“Hello?” she called, wondering if anyone would even reply to her. Since no one did, Bianca just walked up to the stage and climbed it, walking through the curtains and looking left and right. At first she did not see anyone, but when she turned left after looking right, she saw a brunette lady standing there, giving her a confused look. Bianca, relieved after seeing the woman, walked towards her and said, “I’m here for the job,” while pointing at the job sheet in her hand. The woman’s face lit up as she clapped her hands together in excitement. Bianca gave her a smile and handed her the paper.
“Ah, I’m so glad you’re here! My name is Alice and I’ll teach you how to handle the curtains as well as the lights that are powered by lacrima. And since you are a wizard, I’m sure you’ll know how to handle them, right?!” she said enthusiastically. Bianca nodded and tried her best to display as much enthusiasm as Alice was showing. Even though she was a wizard, she was not too familiar with how lacrimas worked and whatnot. She had actually never handled lacrimas before in her life. Even if she had, she did not remember. Alice led the way to where the controls and everything were. It was like a control room but it was not really a room, just the controls and the chair at the back of the stage. Bianca watched as Alice showed her how to do what and also demonstrated handling the curtains and also the lights. It was pretty easy, there was nothing too tricky, Bianca thought, so Alice let her try doing it herself before the real show began. “Alright, your turn. It’s not too difficult, you’ll see,” said Alice as she got up and gestured for Bianca to take the seat. The vampire nodded and sat down.
Bianca looked at the controls and then did what Alice showed her. She was a fast learner and she had a good memory, so it was not difficult at all. Alice seemed impressed, which was good, that meant that she would let Bianca take this job. After her turn of handling things, Bianca turned back to Alice for confirmation. She nodded with a very satisfied look about her face as she clapped her hands together again. “Lovely! The show begins at six so be ready! We will provide you with a free meal as well so that you don’t get hungry in the middle of the show,” said Alice.
“Thanks, I don’t think that will be necessary,” was Bianca’s reply. Sure she could get hungry but the food that humans ate did not satisfy her hunger. So she refused to accept the ‘free meal’ that Alice was talking about, unless it was a bag of blood or an actual person to drink from. Bianca played around with the controls and sort of practised so she did not make any mistakes when she did the real thing. Time passed by faster than it normally did, well at least for Bianca. Alice came by once at around five forty five to make sure that Bianca had not run away or something.
She clapped her hands once again, making Bianca wake up even though she was already totally awake. This happened every time Alice clapped her hands like that. Bianca even stole a glance at Alice’s hands to see if they were red or something. “Ah! You are still here and alive,” she said with a laugh, which made Bianca slightly confused at her choice of words. What did she mean by ‘alive’? Did she expect Bianca to just drop dead or something? The vampire did not think too much about it, though, and just nodded at her. “Well then, since the show will begin in roughly fifteen minutes, I hope you are ready and everything,” she said before giving Bianca’s shoulder a light pat and leaving her.
As soon as Alice left, Bianca just sat there waiting while watching at the clock literally waiting on the time. It was six on the dot when she heard some doors closing shut. It was time. Alice appeared on stage in front of the curtains to make her little announcement. Bianca adjusted the lacrima lights so they were focused on her. After that, the show began and Bianca handled everything pretty easily. The show took longer than she had wanted, but since she was going to be rewarded with enough money to survive for a long while, she didn’t mind the wait. After the show, Bianca just sat there waiting for Alice to show up with her reward. The brunette woman seemed exceptionally jovial when she arrived at the controls place, handing Bianca the money and telling her how thankful she was for the help and that she did even better than the one who was actually working there. Bianca thanked her as well for the compliment and then took her leave.
