So, I have been proposing this for a few months now, and every time it gets shut down. The reason behind it makes sense, if people stood as a mod for years and did no work.

I proposed that, IF you stay a moderator for a whole year and did the work every month, you gain a free Mythic Custom.

I see it as fair especially when in the year and a half that I've been here the longest I've seen someone as a staff member is probably 4-6 months.

I've been told that it wouldn't be fair and the community would see it as a biased thing to do, but shit for the work the 2 of us do, I think the community would see it fair as the appreciation of staff keeping the flow going.

Also, it doesn't mean that a staff member joins in December and gets a free mythic, it's more like hey you were staff on 6/21/22, and now it's 6/21/23. You have been grading every month here's your reward for your hard work and effort to keep the flow going on the site.

So, what I'm asking is what do you guys think about it? Do you guys feel it would be biased if moderators get a mythic custom for working for this site for a year or does it seem fair or is it possibly too small of a reward for the work we put through a yearly quarter?

I think if people are modding only for the purpose of getting rewards they're bad staff.

Every other site I've been on, you get no reward.

EDIT: I also dislike the way you're trying to frame votes with the kind of language used in your options?

Statements like "You don't deserve more for the work you do" inherently make people feel like 'The Bad Guy' to select it.

A simple yes or no would suffice.

I think its deserved because I've been harassing Kaito with non stop questions for 2 weeks straight now and it'll be nice to know he gets something for it. I'm just one of many who probably pelts him with extra work. Sides right now there are only 2 mods and like Toge said, no one usually breaks past 6 months. Incentive doesn't hurt. I really don't see why compensation is a big deal when they are working so short staffed but the site is still running. plus its barely any different from "complete this # of post to get this". We run down tasks to get rewards for our characters, mods just have different tasks to complete in order to earn theirs. Anyone still fuming or think this is bias? go ahead and apply to be a mod. Let me see if you get that "free" mystic in a year.

Well I think a fair reward would be a case of knowing what they actually get for what they do already?

But they haven't exactly been transparent with the facts there have they?

They've barely acknowledged that they already get paid for doing stuff, and then told us that they don't think it's enough?

Funny thing is, I've never seen anyone else coming to 'the people' because they don't think the rewards they're getting is fair?

Understood, I would change the polls to fit your liking, but I can't :(

It isn't just people modding for the sole purpose of getting rewards.

Like I get it if that is the case, but it's not like I'm saying, hey Sofia if you grade 100 things you get this as your reward.

In the end, it's an appreciation over anything. I'm not working here to grade to get rewarded, but I'm suggesting that it should be a nice reward for a yearly thing.

It also promotes people to actually be staff, and do the work. Kaito and I have been the only ones doing the work for this site for about 3-4 months now.

I could come around to the idea I suppose, but a mythic custom feels like a real big game item?

I think perhaps the discussion should be "Do staff deserve a Yearly Bonus?" without a specific reward in mind? Maybe I could vote more for that than the best custom thing you can get?

I mean the thing behind that is yes a Mythic Custom is a big game item. Still, we put it up or something of equal value in the giveaways every now and then.

I don't think a Mythic Custom is that big of a thing people make it seem when it's for something someone needs to work for 12 months to even achieve.

There is nothing else I think would best to reward a mod for their 12 months of service on this site.

Honestly, If staff still has the payout from before, most jewels come from character apps and spells & there doesn't seem to be many of those kinds of apps these days, so hey, why not? I'm Not against it, it gives incentive and incentive is always good. There should be a thing where like you gotta be staff for at least six months to get the yearly reward or something.

Base staff payout is 250,000 + Mythic yearly = 8M value yearly for being staff, just to put that out there.

If most folks are opposed to a Mythic custom, maybe a yearly 2.5 Mill bonus?

I have one word for this: No.

MOST sites that I've been on haven't had a reward scheme at all for being a staff member and while yes that's part of the reason you get people to come in and out this is not the direction that needs to happen. All it'll do is make people do the bare minimum for a year, get their mythic and bounce.

#10Go D. Drakkon

Yes, same, most sites I've been on don't give out rewards, and you know what I see with those sites? The moderators barely do any work. They choose when they work and like barely work.

For example, they will be like ehh 10 things in the review well I will grade on Sunday if it's still there. Sunday comes, and it's still there, they only grade 3 things, and the other 7 are stuck there, bleeding into the next week.

It's why a lot of sites end up being small communities because a lot of people leave due to the staff's consistency.

I mean the talk of bare minimum is better than nothing done at all. A lot of the people on the staff here cannot be staff for more than 3-4 months even shorter. If the bare minimum is grading 10 things per month, then so be it. I rather that then it fall on 2 people who have to grade 20+ things each per month.

As opposed to what exactly? Do the bare minimum for 3 months and bounce? If there are only two mods on staff atm because many people don't desire to stay, shouldn't we find a way to promote motivation.

If you worry they will leave after the year then we can add a penalty for it. Striping said mystic after a said amount of time. But if as Zayir stats, there being a lack of revenue and incentive to stay, are we going to burn out the few mods we have and bet on their labor of love forever?

I don't understand why we keep dragging in what happens in other sites as if the environment is uniform everywhere. We need to address this site and this site alone in this discussion.

If you worry for lack luster work, then to be eligible for the reward a quota can be created. Moding for 1 year is just the first requirement. A consistent mod activity check can be another.

