Kaiser’s definition of a break was probably wrong. She literally took one day off. ONE, before she was back on her shit. Maybe she was just mad. And that was not even an assumption at this point. She had done some really questionable things in the recent past that a sane person would probably never have done, like killing someone for a cigarette. But there were definitely worse people than herself. For today, her task was to collect a few illegal items for a scientist to use in his experiment. She had done something like this before but not for money. She took something else as payment, but this time she was doing it for cash. She got coffee and burned through a few cigarettes to kick start the day and then was off to the outskirts to begin her collecting. Most of the items that she was supposed to get could easily be found in the black market, which she did plan to visit later on in the day. However, there were a few items that she needed to pick up on her own first. Pretty much everything on the list was questionable shit, but none of them were unacquirable for her. She had written down the items on a piece of paper and listed them in the order of which one she would get first. The items she needed to pay the black market a visit for were written at the bottom since those would be the last items she went to get. Besides, she had some connections in the black market so those were the easy ones. With a satchel filled with the things she needed for today’s job, the vampire set out to find a carriage that would take her to the outskirts of this city.

Kaiser was pretty satisfied with the fact that she was being paid way too much for a job that was fairly simple and easy to accomplish. The client either was stupid or he had a lot of money to spend for things like this. As a female, she knew that women had more to spend on than men. For example, when she was a human she remembered having spent so much on skincare products sometimes that she would have to eat instant noodles for the last week of the month or something. When she became a vampire, none of the human skin failures like acne, blackheads and things like that happened to her anymore. It was one of the things she just could not stop being thankful for after turning into a vampire. Since she used to live in Joya in her early teenage years, it was even worse. The Joyan girls were super sensitive about their skin and had several steps to their skincare routine, day and night. There was always at least five products involved in the process—first the double cleansing which was an oil based cleanser followed by a cleansing foam, and sometimes the exfoliator, then an essence, after which you put on a face mask (this was not done everyday) for like fifteen minutes and then you go ahead and apply the serum which varied depending on if you were doing this in daytime or nighttime, which is then followed by a moisturizer or a sleeping mask (for nighttime use). Do you see how complicated women’s daily lives were? And that was just for the face. Now let me tell you about the body. This is going to take another three hundred words so bear with me because I can do this all day (and night).

So this was Kaiser’s daily routine because, you know, she showered every single day. In the shower, she would bathe in really hot water to open up her pores and then scrub out all the dirt in them pores, also scrubbing away all the dead skin cells off her skin to get rid of the dull skin and get that bright complexion. Even though as a half Joyan she was already pretty fair, it was pretty weird how all the Joyan girls were so obsessed with getting fairer skin. It was unbelievable. Right after the shower, she would begin by applying a whitening lotion all over her body but mainly her four limbs and areas of her skin that were exposed most of the time. For her face, there was a separate whitening serum of course. You do not mix body and face lotions. Then she would massage in the lotion to make sure it really gets in there, you know. This also made your skin softer for some reason which motivated her even more to keep up the practice. So after that, it was time for the hair. She would spray on a hair product to reduce frizziness after drying her hair with a towel, and then proceed to dry it with a hairdryer. Once that was done, she would apply a hair coat to keep her hair nice and shiny and smelling good throughout the day (or night, depending on when she washed her hair). Normally she would pay the salon a visit to give her hair a treatment, which added to one of the many expenses related to beauty. So from the skin care products to the hair care products, you can tell how much money she used for all these things. Big hole in her wallet.

After turning into a vampire, Kaiser was able to cut down on her spendings on all of these things, but she just could not stop using some of them simply because the routine stuck and she loved them so much. Her hair care products stuck for sure because after becoming an undead creature, her hair was kind of dry all the time, so she needed to give it some life by using some hair care products. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. So it was clear to Kaiser that her client was a male according to his writing and everything, and so he probably had less things to spend on, meaning he had more money to spend on things like getting resources for test experiments. Finding a carriage was the easy part, directing it to where she wanted to go, not so much. Since she did not want to bring a public vehicle to the place she was going to get the stuff, she had to think of a place where she would ask the carriage driver to stop. It had to be close enough for her not to have to walk such a long way, but also far enough from the actual location so that he could not guess her business in these parts. Soon she got one of those fast carriages because she did not want to waste most of the morning on a slow ass carriage. Believe me, she had experienced some slow ass carriage driving. One time she made the driver stop and just walked because she was not blessed with the gift of patience. The carriage she got now was pretty decent. The inside didn’t smell like horse shit and it was one of those that the noble girls used so it was decorated.
