Odin †

Zane had given his speech, and Odin had met with some of the other people in the guild, but there was one he still needed to talk to. There was an announcement to give to the entire group gathered, one that would shape their destinies for the foreseeable future. But, before Odin was ready to give that speech, he had to make sure a certain someone was ready.

That someone was Khalfani, as Odin approached his child in the crowd. It was time for the next stage of Eternal Nightmare's plan to move into action, and for that the Wizard Lord, as guildmaster, had to ensure everyone was on the same page, and everyone knew the plan. A gesture from the Lich would inform Khal that they were to speak privately, away from the group. Some in the guild weren't aware of this stage, some had probably guessed it by now, but it was time to put all rumours to bed and declare before them all the truth

When Odin would be joined by his child, he'd embrace them. He wasn't the best father, but he was trying to improve. During the embrace, Odin would ask them, "Today we announce our goal. Are you ready to take your place and assume all the responsibility that comes with it?"

Khalfani †
All of Eternals Nightmare's strongest members alongside some of the more underwhelming members in terms of power were all on the roof. Khalfani, with a spliff in his hand, joined his father as the Lich gestured him to come. Over the years the eighteen year had been loyal to Eternal Nightmare, loyal to Odin, but most of all loyal to the cause. They believed in it whole-heartedly. When the Black Panther joined their father the former human embraced him, Khal wrapping his arms around his father to reciprocate the same love. Then, there came the question. Was he ready? The Desiertan took a drag of the spliff, blowing it to the side as his gaze shifted to the view of the city. "I have to be. There's no other option." He said coldly before turning back to his father. The first person to ever give him anything. Sure, Odin may have not always been there physically, but he had never abandoned Khalfani. As such, the vampire would never abandon or betray him. If he needed to, he'd put his immortal life on the line. "But are you ready to bless me with such an opportunity? I mean, really. Countless of our comrades will die not only for the cause, but to have me on the throne."

Odin †

It was times like these where Odin wished he were still human. Or, at least, not stuck as an emotionless skeleton. If he had the facial muscles to showcase how he felt, then Khalfani would see a proud smile beaming from their father's face as Odin heard his heir's reply. It was true, Odin knew the journey ahead would be one of the toughest things Khalfani could ever experience. Not just gaining the respect of their guild mates and allies, but even more than that. They would have to the people of Fiore that they were the right choice for King, or whichever title they decided suited them best. Perhaps King was too outdated: a term fixed on an archaic reality that Eternal Nightmare was going to destroy, but that was just one of many decisions that they would have to deal with.

The returning question did all necessary to prove that Khalfani was ready, and that Odin had made the right decision himself. The future ruler of the country, asking if Odin was ready for what would come in the future. It prompted a chuckle from the Lich as he replied, "My decision has been made. Khalfani Morningstar, on my name and word, I will make you the ruler of Fiore. But", Odin paused for a moment to indicate the importance of his next words, "It is not simply me that you will need. Eternal Nightmare is a guild with a goal, but my members are not blind sheep following their shepherd." Odin gestured to all of them, deep in their own conversations, "They will no doubt have questions, and it won't be my place to answer them." But the announcement didn't have to happen straight away. First, they could discuss.

"Now tell me, who in the guild you have gotten close to? Tell me everything you know about them. If you are to rule, it would behove you to become good at learning about your allies." Odin flashed a sly smile, visible even through his petrified skull.

"I need three people, and you can't count me."

Khalfani †
The reality of the situation had dawned on the vampire some time ago, but having a more thorough discussion about what needed to be done just solidified the idea that Khalfani had not done enough. Admittedly, his time in Desierto as a prince had taken him away from his goals in Fiore. In fact, seeing how the monarchy worked almost discouraged him from moving towards the throne. However, now, he realized that what he had seen in Desierto was all the more reason for him to take control. For people everywhere, he would liberate them. The monarchies were corrupt and had neglected the people who made them rich. He stood for them. Not for himself. As Odin spoke, he reminded the young Morningstar that the guild members weren't just mindless sheep. They had their own goals, and so it wasn't just about what Odin thought. This was leadership after all. As far as things went though, Khalfani was definitely best suited. The panther was most dedicated to the greater good. The vampire turned to face the members of Nightmare, all partaking in their own conversations.

