“I really do worry for her. She’d hardly left her room and a bird often needs their air.” Alvis, one of her leading Eight Pinions remarked as he was in the kitchen fixing up a meal for his mistress. Erica was working at the stove beside him, pouring a bit more seasoning in the dish and trying it out before she would turn over and answer him. “Yea, I’ve been worried sick too. Enough so, that I can barely pull up my wings higher than my waist. I just don’t know quite yet, what would bring her back to life. And it hardly helps when all her ravens keep reporting back every-darn-thing…..” Erica was very beautiful with very feminine but strong features. The worn and worried expression she bore on her face was apparent, and so was the tinge of anger. Admittedly there was a little annoyance pointed toward her Mistress’ insistence to keep so deeply connected to the events despite her gloomy disposition. Yet that was what Lumikki did as she stayed locked within her room with only the window wide open.

“—I know I am!” Erica interjected, but she would recoil just as quick when she realized how loud and sharp her tone was. “Sorry,” it almost came out as a whisper, but her sincerity was clear enough. Alvis wasn’t bothered, he fully understood her feelings. All her could mull over was how to make things a bit better. He approached his fellow Pinion and placed a hand on her shoulder. Giving it a gentle squeeze. “Maybe we should spend a bit more time with her and help pull her out.”

“Aye, we should. Eirunn!” Erica called out loudly. She paced her way to the door and kept an eye out for a small woman with pale skin and paler hair. Eventually, Eirunn would show. Her pace both tempered and graceful, but giddily impatient to arrive. She would a long black dress with pink accents, the collar was made of intricate and flora lace and her sleeves a sheer white fabric that rippled around her arms like a delicate flower. One her abdomen was an old fashioned Icebergian pattern, and atop her head she wore black veil, as she often wore them, with a headband of flowers and vibes.
”Yes miss Erica? You have called me?” Her voice was soft, almost like a hush. A bit monotone in sound but drenched in sincerity all the same. Her large pinks eyes rising to meet those of Erica as she awaited to hear the reason for her presence.
”That I did dear. Would you like to help me bake some sweets for Lady Lumikki?” Erica’s voice reverted to her usual sweetness, pushing her stress and worry to the side for the moment; while Eidunn’s eyes would blaze in excitement just to hear the invitation.
“It seems like it’s been a while since the corvid poked their beak around. I suppose you know how to scare off a bird after all….even when their flock still seems to gaze. All the well, we continue as arranged.” A man at the head of the table spoke, his voice deep and with a sense of knowing only afforded to those with age. He brought a cup of wine to his lips, savoring the sip as though it was his first while actually being half way done. His meal sat before him and he was partaking in a hardy lunch. The man he address was simply there to discuss, and so he stood by the speaker’s side patiently listening.

“Very well! Then let it begin Brother Mathis. We only have so much time left to guarantee our success.” With that, the man waved him off and Brother Mathis would comply. With a slight bow, to the Father, he’d leave the room before heading over to another. This time to discuss with the others of the plans set for the night.

In their arrogance, they did not care for the open windows around them, not the secrets that could slip from them. Despite Lumikki’s still being around close enough to listen and overhear them, they choose to continue on like nothing was the matter.
And so with that rich piece of new, amid others collected with details of their plans and practices, her birds stirred. They finally had new worth bringing back to their master. That is, if they too could even reach her.
Back in the room of the Demoness, Lumikki remained silent and curled atop her bed. Tenevi was snuggled around her, soothing her master with her presence. There was light knock on the door, followed with it being opened before Lumikki herself could muster an answer. Pushed in was a chart with the mage’s meal and dessert. In came Erica, Alvis, and Eirunn. All with a cheery smile on their face as if they were throwing a celebration.
“Up, up, up my dear. It’s time to eat.” Erica the first to come in, swiftly walked to the window while nudging Eirunn to approach Lumikki quickly. Alvis joined Eirunn, pushing the cart to the bed side and setting a table so that the Demoness could. All the while Erica subtly closed the window light so as not to draw Lumi’s attention.
