Aether
It had been one day since Seira, together with Dex Miller, had discovered the blue entity by the river of Orchidia Town. Even though Dex was a strange guy, who was clearly missing a few screws, she had chosen to trust him because she believed there was something about him that spoke the truth and what she had ended up were a few bruises and a very confused mind. Seira had been in bed all day thinking about the incident. After both she and Dex were attacked by the blue creature she had managed to drag the man back to town where Dacol would find them both and bring them to safety. Although she didn’t need to stay in the hospital, Dex had to be left there to recover and Dacol stayed with him to hear about his story. Seira knew for a fact that eventually either of them, or both, would show up at her door step to speak about it and right now the Sorceress wasn’t exactly sure if that’s what she wanted. She got out of bed and made sure that her wounds had properly healed. Nothing else seemed wrong with her and she had slept in quite late for the day. As soon as she stepped out of the hotel she spotted a worried looking Dacol from afar. Wordlessly Seira approached him.

“You believe us, right? Have you done some investigation?” Seira didn’t even have to ask, but she did anyways. The man nodded and folded his hands together while gesturing her to follow him. He was walking towards the forest and it seemed that they were heading for the river yet again. Seira was a tad bit worried, but not deeply afraid or scared—more curious, if at all. “Yes, I went there myself to verify and saw the light the two of you spoke about. But it was somewhat different from what the two of you described, it was more humanoid looking, and that worries me a lot. We should wait until nightfall before we go there again.” Seira agreed and although she wondered why they couldn’t go during the day she quickly figured out that the entity probably wouldn’t be there while the sun was out. It seemed much more comfortable while out during night time, where it could surprise helpless travellers and the like. Dacol and Seira met up again during night time and walked towards the river. It was quiet and they didn’t speak much but as soon as they got closer to the area where it had happened Seira realized that Dacol had been right about what he had seen.

The creature was now indeed more similar to a child than everything else. Although it was completely alien in nature, cyan in colour with skin that was glowing, Seira felt a familiar sensation. It was almost as if the entity was calling her, just like it had done before, but now it was so much more obvious. The young woman couldn’t help herself and followed its call willingly, once again letting her guard down. Seira didn’t know what she was thinking while she walked closer and closer to the cyan child and she even completely ignored Dacol, who followed her but was seemingly still sober. He repeatedly asked for clarification, concern tinted his voice, and gestured wildly, wondering what the Sorceress he had brought along was doing. The feeling was different than the day before and Seira chose not to carelessly touch it like she had done the other day, but wait for what it had to say instead. She firmly believed that it could communicate and was proven right shortly after.

“A little bit closer.. that’s just right. Come closer.”

Seira frowned, but obeyed. “What are you?” She asked and slightly tilted her head to the side. It spoke, so it had to answer. Dacol watched them carefully and pulled out some notes in the meantime. He didn’t seem to feel dizzy at all, unlike Seira. Perhaps she was the only one who was having her mind invaded? “I’m the spirit of a person who died here, a very long time ago. Because of the magic I used to wield, however, I became semi-tangible. I embody the collective mana of the river and the forest you see surrounding yourself.” The entity was using telepathy, Seira knew that because Dacol clearly couldn’t follow their conversation. Instead, the girl repeated everything the creature said but reminded Dacol to remain sceptical, since those were merely claims and they could be false ones as well. Seira was feeling a bit weaker and Dacol’s constant interrupting and the annoying sound of his pen scratching over the paper, desperately trying to follow everything she was saying to him that came straight from the blue child slightly got on her nerves.

“I have a task for you, human. I need you to do these things, to prevent great danger from happening and also to find someone I lost a long time ago, someone who was dear to me.” At this point Seira had a hard time following the entity’s words and although she continued to repeat everything to Dacol, word for word, so he could write it down, she wasn’t able to put much sense into it. Unfortunately it was also time for the blue child to depart, because it slowly began to disappear from their sight. “I will meet you again, soon.” That was all it had to say before disappearing into the ground and leaving Seira with a massive headache. Dacol couldn’t care less for her well being, seeing how he simply finished up his notes and told her to contact a certain “Inspector Nilan” if she found out anything else or ever heard of the creature again before leaving to notify the important people of Orchidia Town. Seira was left behind and although that did upset her for a moment she chose to get a few minutes of rest before returning to Orchidia Town and her hotel as well.
