The day was still young as the sun rose from behind the mountains that decorated the farmlands. It was a peaceful location if you could say that, even with the windmills that decorated the plains, along side the farm houses which was spaced from each other. Each house having its own huge portion of land, the few animals that was present didn’t make much noise as it was still early morning. One of the hills that was in the area was occupied, by a woman no less. Kanya, a woman who was raised on the countryside of Fiore and now traveling from town to town just to find a purpose. She was sat on the hill with her back arched backwards and her right leg stretched out in front of her, as her left leg was bent at the knee. Her arms on each side of her, as her hands was behind her on each side. Those scarlet red eyes looking towards the sky, Even as she admired how beautiful the place looked. All it did deep down was remind her of her past, as her eyes closed and her thoughts wondering.”Shizuma…..” she murmurs to herself as she sat there. Her mind trailing off to the past on the beginning of how she first met the woman who saved her life.
“Stay away from my children, you spawn of satan” yelled one of the woman that even spat on the little girl that was in front of her. The little girl couldn’t be no older than eight years old, scuff marks of dirt and bruises covered her body. It was like she was beaten up every single day just for being alive. That little hand reaching up to wipe the spit that had landed on her forehead off, this was a everyday treatment for her. Even those eyes that seemed so dead had little to no life in them. There Kanya stood in the center of a village that particularly raised her, now they all treated her like she was a demon….with no remorse. It was bad enough that she hardly spoke, fear of being judged even more over took the child. Everyday she walked the streets of the small village savaging for food, even if it was moldy old beard. It was something for her to eat and survive. She didn’t even have shoes to cover her feet when winter struck, ever since her parents left her here….her life been nothing but hell.
As Kanya entered the alley which was her home, there was a small cardboard box built in the shape of a small home. Kanya had two pieces of molded bread in her small arms, To think a eight year old was use to this. But sadly even this life left young Kanya scarred, her mind was slightly gone. “Mommy ...Daddy I’m home!” she smiled cheerful unknowing to her the images that was portrayed before her was just her imagination.”Mommy...Daddy you would never be mean to me right?” the young girl asked as she took a piece of the molded bread bringing it to her lips and taking a bite. Her teeth biting into the hard laven bread, pulling it till it tear with her teeth as the images of her mother and father standing before her was in her sights.”As long as i got Mommy and Daddy i’m happy, can we play tomorrow? No one plays with me anymore” her mouthful of that moldy bread as she chewed it slightly.
Her small hand reaching forward with the extra bread in her grip “Mommy and Daddy should eat ...too if you going to play with me, Mommy always said i had to eat to be a big girl...Mommy always said i had too….so why wont Mommy and Daddy eat?” she was curious, but how could a young girl understand that...her parents weren’t there and this was just her mind playing tricks on her. She continued to sit on that cold ground, her knees at her chest as this was the only way she could be warm. Those lifeless red eyes staring at the bread that was in the grip of her hand, as she placed the extra one on the ground for her parents to eat. The night was still young as the sound of footsteps could be heard through the alleyway. It didn’t take long for the eight year old girl to be found. Then being surrounded by about three boys older than her, her mind not even allowing her to notice them...she was lost.
“Look what we got here, the girl who can't even accept reality…….no reason your parents abandoned you, they were Rune Knights after all..we know a child of knights is scum in this village, so why do you stay?”
The one talking actually being the leader of the group, as he noticed she wasn’t even paying attention to him. He kicked her hand causing Kanya to drop the bread she was eating, her hand would reach for the bread as she would find herself kicked right into the stomach, a scream leaving her mouth as it didn’t stop there. Kick after kick landing against her torso as the four boys trampled her with this constant abuse the scream of her pain echoing through the alley.
“Mommy……...Daddy…….Help….M…”before she could finish her eyes would slowly begin to close as she was passing out from the pain. It was then she saw a shadow at the edge of the alley before completely passing out. Moments later her eyes would open, blood covering the alley walls. It didn’t even phase the emotionless girl. She sat up as she came face to face with the woman who saved her, even so much as their eyes would meet. Shizuma hand would reach as she was knelt down, cupping the little girl chin and smiling that mischievous smile of hers.
“My my child, you lost so much…..yet you are surviving, why don’t you come with me? You’re a survivor….but only surviving isn’t enough, you must become stronger. So would you like to become stronger child?”
It was then the sound of footsteps could be heard, that sound alone awakening Kanya from thinking about the past. The sun was high in the sky over the Baska Farmland, Kanya was raised in the country all this did was remind her of that time. But right now that wasn’t her concern as her head would turn to the side as to take note of a new arrival…..she will fight if she needed to, because she was stronger than she was then.
