The demons had really done a number on the city. Not so much the physical damage which had mostly been repaired in a matter of days, but psychologically. An understandable result of hordes of demons being spewed into your idyllic town, and unleashing hell on every day people. Those who fell into their grasp suffered gruesome fates, and even then the survivors envied the dead. The city had much to heal from, and some scars possibly never might. But it would come back stronger in the end, and if by any chance the demons ever raided again, they'd hardly count themselves as lucky as they did the first time. That said, Alisa deemed it her mission to ensure that if remained as big as possible:

"And that means neutralizing whoever would think of summoning them back in.", mused the sculptress, currently hot on the trail of a specific lead, having relying on her myriad connections to identify a creepy old house. After asking many reliable sources where could psychotic cultist hole themselves up, she wound up with a variety of lists from different people, and this place consistently showed up there. An old, abandoned house which by all accounts should have been claimed by homeless, and yet, none seemed too keen on getting too close to it. Quite the opposite, they seemed to avoid it like the plague, "And by the looks of it, I can hardly blame them...", she acknowledged, scratching her head as she looked over that delapidated manor, "...Though it warrants investigation nonetheless."

Ah, so this was the house. Even this late at night, Alisa knew better than simply hack and slash her way in. Even if they were cultists, dirty deeds as such were best done without being traced back to her. Thus, she stalked around the house, wondering on the best way to make her way in stealthily, retaining a way out once she'd finished butchering all the occupants... Far less gruesomely than anything the demons might have done, and they'd get no further kindess from her. Walking around the house, she finally found a conspicuous hole in the wall behind it, giving way into a large garden. Under the cover of darkness, without many of her signature spells, the sculptress proceeded quietly, eyes on her surroundings, ready to draw her sword in the blink of an eye.

Who knows what she may find in this old place...

Coda cawed loudly in the air, sheltering her reddish tints under the late, darkening sky. Normally, Daiko would be back at the Horizon Apartments by now to ready up for some sleep, but a certain event led up by a clue resulted in him seeking out this particular building. Most people left it alone as it was presumed homeless for the longest time. At one point, Daiko thought the same, but then demons arrived…

He never wished to see Orchidia go through such horrors again. Despite his greatest efforts to thin out the attackers, people lost lives and left behind shattered feelings in several families - the city was scarred, to say the least. It would likely heal up in good time, but Daiko was a little too emotional to think about that first. Who would? After these horrifying images in his head, he couldn’t help but feel strangely drawn towards his very next moves. He had a hunch that the demons weren’t relying on themselves throughout their failed conquest; often, a conquest or mission would deem successful if aided by multiple figures.

He got the idea that humans might have been involved in the attack - pityingly at their own town - back when he overheard a conversation at the market streets. Some dude with a beanie talked with one of the local merchants about ‘the goods in all aspects of life, even this’ and the merchant laughed at him with the response… well, it was faint in his memory, but it was something about ‘there’s more to it’ and ‘I’ll show you where I keep it’. It was mostly the first person’s quotes that interested Daiko, because after having your town mauled by demons and slipping out with big injuries, you wouldn’t normally find anything good in that.

Come on, anything good in a demonic raid? Anything good in watching your loved ones bleed out? Was it even relevant for a merchant to talk about it in public?

He should have been closer to the merchant and his fella with the beanie, but when they followed each other across the street, Daiko decided to follow after them. With that, he found the manor and debunked its status as uninhabited and even restricted due to the two men entering the house and staying there until the sun began to set. That was now, and Daiko had enough of waiting - he needed to quench his hunch with some solid investigation.

With Coda in the air, he wanted to ensure himself that there weren’t any people nearby the garden, because luckily, he found a hole that he could crawl through. The darkness would be annoying, though, but a tolerant companion as he should avoid getting spotted… and that prompted him to use his Thermal Vision.

Coda’s squawk, however, braked him in his track as he had just passed the hole - she must have spotted someone nearby. He was suddenly in the air and stuck onto a branch to a nearby tree, hoping that he got out of sight in time. With his Thermal Vision, he proceeded to see more properly… and noticed one person in the same area as him, only a dozen meters away. Their body’s heat signatures were heavily focused around their torso, almost inhumanly.

Most would assume Coda for a random crow by now. Her happy squawks indicated something irregular to Daiko - was it a friend?

“… They’ve closed most windows here. Bad move,” he assured the stranger whom he had yet to identify due to the darkness. Soon, his eyes would adapt… hopefully…

Indeed, Alisa recognized this squawking all too well, well enough not to see it as a threat. If not as close as Arisa herself, she recognized this telltale cry as belonging to a rather familiar bird, in turn the partner of one of her few friends in Lamia Scale. Give it to a reclusive loner like the sculptress to have few people whom she'd regularly acknowldge as friends among a myriad acquaintances.

"If one ois here, then the other must be nearby", she concluded, promptly halting her advance for the time being. Coda's appeared couldn't simply boil down to a mere coincidence, no, not at this hour, not after what happened in Orchidia. Instead, she paused and looked up at the sky, that long, lustruous raven hair whipping around behind her, all but shimmering under the moon's gleam, one those occasional moments where it's radiant silver light pierced through the thin veil of clouds. Keeping a watchful eye on the moolit guarding, she carefully watched the figure approaching her. Firm, confident belief it might be a friend helped her stay mostly relaxed, with that faint, laid back smile on her face, and yet knowing she could have been mistaken, she kept guard nonetheless, only to chuckle as the Lamia boy finally spoke up, "Surely I could find a way around that... Or throught it, wouldn't you agree~...?"

With this playfully teasing greeting, the woman stepped out from under large, shaded tree under which she'd concealed herself letting that silvery light, tucking one flowing tress of dark hair behind her ear, gazing the Lamia's form head to toe, only glancing upwards to see what the mischievous bird had gotten up to. Keeping an eye in the sky no doubt; he must have come here for the same reason as Alisa herself, and in that case, he wouldn't yield that aerial advantage so easily. At least, she hoped he wouldn't. Resting a hand on her hip, she smiled:

"You look well, Daiko~. Seems I'll have to ask you, what you've been up to since we last met.", she greeted, chuckling softly, waiting for the Lamia youth to move closer. He'd come her for the same reason she did, and even if Alisa preferred working alone, she'd rather cooperate and pool their resources than trying to mount two separate operations getting in each other's way, "Let us move on... If they blocked the windows, that merely works to our advantage."

