Sink or Swim in Frigid Rough Waters?[PPCS - Snowfall Boat Ride] Empty Wed Oct 02, 2024 11:25 am

After the trouble at the sand castle and ice sculpting event Ryuuji just wanted to not cause trouble and he ended up having been recruited to help cause they were one ferryman down for the boats and he was not looking to be riding in the boats himself anyways so he figured that it would be fine. He left the silver creature back in the room that he was staying in while he was down here to enjoy this event as he didn't need it to get him into anymore trouble than he had already gotten in from it. He was given a uniform and a hat to wear to show he was working as one of the staff of the day for them and their boat rides and he had been grilled to keep the boats on course and not to just do his own thing as there will be people waiting and the rides can only last so long.

Ryuuji was not so sure that he liked wearing a closed topped shirt like this but he didn't have a choice his shirt was even tucked into his pants like this was some fancy look he was going for and he boarded the boat he would be driving as he went around the water ways and such that were made for this event to see the city and other things that someone not lazy and walking would have been able to see and do without issues. He was grumbling to himself as he pulled up to the area behind some other boats that were waiting to board and he was not sure that this was a good idea but he had drawn the route on the palm of his hand so if he did get lost he had some idea of how to get back on the path to get them back to the start and them maybe not knowing he had messed up in the first place.

He was looking down as someone had boarded the boat and he pulled on his collar a little as he was not use to having a shirt on and it was like the shirt was trying to choke him for how well fitted it was to him and his body. He wondered if the person that had gotten on was going to be chatty or if they were going to just be quiet and take in the sights of the city and places that seemed to glow, either way he started the boat going forward not really paying his rider any mind.

This trip is turning into a total disaster… I bet somewhere SHE’s laughing, hm? Once more it seeming for all her loathing of her kitty eared hood that Samantha Salucci seemed perfectly happy to hide her face beneath it when she needed to, though the so often raging redhead had headed to the usually warm southern port of Hargeon for some easy work all that she had seemed to find were hard times here thus far, and as such as she shuffled toward one of the gondola for a bit of a treat she seemed to simmer like a stew from beneath the veil which hid her.
Hopefully this scenery should calm me down? I mean the worst that can happen is I fall overboard, right? Definitely ready for something of a change of pace after that disaster when lifeguarding and then the calamity which was the snow sculpting afterwards, a bulge of air seemed to shift from cheek to cheek to make them look rather chubby as our heated heroine waited for the peace of the open water to welcome her, and found no shortage of relief at the sight of a free seat that she wasted little time in hopping into it.

“I’ll take a trip around town…” Speaking so gruffly to whomever was at the helm as she did so that her words seemed barely more than a grunt, one might have seen her as rather the rude rider for both this fact and how her current state of mind certainly seemed to see her steering clear of anything approaching eye contact, and with a huff she slumped into place with the kind of drop which seemed to make her would be chariot bob up and down for a second or two before it settled.
Calling me cute though… That guy fell in love with me or something? Barely seeming to notice such facts however and instead only thinking of how what seemed to be a promising connection with one of her guildmates had seemed to be spoiled when said party had shown a keenness of interest which had upset her, ultimately our lady lead did not even know why such a concept bothered her so much than the mere fact that it did, and despite her attempts to forget such notions only found herself thinking about it more and more now…

Ryuuji seemed to have drawn the lucky straw of the bunch as it seemed this person was in a foul mood so he probably wouldn't have to worry about dealing with to much chatter from them and there horrible mood but he knows that he has to go through the whole list of things that they made him remember as he needed to be personable and not force conversations with the rider and if they are acting like they still do not wish to talk after the whole little intro thing that gave him to say then he was free to just keep the boat moving and no needing to talk. He got them onto the route that would take them around the town and then cleared his throat and started to do the thing.

"Hello I am Ryuuji and I will be your ferryman for the ride around the city if you have questions or concerns please voice them to me, there are on board snacks, if you begin to feel dizzy or nauseous allow me to know as they have also giving motion sickness bags and have given me the approval to treat your motion sickness or if you rather get off I am allow to drop you off earlier. Though if you were to slip when doing so the organizers are not to be held liable for you getting hurt or wet for exiting the boat early. We also have life jackets if you do not know how to swim."

