Vivi Ramstein
Vivi never knew what to make of the spire when she saw it. Even from a distance, the thing seemed so ominous and strange that it put her off, but she also couldn't help but admire it since she had been told the story of what it was. Or, well, what it once was. It certainly wasn't much anymore by comparison. But, to her and to the people she knew, it's something that's useful. A fortress, a secret base, call it what you will. To a lot of people who didn't like to walk in the way things are, it's home. It's home to her, the only place she could really call home. But things had changed. She could feel it miles away, she knew that something was strange from the moment she had set foot in Oak. It was as if the atmosphere had changed, and it felt like something was off compared to the last time that she was in town. She didn't like it, the ominous feeling that followed her.

She had beelined for the tower, hoping to find someone there. Hoping against hope that maybe her intuition was wrong. But she knew it wouldn't be. She was hardly ever wrong about a bad feeling. When her stomach twisted up, she knew it was because something really was wrong in the world. And for someone like her, well, that was saying something.

But when she arrived, she didn't see anything. The doors were shut, and she certainly didn't remember how to get in. Maybe if she were stronger she could push them open, that would be a good goal to keep in mind for later, but she couldn't do that now. So, she tried the next best thing. Knocking. Hard, fast, and right on the heavy doors.

Erebus

The chambers entrance would open before Vivi, welcoming her home. The air was dense as she’d walk in, with hundreds of cultists moving around the great room engineering catapults while others smashed hammers against hot iron. The war machine Erebus was managing would be a total shock to the world in time. But for now, the four armed rogue was patient, quiet... He was in the eye of his own storm.

When Vivi would step forward into the light. Erebus would be sitting at the foot of the throne, planted at the steps going up. His eyes perk’d up as the door opens and he scans the immediate incomer with his blossom pink irises.

“Huh, well I’ll be... If it isn’t a lost nightmare,” his voice echoed off the walls. Somehow— it would be loud enough for Vivi to hear from almost 50m. Picking himself up with the dust of his hands and backside, Ere begins walking towards the Demi-Human. It took him a few moments but eventually he was standing in the light of the doorway. His pink hair was a mess, but his gear was all worn, with his hood pulled back over his shoulders; something like a hoodie.

“I take it you haven’t heard the news? You’ve only be gone... Two years? Welcome home... Vivi yes? We met long ago.”

Vivi didn't know what to make of the obvious war machine in front of her. The constant rotation of industry really cluttered up the space, turning it into something she recognized even less than before. She hadn't seen the tower this lively when she was last present in its foreboding halls, nothing seemed like it was as it once was. Whether that was a good thing or not was something she would reserve judgement on. There would be absolutely no point to even speculating when she knew so little from the get go. What she could see, however, was a stranger sitting on the throne. A throne she had only ever known one man to lay claim to, a man she had respected even if they had only known one another for a brief time. She wondered just what had happened to him. For all she knew, that could be the man she knew just with a different face. She'd seen it happen.

"One year,"
She corrected him. "I went...missing. Intentionally I suppose. It wasn't particularly worth it, but it was necessary." Crossing her arms, she looked him up and down. "Who are you, exactly? Have we met before? You know my name but I do not know your face, and I definitely do not remember your voice. Seems different from the man who sat in that chair before. Did you kill him for it or something?" She looked around. "I got the feeling that he would have preferred it that way if it was going to happen at all."

Erebus

Erebus tucked his face to his shoulder, rubbing his cheek as she spoke. She was far off and rather shallow with her emphasis towards the turn of events unfolding. However, he understood that she was out of touch, instead he answered her with a level of patience. “No. He was my friend.” The pink haired adventurer then divulged further. “I took up the mantle of Master with his passing. He was slain by Alisa Vollan some few weeks ago.”