She glanced aside, back towards the house where the big bad, hopelessly deluded cultists might possibly be holing themselves in, her eyes narrowing cool and menacingly, like a hunter locking on to her target, ready to fight ruthelessly if she just so happened to have found the enemy's hideout. Despite her solitary tendencies, losing her magic had given her a newfound appreciation for allies', like cards to be played, and used to contribute to their defense in the process. Quietly, she'd walk over to the side of the house, circling around it:

"How much do you bet we'll find an opening here somewhere...", she all but whispered, running her hands along the aged, vine covered woods

“… Oh, oh yeah, I bet,” he replied with a surprised tone. He obviously held big expectations of Alisa’s prowess ever since they met back in Baska for the first time, but intruding any house with the windows opened felt inevitably foolish for a rhino-mind like his. To each their own, he thought. If not for Daiko’s direct command earlier, Coda would have dived down to greet Alisa as joyfully as she always intended to. However, ‘tacklehugging’ in what could possibly be enemy territory sounded… unneeded.

Don’t worry, Coda, you’ll have your fun soon.

It had been what felt like years. Of course, Daiko was delightful to meet a good, old friend once more and realize that things hadn’t grown away or rebooted their entire familiarities. With a cheerful face, he leapt down from the tree and softly landed on the grassy surface of the garden only a meter away from Alisa. Now, he was able to fully fathom her appearance, and truth be told, he wasn’t good at this sort of thing by telling people that ‘they had grown’ or ‘you’ve surely changed over the years’ and stuff. That often made him look a little harder than one would expect from him, but he didn’t want to be mean to her.

“Ditto. You look… more refined of a warrior,” he let out. Uh, Daiko, what did that mean, exactly? He wanted to converse with his own self about those terms, but Alisa reminded him that he came here for a reason other than meeting up with a voluptuous pal. They were both on the hunt for those either responsible or plotting to aid the demons from the previous incursion. His town was to be protected from such madmen.

The manor was old in itself and in its entirety - it was built around the very foundation of the town itself, and ever since the previous owner died, the building had been left out without any residents. It was partly due to it never being put up for sale for some odd reason. Such an old building could easily crumble under the force of a single spell… but that was reckless. Daiko shouldn’t destroy the old structure.

“I mean, we could always find an open window… or perhaps knock on the door and lock someone out-“ he suggested in a worried tone. He wasn’t sure if those plans were fool-proof, but his feet braked and turned his attention towards a wooden cellar shaft. “… Or we could surprise them from beneath,” he then suggested with more confidence as he advanced towards the shaft, letting Coda watch outside and keep her squawks low until anything suspicious arrived.

“Who leaves a tomb open like this… wait, this isn’t a treasure room- wait, what even is this? An entrance?”

"Now what's that supposed to mean~?", she inquired, with a playful hint of mischief, her eyes narrowing as she crossed her arms, a feigned, impishly offended look. Of couse, she didn't care little for it, realizing her Lamia friend wasn't too good at the reuinion thing.

Though he did get it right, perhaps more than he might realize. Alisa had traded away her Crystal Magic, and the replacement had so far been too difficult to control to be reliably used in battle. Not one to make excuses for it, the sculptress instead turned to what other skillset she could fight with, her skills as a warrior. Mind you, even if she did have her magic, Alisa might have considered flushing the enemies out with a spell. Daiko could do this even better by setting it on fire, flushing the enemies outside where they'd be waiting. Alas, that would leave them in the dark as to whatever might have happened in there. Even if they caught the enemies, they'd know nothing of what might have went on inside, and could easily be deceived. Which left them on the only real course of action - Break in:

"We could, though we'd lose the element of surprise.", Alisa noted, cupping her chin, raising an eyebrow tinged with uncertainty. Though she obviously had little to fear from such cultists, she didn't really want them destroying evidence, anything that might lead her to others like them, other callous mages who'd be willing to let Demons into their own town to hurt this or that neighbour they hated. The mere though had her clicking her tongue, though Daiko's next suggested pleased her, and she flashed him an approving grin, "I like that plan."

Ordinarily one might think evil cultists wouldn't do anything but cooping themselves up underground, but here, they had the whole house to themselves. They had a fair chance of finding the basement unguarded, or simply discovering a discreet entrance from which they could break in undetected:

"Idiots who don't know better, that's who.", answered the sculptress, crouching beside it, only taking care with that cumbersome, colossal sword on her back. At times like these she really missed her old Katana, or even better, the legendary sword Bakuzan. For all it's power, Yoru weighted her down and carrying a massive cross on your back is anything but stealthy when you need to be. But when it came to hunting demons, she could ask for no better weapon, and thus, she flipped open that cellar shaft and looked inside, standing back upright and grabbing her sword. For a moment she wondered if the crossguard might fit through it, and thus held somewhat diaginally, taking up the least horizontal space as she could, "I see no obstruction or any deadly traps waiting for us..."

Even as she said this, the moon's light illuminated down that hole, revealing nothing but dust, dirt and leaves that the wind had blown inside. Confirming the way was safe, she looked at Daiko, nodded, and jumped in. Bending her those long, toned legs, she absorbed the momentum from the minute drop, falling down on her feet with naught but a huff inside a dank, moldy basement, almost in pitch black darkness as she turned around and waited for a similar soft thud, signalling her impromptu teammate had joined her in the enemy's turf.

Surprise from beneath was likely the ideal goal for them both now. And thanks to this strange structure, they could enter the basement with little to no issue. It was obviously a huge jab in the groin for the assumed cultists in the house to leave the basement that vulnerable, but Daiko had trouble expecting precisely enough from them. Maybe they planted traps down there and left the… tomb hole way open for them to walk straight into their hands.

… Well, Alisa couldn’t see any traps inside. Were the residents really that confident? They would regret that soon enough. “Sucks for them.”

Daiko quickly jumped in after Alisa signaled their descent. His feet planted a little heavier, but upon regaining his foothold, he looked around to realize the gloominess and lack of light. This required some lighting, in which Daiko opened his palm and manifested a minor fire. Its glamour and blaze was as recognizable as ever, and its heat lit up the basement revealing not only the dusty settlement, but also the layers of cloth covering what looked like new furniture.

