But at that moment, she was completely free from all sorts of work; both as a model and as a rune knight. She had decided to spend the whole day relaxing, reading books, and lazing off somewhere. Hanase san had left her all alone for the day to attend some meeting that Eva didn’t want to bother knowing. None of it made sense for her anyway. The sky was clear and sunny too. Maybe it would be a great day. Maybe, she was going to meet someone from her past. What a mysterious day, it seemed.

He decided to simply go around and just get something to drink. The sky was clear and the sun wasn’t too hard on them here as it was in Hargeon and Magnolia but having walked for a long time, he was starting to sweat a bit. He started towards the same café he had heard about through some intel. Apparently it was famous for their herbal tea and other drinks. He looked around, spotting the sign and walking forward until something platinum blonde caught his eyes. That hair and those amber eyes. He could not have made a mistake on this. “Sis?”

Eva’s body began trembling, out of fear or range, she didn’t know herself. With her teeth tightly clenched, Eva began breathing heavily as she pushed the chairs aside, dropped some uncounted money on the table and ran. She was a coward for doing that but she did not want to face her younger brother like that. She wasn’t prepared and had no idea of what to do. Eva knew that her younger brother was not like the rest. He liked her. He actually thought of them as family. He was the exception to all the rights in her head.

When she turned around and ran, his feet finally moved, his will unrelenting to let his sister that he had finally found after a long time to run away. He ran after her, trying to pick up his highest speed to catch up her with all his might. “Sis! Wait!” he called out, finally grasping her right hand and pulling her back. “Sis! Please stop! Why are you running away from me?” he felt tears threatening to form at the back of his eyes but blinked them away in desperation.

“Victor…” she trailed off, sighing. There was no point in running away anymore. “Victor, let’s talk,” she finally gave in, grabbing his hands and pulling him off in the direction of the hotel room she stayed in. This was a family matter that they had to discuss and take care of and she didn’t see why it should happen in the middle of the street. “I know what you probably have to say. But wait, let’s just go somewhere quiet first”.
Thu Jul 27, 2017 8:25 am
“Sis, why have you never, not even once contacted us?” he asked her, his hands balling into fists. He knew that she wouldn’t answer him until they reached somewhere they could talk without anyone simply passing by listening into it but he couldn’t help it. There were so many questions he wanted to ask but all of them simply fell away even before it reached his mouth now. He didn’t know what it was that he wanted to say first and that if his sister was even going to answer all his worries.

“Shh, stay quiet,” she scolded him, dragging him into the hotel she stayed in and up her room, ignoring all the weird stares she received. If those idiots would just get their head out of the gutter and look at the two of them properly, they would easily be able to tell that they were siblings. Once they were inside, he pushed Victor in and closed the door behind him, sighing as she took her bag off the shoulder and threw it on to her bed. She sat down on a chair. “So, what did you need?”

He sat down in front of his sister back in the hotel room. It was nice knowing that his sister still lived comfortably. Well, she had to be so since she worked hard as both a model and a Rune Knight. When she sat down and asked him what he wanted, he felt his lips go dry. “Sis, won’t you come back home? I know it is difficult for you but won’t you please consider coming back home? It has been years. A lot of things changed, too,” he tried to reason, gulping as he realized Eva was starting to get angered.

“I don’t want to hear this. I’m not going back to that house. If there is nothing else that you may need with me, you can leave,” finally removed all of her masks, her eyes staring coldly down at the young boy that she called her younger brother. She didn’t hate him, but his dream of having a complete family with her included was simply going to remain just that; a dream. Eva didn’t want to go back to that place that still clenched at her heart ever again.

“Sis, you are misunderstanding me. It is true that I want to get all of us to live like a family again but that’s not it anymore. You are aware of how you are missing your memories before you were three, right? I mean, normally it is normal to not remember much as a child but you have no memories, right? Your mind is a complete blank about those things, isn’t it?” he asked her, scooting closer to her with his chair. “Sis, I have reason to believe that something happened to you while you were three. My father avoids talking about it, my mother still screams bloody murder when I mention it and isn’t it strange that father had changed out each and every one of the Venderbilt family servants after your third birthday?”
Thu Jul 27, 2017 10:41 am
“You…,” her voice trailed off, mouth suddenly getting dry and words getting stuck in her throat. “How did you know about all that? It is true that I don’t have any sort of memories from before I was three but what does that have to do with anything? What exactly are you trying to say, Victor?” she asked him again. But she couldn’t believe it that he knew so much about that. Eva never talked about her memories with anyone. She was never even in a really good relationship with her father or step mother. But Victor was right. Something did happen when she was three and this something had left a deep scar on the whole of Vanderbilt family and this something was most likely the reason for her mother’s death as well. “So what are you suggesting?” she asked, curious as to what he was trying to do by bringing all of it up.

He got up. “Sis, come back to Era. Come back home. There is something in there that you need to see. I can’t say anything more and even if you tie me up and ask me, I’m not completely sure of the situation either but I know…I know that all the answers lie back in that home,” he sighed, placing an envelope down in front of Eva and getting ready to leave. He placed a hand on the door handle and clicked it open. “It was nice seeing you again, Sis. Hopefully, we will be meeting soon again.”

She sat down again, this time taking the envelope he had left her. She ran a finger over it, opening the seal to find…money. There was a small note at the end of it stating her mother’s name. It was all too strange now. What was Victor’s connection to her lost memories and now her mother’s money? She didn’t understand but she knew where she would have to go to figure it out. Eva never thought she would ever go back again but it seemed that the Vanderbilt family was not ready to let go of her again.
She threw the envelope on her bed, getting up and walking over to her mirror. She hadn’t told her little brother nor had she acted like it, but the truth was that…Eva’s magic was completely gone.