He finally took a breath after going over that long list of things that they had give him to go over with who ever might get on the boat. He figured that only an idiot would get onto a boat if they get motion or sea sick but there are still people that don't know they are so he guessed it was just better to go over that in case cause he is pretty sure cleaning puke off a rocking boat would be a horrible time. Now he had to wait and see what the person riding the boat had to say back if they did speak back to him at all to start with. He kept fiddling with the collar of his shirt as he has no idea how people can wear shirts they are so confining and restrictive that it makes it a bit harder to breathe but he was told he was not allow to take the shirt off and had to wear it the whole time he is doing this boating thing.

Wait a sec… Our would be heroine feeling happy that the ferryman seemed to get them under way sooner rather than later as she tended to be so very impatient with these things, Samantha was found deep in thought or at least occupied by her brooding before the man spoke up, and only seemed to be roused from the idle way in which she stared aimlessly toward their scenery when she heard something familiar. Or perhaps, some things which were familiar, in fact.
“Did you just say Ryuuji…?” Not exactly super best friends with the guy she had been trying to avoid but the combination of a recognisable voice and ever more so name piquing the interest of the girl, she turned her head to glance back at the figure who commanded this waterborne chariot and found her hood obscuring her attempt, and so she tugged back on the item and was rather bowled over by who she discovered she was sharing this ride with.

“AH! IT’S YOU?!” Once more it seeming that her reaction would prove to be rather a pronounced one as those baby blues focused upon a face and figure she had been trying to forget, the sheer level of astonishment which Miss Salucci felt at seeing the boy who she had fled at the beach sent her spilling forward from the seat she had taken, and once more did the magenta minx seem to rock the boat as she fell across it onto her side, though she made sure she didn’t stay there for long.
“Freakin… Are you stalking me or something?!” Rather the redhead seeming to be struck with no small sense of paranoia at the rather overwhelming coincidence which had seemed to strike her excursion and flailing because of it, for a moment her limbs seemed akin to spaghetti as she scrambled as far away from the guildmate she had embarrassed herself with before, and then when she met with the rim of their vessel did she jab at him with some rather unkind words as well. Seemed this ride was going to get worse before it got better eh? Assuming it could…

Hearing her voice clearly Ryuuji knew that voice and she was again yelling he was wondering if she was stalking him but she beat him to accusing her of it by accusing him of it first. He had seen her fall and hit hard on the boat there and then she seemed to have gone clear to the front of the boat away from him. He kept his balance though it wasn't hard as he had, had a near perfect sense of balance as long as he has known. He sat down in the boat and he looked at her, then he spoke.

"I know you are probably going to answer this as you are a big strong girl nothing hurts you but, were you hurt right there when you just fell on your side? I know "Shut up, I am fine" is a quick reply but before you make it come out of your mouth. I need a serious answer not a tough hardened answer. I am in charge of this boat and of your safety those things come first. To answer your question about stalking you, no I am not stalking you, I was volunteered to help since I wasn't planning to do anything today, cause this event was ferryman down. I also just thought you were stalking me when you spoke but I don't peg you as the stalking kind."

He still had a hand on the steering device but the boat on the route was pretty much just going to drive itself with very little need for his input to it beside wide turns but by the marks on his hand those were a decent ways away from where they are at the moment. "If you got hurt please come closer to me and either show me where you got hurt or point to the spot at least, I know a bit of healing magic as well so I will heal you if you will let me." He figures that she is going to just not answer him on if she was hurt or not and probably stay to the other side of the boat but he needed to ask cause her health and safety even if she wasn't a guild mate was important to him as she was someone he kind of got along with though seems that they were having a rough patch in their friendship because of him making that ice thing of her though he didn't really see it as an issue as she seemed to like to show off a little but he was also not really good with these kinds of things which was something his now gone wife reminded him of every so often.