There was a cloth that showed the outline of a little chest, too. Not knowing, the other cloths revealed tables with various instruments and tools for cutting and extracting organs and body parts, recognizable for people who professed in the medicinal labor.

Above them were footsteps from more than one person. The footsteps were casual and slow-paced, so they must’ve entered unnoticed.

Daiko joined her underground quickly enough, and Alisa might have reconsidered her decision to break in from underground had she not known who she'd be partnering up with. Predictably enough, once the fire mage dropped down and found himself in pitch black darkness, he immeditaley conjured them a nice, cozy lighting, enough so he'd find Alisa calmly expecting him, arms crossed as she looked at him and spoke:

"Quite the convenient magic for the task at hand~", noted Alisa, not missing how both of her Lamia friends could have managed this in a way the sculptress herself couldn't have, and neither could most of her guildmates in Blue Pegasus. Before having lost her magic, she could have easily moved around in the darkness with her Geomancy spell, "Come on, let's see what these boys get up to on their spare time."

With those words, Alisa nodded to the exit of the little room they found themselves in, seeking the exit to this dank, modly cellar. Good thing the house was abandoned, had any wine been stored here it would most certainly have spoiled by now. Narrowing her eyes at the eerie set of tools, Alisa approached them, wondering if she'd find any with fresh looking bloodstains, or even lacking that thick coat of dust just about anything else here had garnered:

"Some of these look quite... Clean...", noted the woman, running a finger over an oddly clean scalped, narrowing her eyes and looking towards the stairs climbing up. "Suspicious..."

As they progressed further into the creaky, derelict house, The sculptress would occasionally notice odd markings in this or that wall. As she heard those footsteps though, she reached for the hilt, standing at alert primed to whip her big black sword out at any moment and swing it at the face of any enemies who came their way, proceeding stealthily towards where the footsteps were coming from.

Daiko Flayme
”Heh,” Daiko chuckled. His magic used to be more convenient in the past, but that was a story for another day. He was assured that Alisa would find out eventually, especially if they had to engage into combat soon. For now, however, they held the element of surprise, and this place… it fed their curiosities. What was with carpeting the tables and furniture like this? Was it because that the house was about to be bought? Daiko had heard nothing of this, and given the infamy that this manor had, he would have likely overheard it at some point. Then again, he wasn’t exactly a governing body of Orchidia, so his own judgements were ultimately rash.

The scalpel was clean? That sure gave a creeping aura out and caused Daiko’s back to twitch a little. “*gulp*…” was all that escaped his mouth as a comment to that. In the end, it just impacted his goal to eliminate any reattempts at summoning the demons from before. Luckily, his attention switched to the same footsteps that Alisa might have acted upon as she was holding her large sword- wait a second, he recognized that sword. That was funny.

The footsteps approached the door. A change of pace, this intrusion had taken. And it sounded like two people’s steps overlapping and consecutively following each other. Perhaps a little more spying would reveal more to the story - especially since they found themselves in the area of investigation, hidden among the home-feeling strangers. “We could find out from the main men themselves,” he explained to Alisa, “Let’s hide. They’re coming.”

His voice was lowered, because he didn’t want to deafen out the sound of the footsteps approaching the door atop a staircase that would lead down to the basement where a single turn would take the strangers to the room where the two wizards were located. The Fire Mage discussed to himself whether if he should try and hear out their own little chit-chat down here by finding a proper hiding place - he was aiming for a covered wardrobe - or if he should try his luck and take them both by surprise, thus gaining two subjects of interrogation.

He was right though... Simply breaking in and taking down all the cultists would be ridiculously easy, and yet, Alisa hadn't exactly come here to kill them all. At least, not without finding out what they were up to, if they had anything to do with the invasion and if so what exactly had they done. Depending on which she may or may not decide to erase any trace of whatever summoning ritual they'd been working towards, making sure no other hopeful cultists could follow the same path:

"Mmm... Lay low and put the light out.", urged the sculptress, resting her hand on his shoulder as she crouch beside the stairwell, hiding in a dusty, cobweb riddled shadow few would even think of looking towards, especially after getting used to this old cellar. Enough to keep their presence a secret until they found more than just circumstancial evidence to decide what they'd do with them, "We'll hide under the stairs."

Right now, the worst that could happen was for these cultists to start erasing the precious evidence. To prevent this, Alisa hid in the shadows, under the stairs as the footsteps reached closer until she could see two men in robes making their way down. There was indeed a lot of chitchat here, Alisa might have even rolled her eyes if not for the knowledge of how this otherwise mundane people had likely involved themselves with something very big and very dangerous.

"...By the way, did you hear about the Holy knights...? I hear they're mobilizing in Baska.", said one cultist, turning to his buddy, in that moment where the conversation lost that casual vibe

"Hah! As if any the Knight could stop our Lords from the Abyss. This is good news brother, once they all die, our lives will get much easier.", in response the other could only laugh, almost a scoff

Well... That really just told them all they needed to know. Alisa's brow twitched as she heard it, not really surprised to see what she already knew, how some humans show far too great a love for violent, animalistic creatures over their fellow humans... But as someone with a personal grudge against Dark Mages like these who'd all too gladly turn Earthland into the demons' playground, she couldn't help feel a budding rage growing between her teeth, taking a deep breath to rein herself in before whispering:

"Once they get come back... I'll take them down.", she stated, leaving it to Daiko to decide whether to help bringing down the cultists or simply watching her back and making sure no others came to help.

The fire lighting up the room died out quickly as Daiko heard Alisa’s words. Apparently, under the stairs would be a better hiding spot than a wardrobe - imagine the situation where the residents would open the robe and find a Fire Mage in it. That sure could screw everything over, even cause them to scream. That would, in return, alert the entire building.

Yeah, good idea. Daiko quickly hid behind Alisa under the same staircase. It was likely safer this way. His hair blended perfectly in with the jet-black surroundings that lacked light without his fire magic. But he didn’t need that long enough, because the guys whose voices he recognized entered the room from a door upstairs. They were… in high spirits. This was sickening, Daiko already wanted to pummel them both and throw them out the windows.