Thing is that it's really not up to the members to decide this for staff or something that they can really justify when getting a mythic itself is already difficult. If staff have been declining this for months they have a reason for it and it's better taking it up with them.

Most sites do not have a heavy focus on items and most sites including this one have a small consistent community with people coming in and out. The only thing adding this reward will do will make people feel like staff is just giving itself rewards that are already difficult to get. I'm not saying staff work is easy but this is not the direction that staff rewards needs to take.

Yeah, we're off-topic, the reason it's being denied is because they think it's biased if we get a Mythic custom for the hard work we do for the site.

My question was legit this: Do you guys think it's biased if we, the moderators, get a Mythic Custom for doing mod work for an entire year.

A year is hardly an easy feat to meet in the first place. Staff could hardly break 3 months. As for the item in question, as Zayir mentioned. If the mystic is too much and what is holding the topic back, then another reward can be discussed. It does not have to be as well regarded as a mystic, though it would be nice if it was something.

I would leave this up to the staff if there was any left to even take on the matter. I just see this as a matter of agreeing on incentive and a goal for mods to work toward. If anyone could apply, then it does not seem so out of reach for regular members if they decided they want to take on the challenge.

Yeah, while I'm still not too keen on the idea of encouraging people to staff just for rewards, I do think people should be given more for work/loyalty, especially now I know what you guys are getting?

I agree with Zayir that maybe a lump sum bonus would work best? It's always useful, and you can use it as you wish?

I mean if ya don’t like the fact of mythic custom being given as a bonus, then how about something along the lines of a free mysterious merchant item regardless of its availability

or

a free modification slot for those who don’t want to ascend or restart their characters.

So as one of the longest-standing staff members, the appeal to reward staff members whether they are moderators, administrators, developers, etc due to their retention as within their role feels to me ultimately self-serving, and with the currently proposed suggestions end up with members seeking to become a moderator rather than for the betterment of the community but only to improve their own standing within the site as a character which I find a bit off-putting to be frank. While I do commend any and all staff members for the work that they do complete simply by being here for a long time, in my opinion, something like this should not be implemented. So there is a case of full transparency when it comes to existing rewards that staff can choose to claim, I have quoted the current staff payroll.

Naga wrote:

Review

Review moderators receive a standard salary of 250,000J per month. Should administrators decide that the moderator has not been active enough in their staff duties, the salary will not be paid. This covers actions such as approving quests, rewarding quests, approving shop purchases, processing shop purchases, and more.

In addition, Reviewers get paid for reviewing characters, custom items, and spells.
  • 50,000J per character application completely reviewed, assisted, and approved.
  • 50,000J per custom item completely reviewed, assisted, and approved.
  • 25,000J per spell completely reviewed, assisted, and approved.

Furthermore, Quest and Shop review goes under a special Reward system. It will be received depending on the moderator's amount instead of per. This requires a person to approve at least ten things during that month.

  • 4 Statistic Potions or 4 Mana Vials

If things are posted up in the discord server then these rewards are forfeited.

It can be tempting to quickly go over them to approve them as fast as possible for jewels, however, jewels will be deducted if we find clear indications that there were things missing in the approval process.

Use the template below claim the monthly mod work and salary.

Code:
[list]
[*]url (Character)
[*]url (Character)
[*]url (Custom Item)
[*]url (Custom Item)
[*]url (X spells)
[*]url (X spells)
[*][b]Total:[/b] X Jewels (salary not included)
[/list]

Development

Developers receive jewels for content that gets approved for use. This is to prevent developers from dumping a barrage of content that is not going to be used at all for the sake of farming jewels. Since there are no daily actions to be performed, Developers do not receive a standard salary. Below is a list of actions that may be rewarded:
  • 25,000J for going through a content topic and pointing out general fixes and grammar fixes.
  • 50,000J for going through an event topic and pointing out general fixes and grammar fixes.
  • 100,000J for new quests that are finished and approved to be added to the quest directory.
  • 150,000J for new items, magics, and companions that are approved to be added to the shop.
  • 200,000J for new events that are approved to be added to the event quests.

Similar to reviewers claiming their rewards, developers can use the template below to claim theirs:
Template:
Code:
[list]
[*]url (Approved Item)
[*]url (Approved Request)
[*]url (Approved Magic)
[*]url (Approved Event)
[*]url (Approved Event)
[*][b]Total:[/b] X Jewels
[/list]

Note
  • Special Reward: As a thanks for staying around and being active, on a Staff's Anniversary, they will receive a 50% Off Lupin Coupon! This requires you to also pass the Bonus Activity for the year.
  • Please note that only Administrators can reward salaries and payouts. Furthermore, Administrators can't reward themselves and require another Admin to do that for them.

I appreciate the transparency. It makes things seem more understandable to draw on proper conclusions. What do you suggest going forward in inspiring mods to stay as long as yourself?
If all these things are a available I can understand not implementing more.

That 50% Lupin Discount isn't the answer for the end of the year bonus. I'm just saying; It can be self-serving because if we bring it up as a reward of course a part of it is thinking of ourselves. I can't say I'm not thinking about myself when I bring up the reward because I RP HERE. It also promotes bringing people into the staff for the future, even if it's for selfish reasons. If they leave after the year-end, then punished them somehow?

In the end, the community we have knows not to apply to staff, I'm just saying. I only see like 3 same people always applying to staff, and they don't do anything after the first 1-3 weeks, but ya got it.

No worries <3.
