Possessed by a narcissistic streak his skin is unblemished with not a single curl out of place. Beautifully sharp features sit upon an angular face. Twin bronze lumps sit adrift a milky ocean contained within two narrow slits. Inviting with a mysterious allure, his eyes hold a certain charm. In between them a slender beak juts outward ending in a point. Betwixt two forever pursed lips sit the head of a bulbous pacifier. Akin to the rest of Alfric this item is also immaculately kept. Forever ensconced in the trappings of finery Alfric’s attire is simple yet refined. He wears a red scarf that hangs limply at his back. Its crimson hue a stark contrast to the robe below. Blue with black trimming the shawl splits at his legs with a crimson sash tied around Alfric’s waist. Beneath the ocean-colored gown, he dons a casual white shirt. Lastly, he wears a pair of yellow dress pants. Extra: PERSONALITY Personality: Wizened and infectiously charismatic, to an unaware populace Alfric is an empathetic figure. With a friendly smirk forever stapled to his countenance, the muddy-haired adventurer is always willing to dispense advice or lend an ear to someone’s woes. Of course, these tidbits of wisdom are never as they appear to be. His "advice" is typically wrapped in a shell of hollow platitudes and a comical demeanor. Beneath that shell lurks an ulterior motive meant to entice the hearer into doing Alfric’s bidding. Even the most seemingly trivial suggestions are but tools to motivate someone else towards helping him complete some larger objective. Tainted by demonic influence, portions of Alfric’s persona have degenerated into immaturity. Children’s toys and games fascinate him as well as elaborate colors and artistic depictions. Boredom overwhelms him quickly when forced to partake in “adult” activities. When he is denied even the simplest request, complaints follow suit, sometimes leading to violence. Thankfully, he has learned to leash these newfound quirks. His decision-making was also largely left untainted, as he still retains his devious prowess. Still, he can be seen with a toy or doll whilst snaking on a sweet of some kind. Of the few scruples, Alfric possesses loyalty would be one of them. If he deems someone worthy of his acquaintanceship, they will have found an eternal friend in the youth. This is partially due to the influence of the demon he’s become contracted with. Its infantile nature has rubbed off on him, causing Alfric to sometimes desire things a child would. One of said things would be friendship, which admittedly, is something he himself never valued much until recently. Before he could simply “buy,” friends, but recent events have caused him to want actual companionship. Casual and sarcastic are two of the most obvious impressions people get of him. Possessed of a quick wit and a great sense of humor he can make almost anyone chuckle. Alfric comes off as a rather fun guy you’d want to speak with. Even people who may find his jokes distasteful won’t be able to help but smile. Even in intense situations, he’s known to crack a joke or two before getting serious. You might even call it a defense mechanism for when he’s stressed out. This isn’t just a part of his “act” either, but a genuine part of who he is. Prone to diabolical thoughts, Alfric is a devious guy. Sinister and subtle, he isn’t a brazen villain but a methodical one. Instead of taunts and boasts, he’d rather sabotage from the shadows. He’d much rather employ the façade of a helpful and easygoing guy than an imposing adversary. After all, it’s easier to catch a fly with honey than vinegar. Even with this villainous streak, Alfric can still be a valuable ally. He knows enough to maintain the ploy unless doing otherwise benefits him. He’s also not stupid enough to challenge just anyone. A natural strategist, Alfric prefers the wait-and-see approach before acting hastily. He’d rather plan out every detail in his head, whether it comes to a meeting or even combat first. In his mind, the battle is already won when you have everything mapped out. Others may find it boring, but he’s always thought it best to wait and see what happens before jumping in. If two opponents are fighting it out, even better because that just means he can pick off the winner. In fact, he’d rather face a fragile foe than a steely champion. Cowardly, perhaps, but it’s more out of a tactical concern than anything else. He views every enemy as dangerous. No matter how powerless they may seem, anyone could be a danger; as such, he’d rather fight someone who has no chance of resisting him. Alfric possesses a very skewed and almost arbitrary “honor code.” He doesn’t go out of his way to terrorize unless it directly benefits him. Slaughter, while something he enjoys, is restricted to threats or his targets. Families are left unscathed unless they, or the situation especially aggravate him. Humble hamlets will see themselves spared, but should he be sufficiently enraged, they too will burn. Really, it isn’t a system of behavior as much as, a combination of his own laziness and whims. Child of two equally uninspiring wizards his role was destined for a similar end. He would live and fight for nothing, only to die in obscurity. At least that was the course fated for one so unremarkable as Alfric. Initially, he accepted this course as an inevitable conclusion to the life he knew. Physical activities were not beyond him, but he failed to excel at them. Information was understood with relative ease, but not innovated upon like the great thinkers of old. So, it was only natural that any reasonable person conclude he become another faceless grunt. Groomed from a young age to serve as a wizard. Existence was a mundane waltz of education, training, and slumber. Days poured into each other becoming indistinguishable from the next. A relatively monotonous existence just as destiny intended, or it would have been anyway. One dull night brought with it a fundamental change to Alfric that awoke him from this malaise. After yet another tiresome day of training the youth realized something about himself. Bored with the state he occupied within reality; the young soldier came to loath his station in life. A yearning burned in him to become something more than a nameless mage. Emboldened by his epiphany, he approached creation with a renewed vigor. If academics and fitness were not his forte, then he would try a new tactic. Alfric had always been likable and enjoyed people watching, but he never dreamed of weaponizing such traits. Even as a lad Alfric observed other’s behavior, although; he found no use for such knowledge back then. When he finally put this understanding into practice it opened an entirely new world for young Alfric. Between his charm offensive and knowledge of others, Alfric quickly made connections throughout his hometown. In fact, he found his ability to swoon and persuade to be far more effective than he’d envisioned. Finally, he stood out, but not for some great achievement on the battlefield or some impressive display of power. No, he simply knew how to get what he wanted. He took credit for accomplishments that were not his, and sabotaged rivals whenever possible. Eventually, he persuaded his way into an underground cult that worshipped demons. After hearing about their plans to summon a demon to receive its power and become a daemon he knew it had to be him. Gradually he worked his way through the ranks, backstabbing and bribing friends and allies alike. Ultimately, his treachery would be his undoing in an unexpected form. When he became worthy of becoming a daemon, he was finally able to receive power from a demon, however; the entity he bonded with was infantile. The nature of the demon left his mind warped, resulting in him being cast from the cult. He vowed to avenge himself, and left on a journey to enhance his own might. Reference: n/a. |
