Lumikki

Lumikki of Iceberg

"My eyes are open."

Lumikki was flipping through the pages of her notes, all collected in her time with the libraries of Talaz Laggar. She counted her blessings for staying within those bleak walls, thumbing through their reports and reading over their cases within the long stretched of time between her missions and quest. This was in fact how she spent and wasted her time, all since the point where she was still a Daemon. Fresh and new to all things technological. It was how Lumikki garnered the bulk of information she had about the horrid and illusive island. Hungrily learning what she could about the information regarding technology that was readily available amid the many archives. Though she did not think her hoarding tendencies for knowledge would come in handy so soon. Yet with all the run-ins with the void has been compelling her to see.

Deep within her earliest, were some mentions of the void indeed. With even some notes staying that this was the source of her blessed staff. She didn’t think much of it then, but she was grateful in her tendencies to chase her musings. As there were a few more instances in which the void was referenced. If Lumikki really wanted, she could make use of a special key she came upon to get the noted back in its completion. Have them written in verbatim to their entirely from the island’s library. She was even mulling it over in all seriousness, making a day out of it with Alvis, one of the highest of her Eight Pinions. Yet for now, she’d make do with what she had.

It was the two recent occurrences that had her stipulating. In her curiosity, she very much wanted to understand and confirm this Void-like presence. Study it even and how it faired with that of the Abyss. Lumikki found this concept vexing, but sadly it was the reality.

So as Lumikki read over her notes and wrote even more about the things in recent events, face pursed and hand reaching for her like warm tea, she would hide away in a corner within the library. Her favorite one in fact, besides all the folklores and stories of legends pertaining to many lands. Next to a large window that feed the room a nice and warm stream of sunlight.

So when Lumikki heard the footsteps heading right toward her, she very well had an idea of who it could be, but it did not mean she was pleased.“Sorry to bother you my Lady, but another one of those quests were sent to the guild it seems. I would assume you’d want yer usual companions?”

With a deep sigh, Lumikki sat back in her seat and looked over to Alvis. He could see all the tired frustration in her eyes. “Aye and while yer at it, a new cup of tea….tell Ittindi to meet back up here in the North so we could discuss this new case and leave together.”

“Very well.” He’d mention before stepping back out. Meanwhile Lumikki went back to her notes only to write faster.

Brone Heavyaxe

Brone Heavyaxe looked himself in the mirror as he ran a gloved hand over his well groomed beard. His favored blue armor made of nevermelting ice had shimmered in the light as the frozen air trailed off it. He would then throw on his white polar bear cloak before turning and viewing his reflection, admiring his look.

"What's the point of grooming yourself so much when you're expecting to go into battle?" Huginn asked as he perched himself on the top of the doorframe.

"Do ye not preen yerself all the time?" Brone scoffed as he picked up his golden shield and looked it over, making sure he had polished it well.

"I don't go into back" Huginn's tone matched the dwarf's scoff.

"Lumikki's in the library" Muninn had flown in and landed upon Brone's right shoulder. The dwarf sighed with satisfaction as he looked into the mirror one last time before stowing his golden axe and picking up his bag. As he exited, Huginn landed upon his other shoulder.

They made their way through the corridors and crossed the campus of the guild and found his way to the specific library where Muninn had spotted the ice demoness. Twisting and turning through the aisles and making his way through the quiet echoey library, Brone followed Muninn's instructions until he finally spotted his niece.

"Ready when ye are, lass" Brone said as he finally found his niece amongst the books as if she was hiding away. Though the dwarf didn't really understand how the young lady could spend so much time reading so many books and not get tired or bored, he was supportive of her and commended her for her patience and reading ability, "What's the mission this time and what are we expected te find?" he was ready, itching to get back to the fight and danger, though he had to be reminded a few times of why they had initially set out on finding these dungeons; he was fortunate to have Muninn remind him so often without him getting irritable.

Ittindi
The wide-open road well more like open ice, Ittindi’s mana car had no problem with the terrain, due to the custom model’s uniqueness. The letter Lady Lumikki sent like the last, another danger this time in a warn torn land. It seemed that since his last visit that the Monarch had expanded her influence, still the Rune Knights had not been mobilized or requested. Ittindi wouldn’t be the one to break decorum, that was the job of the other higher ups. With the car’s top down, any semblance of order in Ittindi’s hair had been destroyed. He still felt odd wearing a different outfit than his signature tuxedo, he was still waiting on his other order to come through. In the meantime, he didn’t have armor, which meant he had to careful lest he explode on Lady Lumikki or Sir Brone.  He wanted to test the car’s heater and while it was snowing around him he remained at a comfortable temperature.

He'd park his car putting the top on examining his messy hair and tossing it around a little more for effect before adjusting and tightening his tie and checking for any last pieces hanging off his suit. Satisfied he’d walk upstairs; his goal was a simple one to try and take the suit home in the same condition. A job he had failed spectacularly a couple times with his Young Master a true test of his grit, that he hadn’t participated in for quite a while.

As he arrived at the gates of their Guild Hall sending off either a servant or a guild member Ittindi wasn’t sure would escort him. He wasn’t sure if he was being taken to a waiting area or to Lady Lumikki herself either way Ittindi would be inspecting the Guild Hall. He had heard about the move but had yet to see the grounds. Once he was in front of Lady Lumikki and Sir Brone he would bow while greeting them.

