has learned. Having the feeling of being stared down didn't make Gundar shy away, instead it made him feel proud that he was being seen as some kind of threat, even if it was only in something as minor as this. When he took his seat, he had been patted on his shoulder which would make a quick smirk appear across Gundar's face, disappearing as quickly as it came. he had lifted his hand up, not saying the word as the bartender had slid down the usual firebrand wine for him to drink. He had been a regular here for a while, even before he had joined the guild. Suddenly, a man approached behind him.

After Gundar sat down, he ordered a specific spiced run that he enjoyed, and Keita looked on with a bit of feigned disgust, as he hated the spiced flavor that reminded him of fake cinnamon. It was like that with everything cinnamon flavored, including candy. Keita was not one that hated cinnamon in general, as he really loved it in other applications, like apple pie, but when it came to alcohol or candy, the flavor seemed… fake, in his eyes. After asking for the wine, Gundar was then approached by the large bald man earlier, and it seemed like Keita’s plan had worked. “Oi, let’s have some drinks. Should be fun to see which of us passes out first.” the bald man said, before slamming his drink down on a nearby table, inviting the challenge to Gundar. Keita was then thinking about how he was going to sneak in a bit of gambling for some profit.

Gundar didn't budge at the man approaching him as he had just gotten his wine and wanted to sample it first in order to get himself in the mood. He didn't know if he was about to enter a bar brawl or a drinking competition but either or was fine with him as he was itching for something to get started as soon as possible. This day however, it seems his fate had laid with having a drinking competition with this fellow, bald patron. Gundar now had taken large gulps of his wine and finished the entire thing in a matter of seconds before putting his cup down. He had then said in a deep, low tone, "You're on." With that, he had gotten up from his stool where he sat near Keita and head on over to the other bald man was slamming his mug onto a table. he didn't know what they were drinking for this competition but it didn't matter.

It seemed that the competition was on, and Keita was banking on the fact that the people around him were going to be angry at Gundar and also overconfident because they were drunk. It seemed that what he said had really struck a nerve with these people, and so he was going to try and use their overconfidence. First off however, he scanned the crowd to see if there was anyone that was watching him, as this plan was not the most foolproof and secretive one, but luckily there seemed to be no one interested in him at all, so he walked up to the two people who were about to compete at the table while signaling to the barkeep. “Well, it wouldn’t be fun if you just drank right? Why not make it interesting? Something small, let’s say around fifty jewels and both tabs paid by the loser?” Keita would ask, as this was really a low amount.

Sitting at the designated seat, the taller bald man had slammed his drink on, Gundar had put both his hands together, wondering and waiting what kind of poison the two of them would be filling their bodies with. As he sat there, he also wondered what kind of full challenges a dwarf to a drinking competition. Don't they know a dwarf's constitution was a lot higher than almost any other race's? It seemed like they didn't have much in the brains department but if they did, most of them wouldn't be drinking their life away in this bar so he shouldn't have been surprised. Keita had then come around and attempted to goad the man into sweetening the pot of this competition. Not only would the winner get bragging rights, they would also be free from their tab on top of getting an extra fifty jewels as a bonus for this. Hearing this only made Gundar flash a condescending smile towards the man, as if to taunt him, clearly expressing doubt that he would take the offer.

The small bits of body language that were going on between the two men were one of the reasons that Keita liked Gundar. He was a no nonsense man most of the time, and he knew how to play into Keita’s personality of using others to get ahead, and this seemed to be increased by the fact that Gundar flashed a goading smile to the large bald man. This infuriated the man, who agreed immediately, throwing fifty jewels onto the table next to him. Keita had already signaled the barkeep, and so he came over and started to pour some extra drinks. The competition would be simple, and it would be ale. There was a dark ale that was slightly stronger than the normal pale ale that most people drank, so it would not end up being a competition to see who could hold more liquid in their stomachs. Keita then watched in anticipation as the two men would start drinking.

It seems the man had played successfully into Keita's hands. This would be a fun event to look forward to as he watched the man become infuriated and feel as if his pride was attacked. With haste, the large man had anteed up fifty jewels for the bet and Gundar reached into his own pockets to do the same thing. Placing fifty jewels onto the table as well, the agreement was made and they would now try and outdrink each other to death. Keita had signaled the barkeeper to let the game begin as a darker ale was being poured into their cups. it seems they were using a large keg of this stuff for the competition no one being could possibly drink or so they assumed. However, Gundar was ready for the challenge as when the barkeep was done, he'd place his hand onto his mug signaling he was ready when the other guy was.