Which expressly made sense as to why Erebus was beating the drums of war. “At Eternal Nightmare we don’t get served. We get even. I plan to burn Hargeon to hell and then face her myself.” He then then waved for her to come inside— deeper into the chasm, into the warmth of the Spiral’s shade and firelight. “I was just a rogue when we first met, we had a spar by the river. I don’t know if you can remember back that long, that was certainly three years ago in X791. As you can see, I’ve mutated a bit since then in my bid for conquest. Nothing surprising though right? We all give a certain part of ourselves away when it comes to getting stronger.. I am Erebus...”, referring to his name and four arms which was probably why Vivi was left questioning his identity, his arms which hung to the sides of his long cloak.

He managed a smile even though his mission for vengeance was grim and dire. Erebus understood that he was the Master now. If Vivi was at the spiral, there was a lot of chance he could turn her to his cause. Help her tap into her true power.

... and Destroy Fiore so the new era might foster a world of peace.

"So...he is dead then." Vivi closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. That was very disappointing to hear. On some level, she felt a pang of regret wash over her. There was a lot she would have to bear because of that, and even more that she would have to deal with later. But a man like Odin, well, she could understand why the circumstances occurred. It was not as if one chose this life to live in perpetual comfort. There would always be someone one step behind you waiting to take your life and everything else you had. Still though, it was upsetting. She didn't let it show, she remained as calm as she ever was.

"That is a shame. He was a man I respected and admired greatly. Someone who seemed to truly understand my philosophy...and seemed to share it to some degree." She turned her gaze back to Erebus. For a moment more she was silent. She could understand changing one's face, at times it must surely be necessary. But he was very different from when she had last seen him. He was a completely different presence to her. It was almost as if she were talking to a different person altogether. But she did not feel he would lie to her. There would be no point in that. She was not someone particularly worth lying to, she had no guile to speak of.

"It is good to see you though, Erebus,"
She said. "You seek vengeance now for what was done to him? I can tell from all this work that you mean to be quite literal with what you said. Burn it to the ground...yes, I believe you could easily do that with what you have here. Total vengeance...a strong response."

Erebus

“Yes. Exactly.” Erebus said with a nod, remembering why he liked this girl’s mentality back then. She may be a young warrioress, but you certainly can’t teach someone heart. People come with it, or they do not.

This girl... had the it factor that he was looking for. Perhaps.

“I want your help Vivi.” He said finally, turning to point at the cultists. “I have a really interesting take on defeating Hargeon involving their import trade, these men are designing the weapons I’ll equip it with: cannons, swords, you name it...!” He insisted with a flare of flamboyance, and a sparkle in his eyes. A hand came to his chin, long black fingernails tapped the side of his cheek lightly as he looked down in deep thought.

“I don’t care what package of strength you come with in this day and age. Your energy is what this war needs. Might I introduce you to someone who recently joined our ranks, I think you both will get along well with your personalities, a knack for overcoming obstacles as you see them of course. The long path of power is one full of desperation when you’re alone... A boost to your rate of growth would be good. Either way. We attack in only a few weeks anyways.” Erebus walked with her speaking calmly, they passed numerous shrouded men taking care of their deeds. Erebus took a path walking them the perimeter of the room, until finally they passed the throne and a few meters behind it to a large stairwell, heading to the ancient magical elevator at the top behind its stone walls.

“If you trust and believe in this banner. Your quest is quite simple... Carry it. Fight to avenge our fallen Master. Nothing is more pressing than making the world realize that they can’t pick us off. We won’t lose another nightmare. Not as long as we have the drive to commit change.” He stepped into the landing of the elevator, and extended a hand to her. (assuming she followed him as he spoke.)

“Help me end Blue Pegasus, and we’ll bring Oak to its doorstep, engines for War ready. We would be the first guild to run two cities against the lead of the empire, I bet the King will fall dead just from the word.” Erebus said. While he was a mixed bag of emotions, a highly unstable enigma, he was also passionate. One quality he inherited from Odin, his old friend.

Reckless abandon.