”Greetings Lady Lumikki, Sir Brone, the grounds look splendid are you liking your time back in your homeland?”

Zeno
Zeno found himself tossing and turning in bed all morning. The chirping birds sang songs of joy as they celebrated spring. From the constant noise and restless feeling riddling his body caused the fae to give up on rest and get out of bed. Springing forth from his king-sized bed and stepping across the cold tile floors until he found himself on the balcony of his room. The busy body he was used to being has grown to a complete halt from lack of missions recently. The feeling of complacency was like a poison withering away his compass of life. Finding his sister was a strong motivation, but it was also extremely taxing. As he looked at the horizon, a gentle breeze blew in, filling his nose with the raw scent of the trees below and caressing his skin like that of a lover’s embrace. This feeling of aromatherapy worked wonders for Zeno as it brought him a calmness that was forgotten.

“You always answer my calls and console me, but you, too, cannot guide me to what I desire most… I hold no grudge towards you, only thanks.” Zeno sincerely said his thanks to forest spirits. As a gesture of gratitude, he conjured a myriad of green wisps in the shape of butterflies and released them over the balcony. They fluttered across the winds, littering the sky with a glittery flickering green. The wind guided the butterflies into an area with a dirt road where each of them landed. When the butterflies touched the dirt, new life sprouted from the soil. Seeing the green embers in the distance fade made Zeno smile softly.

“Now would be a good time to stretch my wings for a bit” Zeno let out a big yawn before raising his hands toward the sun as if reaching to grasp it. Interlocking his fingers, pulling up his hands to give his arms, shoulders and upper back a good long stretch. While stretching, his wings materialized from his back. The insect-like wings had a pattern that mimicked stained-glass found within a church, they were imbued with the colors of amber, red, green, and black.

Zeno moments later released his arms slowly as he was done with his stretching and began flapping his wings, taking flight. Soaring around the Guild estate, he spotted a car on the road approaching the main gates of the guild. Witnessing this, he flew back into his room and immediately set off towards the main area. Along the way, he spotted a dwarf heading towards the library. Unbeknownst to him as to why, Zeno hung in the air watching over the main entrance to see who the guest approaching was.

A well-dressed man entered the main hall of the guild and shortly after found his way to the library. “Hmmm. An acquaintance maybe?” Zeno swooped down to the entrance to the library, curious as to what was going on, he pushed through the doors, seeing Lumikki, the dwarf from before, and the well-dressed man. “Greetings lady Lumi, gentlemen” Zeno respectfully bowed to the three before fully entering the room and flying overhead.

Lumikki

Lumikki of Iceberg

"My eyes are open."

New guild hall:

The weather outside the guild was calm, though the wind came and went. The chill hanging in the air, but not enough to suffocate any who lingered outside. The people of Iceberg were a simple folk, long used to the snow and slush of their environment. Now what they weren’t privy to was the sight of a mana car driving along their narrow streets but they assumed it would be the cause of Paradise Dawn bring such absurdity to their lands.

Most roads lead to the massive castle like structure that acted as the new guild hall. It would be in this direction that Ittindi went as he answered the Demoness’ call to quell the void once more. And soon after he parked just before their main entrance, he’d find one of Lumikki’s Eight Pinions waiting amid the guards awaiting his arrival. ”Greetings sir, are you the one I believe to be call Ittindi?” He would be met with a tall woman with long black hair tied back in intricate braids. She wore a deep green, layered dress that presented a variety of traditional Iceberg patterns and motifs. There was fur trim along her collar and sleeves and gold detailing along the hems. Aside from her dress, she also wore an assortment of accessories that accentuated her pleasant beauty. A particular detail, one could miss if they didn’t pay her mind beyond her face, was the small pair of black wings folded by her waist. They almost came together like a belt, as if intended for fashion. And a few strands of her hair would morph into feathers that were carefully placed. ”I applaud you for coming so quickly to my Lady’s request. She will brief you on the details herself, but I believe she is in the library now. So if you would follow me, I can take you to her.” The woman give a slight bow before turning to the end of the hall, from which she will escort Ittindi from there.

Brone was the first to find her, as to be expected, for Hugin and Munin were often privy on important matters and keen to assist. He came in with the tinkering sound of clanking metal, and his armor added a pleasant chill onto the air. It was fair to say that despite how tucked into the library the Guild Master was, she could tell he was coming from a mile away.”Glad to hear it Uncle, shouldn’t be long now. Me ravens tell me they saw a strange carriage in the distance, to which I infer is probably a mana car. Should mean Ittindi is not that far and we could get going from here.” Lumikki with eyes still along her pages and a finger to mark her place, did not look up properly to greet him. She was trying not to lose her train of thought just yet, not until she sorted a few more details out. And when she did, she’d lean back in her seat with a sigh and look at Brone properly. ”Sadly it would be the same nonsense as always Brone. The void, if it were, is opening another portal with the country of Pregrande. Hardly me jurisdiction mind ya, but I ain’t planing on doing it for ‘em. I simply need to collect more notes on the matter to assure out safety is all. Can’t have more riffs opening in Iceberg can I?”