“H-Hmph. I might not have your magic rubber skin stuff, but I’m plenty tough!” The girl galled to prove his words right but ultimately seeming to protest against his request to give her aid if she needed it, while the fall had hurt Sam a bit she knew that she had taken knocks far worse than that one even when she was a kid, and therefore after touching her ribs and arm to make sure nothing hurt too badly was certain her pride was more dented than anything else.
“Besides, I wanna keep ya where I can see ya… Never know when you might be trying to nab a pic for your next masterpiece, hm?” Adding to the sentiment the idea that she would not have trusted him anyway even if she did need help, though the two had gotten off to a good start she was still rather annoyed by how he had made that ice sculpture of her even now, though perhaps moreso because of how it set her mind a racing with the implications. That and the dumb kitty ears.

“W-Why did you make that one of me, anyway? It was super embarrassing…!” As such left pouting for a moment as she realised that there was no easy way to escape their current predicament and ultimately left with nothing she might have said aside from the matter which was boring a hole in her mind, the fiery femme folded her arms over one another with a huff and opted to take the bull by the horns, and began by asking a question which had already seemed to be answered as something of a lead in for the real thing that bothered her.
“You… You fancy me or something?” That deeper meaning behind his decision something which had annoyed her that she had not had the courage and fortitude to ask about before and so doing so now, even then Miss Salucci could scarcely keep those baby blues focused upon him and knew her cheeks were burning as she broached the issue clumsily, though at least more bravely than the last time she had seen him…

Ryuuji sighed hearing her say that she was plenty tough and that was his point but it seemed that she was fine or her pride and tough attitude really wouldn't allow her to admit that she was hurt either way he was not going to argue with her over it as he was glad to hear that she felt okay enough to still be able to give him her sass and yell at him. He had seen herself checking her self and he looked away from her cause if she made a move to life her sweater or anything he didn't want her to accuse him of being a pervert or anything cause he wasn't one.

"Nab picture for my next master piece?" He looked back at her and tilted his head and he wondered what she meant. "Are you really still caught up on being made into an ice thing? I am not looking to take any pictures of you without your consent to do so." He sighed again as that had probably come out wrong or sounded wrong to the woman but he hoped that she would not take what he just said the wrong way but with the luck he has been having lately he was guessing he was about to get another ear full from her on how he is a creep or something that line, he was just going to have to deal with it if that happens. "It was just kind of a spur of the moment thing and you looked gloomy and I thought maybe you might like it, or at least be able to smile at it." His voice was honest and he hoped that she would accept that answer as it was the closet thing he really had to an answer for her.

He looked shocked at her asking him if he fancied her. "Wait is why you are acting like this cause you think I have a crush on you? There is nothing wrong with how you look or anything and you seem nice, but I am afraid I am not crushing on you Sam. I am still recovering from a lose of my last love, so my heart still needs to do some healing before I am gonna be back at that kind of thing." He looked away from her and into the water that rippled and made the reflection looking back at him look broken and contorted. "Could I ask you to please keep that to yourself?" He stood back up and got back to steering in time to get them around the bank as a new set of buildings came into view for them as they went. He wasn't sure if she would believe him or not as she barely knew him, yes she was strong and beautiful so she might not believe him when he said what he did but really he wasn't going to fight with her over it if she didn't.

“O-Oh, um… Huh.” Those baby blues seeming to widen when her guildmate revealed that the intent behind his little effort with ice was not one borne from some twisted desire for her but rather a more honest spirit to cheer her up, the fire within Samantha seemed to suddenly grow cold and sink down within her stomach, and all of a sudden her bluster did a complete one hundred and eighty and she found herself struggling to say much of anything else.

“You…? O-Oh…” Already feeling guilty enough for the fact that she had seemed to so massively misinterpret the gesture he had made and then only feeling worse when next Ryuuji revealed the fact that he was actually battling with his own matter of heartache, the walled way in which Miss Salucci lived her life as well as her general inexperience when it came to matters of relationships meant that she still struggled to find anything worthwhile to say, and so she lowered her head a little like a scolded dog for a few seconds as she tried to think of something.
“Um, I-I’m sorry to hear that then… It’s uh… Your secret is safe with me?” Ultimately only able to think of half hearted platitudes and barely even able to speak them, the moody martial artist felt very much out of her depth attempting to comfort the man on the doom he had seemed to suffer in his personal life, but at the very least confirmed that she would not go shouting such facts from the rooftop either. She preferred to keep her personal life private, and could understand others doing the same all too well.

