As the Master snapped his fingers, the Survivors started run to as if their lives depended on it. Which it did. It was difficult to navigate through the forest, but that didn't stop Nuala from trying to shoot down Noel with the revolver she found that day. As she squeezed the trigger, the bullet flew through Noel's head and splattered his gray matter on the trees with blood on the trees. The group reached the first checkpoint except for Requiem. She couldn't catch up and got devoured alive by the hellhounds as they tore the flesh from her bones with their sharp fangs. The others were too occupied to even notice her death. They didn't want to share the same fate as her so they quickly started to climb the mountain. The climb was steep and dangerous. Many were already tired from running and couldn't gather the strength to continue climbing, but they persevered. In the end, everyone except for Ko managed to reach the plateau. Time was of the essence at the next checkpoint. The high altitude already started to affect everyone and would continue doing so until they passed out from oxygen deprivation. Without hesitation, the Survivors attempted to open the chests that were scattered around on the plateau. Inside, they would find a mask that would make the conditions bearable. And with that, the end of the game was finally nearing. Everyone except for Ragnar managed to open their chests. Nobody bothered to look back at his body. Steadily, they all marched towards the summit. Each step hurt more than the previous one. Kurisa couldn't endure it anymore and died due to hypothermia. The others, however, continued marching on. As they reached the summit, the rising sun magically healed their wounds. There they stood. The last seven Survivors. No longer would they be divided as Hawks and Ravens. From now on, they would all compete against each other. Despite all the hardships, the view from the summit was beautiful. It was the little things in life they started to learn to appreciate here. Life was but a fleeting thing. There was no assurance of how long it would last for tomorrow was not guaranteed on this island. For a moment, they did not care about the game anymore. They were simply thankful that they were still alive. |
