Earlier that day, Kerii went out for a walk to enjoy the semi-warm weather Orchidia had to offer before it began to rain. As the gray clouds gradually began to drift closer, the mage seized the opportunity to dip into her favorite café. It was quaint and usually only had a few people in at a time. Liking how quiet and cozy it was, the introvert frequented the place, and the staff knew her to be one of their regulars. Upon entry, a barista greeted her with a friendly smile and Kerii ordered a hazelnut latte, being sure to leave a generous tip. Once she got her drink, she sat down at one of the high tops facing a window. She did her hair up in a bun and proceeded to take a sip. Seemingly right as she did, it began to drizzle. She smirked as people desperately tried to escape the rain by ducking into shops and cafés of sorts before the rain really started to come down. Much to her surprise though, this little place she had been going to for so long began to become flooded with people. Of course she was glad that they were getting more business, but she liked the peaceful air the place always seemed to give off. That being said, it wouldn't make her leave. Though it was so crowded that there were few spots left to sit, Kerii would not leave until the rain let up.

Now Alisa was hardly fond of rain herself. She was a summer girl, a beach lover through and through... Ironically considering her northern blood, and how the excessive summer heat seemed to melt her in a puddle of sweat, turning her pale skin lobster red in only a few moments without adequate amounts of sunblock. One might even assume her hopelessly mashochistic about it, but in the end she simply adored the season and saw no reason to deprive herself from it for something as meager as an ill adapted physique... No doubt her immense vanity came into play too, for she'd scarecely miss such glorious chances to display her proud physique, after intense, relenentless hours of training...
"Alas, even these gray skies have a certain beauty to them...", mused the sculptress, glancing upwards as a powerful gust sent that long, flowing black hair futtering about over her face, drawing her hand up in a smooth, graceful motion as she tucked those loose tresses behind her ear, then slipped her hands back inside her pockets
After all, even though she'd yet have to wait a fair few months for her favorite time of the year, that hardly meant she'd coop herself up indoors and hibernate like a bear... For what heat her body failed to tolerate, she quite easily handled the cold, walking around the wet cobblestones of orchidia with a skirt and loose shirt, with nothing but a stylish jacket for a modicum of protection against the rain. Of course, even though she boldly ventured outdoors in this weather without an umbrella, she most certainly didn't enjoy getting thoroughly and utterly drenched, and thus, met the first few droplets with a wary raising of her palm, her brow furrowing slightly as she caught the first few droplets:
"Hmmm...", with an apprehensive hum, her brow furrowed as those peering wine red eyes darted left and right, looking to either side of the street for shelter from the deluge to come. As crowded as it may seem, she far preferred the nearby café to getting caught outside, far more so as those faint trickles became an all out downpour, "Better than no shelter at all I guess...", she sighed
Walking inside the comparatively sweltering indoors in a brisk pace, Alisa fanned herself gently and promptly removed her jacket, casually draping it over one arm as she brought a hand down to her hip, frowning at a sheer amount of people and looking for a quick place where she could sit down... A pretty blonde elf seemed to have the right idea; for some reason most people seemed to favor moving deeper inside, as opposed to hanging around by the window.
"Good afternoon~", greeted the Pegasus, the clacking of her heels announcing her approach as she quickly made a move on the sole remaining seat, approaching the girl at the table with a cool but approachable smile, the very picture of elegance, "I don't suppose this seat is taken...?"

A look of defeat on her face, the Lamia rested her chin in the palm of her hand. Before long, someone said hello to her. She attentively sat up straight and looked into the ruby eyes of the woman who spoke. She had long raven hair and wore a cute but breezy outfit. With a kind smile, she asked if the seat next to her was taken. Kerii shook her head. "Be my guest," said the mage, tucking a loose strand of hair that had fallen out of her messy bun behind her ear. "Aren't you cold?" she curiously asked. The elf's own outfit could be considered to be a bit on the cool side as well, but she at least had worn a sweater and grown accustomed to Orchidia's weather... for the most part. She was never sure if she would completely adjust to the bitter winters, but once they were done with, the chillier days seemed to be nearly akin to springtime.

