Sleeping Calamity

A unique entity among the existing guilds spread across the country of Fiore. At its core is an extremely high evaluation of strength, as well as the pursuit of it. The Guild’s philosophies developed around the concept of strength, and the freedom that power provides. Unfortunately, the strength of an individual has limits that can’t be easily overcome. This point was something that The First Master, Ariael, had come to understand over the course of his life.

It was for that reason that Ariael found himself seeking out individuals who could understand him and his own goals; individuals who each had their own reason to pursue the limits of power.

For some, absolute strength was no different than absolute freedom. Fueled by a hatred for those who exercise authority over them, these individuals seek strength to prevent others from standing above them. For others, it was a means to protect that which is most important to themselves. This strong desire constantly pushes these individuals to their limit to ensure the safety of that which they intend to protect.

No matter the reason, the result was an iron will dedicated to the pursuit of strength. For people like this, they tend to find themselves rising as leaders or growing as loners. For those pursuing strength, it wouldn’t be simple to blend into society. A prime example of this was Ariael, someone who pursued strength for many years.

The Guild wasn’t intended to function for the sake of friendship, overthrowing the King, or even worshipping some imaginary god. It was intended to be a home for the strong, one where they could live freely among those that they view as peers. The common values of such individuals wouldn’t permit the standard restrictive practices of a guild, yet members continued to gather.

While the opinions of each member may differ, what unifies the guild is the pursuit of a strength that can achieve their goals. Whether it be Destruction, Freedom, or Protection; they were all achievable through the strength provided by the Guild.

~~What is Sleeping Calamity? It is a gathering of selfish people who pursue the limits of strength for the sake of their own goals. They may be the saviors of countless lives one day, and the very thing taking those lives the next. Each member finds themselves either followed by Calamity, or becoming the Calamity themselves.~~

  • The guild is fully open, allowing anyone to join without the permission of the Guild Master or Title Holders. However, Title Holders and the Guild Master have the ability to deny anyone entry that would disrupt the natural flow of the guild.

Building

Far on the outskirts of Orchidia City lies the Sleeping Calamity Guildhall. Once on a flat plain, the hall is now faced with extreme overgrowth from various types of plants, very much like Orchidia City itself. A giant gate surrounds the guildhall and the areas around it. Five large oak trees surround the inner parts of the guildhall along with various smaller oak trees scattered around the bigger ones. The guildhall could be best described as a kind of residential colosseum. Visitors and guildmates alike are welcome to watch the festivities.

Inside, near the crowns of the large oak trees are three buildings. The main building in the front is the location of the Sleeping Calamity Common Area. The Guild Master's house sits on top of the main building. On both sides of the main building are two buildings identical in appearance only a little smaller. Those buildings are wear the guild's title holders live. Two title holders are assigned to each building.

Surrounding the guildhall itself are various small houses that are used for the living space for all guild members. Each guild member has their own house, however some choose to sleep outside to enjoy the nature. In front of the smaller houses is a single wall standing tall. The wall overlooks the entrance to the guildhall and the entrance into the giant gates, thus making it the primary location to keep watch over the area.

Master

A man who seems polite and carefree is annoyed easily. Provoking others to attack him or attacking others helps distract himself from responsibility. From the distant land of Caelum, Ariael came to Fiore in search of individuals who could give him a challenge in combat. The name Mage Hunter only describes a small part of his predatoriness.

Having obtained the abilities of Angels, Demons, and Dragons, the Mage Hunter feels that he is a being that can't be looked upon or touched on the battlefield. Testing people's tolerance, Ariael wants to bring people from all beliefs together to understand them. If he can't raise his strength with his own beliefs, he'll raise someone else's.
