“Excuse me! Sir!” he called out, his voice holding a bit of concern.
“Hm? What is it?” Nero replied, his question somewhat curt yet his tone still showing the proper signs of respect.
“Have you come to volunteer? You seemed interested..” said the man who introduced himself as Father Jerad.
He explained briefly to Nero about the current circumstances in Magnolia. As Nero listened to his story he also took the time to explain his background to Father Jerad. In truth, Father Jerad was a new face to him, which explained why he did not recognize Nero as someone who had spent time with the church. In his defense, however, Nero didn’t exactly stay with them for an extended period of time either, so it was a quick exchange. However as he had fond memories of the people here Nero was more than happy to provide assistance, and even offered some knowledge of his own from his travels to further aid Father Jerad. Father Jerad and the followers of Kardia Cathedral were more than happy to receive his assistance. As there were a few who remembered Nero as well the process of getting to know those who he was unfamiliar with as well as interacting with his “patients” was a much easier task.
There were many people he had known in his short stay in Magnolia many years ago, and it was somewhat sad to see them in such distress. Nero did anything he could think of to not only help them get better but make them more comfortable during the ordeal. He had not expected such a simple sickness to affect so many people in such a short time. Despite all the work he had both in front and ahead of him he still took the time to try and find the root cause of the issue so that he could prevent such a situation from happening again. In truth, it wasn’t a huge surprise to find out that it was due to certain individuals with poor hygiene spreading constant viral infections among the masses. Unbeknownst to them, their poor habits were negatively affecting those around them. It was with that knowledge that Nero and the rest of the Illumin followers worked harder to not only cure but prevent the sickness from spreading further as they cared for each new patient.
It wasn’t long before they had dealt with the last person on their list that everyone was finally able to relax and unwind. In actuality, it would take some time before they could really see the fruits of their labor, but knowing that they had put in all that effort and that some people were showing good signs of improvement allowed their hearts to be at ease. Father Jerad thanked Nero profusely for all of his help in organizing the followers and helping them not only take care of the people but advance their techniques for doing so during his brief stay there. Nero could only smile as he watched the man who seemed to be of similar age to himself thank him so much for the sake of other people. It was nice to see that there were still good people like Father Jerad in Magnolia. After a short talk and relaying his promise to one day visit again, Father Jerad gave Nero some medicine as well to help prevent him from getting sick for any reason. Although he knew it wasn’t entirely necessary he still cared enough to receive the kind gesture as well as the small reward that was forced upon him for all of his work. With all said and done Nero departed looking for someplace to relax and hopefully take a decent nap for a bit.