Alvis would be the next to step through the aisles and find her, this time with a fresh cup of tea in hand and a small treat. Lumikki took both things hungrily with a look of relief on her face. She didn’t think that in the time of her reign, there would be so many matters to overlook, but she was grateful for the work all the same if it left her far more experienced in its completion.

”Lavender to calm the nerves my Lady. By the way, I spotted Erica in the distance. She will be here soon with your guest.” He understood how tried out she was and let her take the snack in before overloading her with more. ”Greetings Brone, ready for battle I take it? Do you need a meal before you and the Lady take off?”

Just a few minutes later, Erica would enter Lumikki’s corner as well with Ittindi not far behind her. Surprisingly, Zeno would appear as well but his presence didn’t bother her. That is of course, if he didn’t intend to join the bunch in their work.

”Ye have no idea,” Lumikki sighed but happily, a smile extended along her lips with concealed glee. She was more than happy to be home and enjoy the boons of her land once more. The comforts in Iceberg were simply unrivaled. ”I couldn’t shake off the feeling that Fiore was becoming far too small. What more, the North was always the Warden’s domain. If I was gonna amass a headache for it, I should at least invest into me own. And of course, I’ve heard whispers that he might have plans for the people of the North himself. So if ye ask me, the timing couldn’t be more perfect.” Lumikki took another sip as she looked over Zeno. There was no arrogance in her gaze, only the fondness she usually possessed, but it would be this very fondness that propelled her to assure he stayed within the guild.

”Been a while hasn’t it Zeno. How are ye taking to yer room? The decor far exceeds the last, that I know, but I am aware that the change in environment could prove a lot for most. Especially one that I assume to align most with summer, least judging by those wings of yers.” Lumikki waved over her tea in a gesture of invitation. ”Of course, ye just got here me friend. Perhaps we could take a moment to rest before the three of us head off. Alvis was offering Brone a meal, if ye’d like, the offer extends to ya as well. What have ye, there is no particular rush as the riff won’t leave without us having the say about it. And in the meantime Ittindi, I could go over me notes. Perhaps ye have some as well considering the Rune Knights also fair well in information.”

”If you take my Lady’s word, we can have a meal ready in a half an hour. That is of course, if Erica sees to it.” Alvis looked expectantly for answers. He was fairly posed in his feathery like shawl that mimicked Lumikki’s plumage. Ends of his long and loose hair came to feathers themselves that hung atop of small pair of black wings, in loose locks and carefully made braids. And just like Erica, he was dressed quite nicely in a formal blouse and trousers that were lined intricately in golden thread and avian designs. ”You know quite well that I’d be the one to see it through Alvis. For now it’s best that Eirunn practices her skills with the Dwarfs…least they have a hardier stomach than both and the fire and ale to keep it down.” An answer Erica returned rather hushed as she didn’t want to alarm the guests, but she couldn’t hold off a cheeky response to Alvis either.

The pair were Lumikki’s more accountable Pinions and the ones that oversaw most matters directly involving the Demoness. They were two of eight peculiar servants that originated from an odd key Lumikki got hold of when at the market. One that match her previous Guild Master for that matter. The people it sprung were of homunculi origin, though Lumikki regarded them as her own all the same; and in a way that she wouldn’t say, she liked them better than most people. Each of the eight have their own personalities, appearances, strengths, and way of dress but something interesting that they all share is their unanimous transition to acquiring bird like features. It was as if their very nature was set to become extensions of their masters and as such, take on the traits most prominent to the owner of the key. Of course in the end this only served to make Lumikki fond of them even more, already privy to put them in the best Icebergain dress to their liking but now she only spoiled them more. And so one can say the relationship between servant and master has been quite the amicable one.

"Meh, we'll handle it like we did twice before, simple" Brone shrugged, not worried about the affects of the Void and it's influence upon their realm. Alvis had then entered with a cup of tea for Lumikki; the dwarf had assumed the well dressed servant would offer him a cup of tea or coffee and was ready to decline the offer, but hearing the offer of a meal, he couldn't let that by, "Well, we'll be on a quest soon, might as well fill our bellies before hand" Brone smiled. Huginn and Muninn flew from the dwarf's shoulders and landed upon Lumikki's, for they felt more comfortable in the care of the woman who felt more like kin to them.

Soon enough, Ittindi would be led in by Erica, followed by Zeno. Brone would slam a closed fist against his chest in salute to them, though the room was filled with gestures of etiquette and appearances to match, Brone didn't stand too far out of the picture, since he had learned basic etiquette during his time in Blue Pegasus. "Aye, though I wasn't born and raised here, tis the home of me grandparents" the dwarf laughed with joy and excitement.

There was a small exchange of words between Alvis and Erica, which Brone didn't understand the subtle joke, it had taken him half a minute to catch it before he blurted out a laughter. "Ye ain't wrong there, lass!" he would hesitate from nudging him playfully, remembering that the guild, though not fully strict in decorum as Blue Pegasus, he didn't want to upset the air of decency and etiquette.

Brone would then turn to Zeno to properly greet himself, given this was the first time he was able to approach him, "Nice wings on ye, lad, good te meet ye finally, saw ye once and twice flying about" he would reach out his gloved hand, presenting a chance to grip into a hearty handshake.

Ittindi
”I am Ittindi, a pleasure to meet you, thank you for escorting me.”