The cultists were located in the middle of the previous room where Daiko and Alisa were before, in the presence of the cloaked furniture. A little more chit-chat, but they didn’t seem to bother talking about the equipment around. Alisa was bent on taking them down soon as she expressed so to Daiko, in which he responded quietly: “… After that, we probably have to heed upstairs… it would be nice to have an invisibility spell available here. Unless if anyone could pretend to be a cultist, they’d just spot us instantly.”

There were badges on the two cultists, much to Daiko’s unknowing. As he watched the staircase, which was the likable gateway for ambush and surprises, the takedown relied on Alisa and her show of battle arts.

Taking down the two of them at once was outrageously easy, making one wonder what business these pitiful men had thinking they could actually have any influence on the mighty demons they seemed so hellbent on summoning. Truly, creatures from the Abyss would look to these worshippers and seen nothing but free meat, as slaves, food, or worse. Alisa hid with her back pressed against a corner, lying in ambush where the cultists would soon pass on the way back. Her eyes narrowed, body loosened in preparation to snap forwards into a strike, alert, ready to spring out at any moment. Using the enemies' voices to guide her. The moment their robed forms came into view, she dashed in, stepping forth into a thundering right backfist, right into the jaw of the first cultist. At the same time her left hand shot forth, seizing his brethren by the face, covering his mouth with her palm as she proceeded to grab them both as such and visiously smash their heads into each other, knocking both out in a single, flowing motion.

Despite the visible rage just barely hiding beneath the surface, Alisa held back from killing the two outright, but with that kind of impact, she'd have surely turned the two into brain damaged, retarded vegetables. She'd wipe her hands as she was done with them, wondering if she'd better stash the unconscious bodies somewhere they wouldn't be found, just in case, or finish them off. She doubted she'd get much information out of them anyway... But it was Daiko who offered a good alternatives

"That... Is a very good idea... That's exactly what we need to scout out their little base and see what we have to work with.", Alisa nodded, crossing her arms, listening attentively to her teammate's insight as she crossed her arms, cupping her chin. Even though he missed or possibly dismissed a solution to his own suggestion, as Alisa look down her eyes came to rest atop the cultists. They had roughly the same height as the two of them give or take a centimeter, and the loose robes could conceal a wide variety of body shapes, and cover faces as well, "They may have badges, but, I'll bet we can still use these to get close, before they realize anything's up. When they do, we'll know how many they are, and have them within striking distance."

Quickly stripping the robe off one, leaving him in plain underwear, Alisa, slipped her head through the hole, letting the loose, dark linen garment hang off her body, concealing her curves for the most part, save for a faintly noticeable swell on her chest from where the rest of the cloth draped loosely.

… Oh yeah. Daiko just saw the robes that the two cultists were wearing; those could fit into anyone with such vast… sizes? Width? They were large cloaks, and they would surely make anyone fit in with the crowd. He nodded back to Alisa’s suggestion and stripped a robe off the other guy as they both donned them without a second thought. It was weird to just leave the guys in their underwear down here in the basement, however; what if they woke up and caused a ruckus? Daiko swopped them both into the wardrobe from before and locked it shut.

Well… Daiko couldn’t help but eye her chest. It did stick out - a lot, even, in his eyes. “… L-Let’s just hope they know where your eyes are,” he spoke to her before walking towards the staircase. With creaking sounds from the old wood of the steps, the Fire Mage advanced upwards until he reached the door. With one hand, he would swipe it open and enter a hallway that led to the living room… a room filled with other cultists wearing the exact same type of robes.

Once they had their robes, Daiko immediately went to lock the two where they wouldn't be found. Smart... Had Alisa not lost her magic, she'd have definitely pictched her two cents there, and locked the closet inside a crystal monolith for good measure. Now she did have a... Rather big problem on hand, and not even the one he suggested, getting a playful chuckle from the sculptress:

"How subtle of you sweetie. Guess that tells me where yours are~", teased the sculptress, never one to let such a witty little quip pass without a reply, crossing her arms just enough to heft that generous, expansive bosom he seemed to pay so much attention to. Well, she wouldn't trust a guy under the age of twenty to know where her eyes were anyway. Which begged the question, was he still a teenager, technically... The question weighed upon the sculptress' head, narrowing her eyes quizzically and finally uttering what might appear a completely random question lest have been following the same train of thought, "How old are you anyway...?"

Before going up the staircase, Alisa looked to her sword. She'd really rather not leave it here, in the basement, and instead picked it up and strapped it to her back. If anybody asked, she'd found it on the way down, and could always pull that 'Look what I found' act. Nonetheless, she very much planned on dropping it around somewhere along the way.

"Keep an eye out... I'll need a place where I can put my sword where it won't be found, and where I can get to it in a hurry."

Daiko Flayme

True to familiarity, she was as sly as he remembered her. Catching Daiko in his breath and causing a flustered slash shamed burst of reddish colors to spread on his face, clearly not having been in the same page as Alisa concerning her ‘monstrous’ chest size. His eyes weren’t… well… they weren’t ALWAYS on her chest, but give the lad a break here! If his first encounter with this voluptuous statue involved picking a grass knot from her butt, then he would obviously have trouble with his face just remembering such events and thus cause a war with his own self-consciousness over the case of whether he was perving or simply overwhelmed thanks to his primitive naivety.

His eye twitched a little, but he had to move on, so his reply consisted of: “Hrmph…” The staircase made loud, cracking noises, so he had a hunch that those upstairs sub-consciously awaited the two previous cultists’ re-arrival now. Either that, or they were minding their own businesses.

“What, you already know my- oh, wait, yeah,” he quickly tried to reply to her under a rather quiet breath, “I may look a little skinny and smaller, but I’m 20… wait, what am I talking about, there’s nothing wrong with my body…!” Truth be told, his physique had changed clearly. Before his magic evolved into a Takeover Magic, Daiko felt like having a regular build among most men. He wasn’t that oblivious to beauty ideals and the likes, but when his Fire Magic got some phoenix stuff boiling up, his physique slowly thinned out his arms, legs and height. It made him collect less resistance from the wind during every move… or something like that. Also, it was way worse before his special training back with Lamia Scale. That season had brought results, but just not under the same circumstances that he expected.

Also, yay; the living room was large enough to allow lots of mobility. Hearing Alisa’s words about finding a place for her sword, Daiko looked around to try and spot another shelf or wardrobe. People rarely looked into those, especially with guests inside.