That faint smile brightened as the elven beauty acquiesced to her intromission on her alone time, and in turn Alisa no longer had to worry about navigating the visibly thickening crowd, and could simply sit down and enjoy a warm cup of coffee while waiting for the rain to pass.
"Thank you~", spoke the sculptress, smiling as she draped her jacket on the back of her chosen chair, taking a moment to better gaze at the stranger who'd very soon no longer be one. A loner she may be, she never shied away from meeting those she found interesting, trusting her instincts when the time came to judge someone as such.
She shot a wary look outside, all but sighing as the rain showed no signs of even slowing down, even growing in intensity with that comparatively soothing pitter patter against the windows. Cupping her cheek as an elbow came to rest on the table, Alisa spent little time looking out the window, those wine red orbits turning back to the girl before her as her question reached her ears:
"Oh hardly~", she replied, brushing her hair behind her shoulder with a smooth, graceful motion, waving that hand dismissively as she pulled the back the chair and took a seat, slowly crossing her legs as one arm came to rest lazily upon the table, "If not for the rain, I could get by without a jacket really, I mean... The worst of the cold has long passed, has it not~?"
Though she spoke with a casual, laid back tone, as if she were speaking for everyone, Alisa clearly forgot how most others hardly boasted a similar tolerance for cold as herself. After all, this too was something you could train. Up to a point at least? Glancing outside once more inbetween curiously looking into those green eyes in front of her:
"Winter in Orchidia starts mellowing out around this time... When the rain passes, we'll start seeing spring blossoms~", she noted, hinting at her own experience with this part of the country. Though not specifically from Orchidia, Alisa was born not too far from the city, and understandably recalled it well enough.

The woman with vermilion eyes made a comment about how the worst of the cold had passed, and soon there would be flowers blooming all over town. She spoke about it in a way that made it seem like she had some experience with Orchidia. Perhaps she even lived there at one point, but the elf could not recall seeing her before. Still, she nodded in agreement. "Mhm, it's one of the things I like most about this town, though I'm assuming you understand why. Are you from here or..." She trailed off, prompting the stranger to explain if she so chose.
Orchidia was a crowded city. Kerii would be lying if she said she even knew half the people there, but she could for the most part tell who was a resident and who was not. It was possible that this young woman had lived there in her youth, hence why the Lamia did not recognize her. It would explain her knowledge of the town, but Orchidia was also a temporary home to travelers of all sorts, be it merchants or mages. Crossing her legs, the elf awaited an answer.

"Indeed I do~", she chuckled, glancing outside, sighing delightedly as the firmly ingrained image of Orchidia in bloom flashed to the forefront of her mind. She'd witnessed such beauty many, many times now, and not for a moment would it start getting old. Yes... Very soon they'd get to see it again, no point leaving the city before that, "Not exactly from Orchidia mind you~", Alisa corrected, a small detail, but a relevant one considering the girl too seemed to be familiar with the region, "I was born in a small town not too far north from here, closer to the border."
Beyond her odd tolerance for cold, her tall stature and pale, smooth complexion hinted at her northern heritage if one looked close enough, and Alisa often wondered if being born near the border had anything to do with her multiethnic heritage... Or perhaps it was little more than a simple coincidence.
"You as well...? You most certainly speak as though you're from the area, or at least very familiar with it~", inquired the sculptress in turn, resting her hand on her arm, tapping her cheek, tilting her head all too curiously. She hardly knew that many elves, beyond Liana and that one boy named Christian she'd never met again ever since...
And Liana wasn't an even an elf when they first met... Granted, she cared more for the who the bookish beauty was now, rather than where she came from, though seeing the whole picture in all its glory went a long way. Thus, she held that jade gaze of hers all too calmly, turning away only when she saw a finely dressed waiter asking if she'd ordered yet:
"I'll have a latte and a croissant, if you would~", replied the artist, glancing up to meet his eyes, flashing that cool, radiant smile as the man wrote it down and departed.

The woman also made note of how Kerii spoke as if she was from the area as well, and inquired about that very subject. "I'm actually from Crocus," she began, "but I moved here several years back to join the guild." The elf had joined the guild when she was only 16 years of age. Now, she was 20, going on 21 later that year, so it had been nearly 5 whole years since she began her life as a mage. It was full of endless ups and downs, with many more downsides than she would have hoped, but she wouldn't trade those years for anything.
After the stranger ordered a latte as well as a croissant, Kerii decided to prompt her with another question. "Would you happen to be mage as well," asked the healer, absentmindedly twirling a piece of her golden locks. Mages were somewhat of a rarity when looking at the overall population of Fiore, but the elf still decided to test her luck in hopes of finding common ground with the woman. If they were going to be stuck in the café for a while due to the rain, she would at least want to be talking with someone who harbored similar interests, be it magical or otherwise.

