Gundar and Keita had been recruited by a madman by the name of Dr. Stephan Mabuz to test out a couple of hexes. He didn't know or understand the nature of Hexes too well but Gundar knew it was going to be pretty easy to just test them out on unsuspecting civilians that were passing by. First however, they would have to go and meet up with this person. He was a bit of a quack but apparently, he was quite famous in the underworld for his 'research' and today they would be handling some custom made hexes the doctor invented that was supposed to last a lifetime. Meeting up with his buddy and guildmate, Keita, they decided it was time for them to go meet with this madman to see what kind of trouble they can get into. On top of that, see what kind of money they can get out of him for their services.

Keita was a person that attempted to do as much research as he could, especially on the things that might affect him on a day to day basis, such as his own guild. He knew the stories of the guildmates that were here previously, as well as the accolades of the people that were really high up in the guild, or at least as high up as he could find. This meant that he knew about the good doctor Mabus that the two of them were going to meet today, and also knew that the hexes he created were essentially debilitating effects that could kill someone by themselves by making them sick. Unless another mage that was on the good side of the law and had enough of a pool of knowledge saw and treated these things, they would dissipate once the person was dead, leaving no trace. Keita would eagerly walk with Gundar towards their destination.

Arriving at their destination, Gundar and Keita had made it to a rundown building where it seems the denizens of the  Oak would normally frequent. They had gotten weird and suspicious looks from the outcasts of the town but shooting them a rough look made their stares disappear without a trace. Attempting to enter the building, Gundar realized it was boarded up from the front and they had to go through a little side entrance. This made Gundar grunt but it wasn't out of annoyance this time, just minor inconvenience and not seeing it the first time around. backtracking and going into the alley, he didn't bother knocking and decided to just waltz in as if he owned the place. There, he had seen the doctor looking through what Gundar had assumed were research notes in order to conduct whatever strange research his mind was focusing on. Gundar had begun to loudly clear his throat which seems to have gotten the attention of the good doctor.

Keita followed Gundar to a grouping of dilapidated old buildings where the criminals of the city of Oak appeared most often. There, Gundar led Keita to one of the houses that was supposed to hold the strange mage scientist, but of course the front door was boarded up by a bunch of wood. As they were heading to the side of the house to go to another entrance, Keita mused a bit as to why the villainous of the world always seemed to be required to meet up and live in run down old houses instead of nice places. There’s always an argument that the authorities or the good aligned guilds wouldn’t search here, but it would be the first place Keita would search. Regardless, they entered the house and saw the scientist working on… something. Keita wasn’t really sure, but Gundar cleared his throat, hoping to get the man’s attention. Keita was also intrigued about the hexes.

The man had turned around and looked about Keita and Gundar, twiddling his fingers together as he eyed them with a wide grin. Gundar felt a rather sicken feeling going through his body as his own face filled with disgust but he had to power through. Making a grunt and a gesture towards the obvious hexes on his desk the client was in front of, the man had perked and said, "Ah yes, you're the hired minions to test out my hexes, fascinating. Now then, you two be a dear and run and test these for me. Anybody will do, just tell me the results. Even trying them on yourself is feasible," the man had added on the end there. Gundar had made another grunt and decided to just snatch the two hexes from off the table and walk outside in order to test them. He didn't know which one was which or what they even did but he didn't care about the little things. He'd hand one of them to Keita before exiting the building.

The eccentric man suddenly started ranting about how the minions he had ordered were finally here, and that he would need them to test the hexes. The man then went on to say that he was fine with them using the hexes on anyone. Keita frowned at this, as although he was fine with just implicating whoever for wealth and power, there were limits. He would probably not use the hexes on anyone that he deemed to be already downtrodden, especially because he wasn’t sure about what they did. After the man spoke his piece, he would simply go back to doing whatever it was he was doing and left the two of them to sort it out by themselves. Keita walked out of the building after Gundar grabbed the two hexes.. “Let’s split up and do this fast.” Keita would say, swiftly leaving to find some spoiled noble scion to mess with.

Walking out of the building, Keita suggested the both split up to do this quickly and he couldn't agree more at the moment. Splitting off from Keita, he had decided to go find somebody suitable to try these effects on. Since the people outside already looked rather sickly and downtrodden, he figured he would try it on a healthy normal citizen or better yet, a noble. They were rich enough to throw enough money to fix whatever ailment this would give them so he didn't think he'd do much long term damage. First he'd have to go back the way he came, returning to the more upper class part of the town to find a noble gallivanting about with his guard and wife or concubine, Gundar wasn't sure which. Either way, he was living a lavish life so Gundar found a spot out of sight and casted the hex on him. The man had started to walk with a noticeable limp but he hadn't noticed it yet until his lover had pointed it out. Afterwards, Gundar walked away grunting seeing all he needed to, returning to the quack to verbally inform him of the results, collect his payment, waiting for Keita and then leaving.

Seeing Gundar nod and head off to find his own victim to hit with the strange hex, Keita wandered off on his own too. He had a great idea on where to go as well, and headed off to the market district of the area. There were constantly nobles there attempting to get things for extremely cheap, when the lesser known people didn’t know any better. The nobles also used that as an opportunity to flex their own muscles and status by bullying the downtrodden. There were plenty of people that were beaten nearly to death by the nobles every year, and so Keita decided he would just pick a random one in the crowd that he saw. As he got to the market area, he immediately noticed some rich noble’s servants beating a young man, them yelling about the young man trying to scam the noble out of more money than whatever he was selling was worth. So, Keita simply targeted him with the strange thing in his hands, that glowed for a moment before dissipating. The noble started having a visible cough, but simply continued on his day. Keita went back and informed the man before leaving with Gundar.
