Evening had snuck up on everyone as Zendreyu arrived from the ship to magic circle to ship transport to a location he had always wanted to visit. While in Bellum Zendreyu was lucky enough to find work in Luluhawa as an Inn Keeper for day. As Zendreyu left the ship he made his way to the local Inn of Luluhawa. It was a little hectic to travel as Zendreyu was unable to bring Magnus along with him as Magnus had to maintain watch over the home-front. As Zendreyu walked through the main doors the scent of fresh fruit and tangy alcoholic beverages was in the air A beautiful woman of unique style was directing some young ladies about their duties when she noticed Zendreyu and smiled at him before continuing her instructions.  Zendreyu signed into the guest book, then out of military habits signed into the employee log book.
Ms. Wailani stopped at her desk and checked his signatures as an all knowing smile encompassed her visage briefly before she turned solemn for business.


Kealoha Wailani was stunning, she was absolutely overwhelming in her presence. To look upon her Zendreyu felt as if she could make the volcanoes erupt then shut up. After she finished talking with the young employees she approached Zendreyu and gave him a stern look as she walked around him. Without need for a prompter Zendreyu stood at attention for her inspection which made Kealoha grin.
After Mistress Wailani stopped walking around him and stood in front of him eye to eye she noticed that Zendreyu wasn’t nervous just indoctrinated with military discipline. “Okay soldier man, you are well suited to the job I need you to do and I don’t think I need to give you any special instructions. Tomorrow I will be away for a childbirth ceremony. SOooOooo for the entire 24 hrs starting tonight at midnight until midnight tomorrow you will serve the Luluhawa Inn as its Innkeeper. This means you watch over the employees. You will help make breakfast for over 100 guests, maintain the cleaning and make sure the bar does not go dry. As a military man I expect you to perform your tasks as you would when you were deployed. Do you have any questions Sergeant Zendreyu?”

Zendreyu stayed at attention as he replied, ”No questions Mistress Wailani…”
Kealoha’s eyebrows shot up at the title of “Mistress” before she giggled seductively (although she didn’t mean it to be seductive, simply the timbre of her voice and the dominance of her aura along with her beauty made it that way)“Mistress… it is a cute enough title. I like it. Go ahead and get some rest, I am leaving in a hour and the employees mostly know their roles. Just keep everyone safe and busy. I don’t expect you to take up any duties until midnight.”
Zendreyu stayed at attention as he replied “Thank you Mistress Wailani, I won’t let you down.”
Kealoha giggled at her title again, “Please relax Sergeant and I will see you again in about 30 hours.”
Zendreyu relaxed from the position of attention, his military habits seemed impossible to break. Ms. Wailani handed Zendreyu some keys and shook his hands before heading off on her own errands. The keys were for the Innkeeper’s room, the storage closets, the refrigeration units, and amazingly enough a weapons locker.

All the keys were labeled so everything was quite elementary. Zendreyu went about his own methods and preparations as he performed reconnaissance on the entire Inn in under an hour. The entire inn was a little smaller than a full on resort. There were 2 piers, a waterfall area for children to swim, a lazy river for small time fishing , three bars (2 small patio bars outside and a large deluxe bar inside).

Zendreyu did a preliminary check of the bars and the kitchen and saw that each area was fully stocked. With everything set Zendreyu went to the innkeeper’s room set up 4 alarms that would go off within 10 minutes of eachother 40 minutes prior to midnight which gave him 5 hours to sleep. Zendreyu went to the supply closet and found a set of pants and a collared Innkeeper shirt that was almost too big for him and set aside for his uniform. After setting his shoes aside and then stripping down to his t-shirt and shorts Zendreyu laid down on the bed without getting under the covers. As soon as the muscles in his back loosened Zendreyu was fast asleep. Relief from constant pain meant instant sleep nowadays.
Four & 1/2 hours passed with ease and Zendreyu woke up before any of his alarms feeling reasonably refreshed. A quick shower followed by teeth-brushing, mouthwash, Luluhawa soothing lotion, and then Zendreyu donned his chosen Inn-Keeper uniform (Zendreyu did not know he had donned the Big Kahuna’s personal Luluhawa Inn shirt).

It was now time to start his 24 hour shift.