Vivi Ramstein
Vivi followed Erebus soundlessly. She was always the type to listen rather than interject. She knew Erebus, but he had changed significantly since they'd last met. She could understand that, of course, a lot had happened to him and surely he yearned for a fiery vengeance that would not abate unless it was truly sated. While she had never felt such a passion for it, she would not deny that he should be the one to lead the charge given his obvious admiration and respect for Odin. Given that she also felt similar feelings towards the now deceased former master, she could accept his passion for what it was. He wanted to burn down those who had struck out against them, and he wouldn't be stopped. But she didn't intend to say even one word against his plan. That righteous fury of his was going to be directed somewhere, and it might as well be back at those who attacked them. To stand back up after taking such a massive blow, to bellow at the enemy which had laid you low, it is a sign of great strength. It was something that she could throw her weight behind without hesitation.

She took his hand and stepped into the elevator. "Though I was not a...devout believer in all that Odin explained to me, I still valued the goal and identity of this guild. I valued what he had to say. He was a man who took my meaning seriously, and someone who I knew I could follow. If you intend to continue his path, then I will continue to lend my support and loyalty to this guild." She cracked a brief smile at the thought of what would happen next. "This war could turn the entire nation on its head. A rather fascinating proposition...and one I think I would take great pleasure in assisting to facilitate. I do not need time to think on it, you will have whatever support I can lend to this cause, Erebus. I will not shy away from a challenge like this, the stakes are much too high for that."

Erebus

Erebus was pleased to here that he had her favor, and support, in the coming conflict. Erebus clicked a button on the side of the door and they rode the lift up to the top, where— assuming the gentleman was, had recently been inducted into the guild and would likely be training at the moment.

Erebus stood by as the lift opening, revealed the twilight of the night sky, the actual sun setting in the west gave the sky a beautiful luster of purple on one event horizon and orange another. Locked in perpetual dusk, the tower which was some 380 feet, always made one feel the limits of their size in contrast to the world.

Vivi would likely feel the winds up here, the clouds themselves flew lower than the point they’d come too. Erebus stepped out and made way forward. In search of a man that was clearly more than just a man, he would scoure the room for Akenomyosei.

”I’m glad to hear that Vivi, I do have every intention of reaching Odin’s dream. Having you beside us only drives my motivation further. For Odin, he was a soldier in life. He is a martyr in death, a character that traverses needing to be alive or dead to see ones’ avenues explored. Quite literally, he was bigger than life itself. I will miss him although I can’t help but feel that he may’ve known this all along and trudged towards his death willingly. He was only a Eudaemon for a month, it seems unreal to me but the past seems to dictate the future... and here we are, preparing for a domination.” Erebus decided with a matter of factory based response. “Your support is valuable but you would no doubt be viewed a criminal after this, in fact... In my experience, a criminal is a loose term they will slap on you for being a revolutionary. If you can handle that then you will do just fine out there. They will learn to obey our power as we amass it, survive and you will see what I mean. Eternal Nightmare can see the potential for a new world under our ideals— so we will persist until we are nothing. Welcome to the War Cause.“ Erebus said, with his hand traveling to a flask inside his cloak. He swigged it while he moved, he carried himself as far as 20m walking. Awaiting her and Akeno to make himself known.

"I believe you," Vivi told him. "I do not feel as if you have a reason to lie to me, or at least not a reason that I would disagree with. I am not unwise to the realities of leadership, though I have never experienced them. You require people, you require strength of arms, you require power in order to wage the campaign that will lay your enemies low. Whether or not you tell me the whole truth or even part of your plans is irrelevant to me. You have given me a target, and I will pursue it." She breathes a sigh of relief. "I have been prepared to lead the life of a criminal for some time. My views have never been popular with the powers that be, and I knew eventually I would attract enough notoriety for them that I would be labeled as a renegade or revolutionary for my actions. I am not afraid of that outcome, Erebus. I embrace it. Whatever lies ahead, I will gladly face it if it is for the cause you stand for." She then shook her head. "Rest assured, I will not make the mistake of confusing you for him, of course. I know that you will lead differently, that you will be a man of your own convictions. But based on what I know of you, I have no qualms in following your lead."