Indeed, Alisa visited quite often, for Orchidia happened to be the closest city within little more than an hour's travel away. For starters, she always made sure to be around for the yearly flower festival, a pleasure she'd experience once more this year, for the the festival was pretty much right around the corner, no later than a month from now once the whole city blossomed into a lovely shade of pink. Merely thinking about it had her sighing as she antecipated the delights to come, though meeting an interesting new acquaintance never failed to seize every bit of her attention from her contemplation, time after time:
"Oooh, a Lamia huh...? Do tell me, how's Arisa been doing?", inquired the artist, leaning slightly over the table as she crossed her arms over it, all too intrigued by where the conversation had turned to. Clearly, if Kerii had been looking for common ground, she'd most certainly found it, for Alisa spoke of the Lamia's former guildmaster as one would speak of her own family, a sister even. Sister she may call her, and yet the girl new choice of name easily slipped the sculptress' mind, tilting her head as she quickluy corrected herself, "Or rather, Káilètte, as she now calls herself."
Daiko too, though Alisa had spent enough time with him recently to have a better idea what he'd been up to. He'd always been more open than Ari, though ever since losing her memories, the latter had predictably seemed distant. That said, she most certainly never recalled a pretty blonde elf among the many Lamias she'd met this whole time; a new recruit perhaps:
"I most certainly am~", replied Alisa, gladly stepping deeper into that common ground the blonde had so boldly braved her way into, seeing no qualms with adding an extra bit of information, "From Blue Pegasus actually."

The elf asked if the young woman was a mage as well. It was a stab in the dark, but it looked like she was correct, for the ruby-eyed woman not only possessed magic, but was a part of the Blue Pegasus guild. "Really?" the healer exclaimed, her face lighting up. "I guess introductions are in order then? My name is Kerii." She held out her hand to shake. Normally, the elf would not be so forward, but they were both from light guilds. She partially felt obligated to do this since the light guilds were essentially allies, but since the two women already had a few things in common, Kerii was more comfortable in this situation than she would be in others. With the Pegasus's cool attitude, the healer believed the feeling was mutual.

Her smile widened the moment those words reached her ears, for Alisa hadn't seen her again since that fortunate time when they ran into each other around New Years even, in the aftermath of the demonic invasion that wiped out a fair percentage of the city's population. Despite the gruesome attack, the city had long rebuilt and had slowly been recovering its morale, attesting to that Northern strength in the face of advertity, a trait she very much admired. No doubt with some help from the Lamia Scale guild, one of the strongest in Fiore, the city's pride and joy. The same pride and joy Arisa had once lead:
"I'm glad to hear that... She can be quite the handful sometimes~", with a playful chuckle, Alisa rubbed her neck as she thought back to the girl she loved like her own sister, and how she'd never stop trying to care for her, "Look out for her will you~...? She needs that now more than ever."
She should have felt a certain measure of awkwardness asking such a thing of a near total stranger, but knowing she shared a guild with such close friends, Alisa opened up to this golden haired stranger far more easily than she normally might. Thankfully, she wouldn't be a stranger for much longer, and the sculptress nodded, brushing her long dark hair as took in the girl's name with interest:
"Alisa.", offering a hand, she flashed the girl her most graceful smile, "Quite a pleasure to meet you, Kerii~", though couldn't help but furrow her brow, cupping her chin as she thought of all the guild events. She'd never seen Kerii before, and she'd met quite a number of Lamia members like herself, "I take it you've only joined the guild recently...? In all the guild festivals and events, I've not once run into you before..."

The elf introduced herself as Kerii, and the young woman did so as Alisa. Following that petite formality, Alisa took notice of how the Lamia seemed to be absent from the recent guild festivities and as such believed she had only joined recently. It was a fair assumption, but an incorrect one at that. "I've actually been a Scale for about four, almost five years," she began. "I traveled around a lot though, and spent the most of the past two years in Crocus." Kerii scratched the back of her neck nervously and gave a sheepish smile. The mage felt guilty for not being there with the rest of her comrades, but family came first. Though she considered her guild to be family, there were just some things she absolutely needed to focus on. Now though, things were evening out. Events were going back under her control and she could actually focus on her duties as a mage without worry.
"I'm glad to hear you went to the events though. From what I've heard, they seemed fun!"

