Don’t think about the impending economic disaster.
Just.. nah. Nothing wrong. There can’t be any economic disaster if no one notices the shit state of your coin. So as long as people remain stupid as shit, nothing bad will ever happen. After all, the coin is just too big to fail. So are the banks.
What was this about again? Ah yes, Water Samples. And by this point, Bucket woke up back to reality, noticing that he had taken the vials into his hands without even remembering it and had been, this entire time, staying silently in front of her while she ranted about marine life, her gripes with pollution, the whole nine yards. Thankfully, she seemed to be as much of a scatter-brain as he is.
Helping her was also easy at least, which also meant that she had more than enough space in her mind/attention to talk MORE about the failings of the law when it came to the protection of marine wildlife and how culture seemed to just not respect the waters, even though they were essential to the city.
By the way, the samples came up with obvious results: mild pollution, mostly from magically-processed garbage that had broken down to a micro-level. Somehow, this felt familiar. Bucket didn’t dwell on it.
Instead, he argued that law shouldn’t be changed to save the sea, but that people should be persuaded to do so instead first, as to prevent any possible backlash and stupid manifestations where people do the exact opposite of what the government says. Raina argued, reasonably, that such backlash would be monumentally dangerous and stupid. Bucket agreed. It WOULD indeed be monumentally stupid to do something so reckless and disrespectful, especially considering that nature had done nothing to deserve the mistreatment it already suffered, much less the angry bullshit of dumb shits who do it just to ‘get back at the man’, which is exactly why that’s the exact thing that would happen.
Ah, also, she had finished with the water samples.
With everything done, he thanked her for the work and her words of wisdom and, in exchange, she thanked him with cold, hard, (barely valued) cash. For now, they went their own way, maybe to meet up again soon enough.
