Kaito

Kaito had seen a small cat girl or so he thought wondering around the city with an umbrella and he wondered if she was expecting rain or if she was expecting trouble to rain down on her. He wondered why they were here and what they may be looking for as he saw some shadier people among the populist as of late he wondered if she might be part of a budding cult or something but they looked more like everyday people so he expects they are to look covert and not raise eye brows. He followed the woman with himself using an invisibility spell unsure if she knew she was being tailed by Kaito who was invisible or not waiting for her to more or less corner herself so they can have a “chat.” As she seemed to be chatting to other people but he was not listening in on their conversations.

Kaito wondered if he was really doing the right thing tailing her but he figures he rather be safe than sorry and if this girl was up to no good it was just plan better to know now and deal with her before she causes any kind of actual damage to the north or it’s people.

Ashley had managed to get a day to themselves, away from Lotus, which meant they could finally get down to business. It wasn't their first time in the mining town, having been sent out here previously by their father to deliver messages back and forth on occasion. It was, however, the first time they'd had time to properly greet the residents and gather the local gossip. Whilst much of it was simply useless, occasionally there was some hidden truth behind the mutterings of the common folk.

Completely unbeknownst to them, they were being followed, they were only capable of observing the visible, not the invisible. During their rounds they spied a fellow, wearing a similar ring to their own, a contact. They'd stop them on the street, looking to be having a casual conversation, even sounding as such if they were simply exchanging pleasantries if one were to eavesdrop. A coded language. One of small gestures and shifts in body language combined with the words themselves as they shared what information they could without going into too much detail in the middle of the street.

Once they were done, they bid each other farewell. Ashley tipped their hat to their fellow comrade before waltzing off to the edge of the crowd, slipping into an alleyway, as they moved towards their next location.

Kaito figures he had seen enough from just watching the person and how they were acting. He gets in front of them so that they will bump into him. His spell ends and he becomes visible again. "Oh what was that about huh little… miss?" he looked down at her and he wonders if they are about to hit him with their umbrella and try a futile escape from a man that can grab them by the scruff of their neck from a distance if they did try.

"You know who I am right?" He moves his hand and his sword appeared on his waist and he rests his hand on the handle of his sword. "Start talking and sill what you told that other person just now." He is trying to act a bit tougher just in case she is a spy or working with what remains of the vampires that were in the north that tried to kill them.

*Bump*

Ashley stepped back, eyebrows creasing. Their body tensed, hand tightening on their umbrella, preparing for a fight. They glanced up towards the obstacle that appeared out of thin air. Only as their magenta eyes focused did realisation strike them. That face, incredibly familiar that it took but the briefest of moments to recognise. Well, they certainly were running into all the bigwigs lately.

Their body language shifted into a much more relaxed posture as they openly sighed. Loudly. They had nothing to fear from someone on the same side of the law as their own guild. A small amount of them regretted not having their guild tattoo in an easier place to flash and display in moments like this. It would definitely help with all these people that kept growing suspicious of them.

"Well, a pleasure to meet you too, Mr. Todaro."  They muttered sarcastically. A small smile formed on their lips as they now exuded confidence, "Don't you know it's rude to pry into the business of others?"They asked, but thinking on the details they did know about him, that wouldn't be enough to convince the man to leave them be, "But if you insist, I was simply exchanging pleasantries with an old friend. Nothing more. I swear it on my honour as a member of Collective Mind."

He did not like that she just called him by his last name. "You can just call me Kaito, don’t call me by my last name or with mister. Who are you?" He saw that she had indeed reached for her umbrella at the sight of him but relaxed when she had released who he was which made him sigh as it seemed his cover was blown.

"Do I really look that dumb to you or something." he points his palm at her as he can just makes this interview on his own turf if she wanted to be less than helpful. He heard the woman speak of honor of being a member of collective mind. "Do they have honor in their ivory tower in the sky?" He did not know much about that guild but he has heard some strange rumors about it and how they operate and carry themselves. Kaito sends her into his personal domain then he follows her in. "Well if I were you I would spill my guts fast."