She followed him out of the elevator, curious to get a good look from the top of the tower. Catching the briskness of the evening, she had a look around the tower perimeter, truly soaking in the sight from on high. She didn't imagine that anyone could build something so massive, but she could see why someone would do it. The view was incredible, it practically begged to be seen. And from here, she could imagine its original builders must have felt very powerful indeed.

Nana had been relaxing the whole day after arriving at the guild tower. She had seen the busy work of the peons and had ignored them. Erebus: her teacher, was in deep contemplation, so she had left him be for a time. She had arrived much earlier in the day, just as the rays of the morning sun had risen. She had taken a light nap in her quarters and then decided to go look for her ally, Akeno. Yet no matter where in their massive fortress that she searched, she could not find him. Even the people she had stopped and asked, seemed to know nothing. Perplexed, Nana sighed in exasperation. Akeno had set her up on a quest she had taken the time to help him with. He hadn't shown. Perhaps he was on another continent.

That burly man.. how inconsiderate. She thought to herself, reminding herself to punch him in the gut and topple him to his knees next time she saw him. He was a proud man. being taken to his knees would surely remind him to respect his seniors.

Nana was quite strong now and highly ranked in the guild. She had risen quickly in reputation, rank and power. Her teacher was the new guild master himself, Erebus. Nana was considered an A Rank non-mage, but she was realistically already S Rank in terms of power, skills and equipment. Despite her rising infamy, she was not close to many of the guild members of Eternal Nightmare. She valued some of them, but mostly kept to herself. She was often nearby but neither seen, nor heard unless she wished to be.

Her teacher seemed busy, so she was planning to go out again to another town and promote Eternal Nightmare's power once again. First, she wanted to go to the top of the spiraling tower and make sure that Akeno wasn't up there training. She would hate to have missed him. She rode the elevator up in the evening time but several minutes before Erebus and Vivi. Akeno was not there.

Nana admired the setting sun for several minutes, enjoying the cool evening air as it brushed against her satin black dress. Her long blonde hair rolled down her shoulders and flapped softly in the wind. Her golden eyes looked somberly back towards the elevator as the gears turned. Someone else was ascending. Likely Erebus. Nana's companion, Spur, sat comfortably on her shoulders and hung onto her golden locks of hair as they both awaited the soon to be visitors.

To Nana's surprise, it was more than Erebus. A woman was with him. A woman that Nana did not recognize. The daemon woman walked towards them leisurely, a coy smile on her lips. She was tall for a woman, easily 5'10" with long legs. Her dress split at her hip, exposing more than her thighs. In a like manner, the torso of her dress also exposed much of her ample bosom, larger than many a woman's dreams of sympathies. Yet Nana had the strength and adulturous figure to support her obscenely large breasts. She folded her arms beneath them to accentuate their worth in comparison to this new woman.

Some women did not care to compare themselves, yet nana was a vain woman. She knew she was beautiful, almost divine even. Yet despite her divine looks, her personality was quite devilish. She enjoyed toying with others. Emotionally, mentally and physically. In a playful manner, she liked to torment her sensei. "Erebus-sensei.. Bringing up a woman for a romantic view of the setting sun?~" she would say teasingly, though her eyes were not on Erebus, but this Vivi. Nana had heard the latter part of the conversation once the two had exited the elevator. She understood the basic gist, as well as the true purpose for their ascension. "Akeno-chan is not here." she would add bluntly. Calling such a massive man by such an endearing and cute name did little to portray the proper mental image of Akeno, onto Vivi's mind.

Erebus

Erebus nodded as the lift hatch opened, up ahead the sunset and before it? One of his guild members, a personal student Erebus took on who was taken in by Odin. One of Odin’s projects as you may think of it, a young demon who wanted a place to fit in. In Odin’s a sense, Erebus personally made it a duty to observe and direct the growth of such a specimen as she.

A literal higher entity. Nana was something beyond the two of them, as mortals. Or at the very least, very close to it having an obscure through her chest. Erebus merely frowned at her words. “Well where the hell is he? ... Whatever. Nana will do for a coach.“

Vivi was also very tall for a female, Erebus being barely taller than either of them. The Phantom instantly narrowed his thoughts down to what these body languages could mean and merely pitched in an answer while she spoke. Letting her go on.

