When she made that connection, Nuala seemed reluctant to let him go. There were many things she wanted to ask, but all of her questions would have to wait. He made another joke, and she gave him a smile and a nod in return. “Likewise, Kenzo.” Her plans had been foiled, but she no longer wasted any thoughts on the money she had lost tonight, because the person she had met had been worth the travel regardless. Nuala didn’t know many members of Advent World, but the guild seemed to be filled with promising and capable warriors–a fact she would have to report to Kaiser regardless of whether she wanted to or not.
“Safe travels, landstrider.” Nuala pushed herself off the wall, but kept her eyes on the human who was slowly walking away. The Voidling intended on staying in Port Astera for a little longer; she had unfinished business here and enjoyed time away from home. Dahlia was as gruesome as it was captivating, but the woman could do without the everlasting gloom of death, disorder and chaos for just a little longer. She wanted to wait until Kenzo was out of sight before leaving herself, but was caught off guard as he stopped and turned around one last time.
Her cheeks flushed with colour at his suggestion, and she prayed he couldn’t see her reaction in the dark of the night. Nuala merely shook her head in response and waved her hand dismissively. “I don’t know if you could even handle that,” she said and laughed it off–and even though every word was spoken with confidence, the woman had to admit that perhaps she was the one who worried about whether she could handle spending so much time with him.
Once he disappeared from her sight, Nuala turned on her heel and returned to the hotel she had been staying at, which was inconveniently close to the place where everything had gone down. Nuala was able to sneak by a larger crowd of people without much effort and swiftly escaped into the safety of her chambers.
