Amidst the growing concern, word reached the ears of a wandering adventurer named Hyphen. Having arrived in Orchidia not long ago, he was intrigued by the town's vibrancy and enchanted by the tales of magic that filled the air. But most of all he just wanted money. But when he learned of the rat infestation and the threat it posed, he did nothing at all. But once he heard about the reward for solving the problem, he knew he had to take action.
With a determined glint in his eyes and a heart brimming with courage, Hyphen set out to complete the Pest Control Quest. Armed with only his wooden sword and an unwavering spirit, he delved into the murky depths of the sewers to investigate the root of the infestation.
The stench was overwhelming, but Hyphen pressed on, guided by the faint sound of gnawing and scuttling. It didn't take long for him to discover the neglected areas where the rats thrived, sustained by the abundance of discarded scraps and rubbish left behind.
But Hyphen was not one to be disheartened by the odds. In his old dimension, he had learned the art of summoning and commanding magical creatures. Although stripped of that power in this new world, he drew inspiration from the diverse beings he once summoned. Of course, he came up with a brilliant plan:
Violence.
He started to stomp, kick and thrash all of the rats that he could get his hands onto, killing as many as he could reach, leaving a wake of blood and rat gore. He had big stats, the rats didn't - checkmate.
As the days passed, Hyphen's efforts bore fruit. The rat population began to dwindle, and the townsfolk noticed the positive change. Orchidia's streets were no longer overrun by furry pests, and the fear that had gripped the town started to subside.
One day, he received word that a local shopkeeper was on the brink of losing everything to the relentless rats. Determined to help, Hyphen rushed to the scene, wooden sword in hand and heart ablaze with determination. The shopkeeper's wares were precious, and Hyphen couldn't bear to see them destroyed.
With quick thinking and nerves of steel, he came up with a new and original plan: more violence. He started to kill them all with his sword and feet all over again. The rats were no match for Hyphen's cunning and ingenuity, and he managed to outwit them at every turn with more sheer brutality.
The shopkeeper looked on with awe and gratitude as Hyphen returned, a triumphant smile gracing his face. The adventurer had saved not only the shop but also the livelihood of the townsfolk who relied on it.
