Her arrival had herself actually wondering why it was that she was on the way here. Vyra had figured that she would no longer have been within Marigold, that her time of visiting the city, whether it had been for leisure or business, would no longer happen. It was the byproduct of could only be described as fatigue, fatigue that had come from months upon months, visit upon visit to the city that with every respective visit it became more and more apparent that it, the people within it, and everything surrounding it was being corrupted, bred by the plague-like system that was racism, that was disdain towards the people. It was apparent, at one point only just something that had existed within the Theater, a cheap attempt at spurring the reactions of the most volatile and aggressive, to pander to their appeal and for those within the business to carve out their own niche.

The problem came in them producing what people genuinely believed. It was not obvious at first. First disgust and then morbid intrigue, a wondering if people may have genuinely felt this, then a sense of sympathy, understanding of the anger and frustration that had motivated this reaction in the first place. It would get worse then, as that sympathy would turn towards support, believing that whatever it was that they were able to pull as far as a justification would further make manifest, and then it was only a matter of time before they came to start believing it themselves. To where eventually they had made the full transition of having gone from one of the people hating the material presented to instead being one of them that the material was made for in the first place. Worse even, was that at least at first, they were being motivated and swayed by people who were not even believing what they produced, but rather simply playing the role they were given.

That was not to say that there were not those who did not similarly feel that way towards the efforts that the situation was becoming more volatile as it certainly was, but plenty of people had come to think that it were just for performances. However, as time went, those who had morals and refused to comply with the sort of art being performed sought different avenues to perform in, causing a loss in talent, though it also was met by a growing pool of actors and actresses that had begun to go ahead and try their hand, and while it may have been people who sought a start in their performing career, for at least some it did mean that they felt genuine feelings of hatred and contempt towards those people, the same alienated groups that much of the racially charged material was trying to cater towards. Rather than pursuing an acting career, they were trying to turn themselves into the faces of movements they supported.

Some of them were exposed and that was the end of it. But plenty, including those who were both actors and just those looking for a reason and justification to further along their own racist agenda, were never caught. They were allowed to continually perform, and some of them, namely those who weren’t really actors, eventually began to go ahead and become decent actors in their own right. For some, they took that bit of acting success and moved forward with their careers, though many did not find that success, instead being left to remain in Marigold, where while it may not have been as glorious as performing in Crocus to nobles or something of the like, they were able to at least carve out a nice little career within Marigold as a performer. And even better, they were able to further spread their agenda out to whomever it was that they may have one day wanted to teach the racially charged agenda that they had begun to preach so vehemently themselves.

And so here was Vyra, finding herself once again within Marigold, expected to handle a situation that she at this point was ready to be rid of. Yet, this was the sort of thing she was to expect now, especially now with the tattoo upon her thigh. She was Blue Pegasus, and this job, though it may have been one in which she did not agree with, it was a job in which she had been contracted to take, another set amount of jewels that would be going to her upon its conclusion, an amount far more than anything that she had to her personal amount. Never before had it been something that she had to be much mindful towards before, but now having earned a means of making money, this was a factor that she actually had to take into consideration. In a lot of ways, having been in her association with Blue Pegasus as a friend had been a keen blessing in that it allowed her to be ignorant towards all of it. That luxury was gone now.

Now, she was finding herself plagued by the responsibilities that had been left secret from her, much being in her best interests, but nevertheless finding that now as a member, they were thrown upon her. She was ready, somewhat. There had been discussions with other members of the guild, people who were more involved in the backroom affairs of Blue Pegasus, responsible for making sure that neither Alisa was overwhelmed nor that the guild crumbled in her absence. These were the ones that mattered, the ones that Alisa confided in and trusted to handle the more important affairs that she otherwise was not aiming to accomplish on her own. They had given her ideas of what to expect, trying to both be vague as to not overwhelm Vyra, but similarly as well to not sell her a false dream. The balance was difficult to fully appreciate and determine, but it was reasonable to believe that their origins all came from the same point no matter the perspective, trying to not harm – whether through lofty expecations or otherwise – the girl whom Alisa had taken such a fondness towards.