He’d follow one of the illusive servants of Lady Lumikki they had an odd gimmick of being invisible. He wasn’t sure if it was an enchantment of their doing Lady Lumikki’s or worse some kind of curse. Either way Ittindi found it slightly charming, to be seen only by your work instead of the merits of one’s physical appearance. It was something that plagued those who weren’t as beautiful when seeking out this line of work.

Ittindi was surprised to see well he wasn’t sure what he was seeing. It didn’t seem to be human, that didn’t surprise him as much as it should. At least he had manners, and ultimately that was something more of his human compatriots could take lessons in. It seemed that in Paradise Dawn being a human made you a minority. He wondered if that’s why his Young Master ended up leaving or if there was another reason. He hadn’t had time to explore his reasoning for reviving Sleeping Calamity. It also didn’t help that he had seen Lady Jikan active around the guild hall as well. His thoughts would snap back to the problem at hand, as the servants spoke to each other. Sir Brone returned his greeting with a crisp salute, while Lady Lumikki wanted to go over notes. Luckily for the Rune Knights Ittindi had visited there recently.

”Funny enough Lady Lumikki I don’t have notes because of the Rune Knights. Instead its due to my vacation there I met both the leader of Fairy Tail and the Leader of the Dragon Order. It was an interesting trip to say the least, all inspired by a vision from Naki.”

Ittindi would go over to where Lady Lumikki was sitting and pull out his notes comparing and going over any questions she had, while Sir Brone would be fed some kind of meal. He was apparently going to let one of the newer staff test their cooking prowess on him. Their setting being much more familial than the one that he was inducted into the service world in. He hoped that they wouldn’t run into the Lady Monarch on one of her raids, while Ittindi kept a strict deference to the Rune Knights neutrality. He doubted that Sir Brone and Lady Lumikki would be so impassioned oat the sight of starving and war-torn villagers and orphans. Or he’d find out something more interesting about Paradise Dawn, he assumed they were good but their negative reputation had to grow from somewhere.

Zeno
“The new room is exquisite I must say, my lady Lumi. From the wonderfully stylish decor to room spaciousness, it gives me plenty of room to spread my wings as I see fit. Which is quite the luxury, thank you.” He paused briefly to process a thought in his head pertaining to the change in question Lumi had asked him.

“hmmm, The environmental change has not really been a problem for me since I got accustomed to traveling around. I was quite nomadic before settling down here in the guild” The fae cheerily spoke to the guild master as he lazily fluttered around the room while glancing at the rest of the group. “Thanks, I would enjoy some tea and toast if possible. I would rather eat light if I'm going on a quest soon. So count me in on whatever you have planned.”

After answering her questions he flew over to the dwarf who he had also spoken out to greet him. Zeno had only seen Brone a handful of times bumbling around the guild but this was the very first time they had officially interacted with one another. Pleased to meet another member of the guild, he gladly returned the gesture of the dwarf by firmly shaking his hand. “It is an honor to meet you Sir Brone. Rather nice to put a name to a face” The strong tough hands texture of the dwarf hands matched its rugged tough look of him.

“Thanks for noticing them, I am quite happy with how they look, I take great pride in them”
Letting go of the dwarf’s hand, stepping backwards to give enough space between them to match his wingspan length. Once there was enough space Zeno sprouted his wings wide then folded them over his chest to give Brone a closer look at the color and detailed patterns on them.

“Here, have a better look while we wait for our meal and refreshments”
Deep Emptiness [Void Cavern] Img_9010

As he was showing off his wings to Brone Zeno turned his focus from the dwarf to the well dressed man who he followed. Giving the man a welcoming smile and waving his left hand to them as a greeting gesture. Quickly turning his attention back to Brone as the well dressed man walked past him to where Lumi was sitting. Keeping his ears alert in case anything important is discussed between the two behind.

Lumikki

Lumikki of Iceberg

"My eyes are open."

Lumikki upon noticing her Uncle’s reaction, raised a brow in confusion. And knowing all too well how subtlety was a lofty thing that often went over his head, she’d simply blurt it out. ”What have ye Brone? It’s not like ya to hold back to that degree. I mean, I know they look fragile, but they ain’t made of air. Ye ain’t as fun when yer not in high spirits ya know.” This was all partly for a tease to have some fun, but also to burst the bubbles now so that things could settle in faster. A lot of things have changed all at once, even for—especially for her; but she couldn’t patiently wait until all things were sorted and people took their ages to find comfort in their new home.

But her merriment would extinguish the moment Zeno invited himself along, forced a deep sigh to escape her lips as her annoyance clearly showed. ”Is that right lad?….Guess ye can’t be worse than the previous fool that tagged along. Yer far more competent. Brone, I assign him to ya. Best to start looking over his training now that ye’ve met. This probably won’t be as bad as the last one but we never know. This is territory we don’t know well after all.” Lumikki sits back in her seat, her eyes still on fae who was having far to much fun showing of his wings. Ittindi now approaches her discuss the information they have.

”Really now?….” She mulled it over as her glowing eyes slowly shifted from the pair to the side and back to Ittindi who stood tall before her. The Demoness’ curiosity knew now bounds but the conversation was best saved for when they had the free time to enjoy it over a walk or some tea. ”I’ve met them both at some point but never at once. Can’t imagine how they’d be like in one room….” She’d flash a playful smile and start packing her stuff away into a neat pile before tucking them into her personal portal. ”Ye could tell me more about it over the meal.”