"I've spent most of my time alone or in Desierto, so truth be told I doubt anyone here knows me beyond beyond being your son." He began as his eyes bounced around from member to member. "As the prince of Desierto, I've come to learn that it never boils down to who you trust. It boils down to who trusts that what you're doing will provide them the resources they need for their own endeavors." With that being said, Khalfani had the three people in mind. "Venus. From what I've discovered, she has ties to Iceberg. It would be in our best interest to support each other." He took another drag from the spliff, then nodded towards Erebus.

"Erebus, because you seem to roll with him more than the others. It's that simple." And then finally, his eyes landed on Zane. "And Zane. I know a little about em too, we're cool but I trust in his power. A Demon Lord of greed if I'm not mistaken. That's an army sent from hell on our side and all he'll want in return is everything. So, I'll give him everything but the throne." He then turned to his father, putting the spliff out in his hand. Khalfani was the youngest and probably the weakest in terms of pure raw power, but battle strategy? Political strategy? That was a different story. "We need allies outside of the guild."

Odin †

Despite their being no actual blood ties between Odin and his heir, the Lich saw a lot of himself in Khalfani. Much like the Wizard Lord, they had started from very little. They hadn't been the strongest, but they had pushed ahead and become the smartest. Of course, Odin had gained the strength needed, but never by the simplest of means. His power had come from many different sources, trial and error. Perhaps he would've been stronger now if he hadn't left Lucifer; perhaps staying a human would've gained him a new level that he currently hasn't reached. But his true strength lay in everything that made him who he was. There were more ways to defeat an opponent than grains of sand on a beach. Sure, punching them a lot was one of them, but Odin was slowly mastering the other countless ways to make it happen. That was the important lesson.

Khalfani then spoke of their time abroad, in Desertio, and used that to explain why many members of Eternal Nightmare may not know them as well as they could. However, despite the reasoning, they gave apt descriptions of Venus, Erebus and Zane. Perhaps they didn't know as much about the three as Odin would have liked but, and this was the important part, everything they listed about the three was an advantage. The political ties of Venus, the raw power of Erebus and the demonic sway of Zane. They were right of course, and all the information was accurate, but it prompted a response from Odin. "Three good choices, but also the three most infamous members of the guild. You described my three founders." Odin took a moment to inspect his heir's reaction before adding, "I can see everyone in Eternal Nightmare being of great use to the goal, in ways most people can't even imagine."

Khalfani's next statement was wonderful. They were spot on once again, knowing exactly what they needed to ensure a smooth transition. A forceful takeover would never work. They need support from the other guilds, even the other countries. "Hildegard Sachsenwald, Jagarl of Bosco. Shbraqi of the Stellan armies. Kazimir Seiryu, guild master of Fairy Tail. Whether these people would take action in our name or not, they are sympathetic to our cause and, in some cases, personal friends of mine. But you are right, it is not enough. So what do you propose?"

Khalfani †
Khalfani stopped to think. What did he propose? What should he do next? He knew the answer, but he struggled to fully grasp and embrace it. Venus, Erebus, and Zane were all 3 talented infamous mages. Unlike the panther who had been keeping a low profile since he arrived in Fiore, the three just named were known as villains. All three had different abilities and all three were death bringers. Yet still, these were Odin's peers more than they were Khalfani's. To them, alongside Nuala, Khal was a youngin'. They had been in the game for far longer now.

"Still, you bring up a good point. Those three are too famous for me to just waltz around with em. In order to take the crown we'd need to rally every guild behind us and they're less likely to support our cause with people who inspire more fear than admiration."

The vampire listened to the Lich. The guild master named extremely powerful people, amazing the panther despite his expression unwavering from its natural resting bitch mode. Out of all the names Odin had named, the most surprising was Fairy Tail's guild master. With his arms folded, Khalfani thought for a moment. "Hm." He bit his lip. "I can't be in Eternal Nightmare and create alliances with the other guilds and it'd be annoyingly hard for me to rally the common-folk under our banner..." He hinted at the thought.

