Overall: Lazarus is a man who appears to be in his late 40s to late 50s, which one can guess by the few strands of grey hair and hints of wrinkles around his eyes. Otherwise, with his smooth face, well-built body, and the amount of energy he seems to have, you would never guess he is on the older side of things. Of course, as a vampire, he is far older than even that, but he tries to keep his true race and age under wraps in polite company, presenting himself as a human. But with his short wavy brown hair, piercing eyes, broad shoulders, and deep voice, he is sure to make heads turn despite his age.

As a self-proclaimed gentleman, Lazarus does his utmost to maintain a clean and well-cut appearance, favoring coats, vests, ties, slacks, and suits, all neatly tailored to his form, usually in shades of brown, black, and grey. He has an old fondness for scarves and is often seen wearing them. Lazarus also has a great fondness for canes and often carries one. He always makes sure his appearance is neat and presentable.

Extra: Lazarus has two puncture wound scars on his left wrist from where he was turned, right above his guild mark. He also uses a minor glamour on his glasses to make his eyes a yellow-hazel color instead of red and always wears glasses. He also has a streak of gray hair in his bangs and a large scar on his left leg from an old injury

Personality

Personality: Lazarus, first and foremost, considers himself a gentleman. He sees no need for himself to behave roughly, to raise his voice, or to act without decorum. Though he understands that’s not the case for everyone, and as long as the other person isn’t too rude, he is respectful of others' demeanors. He genuinely enjoys talking to people from various walks of life and is very socially inclined, though he does like to read and garden on his own as well. He enjoys having genial conversations with others and often has them with strangers, even lacking underlying motives other than genuine interest in good conversation, and maybe even a round of chess. Lazarus is not a man easily ruffled or swayed and stays calm and collected in almost all situations. All of these traits help him very much as a merchant when it comes to interacting with current and potential customers as the head of the perfectly legal Eleazar Trading and Mercantile Company.

But while the traits above are honest parts of his personality, he purposely keeps other parts hidden from those who are not criminally inclined and know about the ‘Acquisitions’ department of Eleazar. The fact that Lazarus is a man driven purely by greed and a love of jewels. He is willing to sell anything, from objects, creatures, and people, to those also willing to pay the price for them. But as a self-acknowledged person on the antisocial personality disorder spectrum (leaning towards psychopathic and narcissistic traits), Lazarus is a cautious man. Despite being a vampire with next to no moral scruples, he is not reckless. Does he indulge in sadistic behavior when he can? Of course. Would he be willing to murder just for a bit of influence? Definitely. Does he enjoy feeling power over others? Absolutely. But he values his reputation, which means at the very least not getting caught going against societal and legal laws. So while he wouldn’t care about a village getting destroyed, he would only participate in the slaughter if the chances of consequences were low. This includes his vampiric need to feed on blood, thus usually just indulges in regular or magically-bestowed blood rather than hunting for sentient prey. But overall, Lazarus is not fond of senseless violence and combat, but he will, of course, engage when necessary or amusing enough. However, as with anyone with fatal flaws, sometimes Lazarus’s greed and arrogance get in the way of caution.

Likes:

Gardening: Lazarus’s favorite hobby is gardening. He enjoys growing and shaping plants to his liking, planting saplings or seeds, tending to them, pruning them so they grow the way he wants them to, ripping them from their roots when they are unsatisfactory, and enjoying the display of a well-cared garden he has complete control over.
Coffee: While usually vampires cannot consume anything but blood without vomiting it up, Lazarus strangely has one exception: coffee. The merchant genuinely needs at least one cup of coffee a day, the blacker the better, but usually has several. It’s to the point where one of the main items of Eleazar's trade is various coffee beans just so he has a constant supply. Other vampires like to joke that Lazarus’s undead blood must be part caffeine in nature if they were to drink it.
Like Minded Individuals: That can mean many things, but in this specific case, it means people who are easy to get along with like Lazarus considers himself to a degree. You’d think that means people with closer moral inclinations to his (which is to say none), but he feels more on edge around other dark mages, though conversations can still be enjoyable. But he most enjoys talking to people on the lawful side of things as long as they don’t know all of who he is, or don’t care.
His Guild: Despite his lust for power, Lazarus has become self-aware over the years to know that he prefers to have someone else in charge of certain matters, someone that he trusts. He knows that any good merchant, let alone criminally inclined ones, needs good networks. Phantom Lord is that and more. And while the vampire isn’t exactly chaos-inclined, he values his guild and guildmates.
Older Love Interests: While as a vampire Lazarus has less of a sex drive, he enjoys feeling power over people, and being in a relationship often gives him that feeling in a more immediate fashion, making dating a bit of an addiction. Thus, Lazarus is a serial dater and heartbreaker even as a mortal, probably fathering at least a few children over the last 130 years with people who could bear children (not that he cares). But his personal preferences are people who are and act like they are 25 or older.

Dislikes:

Betrayal: As a black market merchant, or just a merchant in general, betrayal is simply a part of the job description. But Lazarus is very aware that criminals are a suspicious lot, so Lazarus having a reputation of customer loyalty is important to him, or at least his customers knowing upfront that his loyalty and their privacy have payable tiers. But Lazarus pays any backstabbers tenfold for their transgressions.
Other Vampires: Forget vampires vs werewolves, Lazarus would prefer the company of a werecreature over another vampire any day. The merchant seems to have an innate sense of rivalry with most other vampires he meets and likes to keep them at a distance. His vampire sire is an exception to this rule.
Chaos: As someone who values control above all else in his life, chaos naturally annoys Lazarus. Whether it be people or situations, chaos often just means more work for Lazarus and irritating work at that
Tax Fraud: Now, Lazarus isn’t against tax evasion in a moral sense. He’s against it in a rational sense because out of all crimes to commit, he finds tax fraud the most annoying to get out of. Thus he actually pays his taxes, though his knowledge of various ways to legally evade paying taxes spans all of the countries he deals with and is detailed.