Ashley raised their umbrella, about to gently push his palm away from them, knowing full well what kind of destructive power the man possessed. They hadn't intended to anger him.

"No surname, got it, Kaito it is, I was simply trying to be respectf- AH!." They screeched as they were pulled away from the alleyway and into the man's 'personal domain', "Geez a little warning next time maybe?" They sighed, straightening themselves up as they looked around, "What a bizarre place..." They clicked their tongue, ignoring Kaito momentarily memorising every little detail before finally shrugging at him.

"I guarantee you, we most assuredly have honour. I have no idea what you're insinuating, I really was just greeting an old friend, well..." They paused, "A friend of my father's really, I suppose. Although, I doubt you know of him, given his tendencies to avoid people like you." They stared up at Kaito blankly, "I really have done nothing wrong." They blinked, already over this whole conversation as a thought popped into their mind.

"I mean if you're really that uncertain, I already had the pleasure of meeting a good friend of yours, Mr. Starlight. I'm more than confident he would vouch for me." They looked down at their wrist, fixing one of their cufflinks that had come undone at some point.

"Yeah I guess I really should have given you some warning as that is a strange feeling to just go like that." He laughed softly at the fact that she made the scared noise at them going through to his domain. "Also being respectful usually means asking for someone’s name not just blurting out their name. You are not a butler in a fancy house that needs to greet me." he patted their head as he knows he did in fact go a little over board wrapping her into this place like he had done.

The place was half cloaked in darkness and the other side clad in light the darkness was a grassy field with stars in the sky that almost looks like a mosaic in the sky along with the moon and summon wither side. The light clad side was a beach with water flowing and coming in and out with the relaxing sound of waves lapping at the sand. There is a small home right on the boundaries between the two areas half clad in darkness and light. "Welcome to my world."

"I think a lot of people avoid me for reasons even I can not control. By mister Starlight are you referring to Yuurei? Yeah he is strong enough to just laugh and act like nothing is wrong and let people just run around and do as they please cause if they step out of line he can swiftly put them back in line. I am not Yuurei, I do not possess that kind of power." He sighed and he took off his mask as it seemed that this woman already knows him and probably more than he would like someone to know him. "Sorry if I did indeed go over board, but sometimes it pays to be paranoid." he takes a seat on the ground looking at her.

"I still don’t think you have said your name either miss. All I really know of Collective mind is that they are lead by The man that failed to take on Eternal Nightmare as well as the failed Leader of Empyrean Divine. Where is your guild mark anyways?" He knows his words probably seemed harsh but he was not trying to be harsh but that is really all he knew or had heard of the guild that she claimed she was in. He wonders if he can trust this person as this was a lot to hear and just made a lot of questions come to his mind about who or what and why she was doing what she was doing.

"I don't think it's your place to judge another's successes or failures, at the very least they tried, which is more than most." Ashley remarked a little snarkily, they were quite irritated by being unwillingly whisked away, even if the location was rather extraordinary, "And who else could I possibly be referring to? Starlight isn't exactly an incredibly popular name, and from my minimal understanding you don't have a lot of friends." They spat, closing their eyes as they sighed.

Without a word they glared at Kaito as they began to remove their half-cape, unclipping it from the front and letting it fall to the ground. Ignoring any questions as to what they were doing, they'd slip out of their jacket as well before moving onto their blouse, pulling it over their head and knocking their hat a little askew.  

Still holding his gaze, they'd pull at their bowtie, throwing that onto the ever-growing pile of clothing as well before moving onto their shirt, beginning to undo the buttons and tossing that to the side as well. Leaving them in just their shorts, shoes and an incredibly plain skin-toned bra before finally twirling around on one foot and pointing with their thumb to their left shoulder blade. There a magenta-coloured symbol sat plain as day.

"Happy now?" They turned their head, to glare at him again. It wasn't like they were embarrassed about taking off their clothes, it was just so much goddamn effort to do so, "And if you must know, it's Ashley. I'd say call me Ash, but I'm afraid only people I like are allowed that privilege."