His father would likely piece together where his mind was leaning, but Khalfani wouldn't say it out loud- not until he was sure it was the right thing to do. The Desiertan then turned to the Wizard Lord as his mind trailed off to a different and arguably more interesting topic, "But how the fuck does the leader of Fiore's most despised guild become friends with the Leader of the country's most beloved guild?"

Odin †

The next few moments really proved to Odin how much his child had grown as a person. Khalfani was no longer thinking like a child, they were ready and prepared to make the required steps to achieve what they wanted. As much as it would be hard for the Lich, he knew that the future ruler of Fiore was right. Eteranl Nightmare was not the guild where one could become King. To achieve that, they would have to gain allies from all over Fiore, light and dark, and unite them against the monarchy. Odin already had a few ideas of people sympathetic to the goal that would be more than willing to ally with a non-dark guild pursuing that same direction. "I know you will do what's right, and what is best for Fiore. Know that you go with my blessing." It felt right to say it, even if it didn't need to be said aloud.

Then the tone shifted to something much more amusing, prompting a laugh from the Wizard Lord. "He tried to catch me once, a long time ago now., and then we were put in a position where we had to work together. This was back when I wasn't the greatest threat in the country. We worked together, and from there a mutual respect formed, even if Kazimir would admit it. He's not really allowed to after all." Of all the light guild guildmasters, Kazimir was likely the one Odin knew best and could rally.

It felt good to know that through all his mistakes, all his imperfections, Odin would always be in his corner. There was no person he was more grateful to. The Lich had given the son his blessing and with a nod Khalfani smiled warmly. So this was it huh? This the end of his journey as an official Eternal Nightmare mage. After three long, hard, yet enjoyable years he would be moving the pieces to develop his own legacy. The panther turned to look at the others on the roof. They seemed happy, or content at the very least. They weren't all bad people contrary to how the world would have them perceived. They had sacrificed their reputations because they believed it was worth it.

That was amongst the most noble of notions. Khalfani listened as the Lord Lich began to explain his relationship with Fairy Tail, giving a short background on his relationship with the guild master in particular. They had a forbidden type of dynamic. Kazmir was Juliet, Odin was romeo. A love story, perhaps. The rogue prince chuckled. "I wouldn't expect that from the guild master of Fairy Tail. So much for law-abiding." he said tilting his head. "You really have been around a long time, old man." He smirked, teasing the skeleton of discord. For a moment Khalfani remained silent, pondering on all the things he wanted to say to his father. While he wasn't the most sentimental person, he had never felt more tender than when he was with Odin.

"Hey, Dad..." he began, folding his arms as his eyes swiveled towards the skies. "Do you ever regret taking this path?" He asked coldly. "The sacrifice and the pain that has come from the decisions you made...do you wonder what life could have been if you chose something different?" he'd ask.

Odin †

Feigning shock at the mention of him being 'old', Odin chuckled really quietly, more a joke to himself than anything else. Khalfani had no way to know, they hadn't been there that day and Odin didn't talk about it much, but he had been robbed of his youth. Once a simple 24 year old, even as a Lich, he had been forced to experience one hundred years of his own life locked inside his mind. He was now older than most, but not by choice. That was one of the things he had sacrificed to get where he was. His morality, his youth and his life. Such was his conviction to see his goal reach completion, and now he was closer than ever. He could almost feel it, it was within reach finally.

"I have no regrets", Odin's voice was low, pondering, as he spoke of his past, "but my life was almost very different." He looked the the sky, remembering the days of Grimoire Heart and the world they had sought to create. Would Arthurius be proud of him, proud of what he had achieved and what he still could? Was Morrigan? "At the end of the first war between the light guilds and Grimoire Heart, after the new king was established and peace was reigning, I was in a position to become one of the Kingsguard, protector of the ruler of Fiore." He paused a moment before adding, "Perhaps, if I'd been faster at achieving this goal, he wouldn't have died and Eternal Nightmare would have never been born."

Collecting his thoughts, Odin figured it was time to conclude their meeting. The time of the announcement had come. "The world has put me on this path. It is my duty to see it through. Besides, if my life had been different, I may have never met you." Odin would leave it there, it was time to call his guild back together.
