It's good to be me, Yumi couldn't help but think to herself as she sat atop a large boulder overlooking one of the Seighart mountains many passes. Yumi had come to the mountain area and completed three tasks to deal with some werewolves and earned herself some pretty coin. Afterwards, she killed an entire camp of werewolves, burning them down to ash before killing her client and wiping out his entire village for fun. It wasn't the first time Yumi had killed one of her clients, often it was when they said something wrong. She had once, before becoming a demon, while she was still an old woman, turned someone's head into a paste with her bare hands when they called her old. YUmi had hated being reminded about the old carcass she had become with age, while she was still human. It was only thanks to the benevolence of her demonic god Malum and years of service to him Yumi had been able to become a daemon.

At the moment, Yumi was eager to spill even more blood, all to empower her great God. The reason she was overlooking this particular pass was, word had gotten to Yumi that soldiers, Rune Knights, from the magic council would be passing through the area heading towards the Worth Woodsea to deal with a recent rise in demons. A large platoon of at least one hundred rune knights would be marching through this area as reinforcements for their brothers fighting off the demon horde. However, Yumi planned to make sure none of them made it to their companions, she would slaughter them all mercilessly. Yumi had the power to do it with her new magic, Napalm Magic. With her massive area of effect spells, Yumi could douse the pathway in flames. She could cast two spells making them move to cut off any escape. If needed, the demon could retreat into her own flames as she was immune to them and wouldn't be burned by them. The pathway was narrow normally but would open up into a large area that the hundred rune knights could easily fit in. While Yumi couldn't engulf the entire area in flames, yet, she could cut off their retreat.

Smirking at the thought, Yumi stood up. She was waiting patiently for these fools to arrive at their doom. Once they did she would transform, use her fear to take them by surprise, block off their retreat and land in front of them while casting a second spell to try a cull them. But Yumi wasn't scared of Rune KNight's it wasn't the first time she had killed the warriors of the magical council. Yumi had once been so brazen as to attack the rune knight headquarters on her own, long before joining with the abyss. Besides she had heard that these Rune Knight's were only between C and B rank, they weren't veterans and this would be their first battle with demonkind.

The sounds of heavy armour marching soon reached Yumi's ears. Turning to the source in the distance she could see one hundred rune knights marking through the pass in tight formations. They could only march five by five and that was shoulder to shoulder within the narrow gap. They were squeezed in tight but it didn't stop them as they marched through the mountains in heavy armour wielding long spears. They were prepared for battle and nothing would stop them from reaching their destination and lending a hand to their brothers and sisters against the demon horde. There were many young recruits who were eager to kill their first demon and bathe in the blood of the beasts. Each was prepared for war, but sadly they would not make it.

As the knights spilled into the large clearing and were given some wriggle room, Yumi attacked. Jumping down from the boulder, bat wings sprouted out from her back. Each wing was two meters long and black in colour that seemed to absorb the surrounding light. Two horns grew from the sides of her head and each was thirty centimetres long. A two meter long black tail with a spear tip sprouted from her tail bone and lashed out at the surrounding air. Yumi descended from above a vicious smile on her lips. The aura of fear erupted combined with her overwhelming killer intent and blood lust. The pressure slammed down onto the knights making them shake and shiver, this was the first time they experienced a daemons fear, and it was from a high ranking daemon at that.

"Funeral Flame: Burning Ash!" A large magical circle formed in mid-air beneath Yumi as she fell. An ocean of crimson flames poured out away from her that headed towards the back of the unit. The flames consumed an eight-meter wide area and slammed into the exit. Fire spewed everywhere washing over the knights who were unable to escape it in time. Anguishing screams filled the air as flames melted metal into flesh and burned away at the skin. The metal armour worn by the knights became superheated as it started to melt. The knights tried to throw away their armour once caught in the flames, but it was too late. The metal had already fused to flesh and as it was torn off, the flesh was taken with it.

"DAEMON!" A knight shouted. The knight commander quickly took action and called for a defensive formation. The remaining knights moved away from the burning flames and quickly got into formation, pressing backs to each other and raising their shields. Spears went up poking through the shield wall.

Yumi snorted and landed on the ground to the only other exit out of the pass, blocking off any escape. The demoness drew her giant battleaxe with a vicious smirk. They thought they could escape her wrath, what foolish mortals they were. Eyes burned red as the flames behind the knights suddenly moved. Gasps echoed out as the moving flames rushed towards them and slammed into their southern defence. The crimson flames showed no mercy as they slammed into metal shields and melted away at them. The piping hot flames seeped in between the cracks to engulf the Knight's beneath the wall of shields.