For all her aloof nonchalance, Alisa's faint smile brightened visibly at her words. She had the kind of face you could trust, an almost angelic grace, and not for a second did the artist doubt her willingness to look out for her guildmates. Though pleased, she hardly felt surprised about that answer, not like she did when Kerii mentione dhow long she'd been around her guild. Possibly even longer than Arisa herself:
"Oooh...? That... Might actually be longer than my time in Blue Pegasus.", noted Alisa, browing rising, wondering how she could have gone all this time meeting Lamias without ever having met the elf now sitting before her. She did seem introverted enough to possibly not enjoy the kind of parties the guilds occasionally threw and most certainly not the type to tackle the frontlines on the battlefields. Alas, appearances so often proved decieving, and she knew that all too well. Instead, she merely regaled on what tales the girl had to offer, cupping her cheek as her elbow returned to the table, "Well, Crocus is quite the wonderful city, if a bit too crowded for my preferences more often than not. I'd spend months there, once even a whole year, whenever I happened to drop my amist my travels."
She didn't seem too surprised to hear about Kerii's penchant for travelling, after all, that seemingly held true for most people bearing a mark like theirs. Part of the job description really, if one happened to dislike travelling around the country, then would have never been too good at it. That thought always came along uninvited, whenever the title "Guild Master" came to mind:
"They most certainly were~ I wholly recommend stopping by when the next one comes along~", noted Alisa, looking out the window when she thought back to how most of the latest guild reunions involved demon hordes, "Hopefully we'll have something worth celebrating once we're done with all the demons."

"I grew up in Crocus, but it wasn't exactly my favorite place either. Too crowded for my taste," she concurred, then letting Alisa continue on with the conversation. The Pegasus agreed that the festivities were fun, and mentioned that Kerii should attend one sometime. "If I have the time, sure!" replied the elf with a friendly smile. She took another sip of her drink as Alisa said that hopefully there would be something to celebrate once the demons were dealt with. The healer set down her drink and gazed into its milky contents. Her smile faltered. "Right, the demons." She let out a sigh and shook her head. Orchidia suffered far too much damage that day. It was... unexpected, to say the least. Nobody was prepared, and as a result hundreds of people were either killed or injured. That event caused her to learn stronger healing spells, but even so, she still felt as if it was not enough.
Kerii looked up at the young woman. "I assume you were there too then?" she asked. The elf supposed that news could have traveled, though she didn't know how far it would have gotten. Mages, especially of light guilds, might have been more keen on the matter though as it directly pertained to dark magic of sorts.

A graceful little giggle escaped as Kerii all too easily echoed her own views, though coming from someone born and raised in the city they felt a fair bit more impactful than the judgement of someone who seldom stayed beyond one, perhaps two years at a time.
"Hard to find some peace and quiet in a town that size; unless you're ready to stay cooped up indoors throughout your whole stay...", added Alisa, a faint look of displeasure on her face at the whole idea. One can't exactly admire the beauty in the world without ever leaving the comfort of their abode, and yet, the same could be said for meandering about while bumping into passerby's every other time, "Then I guess I'll be expecting you~"
At the same time, despite her loathing of crowds, she'd rather grown to appreciate those idyllic moments when she could surround herself with friends and loved ones, her mind soon drifting back to that wondrous beach party a few years back, the likes of which she'd yet to see again. Compared to fond memories as such, the kind she'd look back on and cherish for years to come, this hopeful demon invasion was but a bump in the road. If anything, she cursed her own powerlessness, her inability to do more for the region of her birth:
"Indeed... There were far too few of us for their sheer numbers.", sighed the sculptress, flashing the waiter a constrastingly bright smile as he came by with her coffee. Dipping the spoon into the steaming dark brew, she stirred it gently, gazing into the swirling fluid almost absently, "Knights and mages alike seem to have grown more alert, though I wonder if the same holds true for the rest of the country... I'd sure hope... Lightning won't strike twice in the same place, or so they say."
That said, Alisa had no interest in driving the conversation towards the obvious doom and gloom; the incessant rain outside, that dark and cloudy weather did that for them easily enough.