2330 Zendreyu checked the bars, the kitchen and all the hallways… (Well stocked, clean, orderly)

Midnight Zendreyu set aside eggs, bread, fruit, cereal, oats, sliced potatoes (in circles and minced) in salted water, beef steaks, waffle batter, sliced thin carrot strips, avocadoes, ham, refried beans, day old rice, and thick hearty gravy with chunks of diced pork. Zendreyu checked off his kitchen prep with enough food for 150 troops (Zendreyu did not know he prepped a little too much gravy)

0100 Zendreyu checked, cleared, and personally cleaned all the public access restrooms. (Leaving the night shift employees with nothing to do but monitor the slow cooking gravy and play cards)

0300 Zendreyu reset and organized the fishing poles and equipment into sets
(this had never been done before, so it took a while)


0600 Zendreyu washed up and supervised the kitchen while helping stir two large pots of brown savory breakfast gravy

0700 Breakfast is served and it is a hit, guests come back for seconds and thirds
(Zendreyu organized the kitchen team members to serve everyone like they were in a school cafeteria instead of the normal buffet setting which seemed to be a hit as the workers were earning tips for plating or making sure the portions served were specific to individual diet plans)
Zendreyu doesn’t accept the seafood delivery because it smelled funny so he sent 3 good swimmers that professed knowledge of fishing in the area to round up enough fish for half the guests for the afternoon

0900 Big Kahuna stopped by for breakfast and was shocked to see Zendreyu wearing his shirt and his Uncle’s pants. The Big Kahuna talked with the workers and the rumor that Zendreyu was Kealoha’s fiancé was born. After 4 servings of beefsteak with eggs and gravy the Big Kahuna was truly impressed and thanked the cooks. He found out the differences from normal breakfast was that Zendreyu prepped the food at midnight and slow cooked the gravy for 6 hours with lots of stirring.

1200 Zendreyu leads all the employees in self defense drills using the traditional Luluhawa weapons from the weapons locker

1300 Zendreyu makes lunch for 50 guests since most tourists travel during the after-noon. Lunch menu of beefsteak and egg burgers on sweet bread is a big hit (The Inn had never served lunch before, the employees took notes, Big Kahuna left with 9 beefsteak sandwiches and huge smile. 3 employees returned with a large haul of fresh fish seafood restocked and 4 large fish used for evening snacks)


1400 Zendreyu checked the hallways and worked with the staff to clean rooms and the waterfall area (Employees were given nap breaks on 1 hour rotations to keep everyone refreshed and ready to go)
A rude man shows up demanding a room but the Inn is full so Zendreyu promptly cleans out the beach storage room and sets up the furniture from the beach storage hut to make it look like a cabana suite. The rude man stops complaining as he sees the room that was set aside for him at the last minute which is closer to the outside bar and the fishing area than anyone else. Content that he is being treated like a big shot he pays twice what everyone else is paying for a room without complaint. (Employees took note and began inspecting other storage huts to see if they were good enough to become private cabanas)

1900 Zendreyu watched over the bars and kept restocking any alcoholic beverages

2200 Zendreyu helped clean and restock the bars then set aside fried fish and fresh sushi snacks for the late night munchers with the munchies. (Big hit with workers and tourists, a lot of extra money was made and employees took note)

Midnight     Zendreyu relaxed in the Inn-Keeper’s room and handwashed his -UNIFORM- before hanging it in the window to dry. Once again in his t-shirt and training shorts Zendreyu set his alarms for 0500 with 10 minute breaks between each alarm leading up to 0545

Zendreyu slept soundly not knowing the rumors and changes he had inspired. Zendreyu woke up promptly with his 1st alarm at 0500 and got his original training clothes on before cleaning the room and bowing in thanks to simplicity and comforting familiarity of his tasks. Zendreyu thanked the employees and shook everyone’s hands before signing out the guest and log book. Zendreyu waited till 8 am (0800) but Mistress Wailani did not show up to see him off. Instead a rather large man with a bruised face showed up and explained that MISTRESS WAILANI was thankful for his help and if Zendreyu gets the chance to come back as a normal guest to make sure he checks in with her.

Zendreyu smiled politely then bowed to the large gentleman (Big Kahuna) then he took the next transport back home. As Zendreyu left Ms. Wailani came to the pier holding her cousin by the ear, “You bettah not start more rumors next time cousin! Embarrassing me with the employees, and Sergeant Zendreyu.”  The Big Kahuna smiled and nodded “Okay cousin.”
