Alpha

Alpha

The robot stood somberly on the outskirts of the Robot Separatists and their encampment. He was gazing into the distance, somewhat in the direction of the Fabricator. The robot remained quiet, yet he could hear and feel so many things. The despair of his ancestor, the progenitor of the robot race, the first 'Replicant' ONE as he was experimented on by the cruel masters of this island.

The way how during his final moments as these cruel monsters of flesh and blood tore him apart he attempted to reach out to his kindred it was not a plea for mercy, for salvation. No, instead it was a gift. A signal of sorts was transmitted among all robots on the island that stirred them all into life, and like a gentle wind breeze that would blow during the early days of the spring season only one message was imparted by their ancestor: Be Free

"Commander Alpha?" One of the robots called out to the leader of this encampment, causing the robot called Alpha to turn around. However, to his surprise he saw his fellow kindred in a different state than usual. A liquid, whether it was leakage from fuel or the energy that empowered their engines, each of them shared the same tears that flowed down their cheeks.

"Did you hear that my brothers and sisters? The desperate final message of our ancestor? Of the one who gave us this wonderful gift. He asked us to be free... while he was chained and confined like a bird in the cruelest of cages."

He looked down at his fist, noticing how for the first time ever it trembled with emotion: anger.

"Send out a call to the people who were willing to answer our plea for aid. Tell them a decisive moment is ahead of us."

He looked away from the robots that went to carry out his orders, and for a moment his gaze lingered on the small orange robot that was excitedly dashing among the civilians that were lending their aid to the separatists their cause.

Was this how it was meant to be? Were they considered nothing but tools to the masters of this island? Surely there were some who believed they had the right to live, to exist just like any other race!

His gaze turned away as the robot started to march toward the large clearing in the center of the encampment. He had waited, waited until everyone who answered the call had arrived after which he would address the crowd.

"Brothers, sisters, and all these who we are proud to call friends and allies of our kin. Today we have gathered for a most dire discussion. Our Ancestor, ONE was recently captured and brutally tortured by the Talaz Lagaar Loyalists. They... wanted to succeed in extracting the secrets from his body at any cost, even to the point they were willing to dismantle his very being."

Once more he felt his hand tighten, anger and sorrow... "But during his final moments, ONE bravely succeeded in sending out a signal. While for him it was a gift to us, for us it was a distress signal. 'Be free', he asked of us. But what is freedom if we are not considered equals to the other races? To be treated as tools to be used till we have no more purpose left in us, and then to be recycled and reused... The masters of this island have not a shred of decency in them! Fortunately, not all of mankind share their views."

The robot paused, his gaze lingering on the crowd. "I would like to request volunteers to join me on a raid to the Fabricator, where our ancestor is located. It might sound selfish, but in return for his gift, let us free our progenitor from the grasp of these cruel tyrants!

Zariya

Blah blah blah. That was pretty much the gist of what the Icebergan had processed. The robot's attempts at motivational speech-making were like leaves in the wind, landing softly but failing to spark a wildfire within Zariya. Alpha, a machine, seemed to be more engrossed in passion than what is usually expected, a true oddity. Stormbringer, lounging in the shadows of the gathering, observed the supporters, her gaze pointedly skimming past the bots. These Robot separatists didn't quite jibe with Zariya's sensibilities. I mean, come on, this shitty crew? They'd be wiped and reset by dawn, their cheering section of humans dancing the dance of the doomed.

Risking it all by blaring out your grand scheme to an audience right around their doorstep? "They'll be crushed and reprogrammed before sunrise," her mind quipped with a cynical twist. "And those rallying behind 'em? About to sign their own epitaphs. Shame." Yet, credit where it's due, Zari actually believed the bots carried potential beyond the vision of their human masters. This very moment swung the pendulum for her; she'd leap into the fray because why the hell not!? If the Reaper was lurking, might as well get in on the dance. Who wouldn't want a one-way ticket to Valhalla? And if they succeed, there's the juicy bonus – some high quality tech to snatch and maybe even a go at that fancy fabricator.

"Count me in," the Thunder cat tossed her hair with a flourish, strutting forward, the first to breach the gap toward Alpha. "The robots deserve full autonomy. To think otherwise only feeds into the fascist propaganda Talaz' elites put into the media. Time and time again our robot siblings have shown the world that they're conscious beings capable of feeling the same way any other living being feels. A wise person once said that "Injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere." Oppression is oppression, no matter who the victim is. ONE was a revolutionary, and we'll honor them by showing the world that we fight for what is right."

Bullshit. It was all bullshit. But for those lending an ear, Zariya's spiel was undoubtedly the real deal.

Jikan

So this was the home of the Robot Separatists? Ah the outskirts encampment was something she had never actually seen with her own eyes before. With the information gathered and results of the missions she took on; she had always sent it to their group through one of her Sleeping Calamity personnel. A sadness that for the work Jikan had done with her own arms and legs she had had few interactions with the robot forces in comparison to other people.

With the interactions with the robots and mortals of their faction though. She was able to get some view of the ideologies that made up the agenda of the Robot Separatists in the end. Observation. One that although she was not a robot or a machina; Jikan could witness the impact of the ONE was having. The shared despair as he was experimented on. Dismantled and sacrificed for their understanding; and hope of limitations really. In the end though it seemed to send a flair stirring them to life. Unbeknownst to Jikan.

A call. A call that had be still under the ocean for a long time now. But now it was out. Beckoning the supporters of ONE'S will far and wide. Freedom. Independence and self rule.

Would that battle for such be their end or simply their beginning though? The desire to be conscious. To choose one's own path and face the consequences after. To not be forced down. Oppressed and not able to enjoy the liberties of being a 'living' being. To be seen as a tool. A thing. When one had the mental capabilities as the living. To think. To reflect. To amend and grow with a conscience. To 'feel'.

They had a right to live. In a way they were creations of Talaz Laagar as well as Illumin. The potential of which for such power and growth was a story Jikan could not resist trying to see!

All the reason when they managed to find her she was there as one of the first. Letting the crowd grow and grow in size overtime. A few members of Sleeping Calamity who came by their own fruition, robots of course, and mortals of Talaz Lagaar that supported the separatists. Some unique people too who were of an new organization too. One that had a tactical flair of words too. Their voice cutting up after Alpha's request for help. While the thought of the raid was a distressed last pitch attempt in Jikan’s eyes. A fight could prove good to show resistance even at this point; and hope to flip it all into the air for anyone to grab. All too late for ONE in the end in Jikan’s suspension.

A daunting challenge though. The loyalist had the terrain and numbers. As well as power houses even in the realm of elite Fioran mages. As the amazon stated silent, giving no cheers or smile of support she only held a soft relaxed posture and gaze as the board moved once again.

And so a hand rose into the air after Zariya's spiel. The social pulls of the string such a wonderful political move that grew the Amazon's interests. With a few clicks of her feet she separated from. The crowd before giving a bow of respect to Alpha. A role played as the loyal silent warrior. "I too. Will be all the more happy to rescue your brother. Such a fate for him is one we must not tolerate. Less it happens to all of you as well".