“There’s a wardrobe on the other hallway behind those two other guys,” he spoke back to her, “But we’ll have to pass through… SO, uh, weren’t those tools neat and dicey?” Daiko’s voice sharply turned into an enthusiastic and almost idiotic tone as a cultist turned around the corner towards them. Daiko’s face turned towards Alisa’s with a smile, indicating that they were watched by nudging his eyes to the right.

Even if she had asked him for his age before, she'd most certainly never asked about his birthday, hence the question. Plus, Daiko always had that youthful innocence about him, one might struggle to see him as older than his actual age. Twenty huh...?

"Indeed, though you could certainly use an added bit of extra exercise.", pitched Alisa, those shimmering wine red orbit scanning down his form and nodding, crossing her arms and cupping her cheek in honest assessment. They'd trained before and ended with a one sided victory for Alisa; prideful as she was, she saw this as merely the expected outcome, but she always believed anybody who trained regularly could grow strong enough to a point when a fight between the two would go either way, "You do seem slimmer than usual by the way, though I doubt you've gotten weaker... Just what manner of training did you go through?"

Tilting her head slightly at the inquiry, Alisa wondered if Daiko actually would answer her or if he'd rather keep such details to himself. She wouldn't feel too surprised if he did, after all, she had no interest in telling him her beloved crystal magic was now a thing of the past. Instead, she accepted his suggestion of heading for the nearest closet, and the sculptress knew the time had come to try out these disguises, taking a deep breath and casually approach one of the guys like she was one of them.

"You two took your sweet time going to the bathroom...", quipped one of the guys while the other chuckled. It actually took them a short while to process that sword behind her back, upon which one of them brought a hand to her shoulder, "Hey what the heaven is that? The fuck did you get that-"

Whap!

Smack!

They didn't have too long to react before Alisa struck them both unconscious, stashing their bound and gagged bodies in whatever other hole she could find before approaching the closet:

"Yes... This will do nicely.", stated the sculptress, approaching the closet he pointed out, and opening the creaking doors before removing the huge, cumbersome sword from her back. Though she was certain the cultists would appreciate the irony of a sacred cross being used to kill things, she also knew fully well they wouldn't take kindly to a weapon of killing in the hands of someone dressed like them but acting very much unlike any of the friends they knew, "Now, let's see what shall we find around these parts."

Great, more exercise. In the end, would it even bother that much for a guy like him? The more, the better… and that philosophy could be intoxicating, almost extremist-like. Daiko would have to make sure that he didn’t fall into an extremity trap along the way. The last thing he wanted was for his body to develop abnormal muscles; that image just didn’t settle well with him… not at all. “Ah… well, you know, Lamia Scale training,” he answered quickly and precisely. Given his assumption about Alisa’s in-depth knowledge of his guild, she should likely remember that they were all hunting greater power there, and it was a matter of improving your entire body’s capabilities to reach a certain goal.

For Daiko’s, it was mobility and lightness. He was light on his feet, so he made little sound when he moved and leapt between trees and buildings, and he didn’t have to push himself so much to lift his body up in the air. It also eased the function of flying, obviously, and it also gave his presence out way lesser than if he was skyscraper-high.

… Ah crap.

Two guys approached them and cracked a joke out, in which Daiko tried his best to behave like them and pretend as if he was a cultist from the very beginning. However, their cover was almost blown when it sounded as if the stranger didn’t know about the large, cross-formed sword on Alisa’s back, in which she stored them inside a shelf beneath the closet where she put her sword. Now, don’t get spotted, cross sword…

Daiko turned his head to the left and eyed the living room once more. Some people had went upstairs, so there were only three present now. There was a hallway on the other side, so to reach that, they would have to walk straight through the room. Likely, the interesting stuff was to happen upstairs, but since not everyone went up there now, it was assumed by him that only selected people were expected upstairs for the moment. That would make their own presence less normal.

There were only tools and reconstructive parts in the basement; scalpels, hooks, crab-finger-things whose names he didn’t know and more ‘tools’, but he didn’t know where the weapons were. His eyes, however, gazed upon a random picture on the wall of what looked like a… well… ew…

Impressive how so many light guilds' philosophies fall under that same umbrella of self improvement, with Lamia Scale driven by a raw desire for martial might, whereas Blue Pegasus focuses rather on the beauty of it. Strength is beauty... Beauty is strenght... Those same precepts the sculptress had so firmly ingrained into her own, or perhaps because she shared them to begin with, she would up joining the guild a few years ago.

"Hmmm, not bad...", nodded Alisa, cupping her chin as she assessed the results until an approving smile drew on her face. Of course, whatever training a Lamia went through had to account for the heavy amounts of combat they'd be expected to go through, "But i'd expect no less really"

More so than pure physical prowess, one's experience went a long way. Knowing how and when to make the fullest use of it, know what works for you and what doesn't. For the crystal user, footwork went a long way, explosive dashes and strikes capable of levelling all but the strongest of foes with one hit. Ideally, she'd finish the fight as such, but in case she couldn't manage such, then endurance and stamina became paramount: No matter how strong the foe, she had to keep dishing out blow after blow, controlling the pace of the fight, leading the dance until she seized victory.

"No human with half a brain at least...", replied the sculptress, walking up and eyeing the creepy looking painting with a faint but noticeable hint of pure disdain, scoffing as she flipped her hair and turned around, "Some people really will do anything to get ahead. Illumin forbid they'd actually try to attain it with their own two hands instead of asking Gods and Demons for it."

With this, she'd motioned at Daiko to come along. If people wanted to sell their souls to the devil they could knock themselves out. Inquisitors might worry about that garbage but Alisa sure as hell wouldn't. She would pay attention to those who would hope to sacrifice others in their stead, lacking even the gall to sacrifice themselves if they were that desperate. Those... Should be put down before they did anything they'd regret. Or not regret it, whichever really.

"Now... Stay in character.", urged the sculptress, peaking in a low tone, doing her best work at mimiking the laid back, yet oddly amusing posture of these cultists, their hands concealed inside their sleeves as they brought them together up front, carrying themselves almost like monks at a monastery... Even though there's hardly anything really sacred about this, or their conversation topics. When the next was avoided, Alisa couldn't help but sigh softly, really, she was getting tired of stuffing people in closets, all but chuckling as she neared the staircase, ready to head back upstair, "Not sure we'd have enough closets in this place for all their unconscious bodies..."