“So, uh… Did it win? The competition thing…?” All the same feeling as if she had been quite the lead weight upon both the trip and perhaps the budding connection between the two of them and trying to make amends for that or at the very least distract her fellow fairy from the woes she had likely reminded him of, after a few more beats of trying to think of something to talk about Sam ultimately had to reach for the very topic which had burdened her so in order to continue their dialogue, and asked after the success which the man found with it with a little hesitation and weakness. Though honesty, for some reason, she felt like she might be happy if it got a prize or something. Even with how embarrassing it was? It was weird…

He saw how the woman reacted and now he feels that he shouldn't have told her that as now he sees pity in her look at him, or he feels like there is he doesn't look back at her just looking to the water ways that he is taking the boat down so she could get the tour of the town by water and he just thinks about how stupid he is and why he had to tell her anything, he could have just left her thinking that he liked her, maybe that would have made her happy even if it wasn't true. His hair swayed in the breeze that blew across the town and the water ways and he thinks he can hear another boat which means that he needed to speed up and he wondered if he really should keep doing this all day or if this one ride had killed any thing he felt to try to put up with it, though he knows he can't back down and quit as it would look bad on the guild that he half assed the job.

He heard her ask him if the ice art of her had won or not and he didn't look at her and he just spoke the honest truth. "I have no idea if it won or not you yelling at me and making a scene, I decided that it was best that I just leave so I pretty much left right after you did." His eyes don't meet hers and he is staying as far back as he can from her as she had made it clear to start with she didn't want to be closer that she had to with him so him stepping back a bit would make enough room that she might feel comfortable enough to actually sit on the bench instead of on the floor of the boat by the front of the boat were the cold water might splash up onto her hoodie and get it wet and lead to her getting a cold.

“Whaaaaaaaaaaat? You went to all that trouble and you don’t even know?” Something about the silence which she seemed to be shown by Ryuuji now seeming so stark in the light of the facts which had been revealed to her, though maybe Miss Salucci was a little guilty of showing him a note of pity ultimately as someone who had suffered herself because of a broken relationship she couldn’t just leave him to wallow, and so despite feeling a little awkward in taking charge and making such a big deal of the sculpting thing she decided it was better than to just let him be. The idea of that just made her feel sad,.

“Hmph. If I’m gonna be loaning my face to something it better be something that wins…” For that reason it seeming that our haughty heroine would go ham with the interest which she showed in the sculpture he had made and show her typical stubborn streak by not hearing a word against her interest either, the feisty fox folded one arm over the other and made something of a declaration on the subject of what now seemed to be a cooperative effort, and decided that even if it was something that made her blush she would rather it win a prize than be totally overlooked.
“Especially when you hadn’t done a half bad job of it yourself either…” Never one who felt all that comfortable when it came to matters of honest interaction and even less so in the field of encouragement and yet doing her best, though the magenta minx still felt a little mortified by the idea of there having been some monument to both herself and the questionable form of clothing she had been wearing Sam could at least acknowledge that there was a decent degree of craftmanship involved, which to she felt was something which was worth rewarding in her opinion.

“That settles it. It’s embarrassing but we should definitely check, right? So we’ve got something to celebrate when we get back to guild, right~? Show em what a lone wolf or two can do~!” As such seeming to take command of the situation or doing everything that she could do, though the blue eyed belle was left to grasp at straws a little as to how she might back up her interest in the outcome all of a sudden she guessed that a little professional rivalry with their cohorts might just be excuse enough for the pair of them to wish to prosper, especially when they had already noted how they were viewed a little bit as black sheep for their standoffish status.

“Ya reckon you can steer this thing back there so we can check the results, or whatever~?” Therefore their destination seeming clear and a little detour toward the beach rather than taking in the waters of Hargeon feeling like it was just what the doctor or whatever had ordered, the fiery fox flashed a mostly sincere grin at her comrade and then shifted her place back to where she had been sitting at the start to hopefully make it easier for him to steer and such, before drumming the railing a couple of times to encourage him onward. Wow, maybe she might prove a little better at this leadership thing than she thought, perhaps~?