"Thing is those are not my words, but words I heard. I know of two people with that last name, one being Yuurei and the other is Ghost of fairy tail. Three I may have more friends than your intel knows of." he watched as the woman started to strip and he is confused why she is stripping like this with out any kind of warning.

"You know you could have just told me where it was you did not need to show me. Nor strip in front of me like I was holding you at weapon point." he gently got her clothes up off of the ground and dusts them off handing them to her. "You have a nice name by the way, do you want help redressing or you okay with doing it yourself?" his voice is clearly asking if she needed help nothing behind it or scheme to be seen. He had not thought she would have stripped like that but he didn’t seem fazed by it as he understood why she had done it and it wasn’t in a trying to seduce him manner.

"Sorry if I have put you out by bringing you here just figured you would maybe speak more if I brought you to somewhere out of the public." he thought about what he had just said and he looks at her blinking. "Sorry that came out a little bad." Kaito’s sword disappeared as he moved his arm again as he clearly had no use for the sword at the moment as he was not fighting anyone nor did he think this woman would want to take him on in that kind of way anyways. "Also is that umbrella you carry a personally made weapon or an outside hand made?" he was interested in the craftsmanship he had seen on the piece.

Ashley snatched away the clothes, disgusted he had even touched them.

"I am more than capable of dressing myself." They growled, slowly redressing. One. Piece. At. A. Time. For the first time in a long while they had regrets about wearing so many layers. As they finally fastened their caplet over their shoulders, completing their outfit once more they'd clutch at their umbrella tightly, his insistent questions testing their patience.

"I believe I have answered more than enough questions to satisfy your curiosity." Ashley scowled, done with this entire conversation, "You have got to be the daftest person I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. A word of advice, if you want someone to talk to you properly, try being a little nicer. Forcing someone of lower standing than yourself into your pretty little dungeon," They gestured around the place, "Is a complete abuse of your power. I thought the people of Fairy Tail were supposed to be upstanding citizens not interrogators of innocent civilians. Clearly, you are correct, I have been misinformed."

They glared angrily, there was nothing they could do except use their sharp tongue and wits. No way to overpower him. No easy escape. All they could do was attempt to push him into a corner of guilt for his actions. If he wanted to keep them locked up they could, it wouldn't be Ashley that would receive backlash upon their father discovering why they disappeared.

"Good cause if I can I rather not risk accidentally touching you with my curse." his tone was sincere as he was not trying to risk some one else getting that to happen to them in the end it was a bullet dodged for himself as he did not need to be doing such things.

"I guess you are right I have asked a lot of things I guess it was more that I now know you are not a threat or attempting some cult thing or trying to help the vampires I had wished to learn more about you." he is not seemly worried that the woman is angry at him as he understands the feeling of someone just minding there own business when everything just crap seems to hit the fan and throw every out of whack. "You are of lower standing than I am? I am pretty much a homeless wander not sure you can be of lower standing than I am." he laughed as it was him joking with the woman. "Also this is not a dungeon this is a personal dimension."

Revy walks out of the small home that was there hearing the commotion. "You will need to excuse him, he is a bit of an odd ball and if you think fairy tail members are upstanding you are a bit mistaken. They are a group of oddballs under the leadership of probably one of the sweetest and kindest women ever." Revy got up to the woman and she looked her over. "Are you harmed or anything miss?" Revy is thinking if she needs to go get a first aid kit or not to tend to the woman’s injuries.

Kaito hadn’t harmed her physically maybe he scared her a bit but it is like he attempted to do anything to her and he is confused to if maybe he had done something further wrong then he thought he had as this woman seemed very irate for him pulling her into a safe space to talk.

Ashley had been so confident he would release her from this place, yet here they still stood, causing them to click their tongue. Irritating. Their sharp eyes, narrowed down as a fellow feline, only much smaller, approached. The famous Kaito's companion, Revy, no doubt, but given how upset Kaito had been overusing their name, they didn't want to risk revealing they knew this too.

"No matter how much of an 'oddball' one may be, it does not excuse one's behaviour." Ashley retorted curtly, they shot a look down towards the exceed, not the same glare they had when looking at Kaito, but still assertive. Dominating, "Other than my dignity, I remain unscathed." They reassured the feline, who obviously was far more caring for their current situation. A change of tactic. They took to one knee, lowering themselves to Revy's height. Ignoring Kaito's words.