In their preparation though, much was still left to be desired, some of which extended to what was facing her now, being forced to combat against a job that you may not have agreed with. Though she knew that for many in Blue Pegasus, they were afforded the freedom to do what jobs they wanted, as often or seldom as they wished, without much pushback or other reasons to give them the sense of being forced. Vyra, whether it were still her being unused to all of this, fearful of the perception and expectations that awaited her, or just some other reason that she could not quite wrap her head around, she found herself obligated to do what she could, to improve herself as much and as aggressively as she could. And if there had been one thing that she had heard from people who knew Alisa for longer periods than the Demi-Human did, it was Alisa approved of those who were willing to do what they didn’t want to, to branch out from that comfort zone.

And as she sat upon the bench just outside of the Marigold Theater, she thought to herself how dumb of an idea that was. Vyra knew that Alisa would have been proud of her regardless. It was a reality that she had begun to recognize and found it as much foolish to believe that it weren’t true. She was different from many of the Blue Pegasus wizards and mages that were among the ranks. While all of their paths may have differed in some manner or another, how those people had gotten into the guild would have grossly varied, and very few could have been able to do the same route as how Vyra walked, having been personally introduced to the guild by Alisa, being able to live there, building up a lifestyle that was such a contrast to what she had once endured, and then getting the chance to finally join personally via Alisa. It was not hard to imagine that among the people whom have been in the guild from one point in time versus another, seldom few ever walked the same road that she had.

Exactly how she envisioned dealing with this corruption, it was hard to figure that there would be any sort of easy solution. The reality was more that this was something that just was going to plague Marigold for years likely, unless there was something so drastic as to utterly destroy everything around Marigold, or at the minimum at least towards the Theater. It was here after all that this was becoming the central area where all of the racism was being spewed, where it was being determined, and she knew it, everyone seemed to know it, but yet there wasn’t anything that could have been done, at least as far as people may have seemed like it to be. But, once that issue were dealt with, the idea of building back the society that had once existed would be something that was far more manageable. In some ways, even Vyra could not help but think that perhaps the more violent approaches would have been something that stood to work best. If it required revolution to change Marigold, maybe that should have been how they approached it.

That could have been a task assigned to someone else. Vyra was Blue Pegasus, and to set something as iconic and important to Marigold as the Theater was, that was not something that she could envisioned being justified no matter how she may have wanted to rationalize it. Nor could have Alisa either. The fact was, that even though she likely would have been given greater fliexiblity than most of the members of Blue Pegasus, even those who were far more senior than she was, there was no way to reasonably figure that the violence that would have come out of that would have been something that could have looked favorably upon. Even further, the ramifications that may have come to Blue Pegasus, it may have been something that nobody would have been able to remedy, not even Alisa. No, while Vyra would have liked to handle this issue in a way that made the racists suffer for what they deserved, she had to approach this differently.

The approach she had often taken was one that she had found to work surprisingly well, albeit one that the success chances were getting worse and worse as time went. It would only be a matter of time before eventually someone caught on that upon her visits to the Marigold Theater that there would be a growing decline in available productions ready. However, while there were certainly many that were had begun to put the dots together, the reality was that every script that was being ruined, even the ones that were and weren’t racist only meant that there would be a new script to replace it, a chance for some new director or producer or actor to get their chance to sit within the limelight. It was largely a calculated risk, one that often times may not have paid off for anyone, but it was still a gamble that they were willing to take.

Until she was stopped though, Vyra was going to continue doing exactly what she had been doing, knowing that it was a method that worked, and if those who were opposed to the more racist art that was being produced were as true as they claimed to be, it would mean that efforts to stop the new backlog to be loaded with racist works should have been working. Whether or not it were the case, that wasn’t something Vyra was too focused upon at the moment. Rather instead it was just the idea of getting out of there safely, not stressing too much about being caught as there would be few who believe that the girl who helped them once upon a time would continue to return over and over again to simply deface some play scripts. While they were all the willing to allow her to operate in ignorance, she would continue to do just that, and like the times before, by the time she was gone, it came as quickly as it had begun, with her already on the way out.