Daiko Flayme
No less, eh? Daiko was beginning to get curious about what Alisa had gone through to come to this point. Perhaps he should ask about that huge sword of hers… he could’ve sworn that he saw it before. Oh well. The painting sure made them agree about the assumed mentality of these people. That thing looked like a crocodile and a leech merged together with a human or vampire’s face and an ox’ horns. Those legs were more or less chameleon-like with sharp claws, and that repulsive tail… Daiko had a thing against reptilians in general, but this one birthed disgust in him.

Quickly, they both moved towards the stairs by passing by the cultists residing in the living room. Some of the cultists nodded in small greetings to Daiko, and he merely nodded back with a confident smile. Yeah, he wasn’t a real cultist, but how big was the chance that they would recognize each other so strongly that any attempt at infiltrating the group was futile?

After some serious nodding and even a handshaking by one friendlier cultist, Daiko and Alisa were found at the foot of the staircase. There weren’t any closets upstairs, so if they stirred trouble, it was all or nothing. However, a cultist came hurrying down the stairs and approached the two of them in a slight panic. “H-Hey, we need two more logs. You, follow me,” he commanded whilst nodding towards Alisa as if she was just another cultist. The disguise worked, but what did he need logs for? Whatever it was, Daiko sure felt prompted to delay it.

Daiko turned his head towards Alisa and nodded her to follow the cultist down to where the logs were. With a quick move by his eyes only, he aimed to signal that he would go upstairs and see what they were going to do with logs. If Alisa could delay or stop the cultist from bringing the logs upstairs, then the rest would notice by time. And if they got any suspicions of intruders, then Daiko would be ready to burn them all down.

"Just go with him. I'll wait upstairs with the rest," he informed them both with a calm tone. The cultist nodded in response and continued downstairs, assuming Alisa would follow.

Little did he know that to reach Alisa's level of power, no specific training regimen could really get you there any faster. More than anything, one needed discipline and preseverance to carry on, to seek greater heights, to surpass one's own limits at every turn. One one who could train regular and consistently could reach this level of power but even that alone wouldn't quite cut it. After all, you can have all the power in the world and not the slightest clue of how to use it... And that comes from experience, and not only from your own fights, but from meeting people, from doing all manners of jobs...

Even something as seemingly random as infiltrating a random demon cultist's abode counted as a breadth of experience they could rely on in the future, the dos and don'ts when the next time came... They'd most certainly have others, hence why learning more about your foe before obliterating it became paramount. Handshakes and curt nods were exchanged, and Alisa felt glad the hood hit the insistent twitching of her eyebrow... These guys got on her nerves wasy too much, but she kept a firm lid on those emotions, ready to carry on with the investifation until one of the guys sheepishly called back to her:

"Huh...?", uttered Alisa, taking advantage of that naturally throaty voice and making it sound deeper still. Thought she couldn't quite shake off that femininity altogether, she managed it more than well enough not to draw unwanted attention. Not speaking all might have been better, possibly, but for now, she settled with not drawing too much attention with a grumbling, "Fine..."

Her annoyance clearly meshed well with the men's image of their two buddies, letting her pass unimpeded. She shared a look with her teammate, as if silently wondering if he had any clue what they'd need the logs for. One thing they both obviously knew was, it really wasn't anything good. As that one cultist motioned her to follow and turned around, Alisa came face to face with a choice - trade away their cover, or split up and do their own investigations. At this point, she only saw one real choice. At the very least, they'd need a headcount of all the enemies, to make sure none escape, and if that fails, keep track of those who do. But ideally, they'd need to find out what they got up to in here:

"Think, Daiko. If you were a pathetic, demon worshipping psychopath, what would you need all the wood for...?", mumbled Alisa, inaudible to all but him as that one guy called her away. Resting a hand on his shoulder, she nodded and walked off, on the trail of the other guy.

Daiko Flayme
Wood… it was likely used for burning. He realized that just as Alisa let go of his shoulder as if she indirectly implanted the answer to her own rhetorical question in him. Watching the cultist lead her downstairs, Daiko took a second to breathe in before walking upstairs. This wasn’t good. This was actually really bad, not going to lie about that. Obviously, this was a huge issue. Wood equaled burn in his head, and given their whole demon ordeal, they were likely setting up an oven of fire… his steps sped up a little, but he was nervous about dropping his cover. What if they had someone innocent in their hands?

Expecting the worst, he turned to the left and eyed the half-open door where the voices of a dozen people could be heard. It sounded like chanting, almost praying sounds like those from the church nearby. Daiko considered entering, but… then again, if they were chanting, wouldn’t his presence disturb them? Wouldn’t he, as a pretentious cultist, know to stay out? Wouldn’t that blow his cover? Fortunately, another cultist came out from the toilet further down the hallway where he stood, and as the cultist approached the door, Daiko decided to follow him in without saying a word. Just being casual like any other cultist.

The floor was made of granite in here. Even through his thick boots, he felt the difference in friction and density. However, further ahead, he saw what was definitely a kind of sacrificial circle of stones with a log in the middle, put up standing in order to hold… an unconscious, naked lady. Her skin looked a little dry, she must’ve been tied up for a very long time. She looked hurt too, but she was twitching and moving akin to a sleeping person having nightmares. He… Daiko didn’t know what to do at that point. One thought told him to cover his eyes, because her business was exposed right in front of him. Another thought commanded him to free her, not thinking of the sudden reactions of the 12 other cultists in the room. A third thought told him to stay undercover and wait for the right time to save her, but that thought didn’t take the possibility of her becoming too late to save in account. But she was definitely planned to be burnt, most likely to summon the demon.