"I will have to send a letter to said guild master, over this incident. I'm sure you understand." their face softened now, it wasn't like they were going to spread rumours or go to the papers over this. They simply wished for righteous punishment. Consequences equivalent to his actions, "I suggest you keep him in better check in the future though, not everyone is as reasonable as I am in such circumstances. He may be powerful, but even power can only let one get away with so much." A delicately worded warning that he should be more careful who he traps in a corner.

Revy looked at the woman and raises an eyebrow. "He, this masked doofus harmed your dignity? What did he do say you were pretty? Cause I know he probably didn’t lay a finger on you." the exceed listens to the woman keep carrying on and saying she was going to write a letter to the guild master of fairy tail and Revy has to hold back a laugh. "Either you are rich or very self important. You can write that letter and spew your half truths but the second that guild master sees it you might be the target of something else." She looks the woman up and down as she has no seemingly apparent injuries. She wonders if this woman is maybe what the merchants call a “Karen” any small inconvenience will set them off for the whole day and they will return to the spot of this grave injustice everyday till lead off by guards and banned from an area.

"You are acting like he full contact kidnapped you, tied you up and started torturing you for info. But knowing him he saw you acting shady, he followed you, waited till you were alone in a side alley then showed himself, asked a question, you refused and then he brought you here in case of listening ears so if you said something you wouldn’t be assassinated. Was I close? " She knows how Kaito works he is big and scary looking but he is not one to harm some one innocent and really he some times does go to far like capturing an innocent person but Revy’s nose is not so sure this woman is fully innocent as there is a scent of deception and other things on this demi-human woman that tells her she might not be too far off about her and what had happened as she even spoke of how she was going to bend the truth of what happened in a letter which means she wanted to control the flow of info on this maybe a broker or a wolf caller?

"You do not need to lay a hand on someone to break them." Ashley tutted, they had thought the feline would be more reasonable, but they were just as stubborn, if not more so than the man himself. With a sigh, they'd stand up, towering over the exceed, rather than remaining on their level, "I along with the law I imagine would count forcibly dragging someone who can in no way fight back into his own 'personal dimension' as kidnapping and an abuse of their power, no?"

"I don't really know what I did to be considered 'shady' as you can see," They gestured to themselves, "I am hardly a threat, I can't even use magic, and when I answered his questions, truthfully mind you, he simply didn't wish to believe me due to his own paranoia." None of their words were lies, sure they had intentionally left out some minor details,  but given the circumstances, anyone put in their position would be rightfully upset. Imprisoning people when you didn't even have a shred of evidence against them, simply because of a vague feeling, what utter nonsense.

"Oh oh yeah that totally makes all the difference, he was totally in the wrong you are right, though I do have a question to you. During this whole incident did you stop and go remain calm and use your brain I mean besides the leaving out details part. Did you just talk to him and ask him to please let you out or say we can talk else where?" Revy looks at the woman as for some reason this cat woman seemed to be being very stuck up like she may have slightly woken up half an itch to the left farther than she was comfortable and now he whole day is ruined by this some slight on her life.

Kaito pats Revy on the head then he looks at the woman. "Hmmm It sounds like I need to make it fair then?" Kaito stands up to his full six foot four height and he drops his cloak to the ground as well as his mask and he lets his hair down. He then grabs the bottom of his black and red sleeveless shirt and he lifts it up off of his body and over his head revealing his beaten up and scarred body and his full bandaged arms he drops the shirt into the pile then he moves his hair off of his back resting his hair over his left shoulder and he turns his back to her and points at a huge and semi-nasty looking scar which goes from the top of his right shoulder and goes across to the bottom left of his lower back.

"This is from the day that I was freed from where I was held by my master. Is that a fair enough trade for you to calm down and stop saying I am some creep and that I kidnapped you and you need to tell my guild master on me?" He turns back around still shirtless and he is looking right into her eyes waiting to see what she will say back to him about if this was a fair trade for her to relax or if she was going to keep up the act and sharp tonguing him like she was some kind of lizard or frog fluttering it's tongue wildly for flies.