───  ─── ─── ─── ───∘°❉°∘ ─── ─── ─── ─── ───

When the meal was concluded, the party finished their preparations for the journey. Unlike Iceberg, their travels couldn’t possibly get any colder and so they kept it mind. Lumikki decided for the sake of all involve, the best route was to keep to land travel. Knowing Ittindi might not want to part with his mana car nor Brone with the very ground. Lumikki would ride on Hugo.

”Ittindi, would ye mind if Zeno rides with ya? Or perhaps would ya like to ride upon a wolf as well Zeno if Brone could spare one of his?”Once that matter was sorted, they could be off. Hulda, a new companion to the Demoness made sometime in Joya during a beautiful festival, rode on her lap as she mounted her Tempest wolf. The little one was inseparable to the frost mage like a duckling and their mother but it brought Lumikki confront ever since the matter with Tenevi.

The trip took its course, spanning three days worth of travel. The party stopped along inns during the way and for nights when they could not, they simple stayed within the lodge that Lumikki could summon by key. Most of the routes they took we scenic, rarely entering the villages or the towns as their destination was quite the distance from usual populations. The little they could see on the other hand was jarring, almost desolate. The conditions were boarding pitiful, but she could not yet understand the reasons why. Pregrande was a big country, where Iceberg supersedes in height, Pregrande does in pure width. So Lumikki inferred that those among the boarderlands might be suffering the most for it, but of course there was also the matter of the proceeding war.

”Ye’ve been here, aye? Tell me about the state of things if ya would Ittindi.” The party was nearly at the base of the mountain where her reports said to be. In a matter of hours, they will be within the distance of the void disruption. Of course, it wouldn’t help the Guild Master if she was able to learn more, especially about the matters of the world. ”Brone, ye’ve seen yer share of battles and war. What do ye make of this country and its suffering? I’ve made an alliance with the Guild Master of these parts. To aid her in her desire to take over the reigns, but I know not of the details that proceeded her interference, nor the peoples desires.” Lumikki a Demoness, wasn’t entirely heartless. Even if she wanted to be, and she did, she no longer could. She became to intricately tied with fate and the cosmos, she became a Valkyrie. It would be for that reason that she couldn’t overlook the mess entirely, but she would not make this a burden of Iceberg to bear. This was not a kindness her people offered, and she would not impose on them for free. Still, she had others to command and send. So those of her personal order within the Valr Frostguard will have to see to it for her. With a simple message sent by a raven, she’d have that task sorted and more information about the country within a month.

”This felt like it took ages! Uncle, ye really should rethink the need to always travel by land. I swear doing so in the sky is always better.” They were finally at the base of the mountain now, but without a guide, they’d have to fine the direct location on their own. ”This is the edge of me knowledge lads, but me ravens will know more within an hour or so, we’ll just have to wait until they report back what they’ve seen.” And just like the, the mage conjured herself a cushioned seat with the magic of her Roku-bi no Tsukiko, which was six orbiting Joyan beads that circled around her neck. And after a brief moment, she’d take out a book to enjoy as well.

Brone Heavyaxe

Brone gripped Zeno's hand firmly, solidifying their introduction as they exchanged expressions. The dwarf chuckled happily before releasing the hand, "Aye, they are beauts indeed" he complimented the wings, they seem to reflect such a wonderous light that seem entrancing. Something about them seem magical and otherworldly; Brone had seem many forms of magic in his time since he started his adventure, but the color and glow seem different.

It was Lumikki's voice that caught Brone and pulled him from his trance. "Hold back?" It took him a moment to  comprehend what she meant, then he chuckled, "Ah lass, I'm trying te be..." he halted his words for amoment as he quickly pulled out a small book, his trusty 'How to be a Gentleman' book he has kept since he was in Blue Pegasus; he quickly flipped through a few pages, "Genteel" he says with a wide smile before putting his book away.

As Lumikki continued with idle conversation, Brone looked about to see if he could get the attention of one of the servants so he could ask for some ale, but no one was nearby, so he would pull out from his inner pocket a flask of whisky. He would quickly sneak a swig before he would be noticed, but Lumikki's words caused him to nearly choke, "Assign!?" he coughed. He would then look to Zeno, who's wings had already furled, looking as if he was wearing a cloak that was tailored for royalty. He then would sigh before shrugging as he would put his flask back into his pocket, "Alright, I'll train him the best I can" he would smirk. It was rather amusing, for a moment he was going to question the assignment, but realized how things have changed since his niece had joined Paradise Dawn; she no longer stood before him as a new recruit... but as his guild master, "Aye, madam"  he would then clench his fist and touch it to his chest over his heart in salute, his attitude discarding any amusement to show Lumikki he respected her decision.

* * *

After having a quick meal, the group made their way. As Lumikki rode upon Hugo's back, Brone rode upon Pete's back. The dwarf had brought forth the third wolf, Geri, who is the eldest of them, so that Zeno can ride along with them by lupine. They would travel for three days, periodically stopping to rest and getting a chance to chat a bit and hopefully get to know one another better.