“Um.. No.. Actually, Vivi is a member we welcomed to Eternal Nightmare. She has the qualities of a great warrior. She was favored by Odin and myself and was gone for a long time. Speaking of— what have you been into within recent time?” He spoke in regards to the Demi-Human. Erebus merely set his own vibe outward, hoping to ease the room of Nana’s own pressure. While it was unusual to have so many beautiful women around. Erebus tries to discipline himself, he doesn’t believe in love to achieve his goals.

Instead he offers his guildmates friendly vibes. Sometimes, lighthearted energy shown out to be good for that. Erebus remembered taking that lesson from Jin, in their many journeys... The ability to sway the direction of an embarrassing moment was like a god given skill. Erebus was simply a novice within that realm.

Erebus ignores the comments aimed at Vivi, he was either muttering his own dialogue during that time or let’s her defend herself based on how she goes about it.

Vivi Ramstein
Vivi took a sharp breath as the heavy presence of another, stronger individual hit her like a brick to the face. Strength was the name of her game, it was everything she valued. If she couldn't get a sense of just how far below someone she was then she'd be pretty bad at making judgement calls based on that ideal. She couldn't tell how strong this woman, Nana she heard, was, but she could tell that she wasn't even on the same level as her. The way she carried herself, that sensuous confidence that exuded from her every cell, and the way she spoke to Erebus was a giveaway immediately. She'd heard Erebus say that she would coach, and it didn't take much to put two and two together. If he was recommending that she be the one to put Vivi through her paces then she must be strong indeed. She didn't take Erebus as someone who would so casually give praise to people, so she was quite cautious from the start.

"A pleasure," Vivi said with a nod to Nana. Looking at Erebus, she shrugged her shoulders lightly. "I traveled around for a time, mostly in hiding while I sorted out a problem for a friend, though I have no idea where that friend might be anymore. It took some...effort on my part to actually put things to rights. Thankfully, things seem to have fallen into place and there should be no more trouble to face on that end."

She cleared her throat and returned her rapt attention to Nana. This mysterious woman...what secrets was she hiding behind that gaze? Just who was she and how strong was she? Vivi couldn't tell, she had no way to be so exacting. But everything told her that this was going to be quite the first acquaintance. She did not imagine that anyone would be here without a cause though, so what was Nana's? She would very much like to find out. "I also do not find the view very romantic. It is a good view, but it evokes other feelings besides romance with me."

Nana looked passed Erebus still, listening to his and Vivi's words. She gauged the situation and came to the same conclusion without being told exactly what was expected of her so suddenly. Erebus needed someone to provide a wing to the new member and teach them how to soar. Only then could they truly be a Nightmare. Why Erebus had chosen Akeno initially, Nana wasn't too certain about. This off-chance encounter had proven to Vivi's benefit however. Nana was more of a teacher than most, even if she was unpredictable and wily at times.

Of course that only made Nana even more curious. This Vivi had been given the personal approval of both the late Odin, as well as Erebus- Nana's very sensei. The daemon woman would nod her head politely at Vivi's introduction, then turn her attention back to Erebus for but a moment to answer his inquiry. She would approach closer still, nearly in Erebus' personal space. Despite her height, he was still taller than her. Vivi herself was even taller than Nana. "I've had a fight with a few of your acquaintances. I attacked Jikan on Luluhawa Island. I ambushed the white werewolf on Luluhawa Island as well. Most recently, I attacked Esperia as she attempted to cross the dark woods between Oak and our spiral tower." she would explain but only provide little bits of detail. She had lost all three fights after all.

Since then, she had grown more and was eager for a rematch. That would have to wait however, she the blonde woman turned her attention back to the polite woman near Erebus. Nana backed away from Erebus now and closer to Vivi, nearly into the woman's personal space if Vivi did not protest. Her eyes half-interested, curious even, although her face remained stoic. "Hmmmm... I sense a bit of magic within you. What kind of mage are you?" she would say questioningly as she began to circle about Vivi in a slow walk. She inspected the woman's body, her footing and her eye movements. If she was going to assist this woman into becoming a nightmare, she needed to know her strengths and weaknesses. "If I were to erect a mediocre magical shield. Could you break it?" she would say at length.

