So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | The town of Baska had looked the same as always, or at least, what she had remembered to be always. As she walked through the streets, the sickly and dull environment surrounded her. The grey skies loomed over the city, blocking the path of the sun as it attempted desperately to peek through the holes in the sky simply to provide just a small ray of light, a tiny glimpse of hope for the suffering citizens of the town. Truly no one could tell what was going on. Due to her absence from the scene for a while, she hadn't known whether the situation of the town had bettered or worsened. In fact, she didn't even know what had happened to doctor Gerard, the man who was willing to do everything in his power to save the city from complete ruins. It seemed that the pink haired knight had assumed that the situation would have been how she had left it or even better because the female believed in the doctor and his will to save the town. He was willing to achieve any lengths to accomplish what he had set out to do and that was to save the city. However, it seemed that she was wrong. As Xandra walked through the streets of Baska, the sound of war cries and screams infiltrated the year. All around her, it sounded as if chaos had broken into the town but she could not see it. It was strangely odd that she was surrounded by no one, she was all alone in the street and as she walked further, entering into one of the main roads of the town, she was shocked. Surrounding her, along the pathway, were shards of broken glass, stalls and plants thrown and broken to pieces, food squished underneath wild footsteps but the sight that terrified her the most was the amount of blood that laid on the ground, some still fresh while the rest had turned brown from being disposed for too long. The more horrifying part, however, were the bodies that laid on the ground. Bodies of the dead with scratches on them and bleeding wounds. None of them moved an inch or made a sound, they were all dead. Her steps slowed down. Things had gotten a lot worse and she couldn't just stay still. Upon hearing the sound of destruction which was, she assumed, a few streets away, she broke into a run. As she was about to turn into the street following the chaos, a hand landed on her shoulder, causing her eyes to widen. Without wasting a single moment she turned and jumped back to create some distance, expecting it to be a wild citizen who had lost their senses to aggression. The cold colliers had truly outdone themselves today. They deserved to rot behind bars for making her having to fight a citizen but what surprised her more was that her eyes landed on a a familiar man. It was the doctor. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | Panting, he held his hands up in surrender, "It's me, Gerard." He would frantically look around and perk up, his whole body tensing upon the sounds of animalistic growls and screams coming towards the two. He would quickly pull something out of his pocket and turn around to face the two men, wildly staring at him and launching themselves towards the doctor. The knight was ready to step in but the 'Don't' yelled by the doctor made her stop. As he pulled out an injection, he stabbed both men with it, pushing the end of the syringe because of which both the citizens fell into a state of slumber. He had managed to sudue them. As the men fell, his panting increased. He took a few moments to catch his breath as he rested with his hands on his knees. and with occasional breaths, he proceeded to tell her everything that had changed over the last two years. Rather, it would be more appropriate to say that the situation had worsened, it had become stronger and arrived at the point where it may not even be cured anymore. The knight could only wonder how the doctor had managed to survive for so long without even accidentally getting affected and of course, more importantly, losing his mind. Being surrounded with people constantly trying to kill you, attack you and injure you must be tiring. It must have been so exhausting for him. She could only imagine his state during the time. Xandra felt a feeling of guilt surge into her body as she clenched her fist. If only she hadn't left him to go complete the mission sent my the magic council, if she had helped him finish this task then and there then perhaps, it wouldn't have reached this point. However, there was no use fretting over what had happened and blaming herself although she did think she had a responsibility to take. It was more important to flip her mistake around. She had to fix this. This had been the change brought in her by the elder man who trained her and unintentionally, managed to bring small changes, perhaps enhancements into her personality. She was no longer the nineteen years old girl struggling to communicate and taking responsibility for everything. No longer was she the teenager who would drown herself in guilt and prove to be useless at the end. She was a different person now, or at least, she felt like one. Gone was the girl who would silently listen and blame herself for everything while letting her emotions run out of control. Xandra had changed, it's time she fixed her mistakes. "Mottoro and his gang released the poison into the river, it didn't take much time for it to reach everyone and the effect is stronger every time." The doctor started as she nodded while listening. Those thugs had nothing better to do, it was about time they learnt their lesson. She immediately regretting not doing so two years ago. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | Her memories unraveled to the time she adored the ability to summon and utilize lightning and was instantly hit with a sense of disgust. The smiling face of the black haired woman flashed before her eyes, the picture she had seen on a rune knight's document. Her emerald eyes flamed up with rage. If only she had known back then, if only she hadn't spend so long emotionally exhausting herself in order to take revenge for two people who were brimming with evil rather than love, who took each other's lives, who valued monetary gains over someone's lives. Snapping herself out of the moment, she continued to listen to doctor Gerard as he told her about the current state of the town. People were running around wild, as she had already seen. Their violent tendencies had reached it's peak point and there wasn't much that the doctor could do on his own. People were at each other's throat. It was become a war between the people, expect, rather than two sides, there were thousands. Each person was their own army and everyone surrounding them was the enemy. She could only imagine the pain of having to be controlled by a disease for so long and if and when they return to consciousness, the feeling that would embed into them after realizing what they had done. However, it was not the time to think about that, her first priority was and should be to save them, to ensure that no one else dies by the hands of another. She was back and she was ready to get into action. The doctor filled his little monologue of explanation with minor details that helped her reduce her worry that she initially held for him. After hearing that he, thanks to his expertise, had perfected the medicine the two of them created once upon a time, she was glad. They did have a way. It took him long but he did it and she too took a long time to return but she was there. He rustled though the pockets of his baggy pants shaped an outline along his legs, making it obvious that something was inside, something big. It was the solution. However, the female didn't realize the trouble that came with it and was rather surprised to hear it from the doctor. As he shoved his hand inside her pockets and pulled out test tubes filled with a purple liquid that was simply mesmerizing to look at as tiny particles orbited in the tube and rushed from one place to another as the tubes shook in his hands. The power surging through the chemicals made it seem so ethereal that even she was convinced that it might save everyone. The real catch however, came soon after. The doctor told her that they had only one chance to heal everyone for the cure had to affect everyone at the same time otherwise, it wouldn't be effective. This meant that she would have to follow instructions very carefully. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | One chance, that was all she had. If she messed it up, there would be no going back. Perhaps then, the guilt would truly seep in, when she had no way of restoring or rectifying her mistake. But now, she had the chance to change it, to get rid of that tiny irritation called guilt which stubbornly stood in her heart. This one chance was her only ticket to get rid of it. Perhaps over the course of the previous two years, the pink haired female had become more result oriented rather than someone who simply enjoyed the process. She had become someone who would accomplish her task regardless of what she had to do, perhaps other than killing someone. Unless that was absolutely necessary but she would prefer to avoid such extreme situations. She listened to the doctor carefully as he explained their plan of action to her. The plan was simple but maybe executing it would be harder. All she had to do was detonate all the cures at the same time after positioning them where the doctor had asked her to. It sounded easy, way easier than it would be. She knew that because the distant growls and shattering of glass made it's way into her ears which she could not ignore. The crowd had gone mad, they would definitely be an obstacle in her way but what could she do? her only option was to get past them. The pink haired knight never expected that she would have to hurt someone in order to save them but here she was. Truly, there is a first for everything. Her emerald eyes glanced at the tubes in doctor Gerard's hands as he pushed them forward, offering it to her to carry as she would be the one doing the task. Raising her slim fingers, she touched the cold glass before grasping it in both her hands. Once the antidote was in her hands, she watched as the doctor rummaged through his pockets which seemed to be brimming wit various objects. From inside the pockets of the blazer he had on, he pulled out three small devices, enough to carry each of the three tubes that were currently in Xandra's hands and proceeded to pass them to her. Safely putting the tubes in the back of her pants pocket, she grabbed the machines that she found out were detonators and listened to the instructions very carefully. She had a job that she had taken a while ago, but due to circumstances, could not complete. It was her chance to make up for it and she was willing to do everything in her power to do complete it and to save the citizens of Baska, The loud growls and the aggressive nature was getting rather annoying. She had to set up the detonators in three specific locations, that would, she assumed, cover the entire town area. Once the detonators were set up, she could release the cure and save everyone. She had enough faith in the doctor's and her own capabilities. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | The two locations that Gerard had told her about were both at the far ends of the town, at the outskirts. Not only would it take them time to reach there, but to avoid the crowd would be even tough. Luckily, the sun was still out, looking over the dull sky and desperately attempting to seep past the dark clouds. The mage would estimate that it was just barely noon. They had time but they would still have to work fast. Nodding at the doctor, she instructed the way, leading them because she was the one with greater speed and probably the person who would have to handle any wild citizens that come their way. It was probably a good call to use the alleyway and avoid the main streets where people wildly jumped onto each other and fought to kill. It was war within itself. The news about the happenings of Baska had also already spread to other towns which was why the town had no visitors whatsoever. However, she was surprised that the magic council just let the town be and did not intervene in the violence at all. But then again, she didn't particularly know. Maybe they did but weren't able to and hence, retreated. Nevertheless, she doesn't have