Eventually they would reach the base of the mountain. As Lumikki sent her ravens to scout the area, Brone would wonder where Huginn and Muninn, his own ravens, had gone too, for they should be scouting as well, but he shrugged, knowing their personality well.

Ittindi
Ittindi chuckled at Lady Lumikki’s thinking they he had met both guild masters at the same time. He hadn’t been very clear, so he’d explain it all taking a small pause in the middle of speaking to reflect on his adventures before continuing.

”Well you see Lady Lumikki, I didn’t see both Guild Masters at the same time. When I met Lady Judith, she prefers me to call her Lady Judy in person, she was quite kind and we share a large amount of hobbies. It is always a pleasures to meet another housemaker, the work goes to unappreciated and as a result few find their passion in such a noble endeavor. She was flower hunting, I was yearning for nature after my element change. We didn’t really talk about much besides our love for cleaning and cooking.”

The other reason that Ittindi found Lady Judith so interesting, her magic was supposedly very powerful. Ittindi found comfort in knowing that even with strength one could still enjoy the same things as before, a thought that had worried Ittindi as he grew stronger. Would there come a point where they’d try to discourage his butler duties? That’d be the day he’d become independent most likely.

”Lady Ryuko on the other hand, I met her while she was in the middle of conquest. It was on the way back from meeting Lady Judith, while she was quite cordial, I worry how you and Sir Brone might react to the sight of warfare. I of course had to remain neutral as the Rune Knights haven’t been told to adjudicate the current brewing civil war in Pergrande. The land is quite war torn, well at least the section I was at, I imagine such bloodlust only fuels the void. I fear that with the continuing breaches, that we’re not close to stopping it.”

Ittindi wondered after he finished if his magic would be affected if he destroyed the void. Would that even be a bad thing? Ittindi had already learned so much that he could resurrect himself without the magic, though it wasn’t as effective and he would supposedly become younger in physical age. A good trick once he started to have grey hairs, after Lady Lumikki went through the plan he’d speak up.

”I don’t mind taking him in the car at all, though if he scuffs any of the seats I expect to be able to pick the flower arrangement in your eventual wedding.”

Ittindi said the last part in jest, he wasn’t exactly thrilled to have a non-human in his car. However, the man showed manners which was more than enough for Ittindi. It’d be three days of riding, he doubted they do it straight if that was the case he’d have to teach the man how to drive. Luckily the car was intuitive requiring little to no mana from mages such as them.

3 Days Later
-----------------------------------------------------

Ittindi was surprised that they traveled in such comfort, he was worried that traveling with a Demon, Dwarf and whatever Sir Zeno was. Ittindi rarely asked about others races, while his face remained stoic, he always worried he accidently say something that gave up his racism. Their travel through the country went as Ittindi expected, the signs of war spread between the north and southern host of the Dragon Order. He had half expected to see Lady Ryuko at the void’s incursion, as Lady Lumikki asked him for his current assessment of the land.

”Looks to be accurate to the Rune Knights information, that this is a mountainous terrain occupied by mercenaries and horsemen. A brutal climate though you might found that laughable as this is dry weather compared to your frozen tundra.”

Lady Lumikki would send out her ravens to scout, while the rest of the party waited. Ittindi had turned the car back on and was letting the Air condition blow cold air on him and Sir Zeno if he was still in the car. It always seemed to be one extreme or another, why couldn’t a villain show up in a beach side resort or something.

Zeno
“Thanks for noticing my newfound friend, we Fae have nothing but the finest wings of any creature in Fiore but not many get to see them up close.” Zeno softly laughs to himself while parading his wings to the dwarf. A jingle rings, followed by wheels rolling across the tile floor, the distinct sound of silverware, cups, and plates clanking on the cart brought in by Erica.

With the meal and refreshments finally arriving, Zeno gleefully approached the cart to pick out something light and sweet, as he was not a big eater. Lumi spoke to Brone giving him direct orders to watch over the fae. The way she spoke was as if whoever tangled with them on their last mission was not cut out for it or at least had some bad synergy, Zeno thought to himself while sipping on some tea. This comment reminded him of his most recent venture into the void dungeon in the Deep Green where he first met with Salem and Fen. His synergy with the two was not the best either so to speak. Salem's proficiency in healing made things go smoothly. As for Fen, they are no longer with us which was a sad thought.

Zeno was lost in thought for some time as Brone and the visitor talked with Lumi. Murmurs of what they were saying spilled over into his mind. He was able to put together that they were all going to a Pergrande to handle some business and he would be traveling with the man called Ittindi. Zeno had no problem with this situation or the man, but one thing that he did not enjoy was the unwelcoming aura Ittindi gave way.
As things went underway Zeno found himself to be quiet the entire time and paid his respect to the servants for the tasty meal before departing.
__

A few days passed, 3 days to be exact and they had finally reached their destination. They were sitting at the foot of a mountain and the surroundings were pretty desolate. The fae’s attention had been focused on the road mainly the whole ride here, looking out the window and sleeping whenever possible to preserve whatever energy was needed for the upcoming quest. Even the animals stayed away from this area to Zeno’s knowledge. His fae vision allowed him to see the spirit of the living beings but also showed him the flow of mana. The veins of the land were very thin around the base of the mountain compared to the other areas they passed on the way here.