“… H-H-H-Hmh…” he hummed in trouble, trying to assert a sort of curiosity of a cultist despite how violently it went against his sense of morality, “S-She… *cough* given her looks, our future guest must be… high in power.” He was beginning to sweat a little, but he let a sigh out in relief after another cultist turned his intrigued face towards the pretentious cultist and explained: “Uhm… as delightful as that would be, it takes time to summon a higher one. We changed plans today; we’ll try and summon a lower god and work our way up. I mean, she’s not that pretty, after all,but she'll contribute greatly to our recovery… we’ll start low and hopefully climb our way up from the bottom once more.” Daiko had half a mind to rip his jaw off at the moment, but he managed to protect his cover, somehow. He also got a description of the types of people who would revere demons… what he said about her was unacceptable. Turning his face back to the tied up hostage, his face contorted into one of pure sadness. It wasn’t as if he gave up on her - that wouldn’t happen - but he genuinely felt bad for her and the situation that she ended up in.

“And Rakshasa hasn’t returned with that damn discos yet,” the cultist from before continued in annoyance, “But I don’t expect her to come back anytime soon. She always thinks she’s so thorough with her business, what a fake maneater…” That was… mildly random. However, Daiko took the smart route and wanted to know more about this discos, in which he asked: “Where was she again?” “Dahlia. Don’t wait for her, she and the others will probably go on an orgy for another week or two. That bitch…”

“Well, you know what they say… you’ve got to keep yourself sated and hydrated.”

“… Urgh, I would’ve loved to grant her an intimate acorn if she wasn’t so uptight…”

“… W-What, again? She eats acorns?”

“Y-You, wait, no, you heard nothing! YOU HEARD NOTHING. Now c’mon, let’s get in line - when that new guy brings the rest of the wood, fireworks will start.”

With that said, the troubled cultist joined the chanting people with their closed eyes and horrifying thoughts. Daiko had no idea what he was talking about earlier, but given the Fire Mage’s sudden ‘expertise’ at investigating, he found out that there was a group in Dahlia with the same motives concerning some kind of discos… or whatever that was. He also seemed to have something against her… but all he talked about was food? Then again, it’s not that healthy to eat acorns; walnuts and peanuts were better.

Okay, so they need wood… wow, I got a lot poured down at me. I should wait for the guy from earlier to show up, then send all these bullies straight to hell.

---------------------------------------------------------

“Alright, it’s a little large, but we’ll manage,” the fresher cultist said whilst holding one end of a short log, “She won’t wake up anytime soon. We can get this up and start the ritual no time…” He awaited Alisa’s help to lift up the log from the other end with the enthusiasm of some sort of freshman. He was definitely young in his voice… young and naïve for a demon worshipper.

Well... That was about as fun as you'd imagine helping murderous cultists might be. He bossed Alisa around, but for the most part seemed to treat her like his brethren, scarcely sparing much thought towards how his actual brethren had been incapacitated and stuffed inside a closet like a piece of used cloth.

"Damn Mike, you're awfully silent for a blabbermouth...", was the only really sharp observation he made the whole time, one that made the sculptress gasp, softly, hiding any signs of excessive wariness that might tip her away, and instead just shrugging as she huffed and picked up a couple logs on either shoulder, "... Riiiight, you go by Satan or some conceited name now huh? I swear brother, you should probably not call yourself that when we summon or Lord and Savior from the abyss."

Alisa sighed, letting the man talk on on his own, for he talked for the two of them and then more. She couldn't really talk without trading away her cover, and since she couldn't do that, might as well accept it and instead see just how far along she could get without talking at all. For how long could her cover actually hold?

"Hmmm~...", she all but chuckled the moment she walked inside the cult room, overhearing the conversation those few cultists were having fun with, and aleady imagining just how clueless Daiko might be to the whole thing... That was, until she saw the woman strapped to a pyre like that, and her brow immediately twitched. Naked before a gang of greasy old lowlives, about to be sacrificed to some demon so these sheep could feel like wolves for two minutes before they were all eviscerated... It disgusted her to no end. As they called her over to put the logs around the pyre, she did so, she soon sought her partner's gaze, nodding the moment he caught sight of those wine red eyes, a look that spoke volumes and made her intentions all too clear.

She waited for an opening, any opening... Yet that look in her eyes made it all too clear; she wouldn't wait long, wouldn't let them do anything drastic. Though she knew to bide her time, like a good hunter, to strike at her prey in it's moment of weakness. With great reluctance, she began working on the binds, assisting that chatty cultist in laying down the extra logs, all but gritting her teeth and biting back the desire to engage right now.

"Stand back brothers... The time has come.", spoke the head cultist, approaching with torch, and Alisa could only gasp. It was time now, do or die, she wouldn't really back away from the victim and let the cultists set her on fire or any other wickedness they could conjure up. Hell, she wouldn't even let them get within a certain distance, accounting for the possibility of someone accidentally dropping the torch onto the pyre, "Hmmm... I said stand back, brother."

The man repeated himself, finding Alisa standing in his path, with no intention to move away. Do or die now... Fortunately, these guys were using fire, and one in their number had better firepower. She could only hope Daiko hadn't lost his magic these past few years, just as Alisa did.

"How about no...?", Alisa spoke coldly the moment she could no longer protect her cover. It had done it's part. She had now accounted for and visualized each end every cultist here, like a ravenous predator locking on her prey.

Oh, Alisa had returned. She must’ve stood in the way for the cultist to prevent the poor victim from getting burned alive. That meant… that they would find her hostile in a moment’s notice. Therefore, their covers wouldn’t matter. Looking at each side of Alisa to glance the other cultists, some of them were confused and hesitant in making any move for the moment, while others gritted their teeth in utter disbelief. “… What’s the meaning of this, Satan?” one of the cultists asked in frustration, “We have everything ready, and you know that we have to do this… are you turning against us?” Once those words were spoken, more cultists took a battle stance as in an order to stop the rogue cultist had been laid out.

“Guys, we don’t need to burn the wood; we already have other flammables much more suited for this…”

“… Huh? What are you-“

Daiko was holding a hand up in the air. Then, he suddenly aimed his hand at many cultists in high speed, almost appearing to be some kind of professional gunner; a circlet of fire with a feather blade in the middle was launched at each cultist rapidly, burning their faces before any of them could move too far. It caused a light show to cover the air above them in the small room as their cries echoed. One of the unhurt ones lashed out to punch the Fire Mage, but as he with some effort grabbed the upcoming punch, Daiko’s right arm was visible as… covered in sharp edges that appeared to be like a statue of a glowing plumage.

