Kaz had gone out previously but being on the coast proved to have some unique challenges. Once again a request came across his desk for help with a creature out at sea and the declining fish population.

The wind mage made his way back down to the docks for an investigation of what was going on. The sun was high in the sky. The cobblestoned streets were alive with foot traffic. The economy of the port was as bustling as ever. Merchants lined the streets with all manner of wares for sale and the locals took part in it more avidly than before. The guild's presence had brought a sense of peace to the area and their constant battle to save the fish population let the fisherman increase their boon.

He left the merchant quarter behind and arrived at the docks. Men slung large bass onto tables and cleavers slammed down onto wooden tables. Fish heads rolled off into buckets. Tuna and salmon were diced to bits and packaged. People on bicycles loaded up the fish packages and rode off towards the restaurants to make the delivery.

The smell of the sea permeated the air and buildings. Stalls peppered the shore with men selling both ice cream on one side and fillet fish on the other. A strange combination but the locals seemed to love the choice between them. Although the high-quality cuts were still hoarded by the eateries.

Kaz waved at a few citizens, walking by on his way down. Waiting for him at the usual dock was a man with waterproof boots almost up to his knees. He had a jacket with a dozen pockets, decorated with fishing lures and hooks to be used throughout the day. His arms were exposed to the sun and he had a noticeable tan on his forearms. A floppy hat covered his face, shielding it from the sunlight.

Water dripped from the ends of the man's pants and formed small puddles around his feet. He stood searching the area until his eyes fell on Kaz. He waved his hand excitedly in the air and briskly walked over to the wind mage.

"Sir it has been some time. It's good to see you again. Bad news though, is we got another problem out at sea. Something scaring away the fish again," the man reported. Kaz peered over at the sea. Contemplating what was going on in this area, and worried that it was part of something much bigger than this. Something that was causing all these attacks to happen.

"Don't worry. I'll take care of it and start sending out more coast guard patrols with the locals,"
Kaz replied with a pat on the man's shoulder, to let him know things would be okay. "Can you tell me anything about what it may be?" he asked hoping to get any information he could on the beast that was awaiting him.

The fisherman shook his head, holding it low and looking at the ground, "Got no earthly idea. Sorry." The man spoke in dismay with a small huff. "Don't worry about it. I'll be fine."Kaz replied as he stepped away and headed toward the docks. A tingle caused the hair on his neck to stand. He stopped where he was and peeked over his shoulder. It was a strange presence. Something looming from the dark, casting a heavy aura on him.

The wind blew across his face and swirled erratically at the edges of the streets. His eyes narrowed and without thinking he made fists. His heart skipped a beat and warmth rushed to his ears. But the moment faded away. There was no one around but the people at the docks. And yet....an eerie feeling clung to him

Shaking it off he made his way to a small sailing vessel.

The boat was of a smaller size than the typical warship they used. It was a gift from the sailors from working together and constantly facing threats for them. The boat was a small fishing vessel, outfitted with a harpoon on each side. It was roughly twenty-feet long and made of solid quality wood. He grabbed the mahogany handrails and pulled himself aboard. A group of trainees and a squad leader were already aboard and prepping the ship for the day's patrol.

"Men, I need you to sail me out to the coves once more. We are on a mission now,"Kaz said and the men jumped to attention and lowered the sail. Another pulled up the anchor and the squad leader took the helm. "Ready Captain," Kazimir replied by pointing to their destination and the boat bobbed in the water before lurching forward. The ship's smaller size made it much faster than the bigger warships they used. The boat chugged along at a brisk pace, cutting through the water. Kaz grabbed the rails as it took off to keep his balance and once they were at a steady pace he moved to the front of the vessel.

There was a walkway that jutted out from the bow, used for fishing and he walked it to stand at the end and leaned on the railing with his eyes focused ahead of them. The squad leader kept true until Kaz would gesture for them to make a turn.

They moved closer towards the coves and fish still leaped and bounded from the waters. The crew joked about being able to do some fishing now that they were already here. Kaz smiled thinking about if Shimura would have scolded them for such a joke. "Captain, something on the starboard side," the squad leader called out.

Kaz leaned himself to face that direction and caught the sight of a crimson coat, covering the top of the water.

The wind mage's lips thinned and he bit the inside of his cheek. His brows arched downward and his hands tightened their grip around the railings. Inside the pool of blood was a dolphin's carcass. He didn't know yet, what it could be. The pattern wasn't the same as the Kraken's or the villainous creature that attacked the merfolk before. He put his hand out and caused a burst of wind to splash the water underneath the dolphin and caused it to roll over.

The body rotated on the surface of the scarlet water. The blood spindled outward like tendrils into the rest of the sea. The dolphin's body rolled all the way over to reveal a large bite mark taken out of its body. He squinted his eyes to get a closer look. The dolphin's body dipped into the water and a black hue branched out into the bloody water like whispy veins.

From the bite wound, a tendril of darkness radiated out into the air. Like a snake made of shadow lifting its body into the air. The shadowy arms rose up and vanished one after another until the darkness was all evaporated, like black steam. Kaz took a deep concerning breath and crossed his arms.
"CAPTAIN," one of the crew members yelled! Kaz snapped his attention back to him. A dark mass was coming toward the other side of the boat. Its true form was hidden beneath the surface of the water. It was large and swam forward with what could only be a fin swaying back and forth, propelling its massive body. The shadow was nearly as long as the boat. It popped up only long enough to see the fin on its back breach the surface. It was dark with tendrils of shadow radiating from it.

Kaz readied his hand to cast a spell as the beast suddenly darted forward beneath the boat. The back of the best bumped the bottom of the but giving it a shake. The crew grabbed whatever was around them to brace onto.

