So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | Waves of the wind swooped through the air and carried dry leaves with them only to despiser them elsewhere. The sun peeked through the clouds, attempting to get a view of the chill winter afternoon. The sky laid above the calm and peaceful city like a blanket of warmth, except it was cold. Too cold in fact. Snuggling in her long brown jacked, the female grabbed its edges and pulled it close to her. The sound of her heels clicking against the granite path frowned within the sea of noises that journeyed through the area. Her look was rather professional today because she was out for work. The long brown coat sheltered her from the wind as her black blouse hung on her torso beneath it. The black jeans clasped at her waist and stuck close to her legs as she swayed through the crowd. Using her slender hand, she tucked the loose strand of pink hair behind her ear. The breeze caressed her hair that ran wild. Taking both her hands out of her pockets, she grabbed her hair and clutched it at her neck while the ends wildly flew in all directions. Using her right hand, she grasped the hair band that rested on her left wrist and pulled it over, wrapping her hair in a loose yet convenient ponytail while strands at the front remained untouched, framing her face. After about five minutes of walking, her steps finally halted as she stared up, looking at the entrance of the local knights quarter, or as the locals liked to call it, the police station. Her hands loosened around her body as she placed them in her pocket and swiftly strode inside. “Is inspector Nilan here?” Her voice echoed through the bustling station, which was probably busy freaking out over the task that she had been called to solve. The area went quiet as all eyes landed on her. Her mouth broke out into a small smile as they all murmured in curiosity. “If you’ve stared enough, can you tell me where I can find inspector Nilan?” Her curiosity was solved as as middle aged man stepped forward. He appeared quite young, quite serious and rather responsible. His messy black hair laid on his forehead as his soft expression was one of curiosity and surprise. “That would be me. How may I help you?” He swerved through the crowd of men and landed in front of her. Despite her talk figure and small heels, he still towered over her as she waited for him to realize who she was. The new system didn’t make it very easy. Since he hadn’t realized while walking to her, she figured that telling him wouldn’t hurt her pride. “I’m Xandra Queen.” Before she could continue, his eyes wandered to her neck around which her pendant wrapped. The pendant was made exclusive for Rune Knights only, hence making them very easy to spot. The female made always carried it around with her but rarely ever wore it. Sometimes it was better if no one knew who she was. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | As he spotted her pendant, his eyes widened before he immediately broke out into a smile. Perhaps one of relief because someone had arrived to solve the problem he and his team had been facing for days now. She was only given the gist of the job she was to undertake. All she knew was murders were happening and that too, at a increasingly steady rate. “Ah yes, Miss.Queen, you’re a Rune Knight. Thank you so much for coming.” His smile was rather welcoming as he pushed his hand forth for a shake which she gladly complied with as she pulled her hand out of her pocket for. “As you already know, my name is Nilan. So Miss.Queen-“ She pursued her lips together as she had been quite tired of all the formality. She understood that she was there for work but over the past few years, the idea of strict formality and hierarchy irked her. “Please call me Xandra.” He seems quite taken aback, perhaps because most knights might not prefer being called by their first names because knights were a group who valued hierarchy a bit to much. His shocked expression went back to morphing a smile. It was true what they had said. The female had previously heard about this man who was once a high ranked Rune Knight. However, due to personal reasons, he had left and just recently, returned. From what she had heard, he was very nice, responsible and reliable. She liked that. People like that we’re easy to work with. “Well then, Xandra, I assume you already know why you’re here. Recently, there have been streaks of murders happening and unfortunately, we haven’t been able to catch the perpetrator yet. They appear to be quite sharp and thorough. It’s been tough, as you can imagine which is why we asked for help. I hope I can trust this job to you.” He looked at her with a smile which she returned. “Of course” Looking around, he called upon three people who went by the names, of she remembered correctly, Arias, Leron and San. They were all young men, perhaps in their twenties who stood very firmly as they listened to orders from Inspector Nilan which consisted of them accompanying her to the last two crime sites and updating her on the situations. The first young man, Arias appeared to be very kind and cheerful which was evident with the smile on his face and the happy aura he emitted. Her brown hair hung loose of head as it fell on his forehead. He marched up to her with a smile on his face. Up close, he was about the same height as she was without the tiny push which her heels gave her. “Arias reporting for duty, Ma’am.” His smile broke out into a grin as his hand flew up to her in a salute. He appeared to be someone who liked to have fun, even on the job but she just returned his smile with one of her own and nodded her head in acknowledgement. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | The second Knight, Leron seemed to be a bit more serious as he stood there, towering over her. He was a bit taller that inspector Nilan as he looked down to stare into her eyes. He had blonde hair that was spiked up, adding to his height as his blue orbs stared right into her green ones. He merely nodded at her in acknowledgement. It didn’t take her long to figure out that he was someone who was rather serious with his work. He wouldn’t talk unless he needed to. Strangely, he reminded her of herself from two years ago. She too was the same as him, someone who didn’t unnecessarily speak. She was someone who didn’t bother with anyone and never displayed her emotions to others, never through her face or through her words. She was so different from her. Her face fell as she reminisced the past. Perhaps it was also because of his blonde hair that she was reminded of her past. Somehow, she hated it. She hated the way she was and she was glad to have changed. It was the fact that she saw her past self in him that made her smile falter. She simply nodded at him in return of his one word introduction, “Leron.” The last rune Knight was nothing special compared to the first two contrasting knights. He was a bit taller than her with pink hair, eerily similar to hers, that was combed backwards. On the rim of his nose hung a pair of glasses that he casually pushed up as he walked up. A small smile embellished his face as his brown eyes stared right at her. He extended his hand, “I’m San, it’s nice to meet you.” She grabbed his hand and shook it, feeling a strange sense of familiarity with him. Unlike the previous one, this one felt more familiar or rather, comfortable to be around. He was strangely bland but she didn’t hate it. He felt like a breathe of fresh air between the two extremes that she had been thrown together with. Without wasting anymore time, Xandra set out with the three knights when the afternoon sun still lingered in the sky. Thy headed to the previous two crime scenes where people were murdered. When they arrived at the first scene, it was a parking lot that was uninhabited by vehicles. In the middle of the vicinity laid a pool of dried blood that stained the granite. “That’s where it happened.” Arias stated as he heaved a sigh. His smile disappeared for obvious reasons as he got serious when work came around. She wouldn’t have been able to stand him if he didn’t. “The murderer showed up at approximately 9:26 pm in this area. The victim was a young woman named Lee Young. Aged 22. She was on her way back from work and was stabbed in the abdomen five times before she died. The murderer is expected to be right handed from the pattern of the stab.” |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | Leron had told her all the information that she needed to know. Her emerald orbs stared at the blood stain at the ground. The Knights monotonous tone didn’t make it any difficult for her to put herself in the victims situations, considering that they were almost the same age. She wondered what the motive could have been but perhaps her mind wandered everywhere because it was her first time dealing with a murder case. Regardless, recently she had become very emotional. Her fists clenched inside her coat pockets as she found herself becoming more determined to find the perpetrator. “There’s evidence to show that he was quite rough on her. Bruises, random uneven stab wounds and even a broke rib. It sounds like she had to go through a lot. It must have been a painful death.” She turned to look at the man, San, as he stated at the crime scene with his fists clenched. His face held a stern expression as his eyes held remorse and regret. It seemed suspicious but her suspicion was cleared as he continued. “It’s a shame that we couldn’t find the perpetrator. I really hope you can and bring the victims peace.” He looked at her with softened eyes. There was desperation and hope in his eyes as she stared at him, only giving a small nod. Her gut told her that something was off. There was something that she wasn’t catching onto but she didn’t know what it was. She bit the inside her cheek before glancing at the dried pool of blood once again. “Let’s move onto the next location.” As per her request, they moved onto the last location where the most recent murder had taken place. Much to her surprise, the murder happened in the