Just before departing to Port Astera, Jin decided to make one final stop at Herman’s office. It was largely to let him know that he was leaving as he felt somewhat indebted to the man for all the assistance he had given him, even if most of it came with a price. Slowly Jin walks through the back door, seeing Herman hard at work with some patients of his. As usual, the man worked meticulously, quickly shifting from patient to patient. Jin could not help but remember the first time he had met Herman as the man slaved over the wounds created by Tsukishima’s henchmen. This was a familiar sight but one he did not want to repeat.

Upon hearing the door, Herman already knew who was at the entrance. “Excuse me gentleman. I’ve some business to take care of. Shan’t be but a moment.” He says with a smile as he gets up to greet Jin. He waves him out of the main office and into a small room off to the side so they could speak in private. “So, I guess you’ll be heading to Astera to confront Yamashiro huh?” “I’ll be leaving shortly. I just came by to check in.” The man smiles, noting the subtle change in personality that Jin was going through. When he first met him, he seemed so cold and uncaring. His frantic search from Izumi and having to depend on others to provide him the information necessary was starting to break through that exterior.

“I appreciate it. It’s going to be quite the trip to Astera so I found a quick way for you to make a little extra money before your trip. You’ll never know when you’ll need more money.” Jin rolls his eyes but remains silent; he had already assumed Herman would have roped him into doing another job before he left. Herman, amused at the knowing silence, begins to speak. “What do you know about Minerva Phantasm?”

Jin stares at the massive tower that sat in front of him threatening to pierce the sky. The large castle belongs to the Phantasms, the ones who arguably had their hands in everything going on in Oak. The job he had to do was simple. He needed to make with the youngest of the Phantasms, Minerva, and complete a task for her. Originally, this was a favor that Herman owed her but he managed to turn this into a job for Jin to complete.

Irritated but appreciative, Jin knocks on the door and waits. The massive doors slowly groan open as a woman nearly half of Jin’s size stands at the doorway. She glances up at the behemoth in front of her as a devious smile flash across her face. “You’re perfect!” she yells as she grabs Jin’s arm and hurries him inside. The two walk down the hallways as she continues to rave of Jin’s appearance. “Herman said you’d be the right person for the job but I never expected this. You’ll be able to deal with this fool no problem.” “Just what is it that I’m doing?” Jin’s voice booms. The woman squeals in delight as she hears his voice, even more excited about the task at hand.

“I’ve a diplomatic meeting I need to attend to. I have to convince these blowhards to sign an agreement but its too much work. I was going to have Herman whip up something to convince them but then he suggested you. You could scare the hell out of them and get them to sign it no problem.” “Simple enough.” Jin replies as the two move deeper into the castle. Before long, the duo reaches a large dining hall. Minerva’s mood changes to one of irritation as she glances towards Jin. “Ugh, I don’t want to do this. Thankfully I won’t have to talk to this one for very long. Give it a few minutes then bust in and capture him. There is a chamber down the hall that you can take him to. Convince him to sign it there. Are you ready?” Taking a deep breath, Jin charges his magical energy before he lets it radiate outward as his hair and eyebrows return to their golden state. She claps in joy as she quickly moves around the behemoth and admires the view. “You can transform too? Oh, I am definitely making sure you come to the next one.”

A few minutes pass and Jin could already hear Minerva’s groans of annoyance at the meeting from outside the door. The man she spoke with was steadfast and refused to listen to any of her requests. One by one he turned down each request, sending the young woman over the edge. “I need a break.” She says as she gets up from the table and exits the room. She quickly moves towards the awaiting Jin with a scowl on her face. She hands him the agreement and throws her hands up in exasperation. “Five minutes and I’ve about had it with these morons. I’m going to take a nice hot bath. Let me know when its done?” She winks at Jin as she heads down the hall. “Time to go to work.” The behemoth replies as he places his mask around his mouth.

With a thunderous kick, Jin opens the door and startles the man inside. His eyes focused on his target; Jin quickly moves towards him. “Who the hell are you?” the man shouts. Wordlessly, Jin places his hand over the man’s face and effortlessly picks him up. The man desperately attempted to wiggle his way free but his power paled in comparison to Jin. Moving quickly, Jin enters the chamber down the hall and tosses the man down. The man quickly scurries into a corner, never removing his gaze from Jin’s imposing figure. “Stay away from me dammit.” He yells. Jin tosses the agreement in front of him as he folds his arms. “Sign the agreement and you get to walk away.” His voice booms. The man’s demeanor changes from fear to one of confidence. “Is this another one of Minerva’s games? Fuck you, I’m not signing this until our demands are met. As I told her, this is nonnegotiable.” A smile spreads from behind the mask as Jin looms closer towards the man. “Wrong choice.” He mutters. A sickening thud echoed throughout the room as Jin punches the man square in the jaw. He, for the safety of the man, held back considerably on the punch but it was enough to nearly break it. The man cries in pain as he slumps to the ground in a fetal position. “Sign it and the pain stops. Don’t and I assure you the next hit will break something.”

The man nods in understanding, quickly scurrying over to sign the agreement. As soon as it is signed, Jin picks it up and wordlessly exits the room, letting his transformed state recede as he does so. He walks down the halls of Castle Phantasm until he spots Minerva walking around in a robe. She was still drying her hair with a towel and had a much more relaxed look on her face. When she sees the approaching Jin, her eyes light up as she quickly hurries over to him.

“Is it done?” she asks expectantly. Jin hands her to the signed agreement to her squeals of delight as she hugs his forearm. “Thank God I don’t have to deal with them again. Wait right here.” She says as she runs down the hall. Ten minutes later she returns, fully dressed and with a sack of jewels in her hand. She hands the sack to Jin who takes it and nods towards her. “I may have to call on you again. Don’t be a stranger!” she says as the behemoth makes his way out of Castle Phantasm. The distractions were finally over. Now nothing stood in the way of his revenge against Yamashiro.