Ittindi suddenly came to the car after debriefing with Lumi and Brone.
“Heyo, Thanks for the ride, by the way, One of the best drivers I rode with I must say.” Zeno complimented the man with a smirk as he sat in the back seat with the door open and his legs hanging out of the car.

“This area is dying, its mana flow is being sucked away the spirits are crying out for help… The sensations coming from the mountain are stronger than the one I felt in the forest back in North Fiore, I wonder what's in store for us…” The fae face was riddled with concern as he spoke indirectly to the Ittindi before taking a deep sigh and getting out of the car to stretch and await further instructions.

Lumikki

Lumikki of Iceberg

"One is an Omen, Eight for a wish"

An hour passed, and still no word beyond a few reports given by her raven. Lumikki was unbothered as she continued to read her book and now she was half way through. Her party did their best to stay cool in the dry heat of Pergrande, as did the frost mage who chilled the air around her. Yet even though it chased the wicked heat, the air still felt a burden to breathe.

”An odd place to want conquer,” Lumikki mentioned as she turned the page. The party was not lacking in cold water or snacks as she pulled them from her realm, but they did not satiate the dullness of their environment or ease the distasteful weather. ”Ittindi, would ye say there’s any charm to this country?” Her curiosity was beginning to spill out but it wouldn’t be long until Lonu, one of her more reliable ravens, returned with more word.

”Lady, sorry to keep you. For some time, there was nothing of note to bring back. It was as if nothing was there. It was only by chance that one of the birds caught a shimmer, a glimpse at a portal in a crevice high up on the mountain. We could take you there, but for those of them that can’t fly, it’ll be quite the climb. The stone face seems steep an unstable.“ Lonu perched himself onto the back of her chair as he delivered to her the bulk of the message. All while Lumikki was skimming the page to settle just where she’d leave off as she listened to him at the same time. ”Is that sooo?” Lumikki smirked, she wondered just how the others would take the news. Besides her, she knew Zeno could fly, and though Brone could, he often chose not to. Not like it should prove a problem for the hardy Dwarf anyhow, a man who was one with the stone and raised upon scaling cliffs. Oh, it would be Ittindi that caused her the most wonder.

”Me birds could least up to where we seek, but it would be a harsh climb to get there. Zeno, would ye be a dear and stay along side me to provide them support? As for ya two, ye’ll have to mange the rock face but I’m sure Brone can help ye maintain footing Ittindi. Now let’s get things sorted,” Lumikki rose from her seat the broke into smoke and air. Ceasing to exist the moment she had no need for it. And she’d wonder to the mana car. ”Take anything ye need now as ya won’t be able to take it further toward the mountain.” When they were ready, Lumikki snapped her fingers, causing a gust of wind and smoke to take it to her personal realm. With help from her necklace, the thing was safely tucked away.

”Pete dear,” The wolf that had wrapped itself around her as the Demoness was seated and stayed glued to her side even now, nuzzled into her side quite happily as he awaited her request. Lumikki took his muzzle by hand, pulling his snout to her face so that she could kiss his nose. ”Ittindi will be riding ye to the mountain love, do ye think ya could manage some of the climb with him on yer back?” Pete took a moment to look the man over, having seen him a few times before and for the duration of the three passing days. Once he was assured, he gently pushing into Lumikki with his head and begrudgingly lowered himself by the butler. ”Zeno, we could take flight starting here.” After bending down to pick up Hulda, Lumikki’s wings unfurled. All four pulled back until they were their max length, stretching and folding until she was ready to take off.

”Shall we?” Lumikki remarked with a smirk, taking off with Zeno not to far on her side, the party made their way to their final destination. With the pair just about ten meters above to keep watch as the other pair followed along bellow. ”Will ye be alright Zeno? Ya could still turn back should ye want to.” Lumi assured as she scanned the terrain. Something made her feel uneasy, but she wouldn’t admit that now. ”Well, I told Brone to watch over yer training but I am here for ya as well. The creatures of the void are rather erratic and dangerous and I worry for what could happen to ye, but I suppose I shouldn’t mother a budding hunter like yerself. Ye’ve proved capable….I guess somehow I’ve grown to worry too much.”

The moment pasted nice and calm, only to be interrupted with the sudden appearance of dotted lines. Lumikki tried to trace them as face as she could, her eye revealing the projectiles to come and where, only there were so many to track. ”Brace yerself!” The Guild Master howled, she shifted Hulda in her arms until she was carried by only one, and took the lead toward the incoming onslaught. As soon as the arrows loosed, so did she. Clawing the air to conjure a bulk of her magic into an icy wind that knocked most of them down. A feat that would not prove easy, as they were lengthy arrows shot by long bows, and so some would pierce her gale all the same. Everyone had to be on their toes to dodge all the remained. The party were barely a ten meters from the mountain, but it was clear the presence of the void had already came to meet them.

Better prepared, the party would be able to take on the next slew of arrows, avoiding the volley as they soon began their ascend upward. The wolfs would be able to bring those riding up quickly but it would be up to the riders to protect them on their climb. Lumikki and Zeno however would focus on the centaur like creatures. Their bodies sleek with an otherworldly sheen and a haunting lack of facial features. From what the two could make out, eight voidlings are apparent in the crevices of the mountain side.

Good luck on the first round for climbing.