middle of the street. Not even in an alleyway, but in the middle of the street. She knitted her brows together and glanced at the three men in confusion. “A murder happened in the middle of the street and you’re telling me that not a single person witnessed it?” The three men couldn’t help but nod in response. “After the streak of murders began, many people stopped staying out after 7 pm because it gets dark and dangerous. They’re all scared that they might be the next victim.” The female tilted her head and looked at the windows around. The bustling people all avoided the area where they stood, perhaps because of the dried blood stains which seemed like someone had tried to clean them. “There are many windows here. Apartments, I’m guessing. Did no one see the murder happening from there? Or even heard a scream?” San looked at her and shook his head in disappointment. “We went around and investigated. None of the citizens looked out of their window. They had heard something that sounded like a scream but were too scared to check. It’s quite disappointing but we have no leads right now.” “The victim was a teenage boy, aged 17. He was stabbed three times and was hit on the head.” |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | The female was rather frustrated. It was weird that so many people live around the area but none of them, even out of curiosity had peeled outside the window. A young boy got murdered and people were too afraid. Letting out an annoyed sigh, she folded her hands over her chest as the three men looked at her. “Who tried to clean the blood?” Arias looked at the ground. “Oh, after we finished our investigation, we asked the city cleaners to clean it up. It’s a street that’s occupied in the day so it’s disturbing for people to look at a blood stain all the time.” It was time to turn serious. Tucking strands of hair behind her ears, she thanked the three knights for helping her so far and told them that they could leave, which they gladly did. They left the female alone to deal with the situation upon which she pondered. What could she do to get the murderer to come to her instead or having to constantly look for him. She had to lure him in and teach him a lesson. Her hands formed into fists and she felt rage. Sometimes, reason wasn’t the way to go about the situation and this situation was one such at that. As she concocted her plan within the nearest cafe, staring at the sun as it set, she waited for the night to fall. From what she knew so far, the murderer was thorough and didn’t leave behind any evidence. He only attacked at night. A rather meticulous perpetrator was what she was after. He was someone who played with people and now it was her turn to play with him. Or so she thought. As the clock hit seven, the owner of the cafe rushed her out and closed the business for the day. In moments, she could see people rushing back home and soon, the lights went off in the street. The female scrunched her nose and pouted, wondering how she was supposed to find the murderer in the entire city by herself but maybe she didn’t have to. When the clock moved to eight, she was wandering around areas that would usually be crowded in the morning. It’s likely that he might appear there. She could only hope that he was foolish enough to think of her as a victim and attempt to attack her. The pendant that rested around her neck was now in her pocket. To others who didn’t know her, she was probably just a young foolish women walking down a dangerous street. Her emerald hues were flickering from left to right, taking note of every small movement that occurred as her ears were sharp and picked up any noise behind her but what didn’t occur to her was that maybe, just maybe, there was someone else out there just like she was. It was the scream that echoed through the air, reaching her ears that made her realize that. She wouldn’t be the victim if there might have been someone else there. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | She turned on her feet and bolted as fast as she could. The sound of her heels colliding against the granite streets and her pounding heartbeat was all that entered her ear. The blood rushed to her face as the wind slammed against her body in an attempt to slow her down but it didn’t work. It took her only a few seconds to reach the origin of the scream and there laid a middle aged woman in a pool of her own blood. The lack of light made it difficult for her to see but she rushed over the the woman’s side and picked her up in her arms. The limp body leaned against her own physique. Everywhere she looked, there was blood. The woman was stabbed in the torso. Visibly gulping, the mage pressed her index finger against the victims nose and then proceeded to use her fingers to check for a pulse against her neck but unfortunately, it was to no avail. She couldn’t feel anything. There was no warm breath, neither was there a beating pulse. Rage filled her body as she realized that an innocent woman became victim to a murderers streak of kills and