Considering this was an auction, and they all knew that at least a few members of some known crime families would be in attendance, Mikajia half expected to see armed guards stationed in damn near every hallway and entry to every room. However, he had only seen a small handful of guards at all, in the entire building so far, and none of them were armed. Not obviously at least. He inwardly rolled his eyes as he wandered down the hall towards the room he needed. Hell, if they were going to make it this easy for him, who was he to complain?
He saw one guard stationed outside of the room, a man of medium stature, and less than impressive features. He also didn’t really seem to be enjoying his station all that much, his eyes kept glancing down at his watch and in the short time he’d seen the man, he had already sighed twice. He was clearly bored out of his mind, and Mikajia honestly couldn’t blame the man. But this also gave him the perfect opportunity. Mikajia strolled up to the man, once he was close enough the man looked at him and asked what he was doing here. There was hardly any hint of suspicion in the man’s voice or face, he almost hated to trick the guy, because he highly doubted his superiors would be pleased with the outcome of this exchange.
Without hesitation Mikajia told the guy that he was there to relieve him. The man was so happy that he almost immediately walked away, he stopped just once to ask if this was really fine, thinking he was supposed to stay there for the entire auction. ”I mean, if you want to stay here and continue standing guard, you’re welcome to. But considering how uneventful things have been, the higher-ups have decided to do some shift changes. They can’t of course send everyone home, but they see no reason to have everyone stay at their posts the whole time. But like I said, if you really want to, I’ll be on my way then.”
”N-no, wait!” The man practically yelled as Mikajia turned to leave, ”Sorry, I was just a bit surprised. Honestly man, I would love nothing else than to leave. It’s so freakin’ boring.” He said with a deadpan stare as he massaged the back of his neck, ”Thanks, I won’t forget it.” He said finally, before quickly leaving his post. Mikajia watched him leave, and once the coast was clear he turned and entered the room.
