General Name: Kamon Suen Age: September 17th 761 Gender: Male Sexuality: Straight(?) Ethnicity, Father: Joyan Ethnicity, Mother: Joyan Class: Spellhowler Race: Wood Elf Rank: D-rank Guild: Guildless Tattoo: Palm side of wrist in an ocean blue colour. Face: Hua Cheng - Heaven Official's Blessing Appearance Height: 193cm Weight: 73kg Hair: Black Eyes: Bright orange with hints of red like a candle flame. Overall: Kamon Suen is a man with a physical air of confidence, his perfect posture and calm demeanor making him seem important. He has a slim but sturdy build, surprisingly muscular for how soft his features appear. His genetics allow him a youthful vigour and elegance, although that isn't reflected in the almost sorrowful look in his one good eye. The right, while not completely blind, is hidden beneath a patch so as not to alter his balance. His dark hair is quite long, very soft, and often kept in braids or tied back so it stays out of his face while working; Kamon has grown used to his tendency to tie it back off center so much so that it has become a deliberate act. Pointed ears stick out from beneath his hair, declaring his elven heritage to anyone paying attention. Kamon often wears beautiful, saturated colours paired with crisp whites, typically with very little decoration. It isn't often that he's seen with so much as a hair out of place even when it is loose down his back, though from an outsider's perspective it is hard to tell if this is a natural trait or a compulsive obsession. Extra: Kamon's ears are both pierced, each generally with a small gold hoop. He doesn't seem to care for them much, but he doesn't change them for anything else either. Personality Personality: Kamon is, to most passersby, a well mannered and respectful member of the gentry, albeit sometimes a little spacey. He does his best to not demand attention without good reason, and never speaks without thinking. A well trained eye might notice how jumpy the man is when unexpectedly touched - especially in his blind spot - or how he never seems to take flattery very well, as though waiting for something sharp to cut through his skin. He seems too eager to make a good impression, and cares too much of what others think of him. Despite this, Kamon is still very welcoming and friendly to those who approach him, and won't hesitate to lend a hand when requested. Amongst closer friends, Kamon seems like a different man. His fondness for conveniently - and sometimes horribly - timed puns only surfaces in a place he feels truly comfortable, as well as his ability to laugh with genuine happiness. Kamon seems almost incapable of relaxing in the presence of a task that needs to be accomplished, and can't be pulled away once he's started. Kamon is perceptive enough to know if someone is uncomfortable or distressed even if they might not realize it themselves, but doesn't have quite enough real-life experience to intuitively know why they're in distress. Simple hand motions, often combined with (but not necessarily dependent on) aural components, are used to create golden magic seals. The spells may range in appearance and colour based on the purpose of the cast spell (i.e. red for healing, green for defence), but all originate from the distinctive, intricate golden seals. Kamon's magic specialises in debuff spells, but is also capable of offensive, defensive, healing and supplementary spells at normal strength; it is strong against Darkness elements, and weak against Nature elements. History History: Kamon grew up in the forested border between Joya, Minstrel and Desierto. The small, almost town-sized settlement was relatively isolated from Athalran, but travellers between the countries would occasionally pass by along the outskirts of the settlement's borders and bring them news or trade trinkets and stories with the least reclusive of the hermits. Kamon's favourite tales all came from the edges of the sea, where whales would swallow ships whole and creatures would rise from the deep to lure the crew overboard. Kamon vowed that as soon as he was old enough he would make the trip south to the coast. At 16 years old, he joined a group of mages on their travels with much aplomb. Kamon got along with them rather well and travelled with them for a few days when they decided to stop at a local tavern for the night. The tavern keeper's daughter fell madly in love at first sight. So madly she fell, that when Kamon didn't express the same feelings, she laced his food with poison. The next day when the mages were all prepared to leave, Kamon was so violently ill that they chose to abandon him in the 'good care' of the tavern keeper. The tavern keeper was true to his word and cared for his unfortunate ward to the best of his abilities; his daughter was dedicated to her love and continued the process of lacing Kamon's food when he began to show signs of better health. After weeks of this, the tavern keeper's daughter grew too lax. She added too large of a dose into Kamon's food and the exposure brought him to death's door. The poison damaged his ocular nerves and while one healed almost completely, the other eye was far too damaged to regain proper sight. A proper healer had to be called for Kamon's recovery. They did not have the proper knowledge to identify the source of the problem, only suggesting that Kamon ought to return to his home to prevent further complications. The tavern keeper's daughter begged Kamon not to go, and begged her father to let her marry her obsession. Reeling from the weight of his near-death and the insistence of his saviour, Kamon agreed to marry the girl and stay at the tavern for as long as his health permitted. As Kamon recovered, he picked up tasks around the tavern. He had an incredible knack for the arithmetic of bookkeeping and loved spending time in the kitchen, however serving customers required a sense of balance and awareness he no longer possessed. Kamon thought it a little strange how his health didn't regress, but his new wife didn't need to sabotage his adventure now that she had gotten what she wanted - mostly. Kamon was still indifferent to the woman's advances, even with every trick she could think to throw at him from aphrodisiacs to flirting with strangers to make him jealous. The two were married in name, but Kamon could not bring himself to feign affection for his bride. When it was clear that Kamon was unhappy with the marriage, the tavern keeper took pity on him and offered to have it annulled. His wife took this as a chance to bawl and hurl herself at their feet and beg Kamon to stay - for the sake of their child. If he left, their child would grow up without a father. Kamon didn't need to feign his surprise at this announcement, since he had good reason to doubt the validity of her claims. The tavern keeper was overjoyed with the news and joined his daughter in pleading with Kamon to stay. He relented, knowing that even if the child wasn't his, the real father wouldn't come looking for the child of a tryst with a married woman. Kamon gradually became the de facto manager of the tavern, allowing his father in law to spend more free time with his grandchild. The girl was the spitting image of her mother and no one dared to question whether the child's ears were truly pointed enough to be a half-elf when none of the local residents had ever seen a young half-elf before. Kamon did his very best to make sure his daughter had a good childhood, even if that meant being the only reasonable adult in a house that spoiled the child far too much. As the child got older and Kamon's wife lost interest in her obsession, she began obsessing over their social appearance as the happiest marriage in town instead. She would obsessively nitpick everything Kamon did, and as their daughter grew out of following her mother's every word, Kamon's wife policed her actions as well. Kamon and his daughter grew close during this time, since Kamon was far too used to his wife's behaviour and would defend his daughter's freedom in ways he had long since given up on defending for himself. As Kamon's daughter grew into her independence, Kamon's relationship with his wife decayed. Neither of them had any attachment to their relationship aside from the continuation of the status quo. When Kamon's daughter was 16, she came to him demanding answers. She knew she was not a half-elf, she knew he was not a half-elf, and a fight with her mother seeded doubt that he was not her father. Rather than play along with a clearly broken charade, Kamon confessed everything - including his surprise that his wife would freely admit that the child had never been his. His daughter was furious. His daughter's well being was the only reason he had stayed for so long, and now that both his relationship with his wife and his daughter was strained beyond repair Kamon confessed everything to his father in law. He had expected the older man to side with his daughter, but Kamon was surprised to find that his father in law had suspected something for years. His father in law vowed to resolve the matter himself, but never explained how. It wasn't until the end of a drawn out, spiteful battle of legalese, gaslighting and blackmail threats that Kamon had his first taste of freedom in far too many years. The tavern was sold off so that his father in law could retire, leaving Kamon and his now ex-wife each with a significant sum - one Kamon was presented with alongside a train ticket to Fiore, where Athalran was located.