Brone Heavyaxe

Brone Heavyaxe

Brone took a deep breath in, the air was dry and there barely a breeze, this was more akin to the mountainous area of the North, but the heat was more intense in this new terrain the dwarf never visited. He would look up the length of the mountain, not finding any trouble from his point of view when it comes to scaling it, but then again, he was use to mountain climbing ever since his uncle began taking him for intense hikes back at home. "Shouldn't be tough" he said out loud as he began some stretches.

As everyone was preparing, Brone made sure to check his bag, the contents all accounted for and the straps secured. Geri would walk up to him and give him a lick upon his gray cheek, "Ye have the strength for this, lad, we both dealt with the cold mountains back in yer home, so it'll be nothing te ye" he chuckled as he ruffled the wolf's fur happily.

Lumikki would gather the lot of them, taking lead and giving appropriate orders, "Aye" Brone saluted him, feeling pride in seeing his niece take charge, how far she has come from being a regular mage, now giving directions and showing proficiency in leadership. The dwarf watched as Pete would move over to Ittindi, then turned to Hugo, "Ye'll be riding along with us in case any of the fliers have their wings be tired" he petted Hugo before saddling upon Geri.

They began they travel, wings in the air and paws upon the rocky terrain. As he rode upon the eldest wolf's back, he lit his long smoking pipe and let out few puff clouds that trailed behind them; thankfully the fliers were slightly ahead of them so the smoke wouldn't coat them. The ride was enjoyable, and though the trot was bumpy, the dwarf made due, his smoking wasn't impeded. Though the sun was baring down upon them, the heat wasn't much of an issue, given that Brone wore his breastplate that was made of nevermelting ice, cooling him, and the cold air that dripped from it also cooled Geri, every so often, Hugo would walk close to them to get cooled off as well.

Lumikki called out and Brone was quick to act, he instantly grabbed onto Geri's collar to brace himself. Dots lined the sky above them. His battle experience gave him the insight they were projectiles of some type, so he was quick to pull his golden shield from his back and hold it above him, "Hugo, fall back!" he called to the riderless wolf who darted off to the side, trying to dodge the incoming arrows that weren't blocked by Lumikki's spell. Brone leaned forward onto Geri while holding his shield above them and in front. As Geri darted closer to the shadow of Lumikki's spell, a few arrows pelted the shield, two arrows hit the ice of the dwarf's armor, but an arrow manage to hit his butt cheek, "That smarts!" he yelped out of surprise than pain. As the arrows passed, he motioned Geri to rush forward up the slope towards their enemy so the dwarf could get a chance to close the distance before another volley was released.

Ittindi
The scouting so far was uneventful one of Ittindi’s favorite things, his life had started to move faster since he acquired Naki. They had mentioned that interesting things are what kept them going, and at times Ittindi wondered if they did things that way. However, it was just his poor luck to join the Rune Knights at one of their most active periods. As he surveyed the region the same bleakness seemed to permeate as his last visit, at least then the guild master of Fairy Tail had found a way to awaken joy in the nature of the place. Answering Lady Lumikki’s question Ittindi voice remained unemotional.

”Not at this part, I’ve heard the castle where the Fake Divine resides is quite a sight for those of the faith. I’ve been meaning to pay it a visit…”

Ittindi would be cut off seeing one of the Lady’s raven’s flying in. He was just as anxious for a report as Lady Lumikki, hopefully they’d get an all clear perhaps another group cleared it before them?

He'd move back to the car locking it up while talking to Sir Zeno who thanked him for the ride and commented on the smoothness of the journey.

”Thank you Sir Zeno, and yes I'd agree with your assessment. The land does seem to dying, the void seems to be it's own parasitic version of nature. Make sure you close the door when you're ready I've locked the vehicle."

Unfortunately they would need to climb up a mountain, just another reminder of his need for artificial wings from his magic. Lady Lumikki had no issues as her and the winged boy, perhaps a fairy or vampire Ittindi couldn’t tell the difference besides eating habits. At the least he had an extra outfit in his car if this one was soiled by sweat and rock debris, but Lady Lumikki would take pity upon him offering him a steed.

”Pete you say, why that name is delightfully simple. I thank you for your patronage, I’ll ask Lady Lumikki later what thank you gift would be appropriate for you.”

Ittindi had no idea if the wolf could understand him, but with Lady Lumikki he could never be sure. It could even be a human she transformed as part of a demon pact, the thought sent a shudder down his spine as he mounted the creature. The familiar soreness in his groins wouldn’t take long to reemerge Ittindi preferred his car for a reason, when his danger senses would activate before he could even see the danger. Not hesitating Ittindi would summon a shield on his left arm before drawing his dominator waiting for the inevitable. The arrows came quick, not as fast as Ittindi’s ability to maneuver his shield blocking any that would hit his temporary steed.

His shield dissolved after a couple of arrows and he found 1 embedded in his right shoulder and another on his left forearm where the shield had been. Snapping the arrows so they wouldn’t snag on any branches while keeping them inside lest he start bleeding out, he didn’t want to revive so soon.

”FOLLOW SIR BRONE.”

Ittindi had no idea if Pete could understand him, but Ittindi was ready for a fight. They had ruined one of his suits, and since they were void beasts they could only pay with their lives.