On the subject of the demonic incursion, Alisa confirmed that she was there when it happened and said that there were not enough people to combat the demons, to which the elf nodded her head in agreement. There were enough fighters to get the job done, but not without several casualties. And, Kerii didn't know how serious this was, but she and the group she was with never found out what had caused a building to turn into a pile of cards. It was probably the strangest occurrence that whole day, but nothing else like that seemed to happen at all. The Pegasus even made the analogy that lightning never struck twice in the same place, and for the most part, that seemed to be true for this incident. "Yeah, I hope, though I can't help why Orchidia was targeted like that." With her right hand, she touched the guild mark on her left shoulder. "I mean, it couldn't be because there's a light guild here, right?" It wasn't necessarily a good explanation, but it was the best she could reason. The demons could have been targeting locations with light guilds to wipe out any competition. The Lamia Scale building itself was actually attacked, but the same could not be said for Blue Pegasus, Fairy Tail, and the Rune Knights. They had been left completely untouched.

She spend rather enjoyable days in the Capital, as well as others far less so when the attack happened... In the end, she much preferred the less populated, idyllic seaside cities such as Hargeon, and even as she sipped her coffee, bringing it up to her lips and sampling the bitter beverage, she couldn't help but feel a shiver down her spine as the implications of Kerii's words sunk in. If they targeted Orchidia for that reason, then Hargeon would be either next, or the one after that... And here was Alisa, all the way up in the North. Though she didn't exactly agree with that idea, the latter notion was still unpleasant regardless:
"Hmmm...", hearing Kerii's theory, Alisa cupped her chin, glancing down into the swirling surface of her coffee, humming as her brow furrowed slightly. She'd considered this possibility before, but scarcely thought much of it before, and yet couldn't help but give it a second thought before her eyes shifted up into the girl's jade gaze, "It is perfectly possible, and yet I highly doubt it... The demons made no attempt to rush for the guild hall, or specifically target mages. They just rampaged around, butchering anyone and anything they could get claws on."
Taking a good, long sip of her coffee, feeling that bitterness wash over her tongue, she placed her cup back on, looking at Kerii and sighting actually clenching her fist at the contradiction she felt at this point, but far too upfront to merely keep it to herself:
"In a way, I'd almost hope they'd be so bold... If we knew they were specifically targetting light guilds, we could prepare for the next raid far more efficiently. Instead, we're spreading ourselves far too thin."
Indeed, the Lamia guild hall had been attacked, but not specifically. It didn't feel as though they'd been after that in particularly, merely to cause mayhem at every step of the way. Even if she doubted such a level of strategy from rampant demons, now more than ever she felt the urge to return to Hargeon.

Even though they did make a move for the guild hall, they did the same for every other place in the town. As Kerii listened to the Pegasus's explanation, she crossed her ankles and took another sip of her drink. When she was finished talking, the elf furrowed her brows and began to swirl her drink. "You're probably right, though I wish there was some rhyme or reason that we could figure out so we weren't spread out, but what can you do? They're demons." Destruction seemed to be the only thing they cared about. Or at least, that was the case for the lesser demons. As odd as it seemed, Kerii still believed there was some sort of logic among the attacks, much to complex for the grunts to understand though. Whoever, or whatever, was in charge doubtlessly had a goal; pure decimation was just too simple of a task to extract pleasure from. That only left a myriad of explanations, none of which Kerii could think of that were plausible.

It took her a while to process just how heavily the very notion would weigh down on Kerii, thinking her beloved Guild had been the cause for such a gruesome attack on their city. Thus, she could find solace in the reasonable belief that the demons hardly paid the light guilds much mind, though the days to come would inevitably shed some light on these assumptions. Whatever theories they could come up with were little more than that so long as they had only a single attack to validate their veracity:
"Demons lust for power, mayhem and destruction... Surely you can find one or two exceptions to that rule, though for the most part, you can keep that notion at heart when you fight them. They will do absolutely nothing that doesn't stand to benefit them in any way, even if just personal amusement.", noted the sculptress, her nose twitching at the vivid memories of what she'd seen upon peering into the abyss, and the carnage they'd unleashed on this hapless city. In the end, even if neither could come up with a satisfying reason, they could at least agree on the demons' unpredictability, "Who knows, maybe those Holy Knights will start pulling their weight for once. That would be a change~"
Smirking, chuckling rather cheekily, she couldn't help but think back to all the wars and attacks they'd seen in the past, where that so called Elite force who recruits the Rune Knights' finest simply settles for twiddling their thumbs while the country fights wars. Not that she bore any ill will to any individual night, she even looked to some of them as personal friends... And yet the lack of concern their organizations showed for the commonfolk never ceased to amaze her. Took a sip from her coffee, she shot a curious glance outside, noting how that ceaseless downpour seemed to be winding down at last.

