Unluckily for him though, he’d moved out of the inn that was just across the street from Father Jerad’s church. Upon picking up his next request, he knew that he’d have to go back to the church and walk all the way back to East Magnolia for the night. He had hoped that all this effort was actually worth it in the end. Apparently, there was a wave of sickness that had been spreading across Magnolia like wildfire. Father Jerad was seeking someone’s help in handing out a batch of medicine to those who can’t afford it.
The Rune Knights’ promotion deadline was to be anytime this coming week. There had been loads of rumors circulating around Rune Knights saying who was most likely to get promoted and who they’ve seen the captain’s scouts watching. It all meant very little to Ace. All he was really concerned about was getting his quests done as best as he could. His superiors had a keen eye for talent and he wouldn’t expect them to be naïve in their selection. That’s why the gas mage wasn’t really one to stop and listen to rumors. After all, there was a reason why those who spread gossip around stayed as pages while he made it up. If he did actually get this promotion then he was no longer going to be looked down upon. As a Seated Rune Knight, Ace would like to start making changes that benefit everyone in his community at least. That was his first step. For now though, he had to work as hard as he could to put himself in the position to make that happen.
Upon his arrival at Father Jerad’s church, the young mage witnessed a number of villagers standing outside the steps, waiting for their turn to walk in. It must’ve been a very stressful day for Father Jerad having to deal with all those patients at once. Being the fourteen year old he was, he squeezed in between those at the door and pretty much skipped the queue to get inside. “Hi father” he said as soon as he seen him walking around the church hastily. “I got your request” the gas mage added. “Ahh beautiful!” Despite the stressful state he was in, Father Jerad always seemed to have a smile on his face and be happy which Ace felt really impacted the patients positively.