Kaz ran down the thin walkway to the deck of the ship. He made it to the starboard side just in time to see the menace reveal itself. The tail of the beast was still visible on the other side as its head appeared on the starboard side. It was clear now what it was...a shark. The shark reared its head back. Its black lifeless eyes examining its prey aboard the ship.

Darkness flowed around its head and dripped from its razor-sharp teeth. It dipped its head back in the water and swam outward and then dove into the depths only to flip back around aimed at the ship like a torpedo. That shark rushed forward, sending ripples through the water. The darkness spread out even further from its body.

Kaz thrust his hand forward and sent a blast of wind erupting into the water. It clashed with the shark's attack and sent darkness scattering into the air. The shark winced away from the attack and moved to attack once more. Kaz readied his hands and aimed both of them at the shark before it could dive again. The blast sent the shark skidding atop the water and darkness and blood until it rolled over, floating lifeless on the top. The wind mage wiped his forehead with his sleeve. But this was only the beginning.

"We aren't done yet, Kaz!" A man yelled from the coastline. He wore a traditional robe much like what Kazimir used to wear. Something reminiscent of his time with the water clan. The voice even sounded familiar but it couldn't be. The wind mage squinted his eyes to get a better idea. He brought his hand over his eyes like a shield from the sun that beamed down.

Before his eyes settled, the person had spun around and dropped down behind some boulders. But what he did see, was the large blue and black magic circle that originated at the coastline and another one not far from the boat in the sea.

The water became violent and turbulent around the magical seal in the sea. It churned and began to swirl faster and faster, creating a whirlpool intertwined with waves a shadow. Kaz put his arm up to hold back his men, "Get to cover now," he said and nodded towards the cabin. It wasn't much but it would stop them from being thrown overboard if the ship was sunk altogether.

Whatever was happening, it had to do with that man and this darkness. The whirlpool raged on but it was too far to drag the ship in. Which only served to create more suspicions about what was to come. The whirlpool pulled in the body of the defeated shark. The shark floundered closer to the center of the whirlwind where a great maw, lined with human-sized teeth emerged to swallow it whole. From the whirlpool, the gigantic mouth of a great white pushed through. The whirlwind ceased as the beast fully emerged. A shark whose size eclipsed the tiny boat they were now standing on. Its mere arrival sent water splashing into the sky and raining back down onto the sea and the deck of the ship.

The shark radiated dark shadowy energy. The shadows outlined its body and fins. Its teeth dripped the darkness like it was saliva. It bobbed in the water motionless. Its dark eyes were deadset on the small boat directly in its path. It could swallow them whole as well.

Kaz wiggles his fingers at his side and open and closed his hands. He refrained from any sudden movements despite every instinct in his soul to get the heck out of ther. There was a new voice in his mind...one of great power but not the spirit of the tiger. "Set the past right," the voice said echoing in his mind. He shook his head confused by the thought and blinked it away.

As his eyes shut to blink it was like the shark could sense the hesitation and bolted forward with a wave of water.

The wave was a monsoon of power behind the massive moving predator. Kaz wanted to look over to the people he needed to protect, but he had to focus on the threat. The crew members huddled together in the cabin and, hoping that it would all be over soon. The squad leader mustered up his resolve and rushed back out. Kaz yelled over his shoulder, "Get to safety!"

"I'll man the weapons," he yelled back and took hold of the harpoon, for what little damage it could do. But Kaz wasn't about to stop a man from being a knight. With a nod, the wind mage stared down the maw of the shark. Water rushed into its mouth that was only a quarter above water and rising as it swam closer. The crewman fired the harpoon and struck the side of the shark's face. It penetrated but the shark was unfazed by it. Kaz jumped onto the railing of the ship. he had to lead it away somehow.

He leaped into the air with wind shooting out behind him and splintering the wood of the deck of the ship. He rushed forward, flying along the sky with his reflecting in the turbulent waters beneath him. He was aimed to collied with the beast and fired a tornado of wind into the shark's mouth. The blast sent the shark into a frenzy of thrashing its head back and forth, choking on the wind. Kaz peeled off to the side and sent a vacuum of wind ripping through the water and hitting the side of the mammoth shark. The huge creature shut its jaws and torpedoed at Kaz.

The crewman aimed to fire another shot, but Kaz waved his hand to halt the man. Any action may bring it back to them. The shark dipped down and in an amazing feat of power, it leaped out of the water mouth gapping open.

The wind mage marveled at the sight. Water cascaded off the shark, like it was waterfalls off a cliff. Its jaws were spread wider than he had seen spells erupt in. Kaz flew higher up and the beast soared higher with him. A jump to make sure the shark didn't miss. It was all or nothing with the animal. Darkness reached out from its jaws like tendrils wrapping around Kaz's legs and easing up his body as the wind mage strained to fly faster.

The shadows climbed up to his chest as the jaws were waist level around him now and the shark began to clamp down. The two massive rows of teeth came barreling at him like two walls ready to crush the life from him. He stepped on the air and shot a jet stream of air that propelled him upward. The teeth clamped down on nothing but shadows. Kaz flipped in the air as the shark began to fall back to the sea. He roared to the heavens and sent down a dozen tornadoes that devasted the exposed shark's body. The beast crashed into the waters like a fallen cliff, sending a wave rushing at the boat nearly toppling it over.

Kaz sent down more tornadoes one after another until he was sure the creature was dead. Once the animal stopped moving the shadows faded away from it and it sank to the bottom of the sea. Kaz flew back to the ship to check on the rest of the crew. None were injured and all were ready to go home.

The wind mage fell backward and leaned his back against the cabin wall. The man on the coastline was long gone but the threat had been stopped for now. But who knew when that man would appear again and what he wanted. This was far from over. They sailed back into the docks with cheers that they could get back to work once again.