Alisa tried to lighten the mood by making an offhand comment about the Holy Knights, which got a light laugh out of Kerii. She did not have anything against the faction, but for an Illumin-loving group such as them, their lack of contribution towards handling the incursion was surprising. If it hadn't been such a travesty, it would have been amusing. "Ah, yes. The 'Holy Knights.' To be honest, I saw many more Rune Knights pulling their weight that day." After speaking, the elf's expression changed from joy to reflection. She rested her chin in the palm of her hand and squinted her emerald eyes. "Come to think of it, did you notice an oddly high number of Knights before the incursion?" Kerii had personally met at least three, and saw several more walking around in uniform. When she inquired about why they were in Orchidia, they all answered with something along the lines of 'it's classified.' Frankly, the Lamia believed they didn't even know precisely why they were stationed there, though of course they wouldn't admit such. Regardless, it was a bit skeptical in her opinion, and she was wondering if the Pegasus picked up on it as well.

Indeed... Alisa merely nodded as the girl spoke, calmly sipping what remained of her coffee, putting down the empty mug and crossing her arms gracefully over the table, admiring how Kerii had no love for the Knights either... Unsurprising, for they truly were an unlovable sort. Even one of Alisa's best friends thought as much, but believed in a greater good to be sought in joining them. That said, Kerii's question did earn a raised eyebrow:
"Oddly high, hmmm~...? Well I suppose you're right on that~", chuckled the sculptress, quite clearly remembering how she could still count the number of knights with the fingers in one hand. Hardly reassuring how the number of demons spewn in from the bowels of the Abyss would have numbered one per citizen in Orchidia, if not more. Quantity as opposed to quality, but more than enough, "Up until the invasion, I'd personally met no more than two of them. I did spot the rare oddity walking around Orchidia, which makes you wonder what exactly were they up to..."
Did they have clues as to the upcoming demon invasion and kept it to themselves...? Or did they just happened to come here by chance? She found the latter highly unlikely, and wouldn't go as far as assume something as appalling as the Knights flat out knowing about the invasion and doing nothing to prevent it... But the mere idea of them suspecting it enough to show their faces, and still attempting nothing to actually prevent the first casualties:
"In the end...", sighed the sculptress, "If you want something done right, you must do it yourself... I'm not seeing these Holy Knights as doing even half a bit as much as they should."

The conversation once more shifted back towards the Holy Knights, and Alisa mentioned the old saying that 'if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself,' which couldn't be more true for this situation. She claimed that the Holy Knights hardly even did half of what they were supposed to, which again, the Wood Elf agreed with. "Absolutely, though I wonder how many people are actually in that organization." She knew it wasn't as vast as the Magic Council, but there seemed to be an air of prestige around the faction. It was glorified to be part of, especially if you were of the Illuminian religion-- which Kerii was not, as she believed in the elven deities, so the group had little influence on her in that regard-- but she had a feeling that it was somewhat exclusive. As in, you had to have certain qualities to neatly fit in and be wholly accepted, hence why it may not boast as many members as other groups, though that was hardly any excuse to start slacking off when Fiore was in need.

