Being in Marigold was a nice change of pace for Atani. It held a similar charm to Hargeon, but in a different way. As opposed to sandy beaches, it was home to vast farmland. While neither town was something Atani was used to, of the two, she had a better initial impression of Marigold. Small towns such as that one were more her speed. Furthermore, just as the small town stereotype went, the citizens there were rather friendly. They welcomed travelers like her with open arms. Much to her delight, people were more than happy to point her in the direction of an affordable inn she could momentarily stay at while she went about her business in Marigold.
After settling in, Atani did not want to delay any further. Though she did like to travel for the sake of adventure, her larger purpose was to find work. Hargeon had grown dry of that, but regardless of her additional rationale, as a light mage, she was supposed to help people outside of her guild's home town anyways.
Considering she was at a town which was not home to a guild and thus did not have as many mages present on average as someplace like Hargeon or Magnolia, plenty of people needed help. From odds and ends to defeating evildoers, Atani had her work cut out for her. As always, she decided to start out small. A man named Farmer Jim wanted someone to deal with a wolf that had gotten too close to his farm for his liking. It was a threat to his sheep, and thus, needed to be put down. Though Atani did not like killing animals, there was a time and place where it had to happen. With hunting being a part of Wood Elven traditions, she understood that.
