It had been a while since Atani had visited Magnolia. She had spent some time there after her return from Athalran, so she knew she knew the town from that, but the feeling she got whenever she passed through... it was almost like déjà vu. Many towns across Fiore gave her a similar feeling, but for Magnolia it was particularly strong-- she didn't know why though. She didn't know what Kerii could have done to warrant such a feeling. It wasn't like she had been a member of Fairy Tail in her past. Atani knew that much. Her memory may have still been spotty, but the key moments were still there. The only guild she had been part of was Lamia Scale, and that was stationed in Orchidia. So that again begged the question: why Magnolia? Perhaps taking on a few jobs in the town would jog the elf's memory.

One of the many things she still remembered was the direction to Magnolia's request board. As she made her way towards it, she thought about what sort of jobs she might want to take there. Her training with Yuan had come far over the year, but neither her strength nor control were where she wanted them to be yet.

"You should give it a shot," Yuan spoke from within her mind. Atani shook her head. The goddess was less incessant in her requests these days, but she still often desired to front and work her magic. It was... understandable. Atani didn't like the feeling of being confined either, but this was her body too, and she had already spent so much of her life in fear of losing control over it. She would eventually concede to Yuan's request, but not now. Not so early in her visit to Magnolia town.

Arriving at the request board, she took inventory of the available jobs. As usual, being such a central town with a major guild inhabiting it, there were plenty of jobs to choose from. Battles, bandits, construction... Huh. Atani's eyes fell on a particular quest-- something put out by a 'Little Old Nan.' An old woman wanted someone to do grocery shopping for her. For such a simple task, she was willing to pay a decent amount of jewels. It didn't quite hold up to some other, more prosperous, quests that were being offered, but it wasn't like Atani was particularly strapped for cash at the moment. She was perfectly fine with taking this job. Tearing it off the board, she began to make her way over to the address listed. Again, she had little difficulty navigating the town, and was able to arrive at her destination shortly. Upon reaching Little Old Nan's house, she knocked on the door.

"Just a moment," called a shrill, weathered voice from behind the door. Atani waited patiently for the woman to arrive. When she eventually came and opened the door, Atani was met with a short elderly woman, hunched over in a dark cloak with frayed white hair. With a long, crooked nose, she looked very much like your standard fairy tale witch.

The elf greeted the woman and held up her request to show her reason for coming. Delighted that someone had picked it up, Little Old Nan invited her in and shuffled over to a table where another piece of paper lay resting. Atani followed. The old woman picked it up and handed it to her: it was the grocery list. A fairly standard one at that-- nothing exotic she would have to venture to multiple shops to acquire, as has been characteristic of some previous jobs the mage had taken.

Atani reassured the old woman that she would run her errands and have her groceries back to her shortly. The woman thanked the elf briefly before her departure. After, she proceeded to the nearest marketplace.

Atani could see why the old woman wanted some help. Although the walk was no trouble for most people, it would have been a little far for someone like Little Old Nan. And then there was the shopping itself and the carrying of the groceries... It made her think for a moment just how long the woman had been relying on people doing this for her.

Upon arriving at the marketplace, she went from stall to stall, purchasing the goods on Little Old Nan's list. In no time at all, she was finished and had begun to make her way back to the old woman's place, when she felt an odd presence... like someone was following her.

It didn't take long for Atani to determine just who it was stalking her. It was an old man. Based on appearances alone, he didn't seem to be much of a threat, but Atani was sure to keep an eye on him. When she was about half a mile from Little Old Nan's place, the old man decided to make his move. He lunged at her from behind, reaching for her groceries. He was surprisingly fast for his age, but her reflexes were quicker. She dashed out of the way and morphed into a kite. Groceries now in the claws of her talons, she soared upwards, well out of reach from the old man.

She flew towards Little Old Nan's place. Though she was far out of reach from the man, he still attempted to run after her, occasionally trying to jump and grab for the groceries. Eventually, Atani safely landed on Little Old Nan's property. The old woman hastily came to the door and yelled at the man, shooing him away. She apologized for the trouble and gave Atani her reward.