If Vivi said she could break the magic shield, Nana would play a little game. She would approach Erebus and but from behind if he did not protest. She would drape an arm around and under his left breast, directly over his heart. She would extend a finger out and point towards Vivi, both singling the woman out as well as subtly activating the magic shield of her ring. A gift fromthe Devil Zalambur herself. A magic circle appeared from the tip of her finger and erected a purple magic shield one meter by one meter in diameter. Positioned directly in front of Erebus' heart, she would speak again "Attempt to destroy Erebus-Sensei's heart." she would instruct. To Nana it was a cruel game, but would reveal much about her potential pupil. Her bosom pressed against his back as she stood behind Erebus. There were so many intertwining games so suddenly. Challenges as well as teasing.

Could she destroy the shield? Could she attack her allies? Or even kill without hesitation? Erebus was perfectly capable of defending himself of course and Nana had not forbid him from countering, nor implied such to Vivi. Erebus knew Nana well enough to know when she purposefully left out information or instructions. Nana was notorious for taking things way too far and would simply surmise it as the other person's fault for not being specific enough. The attack was up to Vivi however, so was Erebus' decision if he wished to counter her or not. No harm would come to Erebus of course. Nana possessed a magic relic that made her physical body invulnerable. Even Vivi's best attack could not scratch the blonde daemon's skin or break her nails. If Vivi was capable of breaking the shield, Nana would catch the attack with her bare hand.

If Vivi decided to try and attack, Nana would not move the shield and allow Vivi to strike it with whatever method she prefered, or not at all. A head on attack was not the only way to deal with a target. Nana never specifically said she had to do it right here and now after all. Everything about this was a test to see how far ahead Vivi could think for herself, as well as her strengths and weaknesses. Question everything, accept nothing. Kill without mercy or hesitation. Despite Nana's provocation, she was asking Vivi to attack the guild master, attempt to kill him even! Was this normal? Not likely, not by far. She would likely have to apologize to Vivi afterwards for placing so much pressure on her suddenly. Maybe even Erebus would apologize. Nana was his pupil after all. Her antics were a direct representation of him. Another one of Nana's mischievous games.

If Vivi declined the offer, Nana would find no fault with her and retract her shield. "Sometimes the best way to kill someone is to wait for the right opportunity." she would add after the ordeal was concluded. "A Failed attempt will make the next attempt more difficult." she would explain. "We'll be going to war with Blue Pegasus soon. Expect to have to kill someone or be imprisoned by the Rune Knights and their folly King."

Erebus

Erebus allowed Nana to humor oneself with the game of danger. Feeling her chest against his back, he merely refrained from speaking  for a moment until she had reached her satisfactory level of chill. “Are you forgetting Nana,” Erebus cracked a coy smirk, whether she could see it or not was debatable standing at his side, head between Vivi and Erebus’ own. “This guild doesn’t allow infighting between it’s mages.” Erebus said— potentially easing the stress off Vivi. However if she went in with the idea she was going to land damage, Erebus would eat it. Taking the force— rather than opposing the girl. After all, his role was merely to help these gems. Refine them, and then make them into swords.

“Besides I have felt Vivi’s power. Believe it or not, when I was just making a name for myself,” he recalled the story. “We fought on the river front. Unless she’s gotten stronger of course.”

He would leave the next bit of time to Vivi’s own, if she started a walloping combo, he would have to start meeting her with different blocks, side-steps and setbacks. But initially he would let her do whatever she pleased, at least up until the moment the shield fell— if it did. Rather it did or didn’t, the fact Vivi Ramstein was here at all already spoke very honorable of her resolve and mentality. Something this world needed to see, Odin believed the same.

“What do you say Vivi? Are you going to play into Nana’s conditions?” Erebus said. Or will you make your own. He thought carefully to himself.