The competition was about to officially begin, and there were quite a few people that were interested in it as both of the drinkers got ready to start chugging. Keita was thinking of taking bets for both people, but there was a time and place for it. He started with a small bet, as he knew that the bald guy would most likely go down pretty early compared to Gundar, and this would only serve to rouse the competitive spirits of the other patrons that were already drinking. All of them seemed to have a macho side that thought that they could win, so seeing someone so easily lose when they were talking a lot of trash before this would most likely cause them to want to prove that they were tougher. That’s when Keita would actually spring into action and make sure that a lot of patrons left with an empty wallet.

With that, the other man had also placed his hand on his mug getting ready to sip. Gundar snapped his fingers, signaling the barkeep to actually begin the countdown for the competition. The barkeep had begun the countdown for the two of them and after the last number as was said, a loud "Go!" could be heard as both Gundar and the bald man lifted their mugs towards their heads and began to chug their drinks. With both of them slamming down their mugs, the barkeeper had been pouring each of their drinks simultaneously and wouldn't serve one unless  both of them were finished. It wasn't about how fast one could drink but how much they could drink and keep it down without throwing up or passing out. It seems they were neck and neck with how much they could drink without feeling any kind of different. Only time would tell who will cave first.

Keita watched as the barkeep came over and was supervising this competition. It became a big event in the pub and so everyone was watching it with interest. There were other servers there that could pour the basic drinks for people, and with most people observing the competition, there was very little need for them anyways. The two of them suddenly started the competition, and they were chugging their drinks, each one of them slightly different than the other in terms of timing. It seemed that the bald man was finishing his drinks first, but that was not necessarily a good thing, as they both had to wait for the other to finish before they would both get served again anyways. This was about endurance, and like Keita had already suspected, the bald man was impatient, angry, and already too drunk to actually think about this as a serious competition. He was bound to lose, and pretty soon, even if others could not see it.

As the two men started to drink, it seemed the other patrons of the bar had began to crowd around the two of them in order to watch the competition. It was just as Keita had planned out or so he assumed not actually knowing what the plan was. Either way, he'd see this through as this was going to be easier than breathing. His opponent had already lost his composure before they even started as even though this was an endurance test, he was chugging them down quickly and waiting for Gundar to finish his. He'll admit, if this was a contest of who could drink more in a shorter amount of time, he'd actually give him a run for his money but this was an endurance test. Chugging them like that would only ensure his ruin faster, nonetheless, Gundar wouldn't exactly be slow to throw them back but he better pace himself.

The two of the competitors would be throwing back the alcohol, the large bald man chugging his quickly, as if that was the only way to show his dominance over Gundar. Keita nodded at Gundar when he showed some restraint, as he was calm and collected drinking the alcohol at a steady pace, which would be better for getting actually drunk, as too much alcohol too quickly would cause one to be inebriated faster, or at least that was his experience so far. Keita had finished his pint of ale and set it back on the counter to better watch over the competition, and it was going to be pretty easy for Gundar to win this, and so he had to plan out his next move careful .He didn’t think that Gundar would act in any particular manner, so he had to take the latter’s personality into account as he was planning to swindle everyone here.

Continuing to drink at his chosen pace, Gudnar had begun to notice the drunk man begin to swerve his upper body as he finished his drinks and waited. It was only a matter of time now. All Gundar had to do was slow down his pace even further as if he could keep the man from performing less actions, he'd pass out from the anticipation. Giving a little sneer, he slowed down the drinking pace a bit further until the next few rounds came. After that, he continued with this strategy as the man began to complain before he slouched over on the table shortly followed by a loud snoring coming from the man. This only made Gundar smile normally by finishing his remaining pint and then one more to have one more drink over the man. After he had finished that one, a loud belch could be heard from Gundar while smiling in triumph.

The bald man seemed to be no match for Gundar, as soon he started to falter, and everyone started making some oos and aahs towards him to see when he would topple over. The time happened quite quickly, as the man eventually slouched over and passed out from the alcohol. After a large burp from Gundar, it seemed that he was still pretty okay with everything, and was met with a bit of a cheer and some clapping. Keita unceremoniously went over to the man and grabbed his money before handing it to the barkeep. “His end of the deal.” Before addressing the crowd once again. “Well, it seems that the strongest drinker wasn’t actually a contest, as I thought.” He would say, shaking his head before motioning Gundar to rejoin him at the bar. In almost no time at all, there was another man, this time a bit more stout and with a goatee that spoke up. “Wait!”

It was a decisive victory for Gudnar as he began to hear the cheering and the clapping coming his way, which admittedly felt pretty good to Gundar. He just chortled loudly as the other bar patrons had continued to cheer for him and his victory. Afterwards, Keita had signaled him to rejoin him back at the bar for most likely what would be more drinks. However, before he could rejoin Keita back at the bar. A voice had called out to him shouting at him to wait. Gundar smirked a bit wondering if another challenge was about to be issued towards him but honestly, he just wanted to hang out with Keita for a little bit and somewhat let the alcohol he already had in his stomach.  He was a proud Dwarf however so he'd take on any challenge no matter how many consecutive challenges come his way, he'd meet them all.