enough faith in the magic council to accept that they did try to help. They probably just left the citizens to kill each other until the last mans stood. The council was full of corrupted people with their own minor problems that they prioritized over people. Just thinking about that made her face scrunch in disgust. Shaking her head, she lead the way, jogging through the alleyways with the doctor close behind her. They tried not to make any noise which wasn't possible because their footsteps were quite loud but the female wasn't too worried for she hoped that the noise of them running would drown within the commotion the citizens are causing in the main streets. Occasionally stopping to glance around when the growls and screams grew closer, the two looked over the edge of the wall and made their escape when they were sure that no one was looking. They ran as fast as they could, or at least the doctor did. Xandra has to slow down her speed in order to match the doctor's pace but then later they decided that the female would head to the location first with the materials to ensure that it is safe and the doctor can set up the detonator. Although she was skeptical about leaving the doctor alone in case he gets attacked, he managed to convince her by reminding her that he survived months in this mess. He could probably take care of himself. With a nod, she ran as fast as she could, carefully avoiding any citizens along the path until she reached the east end of the town, she stopped to catch her breath. However, what they had hoped would not happen, had unfortunately happened. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | Her emerald hues that glistened, downed in the peeping sunlight, landed on two men who stood in her path. Uh oh. It was truly not as easy as Doctor Gerard made it sound. However, it was lucky that they were smart enough to have concocted this plan. perhaps if she can defeat them quick, the doctor would reach and set up the detonator and they can immediately set out to the next destination which was all the way on the other side of the town. Her steps halted at the sight of the other men. Luckily, they were too engrossed in their own world to even notice her presence. Her steps became softer, as she made sure to make no sound. Her heavy breathing went silent as she gripped the detonators in her hand and watched carefully as two crazy men clawed at each other. Their hands all over the place as they violently tried to grab the other. They were too occupied to notice her there so she carefully managed to slip around them as they clawed at each other's faces. The screams and growls submerged any sound that would give her presence away. It was probably better if they didn't notice her at all; not only would she have to do less work, but would also prevent herself from harming any of the citizens. It appeared that she had thought so too soon. The emerging footsteps and the heavy pants of the doctor broke her silence as he yelled out her name between breaths without noticing the two men. Her head snapped in his direction as she scrunched her face at the happening. With a sigh, she set the detonators and the tubes down on a rock where they would be placed. It was fortunate that she had done that because as she turned her head, pink hair flying with the wind, she spotted both the men staring at the doctor. Without a moment of hesitation, they launched towards him and so did she. As the man in the front stretched out his arm to grab a hold of the doctor, the female rushed to his side and grabbed the wild citizen by the wrist, stopping him only inches away from the doctor's face. "You should set up the detonator, I'll handle them." With a nod, the doctor listened to her advice and moved towards the rock from behind her while keeping his eyes on the two men, one of whom was desperate to free himself/ He attempted to kick the mage who, using her clearly greater strength, grabbed his leg and without sparing a moment, raised her own right leg and slammed it into his torso. The hit was hard, but not hard enough to make him pass out. She didn't want to go all out with them so she kept her strength in check. From the corner of her eyes, she noticed the doctor setting up the detonator. All she had to do was make these two go unconscious. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | Her attention turned back to the men at hand. Gerard could handle it himself as long as she didn't let those crazed men attack him. The other man, a blonde one this time glared at her with a aggressive look in his eyes before launching towards her. He ran and attempted to collide his fist into her. Due to the lack of strategy and sloppiness she saw in his movement, she could tell that he wasn't a professional fighter, neither of the men were which made her task easier for her. She simply held up her hand and wrapped it around the approaching fist before swinging her left leg to the back so that the man's body was facing her back. Using her other hand as support, she placed her left hand on his wrist and shifted her right hand to his upper arm and yanked him upwards so he was thrown onto the ground over her body. Before he had the chance to move, she pinned him down and looked at the first man who had regained his momentum and was coming at her. Using her free hand she stopped his advances and released the second man from her hold but placed her knee on chest and she dragged the first man down to her eye level and headbutted him hard enough for him to pass out. Perhaps she did it too hard as a small ache spread through a head followed by a soft 'ugh'. It worked as the man's eyes rolled back and he fell unconscious onto his front. Before sparing even a second, the female turned her attention back towards the second man who had grabbed hold of her neck and was scratching it and squirming underneath her so viciously that it was getting annoying. Pulling her hand back, as well as her strength, she morphed it into a fist and launched straight for his face, all the while being careful not to hurt him too much. The punch straight to his face was enough to knock him out and leave a small bruise at most. Oh well, that was pretty good considering that she hadn't done any fatal harm. The pink haired mage got up and dusted her hands before sighing and dragging both their bodies together and once again, ensuring that they were still breathing. Lucky for her, they were still alive. Her attention went back to the doctor who was almost done setting up within the roughly three minutes that she had taken to get rid of those men. He stood up as his breath had returned to him and turned around to look at her before nodding. She immediately knew what that meant and helped him grab the equipment before they started towards their next direction which was a little further; the west end of the town of Baska. It would be quite a run but they were done with one third of the work. Just a little longer and they would cure the city. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | The same task was repeated again. They carefully ran through the alleyways, avoiding the streets completely and after running for approximately twenty minutes at their full speed, or rather Gerard's full speed cause the pink haired mage also had to preserve some of her energy in case she had to knock some other crazy townspeople unconscious. They finally reached the west end of the town but unfortunately for them, the situation was the same as before so they proceeded to carry out the same drill that they had done so last time. While the knight took care of the violent men who were trying to kill them, doctor gerard would set up the detonator. These men were a lot more violent as even went as far as to carry fatal objects but it was not something she could not handle. However, it was a bit of a challenge to take care of them without harming them too much. It required a lot of dodging and critical hits that would knock them unconscious as soon as possible so she would not have to exert too much strength and energy into hitting them. This time, it took her approximately five minutes to get done with the men and the doctor was done setting up the detonator. They had one last location left. Just one location and they would be able to save everyone. They had completed two third of this mission. She could feel herself relaxing a little but even she knew that it was too soon to relax just yet. Without wasting too much time, the knight and the doctor headed towards the center of the town, the last location. This was likely to be the toughest as there would be many citizens swarming the area. Not only would the two individuals have to pass them to reach there but may also have to fight them and Xandra was not sure she would handle all of them at once without causing any serious damage. The best she could do in that moment was distract them and that's what she had prepared to do as the two ran towards their next destination, Sneaking between the alleyways that the doctor had memorized by now, the snooped around, hiding behind walls every time they heard a noise that could potentially belong to a citizen and made their way towards the center. The pink haired knight had to commend the doctor. After all, he did survive so long in this place, surrounded by people who wanted to kill him. The lengths he had to go through to avoid dying. he even memorized all the alleyways so he would get away from them. However, it was too foolish to assume that nobody would come into the alleyways, especially close to the center of the town. As they approached their destination,a few citizens were seeing scattering in the alleyways but because they were mostly alone, Xandra had no problem in rendering them unconscious one by one. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | They finally arrived at their destination and the sight before them was just what was expected but that didn't mean that they were happy with it. As soon as the two individuals landed in the center of the town, they were swarmed and a=surrounded by wild townspeople. Specifically, there were six of them out of which two were male and four were females. The mage could only hope that she could handle them or at least distract them while the doctor sets the detonator up. The doctor wasted no time in getting to work as the female prepared herself into a fighting stance so she can counter anyone coming from any angle. The citizens too wasted no time in attacking. The real issue at hand was getting all these people to come towards her. Launching towards the crowd right in front of her, she placed her left foot on a man who was running towards her to attack. By applying pressure on her foot and then using her hands to jump over his head by placing them on his shoulders, she managed to cross the wall of people that was towards her so that the crowd was between her and the doctor. It seemed that she had caught the attention of everyone. With a loud whistle, she had everyone launching towards her, completely ignoring the doctor as he continued with his work. This was just what she wanted. Now, she just had to stall, she blocked and attacked and then repeated the drill, but this time, blocking more as everyone was attacking her from all directions. Regardless of how much stronger she was than them, they still overpowered her with numbers. Luckily, the doctor was fast with his hands. "DONE!" He yelled which caught everyone's attention. The mage made eye contact with the doctor who nodded at her. Returning the nod, she pulled a remote out of her back pocket and without hesitation pressed it. The only fear was whether it would work or not and indeed it did. Purple fumes filled the air and quickly spread. The townspeople still tried to attack but halted once the cure had reached their systems and doubled over in pain. In moments, they had passed out but then woke up in a few minutes scratching their heads. Voices ran through the sky along with groans as they wondered what had happened. It seemed that they were back to normal with no memory of what happened. She looked at the doctor and smiled. Their hard work had paid off. The two left the confused citizens on their own and Gerard handed the knight her reward which she first politely declined but later accepted. As he thanked her, she could only smile before wishing him the best of luck and heading out of the town. |