"Have you ever cornered a creature and not have it snap at you or cower in fear?" Ashley spat back at the exceed. Fight or flight. A response that was inside every creature when in danger. The feline felt trapped, of course, they lashed out, at least they had used words. Their fists clenched, they had been fighting every instinct in order not to punch Kaito. Not only would it be futile, the mage could easily stop them, it would only give him more reason to keep them his prisoner here.

"What are you-" They paused, a little shocked by his actions, this wasn't what they had intended, they simply wanted to leave, "That's not..." They sighed, pinching the bridge of their nose at his stupidity, they could feel a headache coming on, it was like dealing with Lotus and Dex combined, but at least they could be fun.

"I wasn't planning on getting compensation, I just want to leave." They sighed again, this time, much more tired than before, "If I promise not to send a letter will you release me?" They asked, as politely as they could, as Revy had suggested, there was no way he could say no to that, surely?

Kaito nods and puts his shirt back on. "Sounds fair enough to me, where would you like to be let out too? The info bureau? The same dark alley I followed you into or maybe near a restaurant so you can get some lunch or maybe a special." Kaito had made himself a little hungry by bringing up lunch, he wondered if he felt like cooking or if he more felt like just eating out at a place.

Revy blinked and got closer to Ashley and she gently taps the woman’s leg and mouths the words thank you to her for just doing the dumb request and asking. "Well where ever you are going be safe miss and sorry again for the inconvenience he may have caused you. His heart is in the right place but some times his brain is worlds away from him." she giggled and held out a bag of snacks to Ashley in case she needed something to snack on later where ever she decided to go to from here and she hopes Ashley doesn’t start any bad rumors about Kaito, I don’t think he needs those kind of things flying around cause he is already struggling enough with if he should every let himself be with some one and rumors of him assaulting a woman will not help with that.

Ashley was taken a little aback by the exceed's sudden shift in attitude. Did she just 'thank' them? Clearly, they had just been taking his side, doing and saying those things for fear of their friend being harshly punished. Well, it wasn't like they themselves had been especially amicable, but given the situation, Ash felt well within their rights to be upset. They waved a hand, rejecting the offer of snacks. Not wishing to owe these two anything, even something as small a treat. They felt their clenched fists unfurl.

"I am more than fine with being returned to the alley where you picked me up." They muttered, their voice deflated, a sense of defeat. At least he was finally going to release her. Had they met under better circumstances, they would have loved the opportunity to visit and explore this place, but right now they just wanted to get back to what they had been doing. They had to finish up quickly so as to return to Lotus in a timely manner, so their sister wouldn't complain too much.

Kaito nods his head as he dressed again as she had chosen the alley in which he had found her in and he moves his hand and opens the portal to the place he had taken her from and he goes out of the personal domain with her and he starts to walk away from her. "Have a good day Ashley." The Exceed in his hood waved and ready to go and get some decent lunch cause Kaito had decided he was not going to cook so they were gonna eat out. Revy is talking to Kaito about where she wants to go and she wants some fish and maybe some sushi. Kaito is going to try some deep fried ice cream that he had heard about but had never gotten around to trying it and he figures it will be good and enjoyable. Revy hopes the other woman is going to be okay or at least stay out of trouble.

Ashley said nothing in return, simply tipping their hat before finally fixing it properly upon their head. They took a deep breath as they watched Kaito and Revy take their leave, disappearing from sight. They were finally alone again, thankful that they had managed to come out unscathed.

Their body visibly relaxed, not realising how tense they had truly been. They would have to be more careful. There were a lot of dangerous people in this world, even those that they had thought of as righteous were potential enemies. Now back to their task at hand so they could return to Lotus.

A meeting with a much more powerful contact of their fathers than the one they'd happen to meet on the street. Slipping through alleyways they'd take the shortest path until they stood before the meeting location, a flat stone wall with no doors, no windows. A quick knock on a particular stone, a muttering a word under their breath, a doorway revealing itself for but a second as they slipped inside before disappearing once more.