Just as he was walking back to the bar and could see Gundar start to get up out of his seat out of the corner of his eye, Keita realized that his planned worked perfectly as the man yelled at Gundar to wait. It seemed there was a new challenger, but it also seemed that people had no idea that dwarves could somehow process more alcohol than their stomachs could realistically hold, as Gundar looked fine, perhaps slightly buzzed. Keita knew that he himself would have passed out with that much alcohol, as he wasn’t even as good at this as the bald man that Gundar had just defeated. Keita decided that now was the time to strike. “What, you want to challenge him as well? You should know that you have a slightly unfair advantage. I also see that others want to challenge him too, but we can’t have everyone gang up on him at once right? Add one thousand jewels per person after the first.” Keita said confidently.

Folding his arms, Gundar opted not to speak. Instead he'd simply let Keita to the newcomer that would arise to challenge Gundar to another drinking game. As he thought to himself before, he wasn't in the mood to compete, more specifically, interact with anybody else at this time of night other than Keita over here but he wouldn't pass up the opportunity to sucker some chumps out of their hard earned jewels. its like nobody's seen a dwarf before and that sort of makes Gundar feel like he's a rare sort of person. Still, he'd use this to his advantage for as long as he could for it isn't a widely known secret that dwarves seem to have exceptional constitution and endurance. No matter, all he had to do now was take on the next person and win that match too. If he estimated everybody's drinking level to his first opponent, he could probably take on three humans in a drinking competition before hitting his limit.

It seemed that Keita’s declaration sparked a bit of controversy among the people that were thinking of challenging Gundar. There were quite a few people that decided that it was not really worth it at this point, and so they decided to opt out of the potential contest. There were a couple others, however, that thought that Keita was simply saying a fairly ridiculous amount of money for the bet so that they could simply walk away and Gundar was close to losing his composure from the previous competition. There was no reason not to do so, as Keita had a bit of jewels on him, enough to pay these people if they somehow defeated Gundar, but that would take a few people. He seemed really good at keeping his composure as well, so even if he was close, no one would be able to tell. The first interested party couldn’t hold it anymore and decided to try his luck by stepping forward.

It seems the second challenger had stepped forward in testing Gundar's mettle while drinking. This would be the perfect handicap for him as he had already taken on another challenger not too long ago. Looking over towards the table he had just come from, it seems some of the other patrons were trying to slap the man awake so they could at least try and help him get to his place. This made Gundar smirk a bit before nodding at the next challenger's challenge. He decided to deny any further challengers after this one as he just wanted to savor his drinks and didn't get to have his fill of his own favorite brew from this place. After the other patron successfully removed the previous loser from the table, Gundar and his new opponent both sat down on the opposite ends of each other once more and had the bar keeper come over with the same dark ale as last time.

The man stepped forward, he was a smaller guy, but size wasn’t a clear factor of how much alcohol you could have, as Gundar was a definite example of this. As the man walked over to the other side of the table as Gundar, Keita held out his hand, giving a silent confirmation that he was indeed going to take his money. The man nodded and handed over one thousand jewels, and then sat down opposite Gundar. This time it seemed that the guy was a good drinker and more in it for the competition and maybe the money than the harmed ego that a lot of these drunkards seemed to have. Keita counted the money and put it on the table, before taking out his own one thousand jewels and placing it on the table as well. This was essentially him giving reassurance to the other patrons that he was serious about it, allowing them to win if they beat Gundar.

There Gundar was back at it again, battling it out with another patron in a test of endurance. The man had been smaller than Gundar but that was no reason for him to think he could best him by any means. Keeping his wits about him, Gundar had waited patiently until the barkeeper came back with the dark ale. After the barkeep had come back and started pouring the drinks, it was their time to begin the competition. Like the previous opponent before him, this one was downing them pretty quickly. The difference is, this one actually knew how to pace himself better. So Gundar had done the same, the two of them had been drinking for what seems like quite a while with neither of them giving an inch. After a while, it seems the opponent was starting to give out while Gundar had trouble steadying himself. Eventually the challenger had fallen on the table with his face and Gundar once again emerged victorious.

Gundar was going at it again with his same calm and collected pace of drinking, and this time the competitor knew what he was doing, and it seemed that this time it would be a good show. This seemed more of a competition, but less of a rowdy show of how much one could drink, so the crowd was slightly less interested. Sadly, Keita didn't really think that he could rile up the crowd anymore than he already did, so it seemed that this would be the last person that he could fleece out of money. If Gundar was a bit less prideful and could put on a face that showed that he was really drunk, maybe he could have gotten a little more. Keita simply shrugged, he would rather spend the rest of the time simply hanging out with his friend, so this was for the best. After the man fell over, no one else challenged him and they simply drank a bit and chatted before heading out.