“You’ve already summoned your demon right here!” he stated to the shocked cultist who cried for help. Another member approached the lady tied up, and Daiko eyed him from the corner of his eye. He threw the other cultist away and launched himself towards the bon, kneeing the cultist to near concussion - they were quite durable - and starting to untie the unconscious, naked woman. All the cultists aimed at him with magic circles showing demonic insignia. Even with burned faces, they wouldn’t be fucked by a couple of intruders like this. “Kill him! Kill them both!!!”

This time, Alisa didn't bother answering about their little buddy named Satan that almost had her rolling her eyes. What a pitiful excuse for a naming sense... Not that it mattered much on the grand scheme of things, compared to their other misdeeds, these pitiful cultists could almost be forgiven for their piss poor taste.

"Y-you...! You're not!", mumbled one of them, as Alisa calmly removed her hood.

They had little time to actually process the revelation that their brother was actually no brother at all, before a fiery conflagration drew their eyes to yet another rogue cultist in their midst, drawing all their eyes from Alisa. And that was the moment she chose to strike:

"HAAAHH!!!", crying her lungs out as the fighting commenced, she struck out with a sudden, explosive left fist, aiming right at the jaw of the nearest cultist, sweeping any semblance of initative right under from under their feet. And as the others charged in from behind her, Alisa advanced on that same guy, taking a quick step towards him as he staggered, lowering her stance, contracting and then expanding into a fierce body shot, putting all her strength behind that one straight blow to his solar plexus, sending him unceremoniously into some of his buddies...

None of them had enough mass to stop the sheer force of the Ace mage's blow, so her target just kept going, slamming through a wall before crashing into whatever furniture there awaited to greet him. Between Alisa's strength and her partner's firepower they had little chance at stopping it, taking a step back as she turned around, brining her feet together before raising her dominant left leg unleashing a flurry of kicks on the two advancing cultists, knocking them out and taunting the rest:

"What's the matter...? Can't move unless your targets are bound and naked?", glared the sculptress, looking at each of the quivering excuses for men. All that time she kept Daiko and the helpless victim out the corner of her eyes, brow raising slightly as she watched him unleash what appeared to be a flaming transformation magic, if only for the briefest of moments.

Gasping as red magic circles drew in the air all around them, Alisa dashed in the way, each of her hands striking two nearby cultists in the head, grabbing them both by the neck as she placed herself in the path of the fireball barrage and crouched, using the captured cultists as meatshields. Mere grunts, the lot of them. Some lanky, others overweight, with none having even the smallest semblance of physical fitness to keep up with her, or magical ability to match Daiko's. No matter how many rats came at her, in the end they were still mere herbivores, left shivering in their places as she bared her fangs... Either of them could unleash hell on their happy little demonic tea party, but for now, they had other priorities:

"Cut her loose and get her out of here Daiko.", urged Alisa, gritting her teeth as he couldn't quite protect her own hands as she held on to the charred flesh of the cultists.

Daiko Flayme
With the naked woman in his arms, Daiko felt paranoid for a moment. He was in the middle of a battlefield inside a room in a mansion, and he could be taken for an easy target. If he didn’t get out of here anytime soon, then he would be shot down along with the poor victim that he tried to save. And that was when Alisa removed her hood and claimed her presence in the room as well, so discreetly that not even Daiko noticed that she came back already.

In the midst of the heat, Alisa turned the attention of the several cultists towards herself. It was a laid-out plan to get him and the victim out of here, while the sculptress would deal with the no-brainers. Picking the victim up on his arms, Daiko charged forth towards the door and only had to knock down one guy thanks to Alisa’s distraction. From the frame of the door, he leapt up and moved in the air at a perfectly horizontal direction, his feet aiming at the window in front of him. The feet emitted bursts of fire that broke down the window before he had to do any recoiling damage on his own, and he and the victim came outside unharmed.

He grew out sharp feathers from his arm that functioned as blades to cut off the ropes containing the woman in his arms. She would need some clothes too…

About the commotion that would still go on inside the mansion, however; as far as Daiko remembered, Alisa was a goddamn, sickly powerful wizard. He still remembered their spar the same day they first met, and her Crystal Magic proved superior to his own Fire Magic. Therefore, over time, he assumed that she only got stronger, and that she could handle the cultists on her own… hell, he would even bet on her against one of their demons. It was Alisa!

Alisa

WORDS: 450 | TAG: @daiko | HUNTER

"They're getting awa-!!", one particular cultist had no chance to even complete his sentence, or draw his eyes away from the sculptress long enough to impede Daiko's escape. Alisa was on him in a flash, lobbing a piece of charred wood and hitting him square in the head.

Alisa didn't need a single spell, even better for she had no real ability to get one off.
Unlike what Daiko might assume, she hadn't grown stronger with the passing of time, the crystalline magic he'd grown used to seeing her rely on was no more... To make up for that lacking, she'd returned to her roots as a martial artist and unarmed combatant, just as her uncle had trained her to be. With swift reflectives and a keen, attentive eyes, she tracked each and every one of them, she dashed and darted around the room, striking left and right. Not to say she completely avoided any and all damage, but what few hints of damage hit her scarcely ever hit her square, gradually charring away what remained of her cloak while the tight Hunter's armor held firm.

"Now... You've lost the closest thing a trump card you actually had... What will you do now?", spoke the sculptress, frigid as ever, yet rationally realizing she had a far clearer opening to stand and stare her foes down, noticing how many of the weak willed, out of shape mages had run themsleves out of steam, exhausting all their mana hitting each other and thin air.

It's not as if she'd face any real challenge knocking out these cultists, after successfully depriving them of the one trump card they yet had to play, the ability to actually summon a demon that may pose a threat. Sure, she wouldn't expect this potential summon to actually swear fealty to its summoners, and yet, she's most certainly fight it on principle. She could handle the devil she knew, but no way in hell she'd let the devil she didn't set its foot in this world.

They'd be lucky to lose only a single foot in the attempt, and if she had her way, they'd lose a lot more. And these cultists were learning that firsthand. While not specifically going out of her way to kill them all, she struck with callous intent to incapacitate, disabling her foes vehemently enough that some inevitably perished in the process... Before long, she wiped out the whole room as well as some straggles a bit too slow on the escape. The early deserters could have easily gotten away, but Daiko could have easily taken them himself:

"Now then... That takes care of the summoners... But their spells must still be around here somewhere..."