Vivi Ramstein
"I am not sure," Vivi answered Nana. "I suppose that would depend on what you considered mediocre. The gap between us is rather evident to me, I would not put it past you to be able to erect a barrier that I could not break easily." She studied Nana right back. Although she knew that there was a difference in their power, she was still unafraid of Nana. Even should she lack the assurances that she would not be attacked by her, Vivi was the type to face her challenges head on. Turning her back would be an admittance of weakness, and she couldn't have that. She would sooner take a shot to the chest than give up on her chosen ideals.

"But I am willing to try," She finished her thought with a nod of her head. "Let me see if I am capable of that much. Though I have grown stronger...I am not strong enough. I would rather have an understanding of how far I still need to climb than be completely in the dark."

She eyed Erebus and Nana curiously as Nana explained this little game of hers. She had suspected that there would be a method to whatever ploy she decided to utilize, but demanding that Vivi strike a blow towards their guildmaster was something she did not quite expect. Even so, she would not hesitate. Even without much thought, she knew that Erebus would likely have a method to deflect her blow should the barrier fail, and that would be if he even felt anything from it. She also suspected that Nana, despite knowing little about her, would not allow someone like Erebus to be hurt so easily given the amount of respect she seemed to hold towards him. This was a test of herself and nothing more, and she needed to be decisive. Could she strike, could she kill? What would she bring to the table?

Pulling back her right arm, Vivi hooked her index and middle fingers as she concentrated her power. Throwing her arm up in an uppercut motion, she blasted two needle-like projectiles right towards Erebus' chest, aiming for that barrier. On instinct, as her shot went off, she took several steps forward and assumed a fighting stance. She looked ready to try and take a man's head off with her bare hands, her every muscle tensed and ready for hand to hand combat. But she remembered herself, she remembered that this was just a test, and she relaxed again, standing a bit closer to the others. Especially after she watched her hits smash against the barrier, but there was no sign it was strong enough.

Breathing a sigh, she shook her head. "That was a poor showing," She admitted. "I have not prepared myself sufficiently for the challenges that lie ahead."

Of course Nana had not forgotten that in-fighting was not permitted. This was more of.. training, per say. If Erebus had wished to pass off Vivi as Nana's pupil, then it was only fair that he too participated in the initial meeting and subsequent responsibilities. She would hold her tongue at the moment however and allow Vivi to focus and steel her resolve. It was clear enough by her facial expression and her body language that she was up to the task even if she knew there might be little to no hope.

Nana liked that about her. Even after Erebus' prodding and extra information about not being allowed to fight one another- Vivi was still willing to take that step and show both of them that she had the resolve if nothing else.

Unless Erebus did anything, Nana would remain stationary and passive. She would allow the projectiles to hit and bounce off of her magical barrier. though she did not destroy the barrier, Vivi had managed to crash the magical shield where the needles had impacted. That gave Nana a vague but important understanding just where Vivi was in her combat prowess.

"Even the most powerful can be taken down through a lapse of judgment or lack of knowledge. " Nana would say, poking at Erebus' chest with her hand that had been snaked around his chest and had held the shield. The magical barrier dissipated and it would be clear that Nana was implying even their new guild master Erebus, could be killed from relying too much on his own pupils' presence.

Although Nana was certain Erebus would have reacted differently if he even suspected that she would actually attack him, the fact remained that he had allowed such a dangerous and often unpredictable woman into his vulnerabilities. "Having the will to use your magical, is more useful and having insane magic and no will to use it. Just like a blade, it is a tool to both protect and destroy." she would say, then remove herself from around Erebus' backside and around him to be much closer to Vivi. "Because you have the will to do the unpopular even knowing the disparities between us... proves you are more useful and more valuable than even the king of Fiore."

Nana would look over her shoulder, her eyes a dancing gleam of entertainment as she looked her her teacher, Erebus. "I'll take Vivi as a student. I'm sure I can teach her more than Akeno-chan." she would say and then turn back to Vivi. If Vivi didn't resist, Nana would take Vivi's hands in both of her own and give them a gentle squeeze as she reversed her edgy and overbearing presence into a cheerful and welcoming smile. "Erebus-Sensei was my teacher. I'll do my best to teach you what he taught me and then some of my own wisdom as well." In a way, this worked out for Nana as well. She had never taught someone before. It would be a good experience.

