His room was bare, nothing but the light walls that were paper thin. There was a small bath, 6 feet in diameter maybe. Pyre stripped and slipped into the tub. Off to the side there was a tray with a bunch of different sents. Pyre read over a few and selected the lavender sent. Popping the cap off the room was awash with the cleansing smell of lavender. He dripped a few drops in the bath and popped the cap back on the bottle. He relaxed back into the bath and closed his eyes. He let his thoughts flow carefully, he didn't want to release a stream of stress into his mind just as he started his bath.
He hadn't been contacted by a member of the Aurelle family in a long time, that was troubling, especially in his world. Not being contacted meant that you might have been excommunicated. Yes, Pyre operated mostly by himself, but he heard from members of his family on a almost a monthly basis, and he hadn't heard from another member of his family in almost two. Typically three was when one really knew if they had been exiled from his family. He remembered an Uncle of his, Jayum. Jayum had committed political suicide when he proposed an extremist idea at a family meeting. The head of the table, Elder Qoura, called for Jayum to be investigated by the family to see if he was a threat of their exposure. Pyre had been part of the investigation committee, he had even been the deciding voice to excommunicate Jayum. A few weeks later Jayum was murdered by a Baurai operative. But Jayum had been weak, he had pressed his political position too much, and it backfired. Pyre was careful, but if he was pressed, he would show them that family is just as dangerous as the enemy.
Pyre's family wasn't that close, they were dedicated to the same cause, but many of them were just aiming for a different goal, and the Aurelle-Baurai war just helped them reach those secret places. Some people left the family willingly, like one of Pyre's ancestors, his name had been Hallow. Hallow reached way into the nitty gritty of fiore and by the time the rest of the family realized that he had dug himself a new hole to live in, he was too deep for anyone to find him. No one even knows of any of his descendants.
Pyre relaxed a bit, it was likely that they had just been extremely busy and had no need of him at the moment, he liekly wouldn't need to storm the Aurelle castle, would he?
