The next morning rolled in with a heavy headache for Eva. The events of last night had taken a huge toll on her body and she felt too tired to even sit up when a knock sound came from behind her door. It was Hanase san calling her outside for she had some visitor. Eva completely ignored it, however, right to the point she heard the name Dacol. At this point, she shot up straight on the bed and pushed herself out of the bed, dragging the sheets all the way out to a messy heap on the floor. She quickly threw in her Rune Knights outfit on and ran out the door, ignoring Hanase’s confused look as she did so.

She met with Dacol at the lobby, immediately dragging him out towards the back of the hotel where she was sure that no one was going to overhear them. She asked the man to explain as he tried to adjust to the fast change in surroundings. Eva was truly worried about this now. What she had seen last night had gotten her completely interested in the subject now and she wanted to get to the bottom of it as soon as she could. As Dacol started explaining his recent findings, Eva’s eyes widened. The ball sphere that they had seen last night had apparently turned into a humanoid form now. He recounted his memories of how he had gone back to check up on the matter after taking care of everything at the hospital. He told her of how he had seen the blue light slowly take up the shape of a human and had gotten so scared that he ran away to immediately get her the next day.

Eva listened to the whole story with as clear of a mind as she could have with all the things going on with her. She rubbed at her eyes for a moment before making plans to check the thing out later that night. She wanted to keep the whole thing between the three of them as much as possible. If anything or anyone else got wind of it, she could only imagine the type of danger it might have on them. Sure, she was someone with no magic or means to defend herself now but she was still a Rune Knight and she knew what sort of duty she had towards everyone, despite it being a pain nine out of ten times. She sent him away after that, asking him to come back at night when they will make their move. Back in the hotel, Eva avoided Hanase san as much as possible as she got ready for the adventure at night. Once night slowly rolled in, Eva walked out to meet Dacol near the river and they moved in, Eva determined to get to the bottom of the whole thing. She wasn’t sure of what waited for them but she knew she would find out today. She had to. Especially if that thing knew something about her mother.

Dacol had been right. The small blue sphere that she had seen last night was now in the form of a small child except it was completely blue and glowing mysteriously. It seemed to turn to her when she approached and for some reason, Eva felt like she saw a smile on the place where its face was. “Come closer,” a clear voice rang inside her head as Eva unconsciously took a few steps closer, followed by Dacol who had walked closer to it along with her, his worried eyes fixed on her as he tried to ask her what’s happening.

Inside the back of her head, the voice rang again. It told her that it used to be a mage in the past and that it had been several years since he passed away. Eva’s face paled at the realization but she didn’t move, her own thoughts flowing back into the spirit telepathically. With whatever magic that it had left as a mortal, it had willed itself to turn into a sphere and materialize here as a semi tangible entity. Eva wanted to ask how it happened, how he passed away and what kind of magic it hand. But it seemed to have a mind of its own as it only told her what it wanted her to know. Dacol busied himself by writing down whatever information Eva relayed to him.


The spirit suddenly left her in confusion as it asked for two things from her. One, it wanted Eva to prevent some possible danger that could happen in the future and two, it wanted her to find someone very dear to it that it wanted to see now. Apparently it had lost this person a long time ago and wanted to find them. Eva relayed this back to Dacol as well, still transfixed by the energy the spirit gave out.

Finally, as Eva tried to ask him for more information, the spirit suddenly bid her goodbye, telling her that it would like to meet her one day later for it believed that she would be needing one whole day to get back on her feet. Eva didn’t understand why it said that but just as the spirit pulled back, just as the mysterious warmth left her body, Eva felt like a huge headache crashing down on her heavily. As she almost fell back on her behind, she felt two hands support her, his hands shaking as he saw the figure disappear too.

“We have to contact inspector Nilan,” Decol’s worried voice came from behind Eva but she wasn’t listening at all, her head and body feeling as if it had been completely zapped out of all energy. Eva, however, will pull herself together and ask Dacol to lead her to this inspector, deciding to take care of this matter before she went back to get some rest. As it had warned, she decided that she would definitely take adequate amount of rest before getting back to it. Possibly, that encounter will be alright.