Vivi flexed her hands and looked down at her palms. She felt that she had done the bare minimum with her efforts. She could have done more. In fact, she knew she could have done far more. But she had not done what she should have. She had not thrown herself into her efforts to grow stronger. Instead, she had allowed herself to lapse into a state of complacency for a time. This, she knew, was unacceptable. She needed to refocus herself, she needed to rise to the occasion in front of her with everything she had. To do anything less was to be an embarrassment not just to the ideals which she had set for herself but also to the notion of what she had committed herself to when she had come to this tower the first time. The goal left behind by the man she had respected. A man she had known to be worth every ounce of the reputation he carried. She needed to rise to that.

Looking up at Nana after a time, Vivi nodded her head. This woman was stronger than her, and what was more she seemed to be capable of a great deal beyond what she had demonstrated. Vivi wanted to follow that example. She wanted to be a part of something greater than herself. To do that, she needed someone to show her how things in Fiore truly worked. She had gotten by with the bare minimum, and she had forced her way up the ranks slowly but surely. That wouldn't work forever. She needed to be able to stand up against a lot more than just thugs and fellow criminals. She needed a guiding hand to show her the way. She'd accept that from Nana.

"I am not afraid of what I may have to do,"
She told Nana in no uncertain terms. "I am not going to shy away from what may lie ahead. If you will teach me what you know then I will listen and I will grow. Your efforts will not be wasted on me. I will not make a promise of it, instead I will show you through my actions and demonstrate my resolve to you directly so that you understand my commitment to this path."

Nana liked Vivi's response. She was getting good feelings about the future prospect of this Vivi Ramstein. Erebus had scoped out a potential candidate, one that had been around for awhile by Nana's vague understanding. Though the daemon woman couldn't figure out why it was only until recently that Vivi had sought to change her circumstances, Nana could only guess one reason. Odin's death.

While it was totally possible that it wasn't even related, it was still a possibility. The death of Odin had turned some mages away, while also igniting the fire into others. "Then I welcome you, Vivi-chan, as my official pupil. I can be harsh at times, but please know that my efforts will be for your personal benefit. All I ask is that you don't question my methods." she would say, laying her only rule out before Vivi. With that out of the way, Nana would turn squarely towards her own sensei and shake a knowing finger at him. "Erebus-Sensei, don't go off doing something you'll regret while we're busy." she would say. he was a strong man, the embodiment of carnage. Yet he had a tender heart that he carefully hid, or so Nana understood. All of his careful planning was to avenge Odin, but Nana didn't doubt that Erebus wished he could go right away and by himself to settle the score with Alisa. With that said, Nana would turn back towards the elevator. "In two days time, we will meet at the church here in Oak City, Vivi-chan. Come prepared."

Vivi Ramstein
Vivi wasn't sure if she had passed a test or if she had simply been allowed to move on to the next in a series. Still, she found Nana's candor to be rather refreshing. Too many people, she knew, in this world would talk around what they really meant in order to deceive others. This was straightforward, this was easy for her to grasp, and she felt that it was a sign of some respect that Nana was so plain with her. She certainly didn't mind the setting of expectations, if anything it made her more confident in Nana's ability as a teacher. She knew that she had been placed in good hands.

She gave Nana a nod as her new teacher explained where she would need to be in two days. She wouldn't miss it, she'd be right on time as always. That was her specialty. As Nana left them behind, Vivi gave Erebus a nod of thanks as well. He had helped her immensely in these last few hours, and she knew that she would be able to grow quite a bit more because of his assistance in finding her a teacher. It would take time, but she fully intended to repay that trust with her own two hands. Strength would come with experience and training, so she knew she needed to get started. Walking back to the elevator, she descended just after Nana, hoping that she would see this tower's heights again when she was stronger.