Laughing maliciously a sinister smirk formed on YUmi's lips. A crazed look appeared in those red hues as they bled into black. A black-light radiated from Yumi as she launched forward towards the shield formation. The giant battleaxe in her hands crashed into a tower shield and caused it to bend from the impact. The knight holding the shield lost all feeling in his hands and dropped the weapon. Yumi reached out grabbing the man by his face and drove him into the ground. The force of the blow turned his head into paste crushing skull and helmet. Laughing, Yumi entered the broken line swinging her giant battleaxe into the next knight slamming the blades into his body. Blood sprayed through the air covering the demoness as she split him at the waist.

"Burning Heavens: Scorched Earth!" Yumi chained her attack as a magical circle formed at her feet. It was time to use her strongest fire. With a man-sized hole in the formation, Yumi's flames now had a better location to enter through to claim more lives. Crimson flames exploded consuming Yumi and the knights that surrounded her. The flames poured in from under the knight formation consuming a large number of them. The knight commander called for a tactical retreat. The knights quickly broke formation and followed his commands as he issued them. They splintered into smaller groups and backed away from the flames while trying to surround the lolita.

Yumi shot forward, wings expanding as she flew out from the crimson flames that were busy devouring ten rune knights, turning them into ash. Yumi was heading straight for the rune knight commander, a tall stocky individual. Flying towards him, Yumi was blocked off by two rune knights with longswords and shields. The armour plating showed they were women based on the design and the curves in their bodies. Snorting Yumi attacked them without mercy. The giant battleaxe flew through the air like a shadow of death as it smashed into the first woman's shield. The shield was sliced in two as the axe struck armour and launched the woman backwards, a deep gash in her side.

The second charged and lunged forward thrusting the longsword towards Yumi's chest. Snorting Yumi changed the trajectory of her axe within moments. The axe flew through the air and struck the longsword on the tip of its blade. The force shattered the sword as it is broken into fragments. The force of the blow sent the fragments flying into the woman's armour-piercing through it making her scream. Kicking off Yumi pounced and swung her axe downwards. A loud tearing sound was heard as the axe split the woman from head to toe.

Yumi bounded after the Commander who sneered and drew his longsword. Four rune knights with long spears charged past the commander in an attempt to slow Yumi down and potentially pin her down. A loud roar came from behind Yumi, as the crimson flames of her scorched earth caught up and flew by. Yumi was engulfed by the flames as they smashed into the four rune knights. The knights gritted through the pain and continued after Yumi. But before they reached her the flames of the burning ash spell soon joined its brother. The two spells became one as they burned at the flesh of the knights turning them into charred corpses.

Yumi said a prayer in her mind, offering up these unfortunate souls to her demonic lord. The symbol of malum glowed on her back as the visage of her great god appeared. The visage of Malum brought fear into all who saw it. Without hesitation, Yumi leapt through the flames, they could not harm her and went straight for the commander. As she attacked, Yumi manipulated the flames to splinter off and block the exits once more to stop the other knights from escaping and reporting the incident.

Rushing out, Yumi attacked the commander swinging her giant axe towards his neck. The commander sneered under his helm and raised his shield. The sound of metal hitting metal rang out as the two foes collided with one another. This shield was a lot sturdier than the others and only received a scratch mark for its troubles. Yumi smirked and struck out again, her axe transforming into a shadow of death as she lashed out multiple times. The axe transformed into a windmill of death as it bashed against the shield multiple times slowly carving away at it. The commander grunted as he was forced on the defensive. Digging in he sacrificed his shield letting it be destroyed and struck with his long sword.

The longsword cut through the air meeting the axes blow head-on. Unlike the last sword that shattered from the impact, this sword was holding its own. Sparks flew as the two fought against the other. Yumi laughed, she was having fun! The longsword passed through the axe and slashed across her cheek leaving a light scratch. Licking the blood Yumi laughed and got serious. The strength fo her axe grew as she started pressing harder.

A vicious smirk formed on Yumi's lips as she stopped down hard on the ground. A magical circle formed beneath both her and the commander as a pillar of crimson flames erupted. It was only a C rank spell but it would be enough to break the man's focus and make an opening. The commander stumbled as he was engulfed by the crimson flames. He was sweat profusely as the flames heated up his armour. His sword fell briefly leaving a gap. Yumi struck out, slamming her left fist into the man's chest plate. The plate dented in and he was thrown to the ground. The axe descended and blood was spilt as his head was severed. With the commander down, Yumi turned towards the rest of the knights and pounced.

Yumi's three fire spells gathered and attacked without a shred of mercy. Yumi bounded after those who tried to flee using her flames to take out large groups of knights or to stall them in time for her to finish them off. Yumi transformed into the grim reaper, her axe cut through each warrior filling the clearing with bodies. Within minutes Yumi had made short work off everyone leaving all but one alive. Yumi left him alive she he could report back to the council about what had happened here and who had done it. Yumi freely told the last knight who she was before flapping her wings and leaving.
