| | A debating gaze danced over the rows of restaurant signs as the scents of sizzling meats, freshly baked bread, and tangy spices wafted through the crowded streets of Orchidia. The city's hospitality, as usual, was alive with its peculiar blend of charm and chaos but even so Altuo’s real entertainment was right beside him. With Goji’s stomach growling from the depths, demanding its due, he fought back a chuckle. Though the smirk curling at the edges of his sleek lips betrayed his sensibilities.
"My, my, someone’s in quite the mood today," he quipped, turning to face his companion with an air of mock surprise. "You know, for all that bravado, I never thought hunger would be the beast to finally bring you to your knees." With a languid stride, he clasped his hands behind his back and began to survey the street like a king deliberating over his feast. Posture relaxed yet brimming with zealous flair as it usually did. Amber eyes twinkling with devilish delight as he glanced back at Goji, the warrior’s expression one of restrained exasperation.
"That said, have some patience now." Altuo continued, his tone smooth, playful, and just a touch too smug. "I wouldn’t want to choose something unworthy of your insatiable appetite. Imagine the scandal if I picked a place that left you unsatisfied. Why, I’d never hear the end of it."
Eventually pausing at the entrance of a small bustling eatery. The savory aroma of stews and grilled delicacies drifting out onto the street. He tilted his head, pretending to consider it with great seriousness, though the whimsy in his actions spoke otherwise. With a glance over shoulder and raised a brow, his voice dipping into a more taunting cadence. "This one seems promising, but then again perhaps I should keep you waiting just a little longer. After all, the anticipation makes the reward all the sweeter no?"
With one almost deliberate step inched towards the restaurant, the elf swiveled on his heels, turning to face his fellow with a grin that could only be described as wicked in its ways. "Unless, of course, you think you can do better? Go on, big boy. Wow me with your refined palate. Or will you let me make the call and hope I don’t steer us somewhere dreadful?"
The challenge lingered as Altuo slithered another step forward, keeping his pace unhurried, almost daring Goji to take the lead or to argue. Whichever came first. "You’ve got about three seconds before I pick something really adventurous." The lilt in his voice made it crystal clear he’d enjoy the chaos either way. "And by adventurous, I mean a place that might just serve up vermin alongside the stew. Shall we risk it?" |