Motivations:

Wealth: This is both the bane and boon of Lazarus’s existence. Power comes in many forms, but the type of power that gives the man the biggest rush is the power of wealth. There is nothing in the world that he values more than jewels, other than maybe the Eleazar Trading and Mercantile Company, but only since that's his biggest source of jewels

Fears:

Poverty: As someone who values wealth so much, Lazarus’s obvious greatest fear is losing that wealth, thus the power it brings, and becoming vulnerable in poverty.
Mortality: Despite being a former solider, Lazarus now dislikes combat, because ever since becoming a vampire he has begun to fear death

Magic Description: Gravity Magic is a magic that involves the manipulation of gravity. Utilizing this magic, the user can control and manipulate gravity. This can be achieved via various gestures and movements of the hand, such as simply spreading both arms with the index and middle fingers of both hands splayed, or by thrusting one hand towards the target, palm facing forward.

History

‘Everyone is a potential customer’ is the slogan for the employees of the Eleazar Trading and Mercantile Company, meant to instill the idea that anyone from every walk of life could have the company's services and merchandise be of use to them. And while most of the company is unaware of the underlying meaning of this slogan, the employees and partners of the ‘Acquisitions’ Department understand that it means anyone, from kings, beggars, and Rune Knights, might require their department's service in particular. And if it means more risk than reward for the company's CEO, then they shouldn’t be too picky about who their customer base is.

Founded in Bosco as a humble trading service over 50 years ago, Eleazar has expanded into several countries reached by land and sea, such as Caelum, Pengarde, Minstrel, Stella, Seven, Iceberg and even Talaz Lagaar. Their main trade is shipping and receiving various goods, some their own product, some belonging to other companies. The Acquisitions Department, the real reason the company as a whole exists and its biggest cash cow, also does things, but in the lines of smuggling, fencing, information selling, and the general sale of illegal goods. The Acquisitions Department is easy to contact initially and is available publicly, but to requisition their real services one must have some prior dealings or connections so they can get two things: a certain product description and a serial number, which is changed occasionally over time or if the code possibly got leaked. If they had been prerecorded as legitimate, you gain access since those two things tell the Department who gave them the information and how long ago, telling employees what levels of service you are allowed to access, and how trustworthy you are. Codes given out directly by the founder are the most valuable.

The founder, Ludwig von Lazarus, or simply Lazarus as everyone calls him, is completely dedicated and involved in the company even after 50 years of working there. When questioned about how he can remain looking like he’s in his 50s the whole time, Lazarus will laugh and say his mother was a half-elf, and because he’s only a quarter elf his long youth kicked in late, but extended his life. Which would not be a complete lie. One of his mothers was indeed a half-elf Pengarde mage noblewoman of the House of Lazarus, though a fallen minor noble house. His other mother, his Mutter, was a military mage of Bosco. The lie was Lazarus showing any signs of his elven ancestry because the real reason he never aged was that 100 years ago at the age of 50, he became a vampire.

By the time Ludwig was born 150 years ago his mothers were both in the military of Bosco, his Mutter from a military family and his Mother a former guild mage from a foreign country. When questioned about who his father was growing up, both of his mothers swore up and down that he was genetically both of theirs, something Ludwig just accepted over time. Part of Ludwig’s future twisted personality stemmed from his mothers, who were no saints themselves. When their son started showing signs of psychopathy, all they did was encourage and teach him how to hide his lack of empathy and morals, and how to take advantage of his disorder in life. Thus Ludwig naturally grew up as a liar and manipulator, and wanting to follow in his mother's footsteps, joined the Bosco military as soon as he was old enough. That was when he first mostly went by his surname Lazarus, his first name being mostly for his mothers and lovers. So Lazarus spent most of his mortal life as a soldier, and later part of the Boscan secret military force, until his 40s when he was honorably discharged after receiving a career-ending injury on his left leg, making him walk with a cane. Instead of accepting a job in military or government administration, Lazarus decided to open his very first trading company. Over the years the company didn’t do well, and he was thinking about shutting it down with what little funds he had left. That is, until an old enemy from his secret service days managed to catch him unaware, leaving Lazarus to bleed out in an alleyway on the verge of death. It was only due to the deal of the passing Nerach vampire, Vasiliy, who drank Lazarus’s blood and fed the man a drop of his own, did the merchant ‘live’ in return for giving away military secrets to the man. This was the start of a profitable relationship between sire and spawn over the years, and while Lazarus always wondered if the the attack and offer was planned by the other vampire or not, the merchant didn't care. Because as an undead creature, he learned to flourish.

Many years and several companies later, Lazarus founded Eleazar, his most successful and long-lasting company yet. His mothers, the only person he’s ever sincerely loved, passed many years ago which greatly saddened him, he otherwise had zero regrets about becoming a vampire and quite enjoyed the experience. It meant he could live longer and have greater opportunities to grow his wealth and meet interesting people. And now he’s set his sights on expanding to Fiore and to help expand his Acquisitions Department, Phantom Lord.
