Atani had made a decent amount of jewels running some errands for Little Old Nan. She was content with that. The following day, however, she found Yuan most definitely was not.

"Are we going to do something at least mildly interesting now?"

"We'll see."

It was interesting. Though the goddess had initially found the life of a mage to be unbearable compared to her previous duties of divinity, she gradually came to accept her current circumstances. Depending on the job, she even seemed to enjoy the work. And now, she had enough experience to voice her own preferences in the matter. Though Atani (usually) had the final say in things, as she was the primary host of this symbiotic relationship, she did take Yuan's voice into consideration. This time, she was wanting to take on a job with a little more action, perhaps one that would even yield some glory.

Not that Atani desired any 'glory.' In fact, she hated the attention, but Yuan was used to basking in it. Being reduced to a delivery person was a blow to her ego. Needless to say, she was not very pleased.

"I'm just... still a little apprehensive-- "

"You'll be fine."

"It's not me I'm worried about."

In spite of all their training, Yuan was still a loose cannon. In many instances, Yuan was right-- Atani was fine to do jobs that involved a bit more action and fighting. But in many other instances, Yuan managed to pull the rug out from under her and seize control, hence why she preferred to do those kinds of jobs in remote areas, and Magnolia was anywhere but remote.

Yuan seemed to be annoyed by Atani's remark, though not quite surprised. She didn't say anything the goddess didn't already know. In fact, their exchanges frequently went like this.

They did have some good days, but those were few and far between.

"Look, I'll see what I can do."

Their mini arguments usually ended in Atani conceding to the goddess, because somehow, she was even more stubborn than the elf. They would get nowhere if both continued to stand their ground.

Leaving the inn, Atani headed back towards the town's request board. There were, as always, many requests, many of which piqued Yuan's interest, and many of which Atani shot down. They eventually, however, settled on a compromise.

She tore off the paper put out by 'Tyler.' He wanted someone to take on Magnolia's current boxing 'champion,' who only recently came to success after using some dirty tactics. To be frank, neither Atani nor Yuan had any experience in boxing, but if this new champion could win using distasteful strategy, she didn't see why either of them couldn't put up a fight in their own way.

"I'll take this one," Atani explained to Yuan.

Though Yuan was the half that much preferred to do the fighting in jobs, this one, she thought, required a more... casual approach. It wasn't that anyone often recognized Yuan as a goddess, but she did often give off a certain aura that made people cautious of her power. Her unique appearance with silver hair, golden eyes, and devilish horns certainly didn't help. Understanding this, Yuan didn't protest.

Upon arriving at the boxing ring, Atani found Tyler and explained she was there responding to his request. She of course disclosed she didn't have any 'boxing' experience, but he found no issue in the matter when her opponent, Rodric, wasn't much of an honorable boxer himself. As he led her to the sign-up area, he explained that while Rodric was a dirty fighter, he did still have some genuine force behind his attacks.

If she wanted to take him on, especially with no boxing skills to speak of, he recommended dodging his attacks for as long as she could before the match was over. Even if she didn't ultimately win, it would at least bring him some humiliation. However, if she could manage to find a way to win, that would be even better. Atani nodded in agreement as she listened to Tyler's plan. It seemed pretty straightforward, and she was certainly light enough on her feet to dodge whatever Rodric threw at her.

It wasn't until she had signed up for the fight and stepped into the ring that she even saw who this 'Rodric' was. She was surprised at how much applause she got, particularly when she wasn't a known fighter at all, which spoke volumes for the crowd's distaste for her opponent. Before the fight began, Rodric taunted her, claiming he'd finish this fight within 60 seconds.

With the ding! of a bell, their match began. Atani, not trying to fool anyone, didn't even bother with taking a proper stance. Based on Rodric's expression, she could tell this only fueled his confidence. He likely thought he wouldn't even have to put much effort into this fight, which would be his first mistake. He threw what seemed like a light punch at her, maybe just to test the waters. She dodged it with ease. Annoyed, he tried again, and once more, she dodged out of the way. Finally, he tried his hand at what appeared to be a much stronger attack. A secret move? A grand finale of sorts? It was no matter. She rolled out of the way.

Atani had hardly expended any stamina on this fight, while Rodric on the other hand was nearly out of breath. As he stepped towards her once more, she used a small Athlas Elf trick on the ground below. It was minuscule, but a piece of rubble ended up tripping him in the process, and he was down for the count. Atani was the winner, but she forfeited the champion belt in favor of the one who Rodric had beaten before. Satisfied with her performance, Tyler rewarded her.