that too, so close to her. Looking closely at the victim, she was able to make out a face. The woman was familiar; she was the owner of the cafe that the Knight was in just merely an hour ago. There was something fishy about this, something that wasn’t right. Her thoughts wandered. Perhaps, the murderer had been following her, knowing what she was up to. Perhaps, he purposely killed the woman who owned the cafe to make a statement or rather, to play with the Knight. He wanted to show her that she couldn’t catch him and that’s what pissed her off. He killed an innocent woman for his own twisted pride. She was brimming with rage and the will to catch him. She could feel the fresh warm blood spread to her knees. Her brown coat was covered in patches of blood. Sighing, she set the woman down, removing her own blood covered jacket to lay it on top of the victim, covering the woman’s cold body as she laid there lifeless. Her black clothes mingled with the surroundings and absorbed the blood of the victim. It was time to get back at the murderer and she had an idea as to how she would do that. The clock struck eight thirty and she moved to the darkness, silently. Her leisured steps halted once she reached an empty street. If her instincts were right, she could execute the plan perfectly. Looking at her hand that was stained with the warm blood of the victim, she held it over her stomach. Taking a deep breathe, she hoped that she was indeed being watched like she had expected. An exasperated sigh escaped her body as her acting skills took charge. Bending over, she let out heaves of breaths as if she was in pain. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | Deep breaths escaped her lips as they grew louder and louder, filling the area that was previously draped with silence. Occasionally coughs followed her as tears gushed out of her eyes and she gasped for a breathe of fresh air. Slowly leering herself towards the ground, she fell onto her knees, clutching her stomach in pain. Or at least that’s what it looked like. It was time for the finale. Finally rolling her eyes, she collided against the ground sideways, letting her body hit the dirt. Her hand fell limp towards her side as she stayed on the ground. She laid there for three minutes, then five, then ten. After what has felt like forever, her ears perked up at the sound of footsteps. Perhaps her plan did work after all. She could only slow down her breaths and lay there still to make her act appear genuine. Her body felt a rush of cold pass through it but she remained. Not even her finger flinched. The footsteps grew closer. They came towards her at a constant pace, in sync with each other. For every millisecond that there was silence during the interval between his steps, she waited patiently and silently. His steps had an aura of their own. She didn’t even have doubts that it may be someone else. The guy feeling that kicked her was enough to let her know that this was the murderer; the man she had been looking for. Thinking about his deeds made blood flow to her face in anger but she contained it. She had learnt over time that sometimes, rather than waiting for a logical and rational answer to appear, she had to trust her guts because they might prove to be more useful that she would have thought. And so, that’s what she did. As she listened to his steps, the feeling of familiarity drew over her. Step. Step. Step. This feeling was something she had experienced before but she couldn’t point where. The feeling of comfort yet discomfort, the feeling of suspicion yet unsurity and the distant feeling of familiarity. That’s when it clicked. She knew who it was but she also hoped that she was wrong. Forcing her body to stay still, she continued listening to the footsteps that emitted a strong and powerful aura. It radiated an energy of evil, as if it was something like a force that shouldn’t be reckoned with. She gulped and only moments later, the steps halted. Her face was creased as her eyebrows knitted together, giving the appearance of pain. She wondered what he was doing that he stood there silently. He was so still. There was something suspicious. The sudden gust of wind from above that scraped over her arm gave it away. Instantly, she rolled over on her right arm and her eyes flew open, looking at the figure looking above her. His body was bend down as the blade in his hand glistened under the moonlight. He was trying to kill her. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | He had been fooled but not enough. She had excepted him to come up to her and try to check if she was alive but he had come to attack her, kill her off for real. It was good that she had moved, otherwise she would have been attacked. Her emerald orbs stared right at him as her mouth broke out into a small smile. “So I was right, it is you.” The man stepped back in confusion as he braved himself for a fight. He was covered from head to toe in a black attire which helped him mingle with the surroundings. Without wasting any more time, he launched towards her after grasping his knife carefully and attempted to attack her. He was fast, she could give him that but not faster than her. She pushed her body weight on her right hand and used the diagonal leg to push her body upwards. Using her hand as a pivot, she twirled over and landed on the ground with her feet there. As he launched towards her, unable to stop himself because of her sudden action, she took her chance. Bending her knees for more support, she used her right hand and formed it into a fist that would slam into his abdomen the moment he stopped before her. Once she had made her first move, he was sent back by at least ten centimeters. By the feel of his torso, she could tell that he was strong. “I hope you don’t think I’ll let you get away with this.” He firmly placed himself on his feet. By the way his body was positioned, she could tell that he was experienced in fighting. This only strengthened her suspicion. It was about time to make the final move. She wasn’t sure about this but she had to do it. Bluffing has always been her speciality but she could only hope that it would work this time. “Did you actually think I wouldn’t figure it out? You must take me for an idiot.” She paused. “San.” Silence followed as her expression remained the same; calm, composed and confident. Her smirk widened and that became his breaking point. He let out an exasperated laugh before completely breaking out into streaks of laughter. He let down his guard as she rolled over in joy. She could only wonder what was so funny. Pulling the black mask off his face, he revealed it. She was right. It had been the knight who previously showed her around. Tears fell from his eyes as his grin widened. Wiping away the beads of water that escaped his eyes, she stopped. “Well done, Xandra. You surprised me. I didn’t expect you to figure out something the others couldn’t. I even managed to fool Nilan, that bastard.” His expression suddenly turned serious. “Now that you know, you’ll have to die. It was fun though, having someone figure out who I was.” She only laughed in response. Using her hand, she gestured towards him to come at her. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | The man gleefully obliged as he firmly gripped the knife and launched towards her. The top of the knife faced her as the Knight came at her in a steady rate. Within a fraction of a second, he was towards her. Having been faster than she was expecting, he reached her side in no time while she was occupied in thought. He tried to slash her from the back, perhaps knowing that she could stop his attack from the front. She leaped forward quickly, wasting no time before turning on her heel to launch at him. As she prepared her attack, she was surprised to find him already coming after her so by the time she turned, his blade almost pierced through her body. Her instincts caught us as her hand raised and clutched the blade of the sharp knife. That appeared to have caught him off guard as momentarily stopped. She used that time to her advantage and used her other hand to grip his wrist . Freeing her hand from the blade, she recoiled it and slammed her fist against his face. He attempted to pull back his wrist but she held it in place and she continued the motion of punching him over an over again. After taking three hits to the face, he ducked when the fourth one approached. That’s when she used her right leg to launch it to his face that was facing downwards. Having expected the attack, he used his free hand to block her knee, heaving out a sigh of pain that surged through his face and his hand. Without putting her knee back on the ground, she folded her arm upwards and slammed her elbow down the back of his head which faced upwards. His face crashed against his own hand that held back her knee attack. She could feel the pressure on her leg which was enough to indicate that she hit him hard enough. But that wasn’t enough. After what he has done, it wasn’t enough. Rage swept over her as she clenched her jaw. Freeing his wrist, she pulled him back up by his collar and immediately slammed her fist into his face. Clenching both her hands into fists, she alternated and continued punching him without a second to spare, giving him no time to recover from the attack or even keep his balance. His momentum was lost as he kept stumbling backwards in an attempt to keep himself from falling backwards but after a growl of pain, he fell down into an unconscious state. Sighing, she looked down at her bloodied hands and without second though, grabbed his collar and dragged him to the Knights headquarter that was still open. Nilan was surprised to find out the culprit was one of his own men, and so were his other colleagues. After informing them of the woman’s body, they proceeded to interrogate the culprit only to find out why he did what he did and how; he knew the pattern of the knights patrol and easily snuck around unnoticed. It was safe to say that everyone was pissed but the citizens were happy that the perpetrator was found. |