Alisa chuckled at those words, even if deep down this was hardly laughing matter at all. But indeed, there's not really much you can do about government or religious bureocracy, almost designed as its own intricate language to keep outsiders in and cloud any semblance of transparency. In the end, she could only sigh and shake her head:
"You know how it is with govenment agencies and information. Illumin forbid someone else get the credit for saving the city. Either they get it, or nobody else will.", in the end one could only trust indivudual people, like those few Knights with a semblance of an understanding of right and wrong, not the hierarchy who sets the rules.
That same hiherarchy who decided slavery was a good idea, to create a country woefully dependent on cheap manpower to achieve prosperity, instead of their own merit and self improvement... With Alisa's visceral distrust towards authority, these two ultimately had the same root cause. Opaque, aloof organizations standing at the top, claiming to fight for the country's best interests, expecting people to take their words at heart...
"Not enough to actually make a difference in the war to come. Perhaps at one point they might have been enough to take on the odd cultist hoping to summon Lucifer...", added the sculptress, furrowing her brow as she thought back to the one foe she fought who seemed to posess that power, a man from Grimoire Heart who she'd never seen again, [color=pink]"...But as we've seen last month, if the demons themselves attack on a large scale, they simply have neither the manpower nor the information to fight back when they might actually prove useful."
Just as Kerii held no interest in Illumin, Alisa held no interest in religion in general, finding it silly to constantly look to a good for answers and salvation instead of seeking them out yourself:
[b]"It's bad enough for them to pick out the best and brightest among the Rune Knights, into that woefully obscure organization.", leaning back, the sculptress crossed her arms, a vaguely annoyed twitch of her eyebrow betraying her thoughts on the matter. Gracefully crossing her legs, she shot a curious gaze outside, raising an eyebrow as she saw the rain slowly subsiding,"Hmmm... Seems it won't be raining cats and dogs much longer... You should join me for a walk once we get out of here~"

Alisa made a few more comments about the Holy Knights and the demons. All in all, the elf agreed with what the Pegasus said. To put it simply, it was a corrupt organization. Maybe some would consider that too radical of a statement, but others would say otherwise. The conversation drifted off from the topic though as Alisa noticed the rain was beginning to let up. Kerii glanced out the window. The mage was right. It was not pouring anymore, and the storm was beginning its transition into a drizzle. Coincidentally, just as the weather was improving, the two mages' conversation steered away from grave matters into lighter-hearted ones. In fact, Alisa even asked Kerii if she wanted to accompany her on a walk after the rain had stopped. "Sure!" the elf exclaimed. "Any areas in Orchidia you wanted to see before it started raining?" Her goal was to go to the café from the beginning, but like the majority of the people who had flocked in, she assumed that the Pegasus previously had other plans in mind.

"Summoning Lucifer indeed.", asserted Alisa, nodding as her gaze narrowed ever so slightly, yet her tone still sounding far too laid back considering the gravity of the topic. Though not necessarily making light of it, she didn't feel particularly threatened by it either, "If some humans are to walk about with demons lords sealed within them, then surely somebody had to summon them first?"
If you'd argue people only fear what they understand, then it stands to reason Alisa of all people would have little to fear from any demon. She'd studied and researched them thoroughly, many times in the heat of battle, through keen observation of her foes as she cut them down. The cases of humans who took over the souls of Demon Lords was hardly unknown to the magical community at large, but seldom would mages strive to understand that phenomenon as carefully as a hunter. Thankfully, they'd find no demons here in the near future, for Orchidia had seen enough of them to last a couple lifetimes. People would much rather see the sights and go about their lives, and naturally the two mages were no exception to that rule:
"Hmmm~...", at times like these, she seldom gave much thought to where she wanted to go, mostly Alisa settled for walking around, following her whims, going where the wind took her. She often just ended up sitting at some park, watching the people and focusing on her art. But having lost her magic, she could no longer sit around scultpting so lackadaisically, naturally meaning she'd look for other means of entertainment, "We could walk around the market and see if we can't find anything interesting~"
She didn't actually have anything specific she wanted to buy, but as she leaned back on her chair and crossed her legs the other way, a vaguely intrigued smile drawing on her glossy lips, she made it apparent the idea alone interested her enough. After all, who knows just what she might find when walking past a magical bazaar?

"I guess you're right," she begrudgingly admitted. If she was being honest with herself, it was less of disbelief and more of not wanting to believe such a thing could come to light. She wouldn't admit it though-- not out loud at least.
Shying away from the subject of demons, cults, and Lucifer, the mage asked the Pegasus if she was doing anything in particular before the rain started. She seemed to ponder on that question for a moment, alluding to the fact that she likely did not have any plans, and eventually answered with the suggestion of wandering around Orchidia's markets. Now, Kerii was not normally one to say yes to a shopping spree, but she had to admit she wanted to get to know Alisa more, and who knew? The merchants could be selling something intriguing. Even though the Lamia lived in the town, the bazaar never ceased to spring pleasant surprises. Plus, since spring was settling in, new non-wintry items would be up for grabs as well.
"Sounds good to me!" Kerii's eyes flickered to the window once more. The rain had all but come to a faint drizzle. It would only be but a few moments before it completely stopped. "I guess we should get going then," she advised, nodding her head slightly towards the outside.
