So taking his regular plain breakfast of coffee and toast he slung his prepacked backpack over his shoulders and left the inn he had been residing for the last couple of weeks. The day prior he spoke to a merchant that was going to the small town, what he was supplying he didn’t know however he was glad to know that he would have someone to act as a bodyguard as well as being free of charge unusual for someone of Kon’s strength which was only noticeable by the staff he was wielding whilst being accompanied by his companion.
Returning to where the merchant was staying he spoke to him and threw his backpack in the carriage that the merchant was using to move his goods as he wasn’t paying for his services and would have to let the mage take a bit more leeway than the regular mercs he hired. The merchant had been to the town multiple times fortunately for the mage so he would be able to just sit back and relax a bit, tying his companion to the carriage from behind he jumped on board and sat between a few of the boxes that had been stacked in the carriage.
Each time they past a town, they would stop off he would check in with his rune knight superiors meanwhile the merchant would trade his goods between others and later meet up together for a shared dinner until getting back on the road to Marigold, he wasn’t a fan of travelling particular of the time consuming nature of it and the lack of physical endurance he had.
Eventually the area became less and less familiar with the mage as such he questioned the merchant as to where a good place to stay would be. The merchant laughed and recommended a variety of locations to visit at the town, he revealed that he was born in the town before becoming a merchant. Unsurprised by the bias he took up the man’s first suggestion so that when he left the merchant to his work, kon rented out a room at a small b&b near a small farm on the outskirts of the town.
The b&b was run and owned by a nice elderly couple who just happened to be the merchants parents. “Ah the cheeky fucker.” They were happy to have him and the companion who followed him every where.
